great location, beautiful buildings and grounds Needed more lounge areas downstairs
The building was beautiful Slow staff and very dated, tatty and cheaply furnished
Restaurant very good Room smelt musty
The atmosphere in the Chateau There was no air conditioning in the room and the toilet in the bathroom had not been cleaned properly as it was soiled.
the food unable to find a member of staff to get a drink after dinner
Ideal location for us breakfast a bit too basic
Convenient location relative to Calais but in more attractive ambience. Had stayed once before. They offered a special price Mersault wine to guests at Euro 17.50 and so when I ordered that in the Bar it was charged at Euro 61.00!! That was a shocker...
Food was excellent
It's setting and location. The poor quality of the expensive dinner and their inflexibility when I asked to cancel breakfast, which turned out to be poor for 20euros
nice old building lots of character peaceful location rooms spacious and beds comfortable bathroom could do with an upgrade dinner expensive for disappointing food service was painfully slow.would still return for the experience of staying in such a beautiful old place
The young owners were enthusiastic and worked hard to please. The hotel had recently been refurbed and was modern and spotless. The food was excellent freshly prepared basic fayre, generous portions and good value. There was a large english group celebrating a 60th birthday, they were treated excellently and made to feel special. The 5 minute walk to maries cafe for a beer or coffee and a game of the most unusual blow football was a super experience. All within a 5 minute drive of the A26 motorway. Definitely re-book.
Polite, helpful staff, beautifully refurbished hotel, peaceful location.
Good ensuite with hairdryer. Quiet location. Easy access from motorway. Flat screen tv with a couple of English channels (volume was limited - a little too low for us but used subtitles.) Would have liked a telephone, kettle and fridge.
Great location. Just off motorway & only 30mins from ferry port. Food excellent & very good value.
I liked the situation of the building set in parkand. The facilities in the hotel are very good. Architecture most impressive Signposting to the hotel was good. Staff excellent. Dinner, the service and the dining room were all very good. There were two simple matters which I feel should be rectified and should not have occured in a hotel of this standing. a) The handbasin in my room was badly cracked and had been so for some time. b) At breakfast coffee cup which I was served with had an unsightly crack in it. I felt this should also not have occured. These two matters spoilt to some extent an otherwise perfect experience.
The setting was brilliant and only 30 mins from the Ferry port made it an excellent choice. The resturant food for Dinner and breakfast was excellent both in terms of choice, quality, servcie and cost. The fact that there are no shower screens over the bath. This caused a lot of unneccessary water on the floor. Not good for the environment in respect of cutting down on towel usage.
The position of the room round the corner from the indoor swimming pool, and the fantastic restaurant. The unheated corridor from the room to the pool! Although we could have used the dressing-gowns and slippers if we had known about them! ie only saw them on a chair in the hallway when we were leaving the hotel..Perhaps they should be in the rooms with the pool towels?
The hotel is in a beautiful garden setting, which is most relaxing. Food and service excellent.
walking round the outside of the building. Having our breakfast in my daughters room. It was a lovely room and had tea and coffee facilities. the room needed updating,,no tea and coffee facilities. Furniture was rusty and stains on the chair. Not good value for Money.
A really pleasurable stay. The dinner was a high point. If we were staying for longer, the lack of drawers for clothes would have been a problem
TheChateau , the Quality of the food and the service from the staff was excellent. no
Staff were very nice, spoke good English. Comfort Room was just about big enough but had an excellent bed. Food and wine was superb in a lovely annexe resturant (the old stables). No issues
Excellent service, nice room, excellent restaurant Nothing I disliked but tea and coffee making facilities in the room and BBC on the television would be nice.
The staff were excellent and the food fantastic. Slight issue with noise in rooms
Clean, good selection for breakfast, pleasant staff, well situated
car Park was good. Wall was dirty, bed uncomfortable (narrow and dipped) and room small.
The location is good, just outside the ferry terminal, ideal for an overnight stay. Staff are very friendly. The facillities and bar is adequate and comfortable
Value for money Room was quite small
Nothing interesting The receptionist was not welcoming, the prices were different to online booking
the amount of cigarette smoke around the entrance and gets upsatirs to the none smoking area..also the room heating were much too hot
No decent restaurant within walking distance
The room was unbelievably small for a twin bed room - barely room to get out of bed on one side and no space between the beds.
buget hotel clean but very compact I booked online at a price of 55euros and was charged 73euros I am very unhappy about that. I had not reallized until 2 days later when I got online in France
This hotel was conveinent for us boarding the ferry the following morning thats all. 40 Euros which did not include breakfast did not for us represent value for money. The shower room was actually smaller than the one in the cabin we booked on the Belfast / Liverpool Ferry. The electrical socket which the tv was plugged into was hanging out the wall. Everybody had there own entrance and the entry to your room was from directly outside of the building which for me added a potential security problem. sheets were clean but the blankets were smelly and not very clean. Young Children were running around and around the outside of the rooms late at night which was very noisey. Sorry I would not recomend this hotel unless you were a bunch of lads who wanted to get drunk sleep it off and who also wanted to waist their money.
Good for overnight stops.
Very convenient No
Everything was great, especially as the hotel is near a Camponile, one can have a dinner in the evening. Toilet paper was too basic..
Friendly staff, Excellent buffet breakfast. Small rooms. Bit cramped for 3 adults.
Accessibility, cleanliness, and the added bonus of a very pleasant evening stroll around the lake ! The meal deal with the restuarant next door provided a very enjoyable, and well-priced dinner. We were sufficiently impressed to decide to use the hotel on on return journry, and would happily do so again in the future. If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful overnight stay en route it's an ideal place
The hotel was adequate for our requirements
the price no english channels on tv. thats not really a fair criticism after all we were in france.
excellent buffet breakfast small pod style bathroom, climb upto third bed
de otters campanille or better tis is bad, bad;bad everything exept de staff was bad
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was a bit small but OK for a family of five. It was a bit expensive.
Close to the port and easy to find There seemed to be some strange things happening in the nearby hotels like fires outside.
OK for over night stop - not as good as the Kyriad across the road
Only Location Did not eat at hotel because menu same as in Paris and very limited
restaurant was good no secure parking.breakfast was far too expensive -9 euros is too much.5 euros would be enough
It was clean and had all the basic requirements for one night's stay. The booking process was efficient. The staff had good knowledge of the local area to make recommendations, such as the best beach.
It was very quiet at night and perfect for relaxing. It was far from the city of Dunquerke (10-15min by car) very close to an industrial area. The roads dont have light at night, which I found dangerous.
It was just what we wanted. Very clean and quiet. Staff very helpful.
closness to port
The breakfast was excellent, being able to eat and drink as much we liked. The location and disabled parking facility were good. the room was very clean. The room was cramped and bathroom was diabolically small. The shower was virtually unusable due to it's size. No tea or coffee making facilities, ie no kettle.
Disgusting will never use again or reccomend Magots in rrom, dirty bedlinen,no plates for toast,no spoons for ceral,,,shower dangerous andnot able to use as it would have flodded the bathroom, unless you are a stick insect showers no use
The breakfast was O.K. The Hotel is basicly made up of small ships cabins, and there-fore there is not much room. The washing basin was very small that it was difficult to have a shave, and the toilet did not flush properly
Handy for the ferry Very busy due to good location fron the ferry made it a little noisey
Located near a Carrefour hypermarket, so easy for shopping. Basic accomodation at a very reasonable price. Room was basic and rather noisey, could hear people walking about above us all night.
A very basic, cheap hotel right by a shopping mall. Everything you need is more or less there - it served its purpose as a stop over before the ferry. The hotel could probably be improved in every area, but then the price would need to go up as well. You get possibly more that the price would suggest.
Breakfast availability was helpful and v good value. It was also v reasonably priced.Room heaters were effctive which helped in the cold weather. It was v noisy, being on a commercial estate and near to a busy main road. Also it was motel style and people were arriving and leaving all night. It was also v difficult to find from Dunkerque port.
Close to large hypermarket and other shops, very cheap for basic accomodation. Smell from the toilet into the sleeping area, as it only has a concertina type plastic door.
Friendly staff, handy location to Port for ferry to UK Very limited services but next door an excellent restaurant in a sister hotel.
The room was modern, spacious and comfortable. The hotel was well situated and in easy walking distance of the town. It was very quiet at night.
Friendly welcome and good restaurant.
Overnight stop only. Quick walk around the town and then to a restaurant You obviously have a problem with hard water. All the tap and shower nozzles need 'de-coking' with a wash in vinegar or some other acid. Only other issue for us was that the headroom on one side of the room was very low because of the eaves.
comfortable room Too close to noisy night club so didn't get much sleep
Receptionists very helpful. Breakfast good. Location excellent, not in noisy town centre but easy walking distance.
Courtesy of hotel and restaurant staff. Willingness to help.
Close to city center Very expensive meals compared to rest of city.
Restaurant. Location. Parking.
The location for St Omer was good We asked for a refurbished room, which was really basic. First room offered was a double rather than a twin, so had to be moved. Was nothing like the pictures on the internet.
Ideally situated to where we wanted to stay. Free car park.
Handy for overnight stay en-route to Euro-tunnel.Very warm welcome at reception. Plenty of parking. Lovely water mill setting. Restaurant, food on the expensive side, in particular breakfast. However it was very good quality and a good choice.
We loved this 'hidden away' hotel. It's surrounded by fields and is lovely and quiet. The staff very friendly and helpful. Had a great supper in the restaurant - the children had the best kids meal ever! It's only half an hour away from Calais so made a good break point in our journey back from Disney. Don't be put off by the surrounding environs which include a cement factory - but this really is a nice place to stay.
setting of the hotel
Very useful first/last night when arriving from UK before/after channel crossing. Good food. Difficult to eat away from hotel. Menu reflects this as starts at 40 euros.
Verry nice surrourdings
The setting Couldn't find it ~ well hidden but signage poor
Our room was attractive and fairly comfortable the restaurant was good but lacked atmosphere the night we were there . Only two other people were dining. However all in all we thought that our stay was value for money. We would have liked another armchair in our room and another pillow but all in all there was very little that we were not happy with.
The location, lovely. The rooms are very very dark. A few extra lamps would do miracles. The food was not too good either.
people and food food good but a little fussy
The restaurant was excellent and garden an grounds very pretty The upstairs passage was unattractive and the fact that the lights are on a time switch made it very difficult to see when leaving ones bedroom. There should be a switch by each room or one light should be left on.
Plenty of space, large bedroom with comfortable bed. Lovely view from breakfast room & balcony. Smell of air freshener / incense(?) when first arrived in room.
Unique decor and history of hotel, located in a spectacular French small town.
Peaceful. Lovely swimming pool. Although no restaurant was easy walking distance of several good restaurants. Interesting history from 1st world war. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times but when we had an accident in our car they transported us to the ferry for our return journey home. Over and above the call of duty. With many thanks to Justine and all the lovely staff on duty day and night.
Superb! We had a 7 hour drive from Switzerland to UK and wanted to stay somewhere en route near Calais. There are not many hotels near Calais like this one. Off the beaten track, but only 40 minutes drive to the ports in the morning. Fantastic room (Moulin Rouge suite) and just a generally high quality feel to the whole place. Only continental breakfast available and we thought the bread/croissants/jam already on our table was it, however more followed including hot crepes, fruit, cheese, ham etc. Nothing to complain about, but 2 observations: 1) There is only a small car park which has quite a tight entrance. Max 4 cars which might be a problem in high season. However, it does feel very secure as you are parked literally at the front door and overlooked by reception. At busier times, there is parking at the rear of the hotel. 2) The hotel did not offer evening meals when we stayed (end Sept). Initially we thought this a poor situation, but the staff were able to provide a list of recommended local restaurants many of which were only a short walk away. Our trip to the Kasteelhof Restaurant proved memorable as it was very rustic and full of local charm and surprisingly inexpensive.
Absolutely lovely Hotel. Fantastic setting on top of a hill, with amazing views. Peaceful, comfortable rooms, very imaginatively decorated. Very friendly staff and generally lovely ambiance
The hotel was in a good location, the room was really nice with a huge bathroom and lots of space. The breakfast is very overpriced at 12.50 euros per person and the room had an overpowering smell of perfumed cleaner so we had to open all the windows to clear the smell a bit.
We liked the location, the amazing views from the room and the building's character.
The tranquillity and view were superb would have to be very lucky to find another as good. At the time we stayed it lacked atmosphere as it was very very quiet, think only one other couple were staying.
Layout of cottage was excellent, especially as we had dogs. No staff spoke any English. No restaurant. Unable to work tv system correctly - only 4 channels available and all were French. Roof had leaked onto bed so bedclothes were wet and stained - it appeared that the room had not been checked prior to occupation (other than to turn on some heating) and had not been used for some time. Glass door on single toilet, which was right next to kitchen, was not appropriate. Access to main hotel from the cottage was difficult due to lack of lighting and no directions so had to access by walking back round from main road. Information in room suggested that breakfast was available in the room but this was not the case (having called a french speaking friend to translate for us).
Excellent room, service, breakfast. Theme rooms were great fun. Travelled with parents and other family member they had great rooms and enjoyable stay. No bad points.
The accommodation is excellent, nice bathroom etc. The restaurant is superb, having a wide range of menus to suit all tastes together with a good range of wine. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to have a really good meal though gourmet options are available. Like most Logis establishments, there are no facilities in the room to make a hot drink. There is no problem getting something from the staff in normal hours but I like a coffeeearly morning before I shower and get ready to meet people!
the new conservatory restaurant is superb and giving a far nicer lounge area noise of other guests in the same chalet block
Our evening meal was superb, served in spacious dining room with views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were very helpful No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Loud television in the bar.
The restaurant was closed - we had booked the hotel because of the restaurant write-up. We were told the bar was open but returned to the hotel at 9.00 pm after having to go into St Omer for dinner only to find the bar was also closed.
Easy to find; good space in cabins - upstairs rooms particularly good; excellent food; staff happy to accommodate special diets; reasonable rates no
Superb, a real surprise, very welcoming, great accommodation in chalet type buildings(easy acess to outside for my dog ),spacious rooms and comfortable beds.Good resturant with good menus 22euros and more.Good access and near Calais for our final night ! Will recommend .
The atmosphere was very welcoming. The owners were helpful and the waitresses were friendly and efficient. The setting is beautiful. No
The new dining room is excellent. The room is light, airy, with a good view over the distant St. Omer. A choice of 4 menus offer a balanced variety of dishes. The food is well prepared, presented and of good quality offering excellent value for money. The staff are attentive, friendly and courteous. One thing we found disconcerting is that dogs are allowed into the dining room, not just small dogs either! And, no, it wasn't the French, Dutch, Belgians or Germans that brought them in, it was the British!. What is wrong with us? I love horses ....... The room offerd only a shower and not a bath.
