Good position close to lake but easy 6km cycle into Groningen.Comfortable beds.Nice pool & free tennis courts. Kitchen closed at 9pm on Saturday night in high season even though the room information said room service was available til 10. We had to get in the car & go into city to eat, instead of a nice relaxing meal on terrace as planned. We would have eaten earlier if we'd known!
possibility of going to the spa
nice relaxing area around, and nice close to City Groningen
Good reception. Efficient, personal. Very quiet location. The place to have a rest. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Everything works. Brasserie menu and execution is acceptable but not of the same standard as the rest.
Very good and personal service. Quick and easy check-in/-out. Very good with several available bagage cart.
Good facilities - pool, sauna etc. Quiet and relaxing
In very pleasant location , backs onto lakeside , Plenty of car parking . Large rooms , nice bar / terrace .
The friendliness of the staff The menu in the dinning room for Dinner, is very limited and old fashioned. No choice for vegetarians. This is a big drawback as there are no other restaurants within walking distance.
Lovely quiet location, comfortable, clean and quiet room Wireless internet could have been better but nothing major
We stayed there many times over the years. ( For all above-mentioned reasons.) It is even better now that the hotel is totally smoke-free. And we like the 'new look' following their recent renovations (2008)). It is our favorite hotel in North Holland. We had an excellent service in the dining room the first evening. However, the second evening - they were short of staff - and it took much too long to eat a simple 4-course meal (19h00 to 22h30..)
It was all very good.
The setting of the hotel was beautiful, the rooms lovely, the food great and the staff friendly & helpful. The pool and pool-side areas are lovely! We had believed the spa services would be more extensive and more professional than they were. In our view they were over-priced for the services received and we felt a little cheated by them. For example, the expensive 30 minute massage was actually 15-20 minutes with time left over to "lay and rest".
The quitness and calmness, beatifull surroundings.
Very nice location and excellent bed Charging 17 euro for 24 hours in a hotel like this is over the top. I expect service. The also send one a survey. 10 minutes is far too long and it contains questions pushing you into a specific statement. deleted it.
Lovely area Beds in the room weren't very comfortable
You can bring your own food. Lovely surrounds. Kind, gentle, (and quite absent) family run business. From the B&B, it is more a Bed only. For the breakfast, it was more a "do it yourself" policy... with no coffee (in the 1 euro sanseo machine). Probably ok for young people looking for a rather cheap way to travel in the area.
The B&B Farmhouse was nicely located and there was a big lobby/rest area. They advertised a sauna we were not allowed to use because it was inside the only shower room we had to share with all the other guests! We had to prepare the breakfast by ourself. It was possible to hear every word of the other guests inside our room! I guess it´s okay for a big group.
Fit for purpose, budget business style, three star hotel. No frills, plentiful parking. Expensive mini-bar & I didn't take up the 15 Euro breakfast.
Reception staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Brreakfast was nice but too expensive!
The beds were very comfortable. The hotel offered free bikes for guests to use. I was charged an additional fee without my knowledge.
staff, location stairs, no ramps, somewhere hidden an elevator
Hotel was very clean , room was lovely, great location, good facilities
The hotel is located conveniently close to the town of Groningen and still offers the advantage of staying in the countryside. The design is quite basic, but comfortable. The carpets in the corridors are indeed due to a change! Breakfast is quite nice in a spacy breakfast room. Friendly staff at the reception. Despite our request we were booked into a room which was facing the highways and the noise level is indeed quite high. Even with the window closed there is still a lot of noise in the night, so it seems impossible to sleep with an open window.
very helpful hotel stuffs bed size--Two double beds means not one twin and one double. and restaurant-- waitress takes her time serving dinner. It took over two hours to finish. Changed the desert without notice. I was looking forward to see the desert on the menu since I never had it before.--, bit pricey.
precio-comfort 10 location 10 very very good staff nothing have been there many times all everytime 10
Nothing special, but good value for money.
very friendly staff
The staff were so helpful, for example, when we would leave for work too early for breakfast, they would pack us a breakfast/lunch and leave outside out door - even on coming home, they didn't let us go without food and drink for the journey. They even gave us a lift to the railway as they thought it was too far to walk! Certainly a true family environment, and equally as caring1 Absolutely nothing we can put in this box!
The setting, ambiance and staff were very nice. There were good trails to walk our dog. The rooms were comfortable.
Staff very helpfull, nice reception areas, we ate at a restaurant owned by the owners in the town and the food was outstanding Bedrooms very dated, perhaps need updating
Very friendly & helpful staff.Very good eveinng dinners Room facilities a bit basic.
Breakfast was very late
I loved the historic feel of the hotel - renovated from an old home and the ambience was very warm and European - it reminded me of the show Faulty Towers except they were very professional. The rooms were very small but I understand there's going to be a big renovation.
great area to hike, cycle, etc.
cannot comment as visit was for a funeral No tea or coffee facilities in bedroom
Excellent food in a very friendly, relaxed environment They had given away one of the rooms on our booking for two rooms! They found another hotel down the road for our friends and gave us free drinks on the house as an apology but I advise you to call ahead!
The hotel was more than adequate for our weekend stay. We were there for the superbikes at Assen and our priorities were, close proximity to the circuit, clean and comfortable, excellent value for money. The staff were fantastic, very friendly.
I have stayed at this hotel four times now and it still cheers me up when i arrive. The staff are great, always helpful, the rooms are clean and cosy, the food is very good.
Its magnificent surroundings, excellent food, relaxed atmosphere and outstanding service.
The room was large, very well equipt, and extremely comfortable. Everything was perfect. Beautiful view of the waterway, excellent internet service, easy, free parking. Very quiet and peaceful.
It was great from start to finish
everything was made for a very pleasant stay: a great stop in time in very calm and relaxing atmosphere. waiting for next meetings to come back again soon !
The breakfast, the staff was nice Information about activities, public phone out of order
I liked the area the hotel the hotel was set in Everything was fine , a relaxing stay
Very nice location. Balcony with view over waterfront. Comfortable room. Good breakfast buffet. On the morning of departure workmen started cleaning my balcony by hosing it down from the ground floor. The only problem - I was sitting on it enjoying the views. I got soaked and had to escape inside. Afterwards the balcony was clean but chair and table covered with muddy water. Strange end of a otherwise very nice stay at the hotel.
Very pleasant hotel in lovely scenic spot. Generous portions for dinner. Good parking. We have visited three times. Need fly control in breakfast bar area.
location, friendly helpful staff, free wifi
Beautiful environment Nothing
Friendly staff, excellent food and a picturesque setting.
We had a room with a small terrace overlooking the garden. Very nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as our party included a vegetarian and a guy that can't have dairy or wheat in his food.
It was a small but handsome room. The hotel is at a central location. There was a nice breakfast buffet
The setting was beautiful, the staff very friendly and attentive and the food superb.
Clean and pleasant room, good restaurent, convenient and spacious car park.
Large rooms. A excellent selection for breakfast.
Staff very friendly & helpful Bathroom showers make no sense ..... 1/3 of a shower door with the shower located in the rear of the tub. Do you folks really like wet floors? Seems this is typical of Europe, but these deep tubs and crazy showers are accidents waiting to happen. Hope you have good insurance.
Easy to find and centrally located. The meal in the restaurant was disappointing.
Great staff and good service
Clean, nice staff, good value although a little far from gronigen which I ask for.
My stay was very enjoyable, the room was clean as well as the bathroom. In the bathroom we found the placement of the toilet roll very inadequate. The room was also a bit too warm.
Good excess from main roads Soft-drink machine placed against my room. Noisy men and women in the room(s)
comfortable counter in the bathroom is a bit small
The hotel staff were fantastic could not do enough for us. The food was super
Friendly staff, Free WiFi & parking. Good value for money. Quiet location in a sleepy little town. Good chef specials in the gastro-pub-cum-bar downstairs. Fit for purpose rooms.
Small friendly place in queit but nice village in the countryside. Resturant there was excellent if a little pricey, but the standard was very good.
De Parel is located on. One of the many waterways in Holland. Fascinating scenery! Quite nice little in-house restaurant with very reasonable prices. Breakfast ok. We knew this in advance, but it was quite difficult to find.
hotel staff is very attentive. the meal in the hotel restaurant is very tasty. Small, quiet place. We left the hotel early in the morning, so the hotel guy prepared the breakfast and left it for us in the fridge (omelette, juice, etc) - it was very nice!
Location was great, pretty village and town is surrounded by lovely waters. The walk through to the hotel room past the back of the kitchen, fridges and stock was not nice. Then walking through the kitchen door into the hallway where you are met with an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke from the smoking room and toilets for the restuarant. Entrance and exit to hotel was also jammed full of tables, chairs and other stuff making exit difficult.
Good price, wireless internet conection, nice man working in reception, nice enviroment. Seven days a week the same food at breakfast... During the whole stay the rooms weren't cleaned.
Helpful, friendly staff who spoke good English. Good food also. Room walls so thin that snoring man in adjacent room kept me awake all night!
Close to the station, good menu and breakfast, easy and quick check-in and check-out, internet. Not the most quiet hotel.
The location was central to the city center. Easy access to various restaurants, cafes and pubs. The staff were friendly and inviting. During the week of World Cup round of 16 and first set of quarterfinals, the staff set up a large-screen projection system to view the some games. Exciting time during the quarterfinal of The Netherlands vs. Brazil.
Good service and willing to help out with additional services. The wifi did not work in my room.
Breakfast Room too small, the sloping roof was just too sloped, difficulty standing upright! (particularly in the shower room)
Friendlyness of the staff, and the efficient service.
Friendly staff. Excellent kitchen. Central position. Room rather small, although all necessities were there and worked OK.
Location, ffod and beveargae Location of rooms at the front of the hotel, VERY noisy on Friday and Saturday nights untill 4am.
the breakfast was good, the room was clean the standard room is above the restaurant, so we paid more to change to a quiet room. except the price, others were good.
Awake till 4AM because the room was not isolated and the hotel turns out to be in the clubbing zone of Assen. If you like noise while you're trying to sleep, this is the right place to go. Car was towed away in the morning as it turned out there was a town market. "we tell our staff to inform our guests about this, but apperantly the staff member forgot". That'll be 220 Euro then. The hotel staff doesn't take license registrations, but they do get informed when cars are being towed. How hard is it to ask for a reg and inform the guests their car is about to be towed. Very poor customer service and absolute ignorance from staff.
distance between hotel and customer Smell, staff attention in restaurant
Friendly staff - as always - I have been staying there for years
Nice hotel, good food, nice atmosphere, lots of space The cockeral at 05.00
The rooms were beautifully refurbished especially the bathrooms. Super modern and luxurious
space and convenience
easy to find ,all embracing, good service unchanging over the years
We've spent 90 days traveling throughout 18 countries in Europe staying most nights in hotels for no more then one or two days at a time and Van der Valk was definately one of the better ones. So no real complaints. We had a minor problem with our dinner, the main course was very dry and unpalletable as if left standing, it wasn't that busy! However to their credit when we made our concerns known the staff were courteous and professional, offering to replace our order with another choice or no charge for the offending items.
quiet and good value Breakfast roll not as fresh as last few times otherwise very good
Clean room, food in restaurant good, staff friendly, location for work Laundry service slow (27 hrs), Late breakfast start (7am too late)
Elegance, good taste, gentile. The location could be rather a Boutique Hotel. The staff is kindly (very friendly). The breakfast is delightful. What we most appreciate, was the care for details, the dishes, table clothes, napkins were in perfect harmony. Even the fresh floral arrangements had an adequate chrome. Because were cycling through Holland, we asked the staff if it is possible to have a take a way breakfast at 7AM in the morning, earlier than the usual hour for their breakfast (8AM). Not only she was so kind and she gave us a great and tasty meal for our expedition, but she putted so much, that we were embarrassed (ill at ease) of her politeness.
Very friendly owners. Owner/operator spoke English. B&B was on a bus route and it was convenient to get into the city of Assen and to the train station. Great breakfast, very clean and quiet.
The 4 Seasons was the best Bed & Breakfast that I have ever used. The house was immaculately clean and stylish, and the landlady was extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely first "Klaas"
The staff were very happy to help at all times. A very good breakfast is served, no problems whatsoever.
Nice quite hotel with friendly staff. The owner let us leave our motorcycles behind his house for the duration of our stay under a covered area.
Poor dinner menu, very little choice.
Low cost. Good location. Noisy rooms.
Friendly greeting on arrival. All facilties explained very well, even down to the early breakfast on saturday for the tt fans.
The food was excellant and staff very helpful a map to find hotel would be useful
Quiet location and ease of parking. No information in English and little offered by staff.
Personal attention at late arrival and cooked personal breakfast the next morning. WiFi offering was a pleasant surprise.
Nice food polite and freindly staff Hard to find
An excellent diner was served The toilet and shower were noisy
Quiet setting, warm welcome, pleasant restaurant with good food and wine.
Excellent food very clean reasonable price lovely location Bed was 2 singles placed side by side, made as 2 beds.
Made very welcome during stay. Cuisine excellent.Character and good location.
The room looked lovely, clean and pristine, the staff were helpfull and friendly During the night I constantly heard scuttling (probably rats or mice) in the wall cavities and along the roof (I rules out bats as they went along the beams). I got the worst nights sleep I have had in ages, which didn't exactly make me on top of the world for the next day, especially as I had to drive almost 300 miles back to Dunkirk at the end of it.
Helpful staff. Hotel clean. Nice quiet location about 20 minutes from Assen TT circuit. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Meals in hotel restaraunt a bit expensive.
