Ok. Noise from downstairs and street
Good location for village, good restaurant, they arranged for (6) motorcycles to be garaged undercover. Handy walking distance to centre of village.
Friendly staff. On noisy street. No A/C.
Very friendly and helpful staff The decor was a little dated throughout
Very professional, friendly staff, lovely location and great food.
This was typical good German hospitality with comfortable rooms and very hearty meals.
I only stayed 1 night but the staff and facilities were excelent.
Friendly willing to please staff on all levels
The waitresses were very nice.
A good situation, old family-driven hotel, good breakfeast, old buildning was a little too old, but all functioned well. No
Large rooms. No lift. Decor needed updating. Bathroom was very small and the cistern repeatedly broke - luckily my husband was able to put it back together. Outside the hotel was a kebab shop that was very noisy until the early hours of the morning.
Apartment was clean with a nice sitting room. Pretty location. Had washers and dryers. One of the washing machines didn't work. Staff didn't know much about operating the machines. Response to button to exit parking area was poor. We had to walk inside to get the staff's attention and even then they were on the phone and we had to wait.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly The third bed was not made up on arrival - although once this was raised it was resolved quickly
Excellent location a few minutes walk from the Bahnhof (town railroad station).. Very helpful and accomodating front desk staff and a wonderful and excellent breakfast. Room was adequate.
Good location and very comfortable.
Nice location close to but outside busy Munich. Easy to reach by suburban train. Family atmosphere. The sound protection of the room could be better in terms on external noise (train) and internal (between the rooms).
The location is wonderful. Starnberg is beautiful and the lake and train station are across the road. There is no lift and the creaky winding staircase was a shock at first- but soon appreciated as a training ground for the eifal tower later on!
Friendly helpful staff
Beautifully kept, historic building. Lovely cafe attached, yummy breakfast!
Excellent breakfast, friendly servive, nice decor in the rooms
friendly atmosphere, very helpfull stuff,
The staffs are kind and facility is good and clean. but, They wanted payment in cash only. Because of this, I went to bank to draw money!!!!!!!!!!
We enjoyed Garbrille's enthusiastic approach to her job as owner and operator of the Romantic VIlla. Her recommendations were spot on. Breakfast was wonderful. We had a private, separate apartment. The only flaw was that the sinks and shower where on the floor with the bedroom, but the toilet was a flight of stairs down. It was a minor inconvenience.
Location near the lake was great. Also close to station and only an hour into Munich. Breakfast service is a bit slow as there is only one person. One day we were there at breakfast opening time and took a long time to get tea/coffee and juice. Second day we were there late (but before closing) and many breakfast items had run out and were not replenished. The rooms are old, the bathrooms need renovating.
The owner of the hotel is delightful and his staff were all very helpful
Everything was nice. Its comfortable family-run hotel. Perfect breakfast, free wi-fi. Nice place to make a break. Easy to stay with 2-mounth baby.
The hotel is located in a beautiful little country town within easy walking distance of the lake, restaurants and shops. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was top notch. We would definately return again.
The owner took the time to explain the hotel and his staff was very helpful. Excellent location and easy to get to Munich. I liked everything.
The hotal was very quiet and the room very confortable and very well equipped : hair dryer, balcony... The parking is small
The location was close to the lake and a number of restaurants as well as been in a qiet spot. The rooms are super comfortable, great shower and bathroom, big balcony. Ask for an extra pillow at reception as there isn't one in the room.
Very friendly staff and helped with a few questions we had None
It was a straightforward family run hotel. Good position in a pleasant village near a stunning lake. The hosts were engaging and enthusiastic and ensured we had a carefree saty. The evening dinner is a cut above the norm.
Staff, breakfast and location
Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were given a tour as soon as we arrived and allowed to use all the spa facilities whenever we wanted. The entire staff spoke English, and they were willing to take the time to translate things for us. They always had helpful tips and aided us with our adventures. They helped us buy tickets for the Passion Play, helped us find authentic local restaurants, made us bagged lunches for our visit to the castle, and provided directions and supplies for our hike thru the mountains. Included in our stay was an excellent breakfast buffet with fresh ingredients and surprises every morning. The main draw of this hotel was its world class dinners. There was always a distinctly German fare with a gourmet twist and delicious local beers (sometimes on the house) to round out the meal. Our first time to Germany Das Johannesbad made us feel right at home. Parking. Later in our stay we found an auxilary lot around the side, about 200 meters away. This alleviated the problem.
Almost everything TV selections not good. Missing Italian and general english channels. I find the fact that WLAN is not included in the price ridicoulous. Just increase the room rate a bit and make it included.
The hotel has very nice swimmingpool and large fitness area. Dinner was wonderful. This hotel is more for bussiness men and conferences, than for vacation.
Location close to the lake and trains for Munich also was very quiet.
Reception and all staff welcomming. The wellness centre was superb in inclement weather Breakfast was a big choice with cerials fresh rolls and and different breads together with slices of cheeses and hams. Cooked eggs bacon sausages and lashings of fresh coffee. I forgot the fresh fruit and well it just went on and on.Reception booked a show in Munich for us and we spent the 10days swimming in the Lake and walking in the surrounding countryside. What a wonderfull way to get over a recent spine opporation. We did not use the Squash courts or the hi tech golf room or the resident Doctors but did relax in the sauna. Thanks for a super break Les & Trixie.
Nice room.Friendly Staff in restaurant.Nice swimming pool.Good location. Senior staff a little officious and lack hands on involvement.Staff need better training.A stopover for tour parties means private guests less well catered for.
Nice location, and very quiet hotel. Internet access is too expensive comparied with other hotels.
the entrance to some of the rooms (which were on a separate pavillon), was where they kept the hotel garbage !!
Comfortable and clean hotel The hotel was not located directly at the lake - We had no view on the lake. About that we were somewhat disappointed.
Facilities, helpful and friendly staff
Great location directly on Starnberger See - a beautiful spot. Located in Leoni which is, thankfully, away from Starnberg itself - a little quieter if you really want to enjoy the location, but only a 7 min drive if you need to go there. Beautiful surrounds and walks - perfect for wandering, relaxing, bike riding etc.
Location is very good right on the lake, with lakeside dining, -- weather permitting. It thinks it is much better than it really is ! For this class of hotel ( 4* ) it needs air conditioning and a decent lift! Room was fine, but had nowhere to put suitcases if you did not want to fully unpack. However the biggest problem was the noise from smokers congregating at the front door and laughing and shouting until 3 am. Everything was overpriced for what it was.
lakeside and good kitchen room 126 is a room over the staffentrance/delivery and very noisy, staff stands outside talkingboth late and early morning while smoking.not so nice! we had 2 rooms
Location on the Starnberger See was superb with a ferry pier next to the hotel, making it ideal for a long walk and a ferry back. Even though our room did not have a view of the lake it was comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant menu was original and varied and the food of high quality. The terrace on the lakeside is great both for summer meals or drinks. Free parking was a bonus.
Breakfast on the veranda was sublime. No air-conditioning, so got very warm at night (mid-July)
The view 1-When I arrive to the hotel the give me a room without a lake viow and I asked them to give me a room with a lake viow same the Picture that I reserved in booking.com ,but the hotel told me I have to paid 20 euro extra for that...!! 2-The hotel staff never smiling ..!! 3- the breekfast was very bad.....4-hotel staff was unhelpful and they dont care for guests
The biggest advantage of the hotel is the location itself. Quite, relaxing place, directly located at the lake with a stunning view to the Alps if the weather is nice. At the breakfast buffet there was not as much variety as you expect in a 4 star hotel.
Very nice breakfast, good accomodation, friendly hotel staff, very nice spa facilities and right on to the lake. Very little provision for families with small children. not recommended for families, but more for couples of a certain age category.
Staff friendly and effective. Rooms big and new. Restaurant excellent. Highly recommended. Great value for money.
Excellent location at Berg. Very good breakfast and restaurant although a bit overpriced. Free wi-fi. Very clean rooms and the hotel staff were very helpful. A bit noisy at nights if your room is facing the road and not the lake. At our first night there was a wedding reception at the hotel's restaurant and we were told that we could not use the bar! Shame especially during the Oktoberfest period. Very small elevator for a 4 star hotel and 70 rooms.
Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Conveniently situated in the centre of the town. Bedrooms were a little tired and need updating.
good location and neat and clean rooms. Free WiFi.
Staff were very helpful and went out of way to help It was very, very old fashioned, dreary and out of date. The price was an absolute disgrace and i felt the lady who checked me in actually knew that we were being ripped off. This should not be a standard for booking.com and especially at that price. we were outraged. We had no choice to stay here as we could not find another hotel in the town on the internet - buyer's market!!!
Pleasant staff. Good internet. easy to find and easy parking. Simple accommodation. I felt it was a over priced, but I think Americans feel all of Europe is overpriced for us with dollars now, 2009. The hotel is old and has not been well maintained.
visiting castles, countryside
The staff was friendly and spoke english. They allowed us to choose the room we liked the best for no additional charge. When we arrived a festival was going on outside the hotel. Great location for our trip. Would book again.
We enjoyed being right in the centre of this small town which had easy access to other towns along the Romantic Strasse. The cafe/ restaurant attached provided good meals and had friendly service.
Extremely comfortable, more upmarket than my usual choice but chosen to stay with friends. Unfortunately a little far from Oberammergau. Would be nice for a relaxing holiday by lake with some walking. All printed information in rooms was in German. My German is limited and while it should not be necessary, these days it is usual to find English translations. Probably the hotel does not have a large non-German clientele except in Passion Play years. However the staff all spoke good English and were willing to help.
Great staff and well kept hotel Price, although this was partly because the Euro exchange rate makes it expensive for us to go to Germany at the moment
The staff was very accommodating, and I especially enjoyed the pool and saunas! The food at the buffet was very good. We were in the area to see the Passion Play, and the hotel was about 1/2 hour drive, other than that no complaints.
Great breakfast buffet. Restaurant service very good. Cordial and accommodating staff. Beautiful surroundings. Very limited hotel literature in English. Lack of English translations for room instructions, etc.
Clean, good facilities including kitchen with utensils, toaster, oven, electric hobs. Swimming, sauna, excellent value for money. Free parking. We booked the holiday rooms. These are practically suites! Friendly staff. Shower curtains needed for the bathtub. The water spills into the floor.
Resturant hardly had any food, had to find fod at other places
Friendliness and service of staff Cash only basis created problems
Wonderful place! very beautifull surroundings, very nice staff. perfect for a few days of rest in a quiet and cosy place in Alps
typical bavarian hotel - friendly staff and reasonably situated for the village
Swimming / Bathing facilities are really nice. Very quiet, nice staff. The location is quite pleasant, but requires transportation facilities (a bit far from Murnau and from the train stations). Nothing.
Over all the cleaniness and facilities. no
Clean and comfortable accommodations with a welcoming staff, a nice place to relax in a laid back atmosphere. Our friends have two young children and the family suite with pull out couch worked great for them. The patios off the ground level were made private by a little wall, but were not completely enclosed so we could visit outside with our friends staying the next room.
Beautiful location, staff was very friendly.
Just one night stopover en-route to Eastern Europe, but clean comfortable room & facilities and excellent continental breakfast. Shame there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but this is no different from most Hotels I stayed in. (Think it's a "British" thing - we do like a caffine hit before breakfast!)
Real luxury hotel with good restaurant and very friendly staff, nice view of the mountains. Good swimming pool and spa.
The friendlyness of staff and the surroundings. Clearly this hotel does not meet the standards of SLH: it is neither small nor luxury. The furniture and decoration in the room and in the restaurant/lobby is old fashioned and used. The swimming pool has not been redone for ages. This hotel urgently needs to be refurbished and modernised. Overpriced!
Staff were very helpful. The restaurant was frequented by annoying insects (e.g. flies). The staff explained that this happens in spring time.
The Alpenhof hotel is a great hotel set in lovely countryside and close to most of the main attractions in southwest Baveria. The hotel staff were very helpful and wellcoming, we were offered a glass of champagne on arrival which was very welcome. The hotel has two good restaurants , 1 mitchellin rated but the local town of Murnau offers several other restaurants. There was a small minibar of beer and soft drinks included in the room price. The spar facilities are excellent, indeed the best I have seen in a hotel. So if you are looking for a relaxing break with a touch of luxury this is a hotel worth considering. The beds are very firm and not the type of luxury beds you would expect from a 5star hotel
The spa facilities are excellent
Dear Madams and sirs, I would like to thank you for your kindness and understanding. Indeed my stay at your hotel has been beyond delightful and very relaxing which helped me a lot facing the situation that is now occurring. You have made my stay here in Murnau very pleasant and much easier. Furthermore i spent a wonderful new year thanks to your manager and his team. Last but not least, i would like to stress on the fact that your hotel is very comforting and well organized. It has top quality service and it has been a very welcoming place. I look forward to my next stay in your hotel. Yours sincerely, Mr. Salem Al Zaabi
STaff were very helpful; hotel is beautifully decorated; location very good, especially being close to s bahn
The warm and friendly staff and ambience created a very welcoming atmosphere and a feeling of beeing at home.
Near lake, promenade, beach, boat excursions. Used it as base for trips to Munich with the S-Bahn. Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast room, good breakfast. Adequate parking without charge. 7 minute walk to train station.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful.
Nice and quiet, great breakfast, excellent service, near to the seepromenade and the city center, only 15 minutes from munich. No privacy in rooms, only if needed , curtains should be closed.
This is a nice small hotel with very friendly staff. It's in a great quiet location only a 5 minute walk from the train station and lake with many nearby restaurants. Only a 25 minute train trip to the centre of Munich. Good quality breakfast.
Beautifulk room, very, very clean;all possible facilities (nice touch inclusing fresh flowers in the room) No lift but helpful staff
Very good all round hotel. It was very expensive for the facilities provided.
The staff was wonderful. We appreciated the information given about places to eat, and directions for the next day. He was very pleasant. Only that we did want seperate beds, but on the short notice that we gave it was fine to share a bed.
Location, friendly staff and good breakfast
clean adn cosy Was a bit more pricey than I hoped to pay, but there was limited availaibilty in the area so that was just the way it was
What a find! We thought everything was perfect! We stayed 2 nights. Room was good size and comfortable. Modern coffee maker in room, along with stocked mini fridge. Beds were very comfortable with individual duvets. Parking convenient (12 euro/night), breakfast was plentiful with many offerings, and above all, service was impecable. Friendly, courteous and responsive. Beautifully decorated, clean and new. I've stayed in 5 stars that weren't this nice! One added bonus was the large window in the shower overlooking the beds, had electronic shades between the glass for privacy and there were heat lamps and towel warmers in the bathroom. Thick plush towels, granite. Very high finishes and high quality. We will definitely stay here again! Could have used another pillow. We arrived very late both nights back and crashed into bed. Kept meaning to ask for another pillow, but it was so late, we were just too tired. The pillows are either down or something like it, so they are very flat when you put your head down.
Comfort, quakity of accommodation and meals, good customer service at all times
I was delighted by the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff
Nice breakfast... very helpful receiptioinst named AnnaMarie
the room was clean, warm and the breakfast was excellent
Hotel staff was wonderful and friendly. I was only in this hotel for 3 nights. One day I walked into the hotel lobby and was greeted by name by the staff at the hotel. I had problems getting my wireless to work in my room and one of the staff came up to my room to help me. Staff always friendly!
-People/Staff very friendly and breakfast great. -Engine noise all night, couldn't sleep at all...so no good. Dont' know if this was the lift noise or what it was..., didn't sleep the whole night.-Internet conection really weak....gets disconected all the time.-If you go there with the idea of going to an SPA, just forget it. There is just sauna and turkish bath which for me is not an SPA. No treatments like wraps or what so ever...Wanted a back massage and finally the lady did what she wanted, body massage, which is not bad but not great and anyway not what i was looking for.
Very accommodating, nice friendly bar, ability to conduct meetings in public area.Quiet and very civil. English well spoken by all. Hotel restaurant , overbearing and pretentious service not matching the food quality.
Excellent breakfast and sauna. Not good clean of room.
The location was close to the lake and walking possibilities, good room, nice view. Good opportunities around to eat well, friendly hotel staff. Bathroom had no ventilation, the road is fairly busy on workdays.
Ideal location at station and overlooking scenic lake. Our 3rd floor room looked over the lake towards Bavarian Alps. Very good and frequent commuter train access to Munich. Good English spoken by hotel staff. Pleasant breakfasts. Good (Italian) restaurant in hotel. None apparent.
the frindly reception comfortable room
We had a stunning view of the Starnberg See from all three windows in our room!
Central location, near the train station. Poor breakfast, not enough parking places
The best thing about this hotel is the location, right opposite the railway station with views over the lake. Also close to restaurants shops etc.The staff were also very friendly and bedrooms are large and very clean. Our dog was also very welcome at the hotel. The description stated free car parking, however although there were a few hotel spaces at the rear/side of the building, we weren't offered these, but given a discount at the public underground car park at the side of the hotel. This worked out at 4 Euros per day. We were leaving on a Sunday morning and noticed the car park did not open until 9am so we were unable to leave before then. The hotel restaurant, although very popular, did not live up to our expectations - side salad with no dressing whatsoever and very dry.
The staff was very helpful and accomodating especially, Melanie, one of the desk managers Lack of Air conditioning could be problem invery hot weather-It was ok when we were there.
Evening receptionist was outstanding - courteous, efficient, knowledgable, pleasant. None
The staff at the hotel was super friendly. Although the hotel is not on the lake, it offers excellent access to the trains to munich, restaurants and the Starnberg shopping district. the rooms were very clean. I had high windows in my room which made me feel a little claustrophobic but the rest of the amneties and the price made up for this.
excellent location outside munich but worth the 30 minutes train journey
Fantastic mountain view from this hotel, clean comfortable rooms, excellent food, very attentive staff, great pool, good exercise room and spa facilities. lack of air conditioning, but common in this region.
The restaurant staff provided very friendly and efficient service and the front desk personnel were helpful in arranging an additional nights stay to my reservation. My room provided a nice balcony and view of the Bavarian Alps. The breakfast had a great variety but had I known it was going to cost 14 euro I would have eaten more. Spa services should also have phamplets in English.
service i've seen better breakfast arrangements, in the region
the staff was freindly, the room was excellent
Very nice room, great spa & wellness facilities, good breakfast, very close to ski resort. Far from train or bus station. English information does not exist at all. Movies on tv only in German.
Very nice typical bavarian place. Hospitable and pleasant staff. Large and clean. Good bavarian dinner. A place to stay !
Not a bad place to stay, room was nice, staff and location ok. Need a gps to find in the dark
Beautiful Bavarian house with a great restaurant. We were surprised how expensive the taxis were! We took the train from Munich (19euro) then the taxi to Der Obere was 16euro. To go to Andechs brewery and back was another 25euro r/t. Then a taxi back to the train station was 15. We should have rented a car!
Great food frindly staff. Excellent English. Close to the must see destination of Kloster Andechs. No hot water one day but staff very apologetic and fixed straight away. Got a free beer as compensation
The staff helpfullness, guest-friendly attitude, very clean and homey environment, attention to detail throughout the premises , the cozy and neat ambience at the restaurant, the great food, great breakfast including freshly cooked eggs and fresh croissants/ brezels , the super quiet green surroundings . None.( Parking may be a problem at busy times/periods - and wifi is not working properly throughout the premises and rooms, works just in some areas , but ok and free).
Lovely and friendly evening receptionist..wow!! No it was perfect for my needs! I'd stay again withour hesitation.
Nice location (rooms to the public park); good opportunities for walking/hiking; very decent food; kind staff, very responsive to our needs ---
Our room, called The Library, looked brand new. The heavy dark wood furnishings, the tile floor, the well-appointed bathroom were all impeccable. They used all the best materials. In summary: beautiful and relaxing. The only thing the hotel could improve upon is signage. The name on the building is in stylized handwriting. I was just a house away while trying to find it, and thought it was only a restaurant...which it is, on the first floor.
