Pros: It was night stay before a business visit to nearby town. It was a very comfort time staying in the hotel.
Pros: We stayed here as a base for our wedding in Gretna Green and everybody was so friendly and couldnt do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Fantastic location to get away from it all. Meals were great too.
Pros: The overall cleanliness of the Guesthouse and the food...well, it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The freindly staff made our stay extra relaxing and the local knowledge and advise given made our walking the area great. 10 out of 10 to Jack and Margaret...we will return to them in the future.
Pros: Jack and the others succeed in making their guests feel at home. Our visit to Bessiestown felt like meeting old friends - though we had never been there before. The atmosphere is so friendly and relaxed.

Pros: The night I arrived, Kevin was working the desk and was most gracious. I am so grateful he was there at 0130.
Cons: They have a menu of 24/7 offerings, and yet did not have anything when I asked for it..... They were 'out of this' 'out of that' due to menu changes and such. Well, don't put a menu in the room if you don't have what it says you do.

Pros: I'm not prone to negative reviews--but felt compelled to write this one. The staff is terrific--but otherwise this is a vaguely dirty, slightly gross, mediocre hotel. Breakfast was badly done and in a large ballroom with dozens of pensioners on holiday. The room was badly stained, unkempt, with one of the worst beds I've encountered in over a million miles of traveling. Avoid if possible.
