Le Clos Boutenelle - Houlle Moulle - Building
1
9.3 Excellent (282 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Le Clos Boutenelle in Eperlecques, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Eperlecques Blockhaus and Bois de Ruminghem Golf Club. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I wish I could give this a score of 11. I can't recommend Le Clos Boutenelle highly enough. The rooms are incredible, filled with mismatched antique furniture, the smell of antique wood fills your nostrils. The garden view is spectacular, like something out of a Monet painting complete with weeping willow trees and russet coloured ivy on the outbuildings. Breakfast was perfect, continental with fresh croissants and baguettes, jams, a variety of cheeses and honey. Plus tea, coffee and orange juice. All with the benefit of a nice English speaking host, thank you Gilles.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely historic house in beautiful setting, close to Blockhouse ( amazing and mad WW2 bunker built for launching V2 bombs, but never used, well worth visiting)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable bedroom and ensuite shower room. Beautiful house and garden. Very friendly owner who went out of his way to be helpful.
Cons: Some shampoo in the bathroom would have been helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is very tastefully decorated and the room was very comfortable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great B&B in the middle of nowhere - but in a good way. The host is very nice, communicative and helps as much as he can. The property is a beautiful periodical "mansion style" house with a lot of character. Breakfast was simple and delicious as you'd expect from a French host - fresh baguette, croissant, selection of cheeses and marmalade. Room had towels, soap & toilet paper but no shampoo so keep that in mind. It's not the cleanest property I've stayed in but for this price and overall - more than enough. We will definitely come again, just bring our own shampoo this time.
Cons: Location is a bit challenging if you're looking for dinner in the area. There's a nice local bistro that offers decent pizza but that's about it. Everything else is 10+ minutes drive away including a grocery store. We love the seclusion - some might find it too remote. Also - bed lining was not the cleanest but it's a B&B and the rooms are cleaned so we'll "let it slide" as it wasn't tragic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house tastefully decorated. Gilles is a considerate host and will make you feel welcome at his immaculate home. It’s only a half hour outside Calais and is a different class from the offer in town. We will be back on our next ferry trip.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: The welcome, even though we were late. The quirky eccentric layout of the accommodation. The breakfast - full of variety. The garden - soft fruit next to our breakfast table. The towels. The area. The Saturday market.
Cons: Difficult to find in darkness (sorry we were late!). A photo of the florists with an arrow on the left hand side to indicate the view from the street, plus a photo of the house number on the wall of the florists, would have been good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location very clean
Cons: Price of the coffee
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Robust key policy for late arrival, can be relied on (0400ETA!)
Cons: Arrived at reception at 0915 to be told breakfast is finished at 0900. This after I explained late arrival due 6 hour late NHS cancer op on my sainted mother the previous day. I asked if croissant available and then tray of items provided, so heart is in right place, merci pour ça. Late key policy makes this a high rec for the pressed traveller, very clean basic room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We always like our stays at Chateau De Cocove, its quiet and peaceful and lovely food breakfast and evening meal.
Cons: nothing
6.0 Good
Pros: The restaurant food is very is good, so too is the wine selection. The location is great for through travellers. If you have travel with a pet there's a good amount of space to go for some exercise in the grounds.
Cons: We've stayed for the last few years on our way through to england and back. Unfortunately the rooms are starting to look shabby despite a refurb a few years ago. We had issues with room cleanliness which caused very bad asthma, it was either someone smoked in the room or there was a mold issue which was masked by spray. There are new fabric covered walls which had peeling damp plaster work peeping through where it met the ceiling which made me wonder if there are are greater issues that had been solved on the surface. One night stay caused an immediate illness so unfortunately we wont stay again. The cheeseboard had always been a highlight at dinner. However the very young waitstaff were not trained in basics of how to cut a piece of cheese. Every piece was butchered and diced and hacked into clusters and mounds. It was quite ridiculous but comical. Not sure what is going on but the place seems to be sliding. I hope they get it back as it certainly has been great up to this point.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Chateau was beautiful. Room was lovely and view from our room was dreamy.
Cons: The restaurant closed early so we couldn’t have dessert, which was a shame as the main we had was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous chateau with very friendly staff and great bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food is outstanding in this hotel, our dinner was the best lamb we have eaten. 5 stars!!
Cons: The British television channels kept going off with a message saying weak or no signal. We do like to keep up with BBC news whilst away.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location as very near to Calais/Eurotunnel , and a great view to wake up to. Very comfy bed and always nice to have tea/coffee in room. The evening meal was great and service outstanding. A couple of functions were going on but there was absolutely no noise disturbance.
Cons: bathroom shelves very dusty, floor needed a good sweep and old soap box still there from previous occupant. None are serious issues but just makes you feel that it hasn't been throughly cleaned. More milk in room for tea and coffee would have been nice. Breakfast buffet was okay but not value for money at 16 euros each, french sausages, streaky bacon which is really just fat and scrambled eggs in bulk kept warm , I have certainly had better or similar but in much cheaper hotels.

Pros: Great to have a bath. The location is great near A26 but in middle of countryside. As the name suggests it was once a water mill you can still see parts of it. Restaurant and meal fantastic. Breakfast good. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Shower not attached to wall no shower curtain. Room a bit small. No towel rail or hooks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service along with a fabulous meal and very efficient friendly staff.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The position near to the tunnel was ideal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We didn't have breakfast as we left very early to catch the Ferry from Calais. However we did have Dinner the night before and the food was so delicious and presented beautifully in a gorgeous setting. We slept soundly and it was lovely to hear the river in the backround. Staff were so delightfully accommodating and helpful.
Cons: Nothing. It was all wonderful!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Tucked away in a small hamlet this small Auberge provided all we needed for a very pleasant overnight stay. Our room was clean and comfortable. As the Auberge is a converted water mill the original internals are a little quirky, but added to the charm. Our evening meal was excellent and from a good menu. The staff we met were both friendly and engaging. Not too far from both the Eurotunnel and Autoroute network I would use again and recommend.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quirky and interesting hotel
Cons: It was very cold in the bedroom when we arrived and the bedding felt damp, we asked the owner if we could change the room but he.was booked up, however he sorted the problem out and when we returned the room was warm and cosy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people, great food
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Due to the extreme heat Eurotunnel was running a delayed service so I arrived late . I was welcomed and given time to organise myself before dinner . The food was delicious with a good choice of typically french cuisine . Comfortable room by the garden , perfect for the dog .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is quirky, great value for money and the food first class.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: They have their own restaurant where the food is very good, breakfast is a standard French one so fine and the place has that quirky charm slowly going out of fashion these days, long may it last here.
Cons: Not a lot!

Pros: Very comfortable room. Beautiful building.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: It has a lot of character and style which we really like.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really accessible for a weekend break from UK, only 39 minutes from Calais. Charming château with excellent restaurant.
Cons: Bathroom cramped, but room was in top of chateau so understandable, ventilation in bathroom somewhat inefficient!
7.1 Good
Pros: Room very small but perfectly adequate. Hotel a little remote in the country but then we knew that.
Cons: Room was very hot (much better than being freezing I know) and only two large windows to open which would not have been suitable during the night - hey ho that’s a chateau for you.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location, good breakfast, comfortable and relaxing environment
Cons: Nothing of note
7.9 Good
Pros: Spacious & airy pavilion room with access to a garden. Very dog friendly. Helpful reception staff.
Cons: The almost empty restaurant at 8.30pm & a rather limited menu. Service was slow & rather unprofessional (despite the restaurant only having 5 tables of people). The food was ok but not great.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location lovely grounds
Cons: Hotel very tired and needs a complete refurb. Especially as it is a chateau and history. I would not expect such a tired hotel.
7.9 Good
Pros: Relaxing place and enjoyable indoor pool
Cons: The room was incredibly small for what we were paying
