A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in very tasteful surroundings.A Lovely old house with attractive gardens (Still being worked on one side). The room with kingsize bed was very comfortable and the breakfast(My choice of scrambled egg and Sausage) was freshly cooked and delicious. I was sorry we could not have dined there the previous evening .I also appreciated the Fridge in the room which was well stocked. None
None Booked the hotel for two nights and a meal on the Friday...... Told I could not have the confirmed second night then told I could not have the meal on Friday............ Needless to say I went to another hotel that could meet our requirements
Character filled building and large rooms. The bathroom and general room decor needs updating. Downstairs areas are very clean and fresh, our room wasn't in comparison. Also, a cooked breakfast would have been nice for no additional charge instead of continental.
The hotel had decor which fitted with the style of the building. It was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The only thing I would say was that I missed having a bath but the shower was more than adequate.
Lovely building. My colleague arrived at 20.10 hrs after being held up in traffic. I advised that he would there around that time. The hotel information stated dinner finished at 20.30hrs but because the hotel was quiet, the kitchen staff decided to go home early so we had to find somewhere to eat outside of the hotel. Call me naive, but I thought hotels were supposed to provide a service.
Wonderful listed Georgian building. Large rooms. Bags of atmosphere. Very good dinner. Lovely location on edge of small town..
Breakfast Very nerow "double bed"
The Beds were so comfortable and the breakfast perfect nothing
Beautiful Georgian House with lovely squashy sofas in lounge. Lovely room and bathroom. Good food and friendly staff.
Great food and friendly staff Hotel still being renovated
room was lovely, nicely decorated, very clean and quiet. Breakfast was delicious.Manager/owner was very helpful. one member of staff on at breakfast time was not really on the ball which left guests confused as to what the system was for ordering and left us no time to eat a cooked breakfast. However, the man on duty was very efficient.
Good restaurant / bar ease of access I changed my booking (brought my daughter unexpectedly) - hotel happy to accommodate the change - very helpful
Convenient, provided what was necessary, breakfast good and environment very clean. Room rather small although adequate. Problems with the heating which were not told to us at time of booking although manager apologised profusely when we informed him and arranged for a fire for the room.
staffs are excellent no public transportation reach there
The lovely big fire which we sat beside when soaked through from watching the Carnival at Glastonbury in the heavy rain. the breakfast, especially the bacon. The fact that I could not have a shower as the shower door was not closing properly.
Convenient for the carnival procession jn the town. Nothing to complain about,
Ease of entry to rooms, no need to go though bars once you have checked in! Room 11 great for single stay, toilet paper the worst ever encountered!! Take your own for an otherwise pleasant stay!!
Clean tidy rooms with modern decor The room could have been a little larger
Staff very pleasant and helpful Very good and plentiful full English breakfast. Food was hot .Room clean and warm and bed was comfortable.Would book again.Good value
Lovely staff, very friendly. Stayed for Glastonbury Carnival, so the rate was a bargain. Would definitely recommend for a budget stay. Sunday breakfast served way too early, last sitting was 8.45 am.
Friendly atmosphere Hotel right on a Main road. Not happy with adhereance to Fire Regulations. Fire Extinguiser used to keep Hallway door open. Fire Alarm panel had many lights showing, suggesting it had problems. Fire Action card had no information on it about where to go in case of fire or any relevant information. WiFi would not work after first day
Olde World charm. Good selection of ale Poorly lit bathroom mirror and none whatsoever in bedroom
I was given an upgrade to a wonderful suite of rooms! really very good! The room was up a curved staircase and whilst I was having a good day with my condition I could manage to get up . However on a bad day and using my crutches I wouldnt be able to. There was a huge airconditioning unit on the roof of extension one floor below. It kept switching on and off every few minutes all night making sleep nearly impossible! I raised this in the morning and was given a £15 reduction in the fee. They said they usually turn it off at night - it ruined my stay
Friendly service, great location. no complaints
Breakfast didn't like the bucket catching rainwater in my bedroom, didn;t like the windows that wouldn't close nor the central heating that couldn't be turned down and old sponge pillows.
The building was built in the 15th century - and you can feel that when you first glance it, when you walk in, when you walk around, and even the room we were staying in was all crooked and ancient - but with all the modern facilities you would need, a perfect bathroom, convenient bed, lots of rooms to put your places in (tons of drawers). Staff was very friendly! The view from the room was not too good - through a tiny window I could see only the back of the rest of the buildings. Also, de food was quite delicious - but quite dear according to other places I've dined in the UK.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Decor needs a major facelift, food cools very quickly, Wi-Fi poor; Glastonbury closes very early, and runs on Central London prices.Limited food menu
Food was particularly good - rooms newly decorated - shower excellent small rooms
Hotel location - perfect! Dining room closed on Sunday night!!! No TV remote in room. TV not tuned up properly.
The historical settings The restaurant staff are not aware of good customer skills. We had a meal and when we decided to end it with a dessert, we were told the kitchens had already been closed. Nobody had informed us
I liked the old character and the food was fantastic. I thought the decor was great and the beds were really comfortable we stayed in a room at the front and the room was very bright from the street and hotel outside lights they need black out fabric backing the blind. The staff were polite but when we left we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay.
Best poached eggs in the world. Very efficient check-in/out. Very friendly staff. Local jam, art, etc on display and available to buy. Nice looking house. Big room. Free wi-fi. Room was very cold, shower didn't work, bath took a long time to fill. Car park was down a muddy poorly lit track.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights when visiting Glastonbury and Wells. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Very beautiful and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. The hotel is situated in a very peaceful location and ideal for exploring Summerset. Absolutely recommendable.
Positive & friendly attitude of the staff
exellent spacious room with character, good food, friendly staff and superb position for wild life. Only minutes from Glastonbury which has a number of good pubs and restaurants. nothing
the restaurant was closed
Very welcoming staff/owner, quiet location, spacious room, good breakfast there is nothing in Meare, not even a pub, so a car is a necessity, Glastonbury, Street and Wells an easy drive away
All of the hotel staff were polite and friendly. The complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits/spring water and especially the port & sherry were very welcome after a hard day's sightseeing! I was also pleased to see that the hotel appears to be wheelchair friendly, an important factor for the family staying in the room next to ours.
Very friendly all round. The food was excellent, it was easy to find and we would be more than happy to stay there again.
The Food was excellent & the bed very comfortable Although the only member of staff we met was very nice. She seemed disorganised. No info in the room..no phone. V. little hot water
Friendly owners and a lovely setting
Large, comfortable and well equipped room. Peaceful rural location. Great breakfast with cheerful serving staff. Difficult to find, but they do provide clear directions. No mention of wi-fi in its own directory.
Beautiful furnishings, very homely but luxurious at the same time, excellent full English breakfast.
room was big and comfortable and well-equipped cooked breakfast wasn't very generous
Our favourite hotel in Britain - its that good
the friendleness of the owners, and the food were superb nothing
Beryl is set in lovely grounds and the view from the bedroom was lovely. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice size modern bathroom.
Very Helpful, advised on local pubs, filled flask for our journey home, even though the weather was very cold that weekend the room temperature was perfect, obviously they had a good heating system
Charming and attentive. Lovely owner always available, helpful, whenever required. Would certainly book again. Nothing at all
the hospitality was second to none
Very little Staff - poorly trained or untrained - inefficient and at times argumentative Room - dark, badly planned, inadequate facilities Food - self-service, unhygenic, plain, terrible service
Room quality good. Peaceful. Nice views. Breakfast was poor quality.
We took our 17 month old to this hotel and I was particularly impressed with the level of service that he received. The staff made us all feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It was lovely to stay in a hotel where our little boy was made to feel like a part of the hotels family.
The confort in the room
Everything looked clean and newly furbished Narrow country lanes to access
Mainly the location. No room service on sundays (not advertised at the moment of booking or check-in). Very noisy due to rooms being right above the function room (we were not informed about a function on Sunday night).
The food was excellent
we were the only resideents in a wonderful hotel
Messed up our restaurant orders, but gave us a complimentary bottle of wine to compensate. Beware! They have charged me three times on my credit card, once on the day of checkout, then subsequently for the same amount on two separate days. It doesn't say much for Barclaycard either that they let these transactions through. Now I have the hassle of disputing them.
The quiet location and friendly staff
Beautiful 300 year old building lovingly conserved. Room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. Location was excellent with great villages and country pubs nearby. Numerous walks and close to Wells and Cheddar. Breakfast was good and set us up for each day. Owners were very friendly and catered for all our requirements including WiFi access.
The kitchen and lounge facilities. The breakfast was excellent. The cottage had a lovely country feel to it.
Beautiful house, excellent hosts, we made a great choice, everything is done with excellence
Everything including room and hotel in general, warm welcome, breakfast, couldn't fault anything with the hotel. N/a
Very friendly and comfortable. Lovely breakfast.
We found The Post House a very coumfortable b&b in an ideal location for visiting many places of interest in Somerset The rooms and food were first class and the proprietors made our stay very comfortable
Great location with good access to countryside as well as local towns. Decor is very chic, and facilities very comfortable. The proprietors were very welcoming and always accommodating.
We chose this hotel by the decor represented in the pictures on their website. Room was in the eves and therefore some problems with convenience of room space. Bath was a deep square tub with shower head not attached to fixed point above posing some problems with showering conveniently.
The hosts were friendly and outgoing and the Post House was unique in its renovations. Breakfast was delicious! Because we like to walk to a place for supper there was only one choice and it involved walking home along a dark road for about a mile.
lovely atmosphere - well renovated and welcoming
The room was large and well equipped and anything I required the very helpful and friendly staff were happy to find for me. I enjoyed my stay here very much.
Accommodating and friendly staff Unfair comment maybe, but the room was way too hot, could have done with air con
Good firm bed Parking, Internet Access was pathetic.
Leaving was good Hotel was dirty, staff incompetent, and stay was grossly overpriced.
Staff very pleasant. Convenient. Easy parking. Good basic facilities. Slightly over-priced for my needs but I booked late and could find no alternative. Decor and furnishings are sombre and conservative
Very clean and friendly thank you No
Very nice hotel, good location,Clarkes village close by.Shame the shower didnt work, but didnt spoil stay.
The booking in went well - I was sorry that I had not managed to book direct and had gone thro a booking agent. It was fine for an overnight stop. The bathroom had been tiled but indark brown! In a tiny toilet area too. The shaving mirror was on the wall but too high for either my husband or myself to see into - fitted by a six footer no doubt. Like wise a light over the basin- it was unreachable.
Welcoming staff. Comfortable and clean. Not a high standard of cuisine. My wife's chicken was not cooked and was sent back and not charged.
No frills hotel. Characterless and the town of Street has little to offer - Wells would have been better.
Our room was fantastic. A great view of the Cathedral, and a magnificently comfortable bed, that did not look out of place. The whole hotel has plenty of character and charm. I don't think there was anything that I didn't like. Though I think the stairs to the upper rooms you have to be stable on your feet, as they are steep.
Its nearness to the centre of Wells. View of cathedral west wing from our bedroom. Being in an historic building. Not being able to stop outside to unload luggage. A very old building but attention to detail poor, eg electric fittings in room, dirty bath, having to go across the street for breakfast in a co-owned hotel. No receptionist available for checking out at 9.40 am
It was such a fascinating location. Checking out was done at the hotel across the road but this wasn't made clear.
It's location Very uncomfortable mattress on first night - but room changed for second night. Decor in first room somewhat shabby and worn.
friendly staff, pretty room. I would have liked a bath!
Good location directly opposite to the cathedral. Rooms used but comfy. Looked a bit neglected but bearable.
Charming location. Not good value for money. Requested 4 poster bed, thought would get nicer room, however not particularly clean, room small, basic, no net on huge window which directly looked over main street and another hotel, so had to keep curtains closed all time and weather very hot, didn't sleep well as no air able to circulate. An old small portable TV, a kettle thats cord was too short, therefore had to boil on the floor and no milk for morning tea!. That morning had breakfast in sister hotel across road, no staff in the Ancient Gatehouse at all, all closed up! Would not recommend this hotel, not good value at all, other hotels in same road but unsure of there prices!
The convenience to city centre and it was quiet Having to use the hotel opposite for breakfast
The room which overlooked the cathedral green. The room itself was excellent and the view was amazing!
Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent food in the restaurant, historic and central location parking was a bit of an issue but a minor thing
