You get what you pay for. Last time ever at a Campanile
Excellent location from ferry port
Excellent staff, bilingual, very friendly, very hard working! The room smelled of cigarette smoke, but apart from that was spotlessly clean and adequate.
The convenience for the ferry from England.
Good value for money, clean
These Hotels are satisfactory but fairly basic. The meal in the restaurant was good and no complaints with the breakfast. The welcome could have been much improved.
omfortable basic hotel for short stay
Rooms good size, clean and airy. Bath available. Central to area for touring. Impressed by the 3 staff at the evening meal for the way they coped with serving us as well as a 20+ sports team in a very timely fashion. Room was smoky although non smoking sign on door. Room close to road subject to traffic noise. Thin walls meant that noisy guests were annoying.
will be going back in 6 weeks, same hotel 10/10
Convenient location, easy booking Lack of instructions and information in English
Peaceful. Lovely swimming pool. Although no restaurant was easy walking distance of several good restaurants. Interesting history from 1st world war. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times but when we had an accident in our car they transported us to the ferry for our return journey home. Over and above the call of duty. With many thanks to Justine and all the lovely staff on duty day and night.
Absolutely lovely Hotel. Fantastic setting on top of a hill, with amazing views. Peaceful, comfortable rooms, very imaginatively decorated. Very friendly staff and generally lovely ambiance
The tranquillity and view were superb would have to be very lucky to find another as good. At the time we stayed it lacked atmosphere as it was very very quiet, think only one other couple were staying.
We liked the location, the amazing views from the room and the building's character.
Excellent room, service, breakfast. Theme rooms were great fun. Travelled with parents and other family member they had great rooms and enjoyable stay. No bad points.
The hotel was in a good location, the room was really nice with a huge bathroom and lots of space. The breakfast is very overpriced at 12.50 euros per person and the room had an overpowering smell of perfumed cleaner so we had to open all the windows to clear the smell a bit.
Superb! We had a 7 hour drive from Switzerland to UK and wanted to stay somewhere en route near Calais. There are not many hotels near Calais like this one. Off the beaten track, but only 40 minutes drive to the ports in the morning. Fantastic room (Moulin Rouge suite) and just a generally high quality feel to the whole place. Only continental breakfast available and we thought the bread/croissants/jam already on our table was it, however more followed including hot crepes, fruit, cheese, ham etc. Nothing to complain about, but 2 observations: 1) There is only a small car park which has quite a tight entrance. Max 4 cars which might be a problem in high season. However, it does feel very secure as you are parked literally at the front door and overlooked by reception. At busier times, there is parking at the rear of the hotel. 2) The hotel did not offer evening meals when we stayed (end Sept). Initially we thought this a poor situation, but the staff were able to provide a list of recommended local restaurants many of which were only a short walk away. Our trip to the Kasteelhof Restaurant proved memorable as it was very rustic and full of local charm and surprisingly inexpensive.
Plenty of space, large bedroom with comfortable bed. Lovely view from breakfast room & balcony. Smell of air freshener / incense(?) when first arrived in room.
Unique decor and history of hotel, located in a spectacular French small town.
Layout of cottage was excellent, especially as we had dogs. No staff spoke any English. No restaurant. Unable to work tv system correctly - only 4 channels available and all were French. Roof had leaked onto bed so bedclothes were wet and stained - it appeared that the room had not been checked prior to occupation (other than to turn on some heating) and had not been used for some time. Glass door on single toilet, which was right next to kitchen, was not appropriate. Access to main hotel from the cottage was difficult due to lack of lighting and no directions so had to access by walking back round from main road. Information in room suggested that breakfast was available in the room but this was not the case (having called a french speaking friend to translate for us).
Nothing interesting The receptionist was not welcoming, the prices were different to online booking
The room was unbelievably small for a twin bed room - barely room to get out of bed on one side and no space between the beds.
The location is good, just outside the ferry terminal, ideal for an overnight stay. Staff are very friendly. The facillities and bar is adequate and comfortable
No decent restaurant within walking distance
the amount of cigarette smoke around the entrance and gets upsatirs to the none smoking area..also the room heating were much too hot
car Park was good. Wall was dirty, bed uncomfortable (narrow and dipped) and room small.
Value for money Room was quite small
buget hotel clean but very compact I booked online at a price of 55euros and was charged 73euros I am very unhappy about that. I had not reallized until 2 days later when I got online in France
Clean, good selection for breakfast, pleasant staff, well situated
Good ensuite with hairdryer. Quiet location. Easy access from motorway. Flat screen tv with a couple of English channels (volume was limited - a little too low for us but used subtitles.) Would have liked a telephone, kettle and fridge.
Polite, helpful staff, beautifully refurbished hotel, peaceful location.
Great location. Just off motorway & only 30mins from ferry port. Food excellent & very good value.
The young owners were enthusiastic and worked hard to please. The hotel had recently been refurbed and was modern and spotless. The food was excellent freshly prepared basic fayre, generous portions and good value. There was a large english group celebrating a 60th birthday, they were treated excellently and made to feel special. The 5 minute walk to maries cafe for a beer or coffee and a game of the most unusual blow football was a super experience. All within a 5 minute drive of the A26 motorway. Definitely re-book.
The position of the room round the corner from the indoor swimming pool, and the fantastic restaurant. The unheated corridor from the room to the pool! Although we could have used the dressing-gowns and slippers if we had known about them! ie only saw them on a chair in the hallway when we were leaving the hotel..Perhaps they should be in the rooms with the pool towels?
TheChateau , the Quality of the food and the service from the staff was excellent. no
A really pleasurable stay. The dinner was a high point. If we were staying for longer, the lack of drawers for clothes would have been a problem
The hotel is in a beautiful garden setting, which is most relaxing. Food and service excellent.
Excellent service, nice room, excellent restaurant Nothing I disliked but tea and coffee making facilities in the room and BBC on the television would be nice.
I liked the situation of the building set in parkand. The facilities in the hotel are very good. Architecture most impressive Signposting to the hotel was good. Staff excellent. Dinner, the service and the dining room were all very good. There were two simple matters which I feel should be rectified and should not have occured in a hotel of this standing. a) The handbasin in my room was badly cracked and had been so for some time. b) At breakfast coffee cup which I was served with had an unsightly crack in it. I felt this should also not have occured. These two matters spoilt to some extent an otherwise perfect experience.
Staff were very nice, spoke good English. Comfort Room was just about big enough but had an excellent bed. Food and wine was superb in a lovely annexe resturant (the old stables). No issues
walking round the outside of the building. Having our breakfast in my daughters room. It was a lovely room and had tea and coffee facilities. the room needed updating,,no tea and coffee facilities. Furniture was rusty and stains on the chair. Not good value for Money.
The staff were excellent and the food fantastic. Slight issue with noise in rooms
The setting was brilliant and only 30 mins from the Ferry port made it an excellent choice. The resturant food for Dinner and breakfast was excellent both in terms of choice, quality, servcie and cost. The fact that there are no shower screens over the bath. This caused a lot of unneccessary water on the floor. Not good for the environment in respect of cutting down on towel usage.
The breakfast was O.K. The Hotel is basicly made up of small ships cabins, and there-fore there is not much room. The washing basin was very small that it was difficult to have a shave, and the toilet did not flush properly
Disgusting will never use again or reccomend Magots in rrom, dirty bedlinen,no plates for toast,no spoons for ceral,,,shower dangerous andnot able to use as it would have flodded the bathroom, unless you are a stick insect showers no use
Located near a Carrefour hypermarket, so easy for shopping. Basic accomodation at a very reasonable price. Room was basic and rather noisey, could hear people walking about above us all night.
Friendly staff, handy location to Port for ferry to UK Very limited services but next door an excellent restaurant in a sister hotel.
closness to port
Close to large hypermarket and other shops, very cheap for basic accomodation. Smell from the toilet into the sleeping area, as it only has a concertina type plastic door.
A very basic, cheap hotel right by a shopping mall. Everything you need is more or less there - it served its purpose as a stop over before the ferry. The hotel could probably be improved in every area, but then the price would need to go up as well. You get possibly more that the price would suggest.
The breakfast was excellent, being able to eat and drink as much we liked. The location and disabled parking facility were good. the room was very clean. The room was cramped and bathroom was diabolically small. The shower was virtually unusable due to it's size. No tea or coffee making facilities, ie no kettle.
Breakfast availability was helpful and v good value. It was also v reasonably priced.Room heaters were effctive which helped in the cold weather. It was v noisy, being on a commercial estate and near to a busy main road. Also it was motel style and people were arriving and leaving all night. It was also v difficult to find from Dunkerque port.
Handy for the ferry Very busy due to good location fron the ferry made it a little noisey
Close to city center Very expensive meals compared to rest of city.
Courtesy of hotel and restaurant staff. Willingness to help.
The location for St Omer was good We asked for a refurbished room, which was really basic. First room offered was a double rather than a twin, so had to be moved. Was nothing like the pictures on the internet.
comfortable room Too close to noisy night club so didn't get much sleep
The room was modern, spacious and comfortable. The hotel was well situated and in easy walking distance of the town. It was very quiet at night.
Ideally situated to where we wanted to stay. Free car park.
Overnight stop only. Quick walk around the town and then to a restaurant You obviously have a problem with hard water. All the tap and shower nozzles need 'de-coking' with a wash in vinegar or some other acid. Only other issue for us was that the headroom on one side of the room was very low because of the eaves.
Restaurant. Location. Parking.
Friendly welcome and good restaurant.
Receptionists very helpful. Breakfast good. Location excellent, not in noisy town centre but easy walking distance.
It was just what we wanted. Very clean and quiet. Staff very helpful.
OK for over night stop - not as good as the Kyriad across the road
Close to the port and easy to find There seemed to be some strange things happening in the nearby hotels like fires outside.
It was clean and had all the basic requirements for one night's stay. The booking process was efficient. The staff had good knowledge of the local area to make recommendations, such as the best beach.
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was a bit small but OK for a family of five. It was a bit expensive.
restaurant was good no secure parking.breakfast was far too expensive -9 euros is too much.5 euros would be enough
It was very quiet at night and perfect for relaxing. It was far from the city of Dunquerke (10-15min by car) very close to an industrial area. The roads dont have light at night, which I found dangerous.
de otters campanille or better tis is bad, bad;bad everything exept de staff was bad
Only Location Did not eat at hotel because menu same as in Paris and very limited
Quiet location, adequate facilities for a budget hotel. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Limited parking, could have been a problem at a busy time.
Very welcoming family run. Rooms simple but very clean. Food in evening and breakfast well presented and good value. Would stay again.
The staff were very helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble, the food was very enjoyable.
Very friendly and helpful staff. None
Room was clean and shower was good although somewhat cramped with nowhere to put toiletries. Breakfast was good. Very small room making it very difficult to move around the bed. My wife is disabled and we requested a disabled room or a ground floor one.The room was on the first floor up very steep, narrow and twisting stairs. If we had been given this information when booking or soon afterwards we would have declined the reservation.
Very comfortable, excellent food None
it was convenient for us and we like this area and found it easily, reasonable too. breakfast could have been better, not good value for 6euros although french stick and croissant very fresh. felt sorry for the goldfish in a flower vase in restaurant area though-needs proper tank, plants and a mate.Shower bordering on dangerous, flitting from freezing to boiling when fractionally just touched.
very freindly family run hotel. Good food reasonably priced. Nice French village location, near to cross channel ferries. Clean room and linen. The staircase was very winding, but did add a little charm.
Recently refurbished room. Hotel V. convenient for ferry. Could not completely turn off main light in bedroom.
Very helpful, even though we arrived just as the restaurant was closing the kitchen staff still provided meals. Location map shows hotel in wrong location.
Very friendly staff who, although do not speak very good english, will go to great pains to accomodate your every wish. Lovely food. Rooms are a little basic (although great for the price) and the bathroom had no shower, only a bath with attachment. We have stayed in the autumn and the room had no heating.
Beautiful location, very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Arrived at check-in time - room was freezing cold. Heater was provided though.
Quiet relaxing stay with excellent food and wine at reasonable prices. The central heating was on and topped up with heaters, so although the weather was cold the hotel was warm. The lounge was a bit dark , Iit was a pity that their was no log fire
Although it wasn't a "smart" hotel, its rooms were slightly dated, it had a certain charm and the friendly staff were excellent and welcoming.
This is a charming place to stay, perfect if you are looking for somewhere far from the attractions of the city with a rustic atmosphere. It is set in beautiful countryside and the one dinner I had there was excellent. I found the breakfast perfectly adequate. The dining room has a marvellous tiled floor.
Friendly staff and lovely food. Cold, but it was snowing outside!
The position of the hotel is in a quiet, rural location good for walking. The building is old and full of character. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom a good size. It was good to have a bathr rather than a shower although this may not suit everyone. Ideal distance from Calais for an overnight stay. The rooms are rather basic. The towels and linen are quite old and worn. The food was of a very low standard. There was a power cut to the bedrooms in the morning so we had no light or hot water.
Fast check in very polite and efficent. Excellent food and brilliant waiting staff Some rooms above restraunt can be noisy if people still using and again in the morning drinks are quite expensive but this seems the norm in france.
Excellent Restaurant for an evening meal.
The food was excellent in the restaurant. We were the only English people staying there.
It was easy to find, the bed was comfortable. Depending where your room was could be noisy from lorries and trains going to the docks. Difficult to get a taxi as it is a good way out of town and the taxi as very expensive because of this.
location to ferry ports and access to motorways , and very quiet except for the doors when they close
the weather the sizes of the rooms if i had known they were that small i wouldnt of stayed
Convenient location. Cheapest hotel in the area. Staff was helpful. Tiny room with "capsule" bathroom... felt like we were camping.
Friendly welcome by the receptionist who was most helpful to us with " service with a smile " . Have stayed here before and would recommend to anyone using the Norfolk Line ( sorry DFDS ) ferry Not too keen on hunt the toilet roll though in fairness there was a small notice that gave its position ! Bed was a little narrow but suited the size of the room .
very squeeky door, bathroom not clean, in both rooms we booked.
Convenient for the port. Cheap and easy to get to. We tried to check in at about 4pm, and could not get in the hotel. I rang the hotel and no-one answered, even though we the notice said that we should ring to get an answer. We rang the bell, as invited on the notice on the door, because the automatic booking in machine was not on. We rang again, just befor leaving to waste some time driving around, and the phone was answered by someone who said that he had been there in Reception. He had not been. We tried the door and it was firmly locked. We were given a tiny room, with a bed by the wall. We are senior citizens and like to be able to get in and out of bed, without climbing over each other. After complaing that the room was too small, we were given another much bigger room with 4 beds. We unpacked and later at night, after dinner, we pushed the button for the wc and the water would not stop! We complained again, and were then given another room, which was entirely suitable. It meant that we had to change rooms after midnight. Three times before we got the right room. We have decided that we will do our trip in one day now, and not bother staying overnight - which we have done on many occasions.
rooms are too small, noisy,
Friendly staff, easy check-in Very small and basic room, but that's what you are paying for
Easy to find; good space in cabins - upstairs rooms particularly good; excellent food; staff happy to accommodate special diets; reasonable rates no
The atmosphere was very welcoming. The owners were helpful and the waitresses were friendly and efficient. The setting is beautiful. No
The accommodation is excellent, nice bathroom etc. The restaurant is superb, having a wide range of menus to suit all tastes together with a good range of wine. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to have a really good meal though gourmet options are available. Like most Logis establishments, there are no facilities in the room to make a hot drink. There is no problem getting something from the staff in normal hours but I like a coffeeearly morning before I shower and get ready to meet people!
Superb, a real surprise, very welcoming, great accommodation in chalet type buildings(easy acess to outside for my dog ),spacious rooms and comfortable beds.Good resturant with good menus 22euros and more.Good access and near Calais for our final night ! Will recommend .
Our evening meal was superb, served in spacious dining room with views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were very helpful No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Loud television in the bar.
The new dining room is excellent. The room is light, airy, with a good view over the distant St. Omer. A choice of 4 menus offer a balanced variety of dishes. The food is well prepared, presented and of good quality offering excellent value for money. The staff are attentive, friendly and courteous. One thing we found disconcerting is that dogs are allowed into the dining room, not just small dogs either! And, no, it wasn't the French, Dutch, Belgians or Germans that brought them in, it was the British!. What is wrong with us? I love horses ....... The room offerd only a shower and not a bath.
The restaurant was closed - we had booked the hotel because of the restaurant write-up. We were told the bar was open but returned to the hotel at 9.00 pm after having to go into St Omer for dinner only to find the bar was also closed.
the new conservatory restaurant is superb and giving a far nicer lounge area noise of other guests in the same chalet block
Comfort of the room, peaceful location, excellent service, wonderful food. This hotel is one of the best in its class that I have stayed at, and thoroughly recommend it. Rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are beautifully comfortable. Nothing - everything was excellent
Lovely stay, great room,we ate in the restaurant and it's excellent. Fantastic hotel for golf or for one or two night stopover for ferry or tunnel.Recommended
Rooms lovely with modern furnishings. Free computer web access in the rooms and large selection of television channels.Beautiful view across the golf course. Friendly and attentive staff. Dining room and food excellent with a good menu. Breakfast selection excellent. Very clean.Good climate control. Good shower. The outdoor lights were very bright into our room when curtains closed but did not affect us much. The bath was lovely but a bit deep for climbing out following a shower, bit slippy. We could hear people walking about on the tiled floor beneath our room. Non of the above spoilt or affected our stay.
Beautiful location; very comfortable room with lovely views. Very slow bar service; kitchen out of order on first night. Poor breakfast selection and impossible service - some of the staff were not V. friendly. Only one poor guy running around the dining room trying to get drinks for everyone. No croissants or pain au raisin etc.
The location of the hotel, the decor and cleanliness and facilities were excellent. The view from our bedroom window was beautiful. The staff could not have been more welcomimg and helpful. The standard of the cuisine was wonderful. A very minor criticism - the menu was the same for dinner each evening of our stay - but the food was wonderful
Clean, Contemporary style. Nice rooms. Nice views. Nice staff. Generally a good place to stay. Accepts pets. - We had took a dog. Car parking - not enough space between cars. Plus, it was totally full when I visited. Couldn't eat in the dinning room - full ! Should have reserved, however, the Internet booking does not make provision for making a reservation in the dinning room.
Rooms were excellent , mattress & bedding were fist class. Indoor pool would have been nice, would have occupied the kids.
Great staff, very helpful and brilliant english, thank you, asked for directions to calais and night manager got us to follow him all the way couldn't been more helpful. When we checked in, we asked about evening meal only to be told that the restaurant was fully booked, after travelling 10hrs this wasn't good news, their should be notes about this when booking your room!!! As i've written before the staff were so helpful that we were squeezed in later, but as residents we should automatic seats in resturant as hotel in middle of no where.
Pleasant staff .Clean, modern environment. Moderately priced.A little off the beaten track for security and tranquility.
