9.5 Excellent
Pros: Authentic historic home hosted by knowledgeable family and staff. The most environmentally aware hotel I have seen - ground source heating, solar panels. Car charging point very useful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed with beautiful linen and comfy pillows. The evening meals were well presented, delicious and with very good quality ingredients. The wine list was good and we were delighted with the English white that we tried. The staff were very friendly and the owners very informative and interesting about this historic property. We had the cedar family suite which is not in the hall itself and gave us a two bedroom, self contained unit with a good shower. Although not an historic building it gave us our own sitting out area and lawns. It was quiet and suited our requirements perfectly - somewhere I would recommend to families or friends perhaps who are walking and cycling in the area so might infact prefer this more casual accommodation.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, dog freindly, bed comfy, good clean bathroom, view across fields.
Cons: Needs maintenace especially outside, sitting area layout odd, looks like an old folks home, replace the high back chairs with a sofa, so you can actually sit together. (other than the bathroom) needs refreshing inside, especially for £134 a night not including breakfast (£15) outside area to the right nerds tidying
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic food, Lovely staff and a rich been sent of history.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was a cosy two bedroom place with good size rooms. Linen was fresh and the views were lovely. The situation next to the fields made the place peaceful and quiet
Cons: The furniture was dated and the windowsills/mirrors were dusty and smeary. Some of the lightbulbs didn’t work.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Service personnel were both great. Lovely, interesting owners with really good eco-credentials. Good walks on the doorstep. Barrow Stones well worth a visit.
Cons: Maybe the windows in the dining room could be better cleaned?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful, the staff were friendly and made us feel very relaxed
Cons: We loved everything
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very old buildings steeped in history. Staff were very helpful and the girls were exceptional. Food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Jacuzzi bath didn’t seem to work.
10.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: Large bedroom, heating functioned well.
Cons: Difficulty in parking. Lack of bar service.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room was recently refurbished and redecorated.
Cons: First impressions very poor. The property looks run down and there is a smell of drains outside (perhaps from water leaking out of the ground and running into the road near the entrance). The entrance and “reception” areas are dingy and not very welcoming - all in all pretty off putting.
8.0 Excellent
