Good size room & bathroom. Attractive lobby, stairway, restaurant room. Spotlessly clean room, though frayed around the edges. Excellent buffet breakfast.
The pool and leisure facilities
Beautiful surroundings, polite and helpful staff, gorgeous room, room service was quick and the food was yummy and hot when it came up. Very romantic setting and would definitely stay again.
The facilities available Lack of things to do in the surrounding area of Tring
Room was spacious, especially bathroom. Staff were helpful, communal areas very grand and the breakfast was lovely. Bed felt a little small - could have been more comfortable. Changing rooms for pool etc. very small and gym etc. a bit of a maze to reach.
warmth and comfort of room well prepared and served meals helpfull staff very relaxing and not having to rush to vacate room
peaceful environment the room service menu and availability of food was restricted to only certain times
Very helpful porter on arrival. Waiter service was very attentive and professional. Lovely restaurant setting. Rooms were airy and basic. Children not allowed to swim after 6pm, even though it was empty. Bathrooms were very dated and in need of complete overhaul. No mobile reception
Quiet peaceful location, lovely room and excellent facilities, great staff, breakfast in room
we were made to feel 'special' by each and every member of staff the food was execellent the layout of the sauna/ steam room in relation to the pool was odd - you need to 'travel' along a corridor to find them.
excellent staff. comfortable room. free parking. facilities. 24 hour reception bar prices
Excellent checking-in - attentive staff. Breakast staff very efficient and the variety of food was very good.
Staff Heating in the room was difficult to control
Breakfasts were very good and the staff very helpful The room was not serviced one day and too few towels had been left the previous day. Slow service in the bar because there was normally only one person serving and they had too much to do including room service and taking credit card payments.
Only stayed one night so not a lot of opportunity to use any facilities. The breakfast selection was excellent. Too short a stay to comment.
Ease of access and facilities
Bedroom comfortable and adequate and bar/restaurant adequate Bathroom could be cleaner - black rim around taps, shower and hand rails
Hotel good, staff very helpful no faults
Bar staff was not very service minded. Surprised to find that you had to pay extra for internet connection. In most hotels in Europe that is free. Also that it is an outside provider.
Easy to find, plenty of parking spaces available. Large comfortable hotel, efficient and friendly staff, good selection available at breakfast. Lack of TV channels
The location was perfect, the staff so helpful, the room extremely comfortable and the meals in the Pub were super
It was a bed. The restaurant looked nice but I didn't eat there because I didn't have time. Shower looked dirty. Staff seemed flustered when I got there. It was late at night and there was one other person checking in already. Apparently they had some problems with the room keys. A distance from train station.
Fantastic location for Waddesdon estate, hotel very clean and historic building. We had a room at the back which was great. Had a good welcome at the village church. First course of evening meal was not up to scratch. The staff were very helpful, friendly and made the stay enjoyable, but there seems to be a lack of overall management in the hotel as it lacked a bit of organisation.
Just around the corner from Waddesdon Manor, which has fantastic art and building, well worth visiting. Hotel is a lovely period building that used to be part of Waddesdon estate, well maintained. Lovely garden, sit and have drinks. Nice room and bathroom. Staff foreign and somewhat clueless but nice people. Restaurant has good food but looks like pub seating. Internet did not work.
The room and the the choice of breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Waddesdon Manor and gardens are close by and well worth a visit
Wonderful friendliness and helpfulness from all of the staff.
The hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff were polite and friendly, the bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental, cooked, or for a small supplement you could have kippers or smoked salmon. None
Staff were helpful but not intrusive. Interior comfortable and gardens beautifully laid out.
Location, style and furnishings, size of room Booking process, hotel couldn't handle booking so had to make this via Active website. Although spoke to hotel and agreed which room would be allocated, this was not known on arrival - advised had been allocated a) twin (double agreed) b) not in main house (agreed would be in main house) c) room 5 (room 11 allocated). In the end allocated room agreed on phone but like drawing teeth. Pressurised to book dinner on arrival (at noon) without any invitation to view menu - we didn't in the end eat there. Said on 2 occasions on arrival that we would leave bag as we were 'visiting the House (ie Waddesdon Manor) and would therefore only need to have access to room after that. On accessing room and reading hotel details, found out that guests received free entry to the ground of the Manor, which would have saved us 10 pounds, but we weren't advised of this. Breakfast next day. Sat and waited for table to be dressed. No butter or preserves, had to get left over butter from next table. Preserves never arrived. Gave order to disinterested young girl. My order - scrambled eggs with bacon. Arrived - no bacon. Had to ask much older lady who delivered food for this. Then asked for mustard which not provided. When older lady delivered comment was 'well anything else' in a 'don't bother me again' attitude - didn't like to ask for preserves!! Orange juice had run out had to ask for this. Unshaven (and this not from me but my partner) lad also serving very offhand. Overall the hotel is lovely - reason I booked it was that I had arranged a corpoate event there 2 years ago for international racing people lunch and private view of Waddesdon Manor, so wanted to show this and the Manor to my partner, just a shame it was let down not by overall experience but a combination of little annoyances - eg bedside light not working. Why not have a checklist of setting a table and checking a room and tick each item off to ensure everything as it should be. Would recommend to others and stay again if in the area but such a shame to be let down. (Also noted that others at breakfast were asking for eg a glass, salt & pepper on other tables).
The room was a delight. Comfortable bed, crisp white bedlinen, well aired and nice view. Tastefully furnished and spacious. The window opened, always a good point for me and my Husband. Very good evening meal. Excellent choice of wines. Friendly and helpful staff. For a fried breakfast the bacon was thick and undercooked, the egg was lifeless and the tomatoes were dull and listless. The room we were in was near the kitchen fans. I would ask for a room in another part of the Hotel next time.
Attentive and friendly staff, delicious breakfast, charming room, good size bathroom, plenty of car parking and a nice garden/terrace to the rear of the hotel - highly recommended. It's not a criticism but would recommend a slightly larger bar area/lounge for pre-meal drinks and nightcaps!
Lovely little hotel. Beautiful garden area. Friendly and helpful staff.
Wonderful welcome, clean comfortable room and a tasty breakfast, all at a very reasonable rate.
clean, welcoming, helpful, nothing too much trouble, tidy rooms nice surroundings , pleasent garden, good parking facilities
Lovely, quiet accommodation. Friendly, accommodating staff, helpful in every way. The garden was peaceful, restful, and perfect for relaxing in the sun and to enjoy a home away from home atmosphere. Can't think of any.
Fell in love when arriving at the lovely building. A small hotel, dedicated personal care by the charming owners. Most beautiful garden, fresh home cooked meals. We needed peace and quiet, long walks in the green. Couldn't have found a better place!
I only met two members of staff, one on arrival late evening and one at breakfast and departure. Both were polite, friendly and helpfull.
The warm welcome; the sense that we were among friends and that nothing was too much trouble The Garden path was slippery for an elderly person(88), and the doors to the rear rooms werea bit awkward.
The food was good and the setting was idyllic, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was nicely decorated with lovely views after paying £360 for a room I expected a proper shower and not just a hand held one over the bath
Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely foods.
Service was perfect food was wonderful and the location was absolutely beautiful. We could not improve on it! Thank you
Fantastic building with a rich and varied history. Staff very attentive and the food is outstanding. None
Friendly, professional and attentive staff at book-in and throughout stay. Excellent food, good value for money. Clean, comfortable and well maintained accomodation, very pleasing bar and dining facilities. A little confusion on booking in regarding price (came up on computer with extra price for breakfast and it had been booked 'all-in'). This appeared to be a computer process problem, rather than any human error. Only one chair provided in bedroom. There was certainly room for two and this would seem sensible for two guests.
It was comfortable, functional and quiet. The staff at the adjoining 'pub/restaurant' could use some intensive training in customer service.
We stayed over Christmas and the staff were uniformly excellent -very pleased indeed. We arrived very late due to delayed flight but had no difficulties booking in.
very comfortable accommodation the bathroom, i'm not sure if the extractor fan has worked properly for a while. the ceiling was stained where mould had been.
we were reloacated to another room after mentioning that there was an odour / smell in our original room but the staff were very accomadateing and helpful.
Room was clean Mattress was very comfortable Check-in was quick Dirty/smelly Toilet and bathroom Room was too close to Exit Window opens up to the back/dumping area No Telephone/Intercom in the room
Food in resturant was poor value for money!Room was adequate at best but nothing more.Staff were helpful.
The reception staff were extremely friendly, helpful and very pleasant. No bad points
Reception Staff best i have ever experienced, polite friendly and very helpful Pub next door should not be associated with Premier Inn, very poor standard of cleanliness.
Welcome by the staff. Breakfast in the restaurant with its lovely view, luckily not raining during our stay.
Our thermostat was faulty and the lovely receptionist Nicola gave.us a full refund. Excellent service
Overall very pleasant and efficient staff. Clean room . Unfortunately on the night of our stay we were unable to eat at the adjoining restaurant, The Crows Nest as the fire alarms were activated and the restaurant had to close. We then had to find an alternative at after 9pm.We were unaware that they had to close until we asked a member of staff what was going to happen.
Staff were very friendly in hotel but the staff in the restaurant went out of their way to be helpful even to the point of holding the baby whilst we were making our selection of breakfast starters! Shower not good - too low in height and irregular flow (spurting in fits and starts)I think this was because we were at the very end of the building and the roof sloped but relatives staying 2 doors away were fine. Could also do with another chair in room.
comparing this basic UK hotel to other hotels europe / worldwide this is an overpriced hotel for whats on offer. not going into detail, but shower and toilet are not as they should be. plumbing needs to be upgraded.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Friendly, professional staff Too much road noise, lack of sleep No phones in rooms
Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, nice view at the back of the inn. Good to have the restaurant next door Prefer to have an in-room phone
Good clean room. Staff were happy to book me in a little earlier than advertised check in ddetails None really. Would have liked to see more tea, coffee and milk sachets in the hospitality tray.
the beefeater next door staff very helpful and friendly that there was no facilities to change we came down for my sons passing out parade and had been travelling for 4.5 hrs we couldnt check in till 2pm but there was no toilet to change. The beefeater next doot let us use the toilet facilites to freshen up
comfortable large bed Lighting poor in room - ensuite dated, non smoking room smelt of smoke. On tight schedule so could not report.
The bed was very comfortable. They took an extra £30 (refundable) cover charge.
Cheap feel to the hotel - worse quality rooms than a Travel Inn but more room facilities ie mini bar and satellite tv. Restaraunt and bar area very poor for a hotel of this type and brand. Poor menu choice and below average food.
Convenient to my location for work The hotel servive was poor. I was given a smoking room when I requested a non-smoking. Generally cleanliness was poor, fixtures and fittings were old and tatty. There was a live coachroach in my bedroom.
The staff were charming !! the beauty of building itself and the surrounding countryside enhanced our stay tremendously. The room we had, was elegant and tastefully furnished (we were astonished to find a telephone in the loo !!).. and the view from our window was fabulous !! all in all, excellent in (almost) every way !! see below !!!! There was a charming Italian chap who was in charge of a very sparsely designed ''Railway Station'' type ''cafe'' !! chairs were not comfortable, and almost everything on the menu... was off the menu !! however !! what we did have were three (there were 3 of us, we were being treated to dinner by a friend) of the best steaks we've ever had !! truly superb quality beef, tender and full of flavour - and the charm of the lovely Italian chef made up for the inadequacies of the ''restaurant''' (hmmmmm !!) itself.
Breakfast should surely have been included at that price. It was a poor breakfast offering anyway.
The roos were very spacious Poor service, No restaurant, food was served in the Bar. Poor choice of food. Member of staff told us to go to the pub down the road as it was better!!
The room was nice The towel was poor condition old and grained
Hotel clean, bed firm, well equiped facilities in the room or available in the corridor. Bar area intimate - good for meeting other guests Information given on homepage is misleading, we do not agree that the menu was a "selection of tempting dishes", but rather bland and of limited choice. Nor do we agree that the area within Drake's bar was in deed big enough for restaurant status. We also found the temperature of the shower difficult to get right without either having very hot or cold water to begin with (did confirm this with the staff).
The poor shower and the evening meal.
Easy parking and free internet, cabled or wireless. Tricky to find and when I moved beds, very dirty. Nodusty.t so bad but
The Staff, Parking and the use of the Gym complex next door. Room was very tired, computer points broken, very old tv (Sound was bad), stained carpet etc.
We were late arriving, but were greeted by the night porter who booked us into the hotel very efficiently. It was a bitterly cold night (- 5 degrees outside) but the room was warm and cosy with spare blankets available in the room as well as comfortable duvets. The location (next door to Stoke Mandeville Hospital) was ideal for our purposes since we had an 8.30 a.m. appointment at the hospital the following day.
Quiet & Functional If there was a bath as opposed to a shower
Despite late arrival staff welcoming and room was pleasantly sized - with wider than normal single beds. Good value As puprose built accomodation found sound insulation poor - so perhaps staying on 1st floor would be advantageous.
