10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious and had amenities many hotel rooms don't seem to have like a hot water cooker, refrigerator and slippers. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was very nice. The breakfast buffet was terrific, had many different meat specialties from the region and a couple of warm egg dishes which were delicious.
Cons: Everything was great!

Pros: Loved the room itself, lovely seating area & balcony. It would be very comfortable for a longer stay. The young lady who saw us in and also served breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful
Cons: Couldn’t find any fault
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, great shower, fantastic breakfast, and our hostess brewed decaf coffee just for me! Free parking and good restaurants within walking distance were a plus. We came to the area to explore my family roots and were successful! We met a group who come to this pension every year for their bicycling trip with friends. We will definitely stay here again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly English speaking staff made us most welcome. Although they do not serve evening food they did recommend and excellent Greek restaurant a short walk away.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Pros: We liked the presentation and the atmosphere. Villa Romantically had everything we needed.
Cons: We like it all, the staff were very helpful and informative.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, likeable people and comfortable, well-run hotel in a beautiful valley of the Palatine Forest
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly & helpful proprietors. Very comfy beds. Slightly dated bathroom but with shower & bath & clean. Wonderful breakfast.
Cons: We could not get hold of owner to open security gate but he is acting on our problem to correct it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very welcoming and helped organise dinner for us at a nearby restaurant.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room, great breakfast.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful building, large rooms and everything kept in turn of the century style. Very kind owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I could describe the hotel in three words : Cosy, Classy and Comfortable, but that would be an understatement and doing gross injustice to Ralph, his lovely wife and everyone else at Villa Romantica who went out of their way to ensure that we had a great stay! The dining room and reception were decorated with subtly placed rich, beautiful paintings, precious china, antique furniture and other pleasing artefacts. It was a pleasure to be able to soak in the gorgeous ambience at all times, but especially so in the evenings. The bed room and bathroom were likewise very comfortable and impeccably clean and tastefully done up.
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like. There was a bit of a mix-up about where we had left the room keys after we checked out, but it all boiled down to our inability to speak German and get our meaning across to the nice lady who checked us out
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Welcome, cleanliness, breakfast, parking, WiFi.
Cons: Room lighting too dim for reading. Lack of shower gels etc.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Not much. Mattress comfortable. Room well lit. Bottle of local water. We stayed here Feb 2018 and it was good
Cons: Arrived 30 mins early. Property and gates closed up. So came an hr later. Gates still closed. We were about to ring up when teenage boy arrived in bike from school. Let us in and went told owner. Owner never came. Not have us the gate code and Wi-Fi code. Room cold, made sleep difficult. We seemed to be the only guests. We had advised that I had celiac disease and needed gluten free breakfast. Last yr they had provided some gluten free bread and rolls. Nothing this time. Told girl doing breakfast. A mean breakfast. Instant coffee in a pot. Paid kitchen staff and left. Miserable, cold and unfriendly - not what you expect in a b&b. Just felt a nuisance really. Will go to another b&b next time.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: As usual staff were great, and the 3-bed room (really a 2-bedroom suite) spacious and comfortable. Garden lovely, breakfast good.
Cons: This time in changeable-weather late-October, so felt the cold a bit as the heating doesn't come on until 6pm (but good during night), and lighting not so good. Also, where previously the floor above was unoccupied, it has now been renovated into living quarters and the owner's main staircase to the floor further above is built above our main bedroom - they might consider putting carpet on it.

Villa Waldfrieden - Annweiler am Trifels - Building

8.9 Excellent (175 reviews)
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was happily surprised Will book again next time I am in Annweiler
Cons: Please use my full name Goetz Boje
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation was, frankly, quite exceptional for the price. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms for a couple travelling with their disabled daughter was amazing - wouldn't expect this standard of cleanliness for the price. The staff rang to ask about our Daughters mobility requirements - twice in fact - which was extremely thoughtful. We came to an understanding it would be acceptable given there were a "few" stairs. Breakfast was well presented and adequate, on a par with the standards of the bedroom.
Cons: Let me just preface this by saying we arrived at Annweiler in what can only be described as a biblical deluge!! The only thing missing was an Ark. Given the torrent of rain blocked our mobile and GPS signal, we fought our way through the drain covers flying up to find the Villa entirely by the well placed signpost through the town. We were a little peturbed to then be told on the GuestHaus intercom that the key had to be picked up from Kurhaus Trifels, a couple of kilometres away! This could have been more clearly explained, particularly during our two brief telephone conversations. We are willing to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt though, since this may have been in the booking information and might have got the confused with some of the other half dozen bookings on our Grand European Tour (of Roadworks!) Incidentally, if you are thinking of booking this accommodation with someone with mobility issues, I would be more prepared for 40 or more, both to gain entrance and within rooms 50-52. Not an issue for our resilient Daughter, but slightly more than anticipated.
7.0 Good
Pros: Super modern and comfy suite of rooms
Cons: Little odd that the house we stayed in was not the main property, and located elsewhere from the hotel... it was really nice but a little confusing, and no info prior to tell us where to go to get the key etc...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place and very nice hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, very clean, elegant furnishings. Views of Annweiler and mountains. Quiet. Plentiful breakfast with cheerful staff; most food labeled BIO, which is rare and appreciated. Great location to access multiple hiking trails (wanderweg's), or walk out the hotel door into nature. Annweiler is a bit away from the Weinstrasse, so less crowded. Charming historical town, cultured, many events and music all year.
Cons: Add 30 minutes to drive to another location, check-in, then get back to the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, comfortable, spacious rooms. great breakfast buffet. Very pleasant staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location , great room with beautifull terrace !!
Cons: Everything was perfect !
6.3 Good
Pros: Excellent location. Close to the forest and wonderful hiking paths. The terrace in the apartment is spacious and has a great view (shared with room next door). Great shower (no bathtub). The villa has a beautiful design and everything is very clean.
Cons: We were quite mislead by the good reviews. The Kurhaus is nice but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. The price per night did not match the overall quality. We read about the check-in being in a different building but did not imagine it is a few kilometres away. We also had to go to the main building for breakfast which was a bit inconvenient in the morning before leaving. The breakfast options were quite limited and the overall quality not great. The staff at check-in and breakfast were not particularly helpful. They seemed confused when we arrived for breakfast and then the coffee took a very long time to arrive, and when it finally did it was cold. But the worse was the bed. We expected a king size bed but instead got two smaller beds put together which would slide away from each other with the slightest movement. Needles to say, they were not comfortable whatsoever.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large, spacious family room with sofas and a balcony - extremely comfortable for the four of us. Well located for an overnight stop between Belgium and Austria, easy to find and only a couple of minutes from the motorway. Great breakfast and very friendly hosts. Spotlessly clean and beautifully fitted out. Overall verdict: excellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely friendly family run hotel in small tourist town. Excellent evening meal with local wine. Great walking in the woods and hills nearby.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast selection. Excellent evening meals with smaller portions on some dishes which suits us ( at cheaper cost). Have stayed there a few times and greeted almost like friends.
Cons: The evening we eat in the restaurant was their busiest evening of the year, a special festival in town. This meant we had too long a wait for our main course, to be fair this has not happened ever before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large light bedroom with balcony and comfortable chairs.
Cons: Single beds in rooms do not pull apart and are therefore in effect a double but with separate mattresses.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Real scrabbled egg at breakfast buffet - no artificial egg as on other places
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great as a stópover between Austria and Calais
Cons: Great as a stópover between Austria and Calais
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Zum Ochsen has been owned by the same family for 125 years. The entire family works in the hotel, they are hands on and clearly take a pride in what the do. Very friendly, spotlessly clean, lovely food and wines.

Pros: See above
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Beware that the guest house has no sign nor indication where to park. We had no idea that we needed to check in at the bakery.
Cons: No wifi (they do tell you this)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good position in the Old Town.
Cons: Having to walk to the Café Escher for breakfast 200metres. Ok if not raining. Good, when you got there. The Gasthaus is a few rooms over the Escher Eiswerk ice-cream parlour & not a 'proper' hotel.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice restaurant on site and a very decent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Cons: Nothing not to like....
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiflly situated , The balcony of our room is one of best I have had in an hotel like this, with a stunning view.
Cons: The breakfast could have been more exciting, even though it was not bad
5.8 Okay
Pros: On our way to the hotel we were phoned to inform us we were being moved to a sister hotel Villa Waldfrieden. On arriving at the hotel we were offered a very ordinary room but were eventually upgraded to a nice large Tower room with panoramic views over the village and valley. Breakfast was OK. Parked outside the door which was good.
Cons: We booked a hotel in a parkland setting with a superior room. The Villa Waldenfrieden guest house was in a suburban street There were 20 steps from car parking to reception and 60 steps to climb to our room. No hotel facilities other than a breakfast room. No lift, no porterage and at €120 expensive.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful looking house with friendly staff but lacking the comfort of home.
Cons: Description of the room was incorrect. It stated " bathroom, bath or showers." I requested a bathtub and shower on my booking. The staff had not seen my request and on arrival we were told none of the rooms had a bath tub! So please correct your descriptions. I not believe this was a translation error as why state bathroom and then say bath OR shower?
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location
Cons: Hard beds
5.5 Okay
Pros: Very quiet location in a beautiful scenery.
Cons: Breakfast only starts at 8u30 so being awake at 6u with a baby is not convenient in this hotel. We had the impression the hotel was not managed very well. They nearly lost the babyfood. Some of the personnel are very friendly and helpful and some others are really not client oriented. Also we were suprised that a "kurhotel" does not have any wellness facilities. It feels like a hotel without a soul. A pity as the location is fantastic.
5.0 Okay
Cons: A very brusque welcome, after a long journey, the first welcome was, sign in and pay now! Not very welcoming,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing place......from start to finish this hotel is simply beautiful, we were travelling from far away, and arrived late. Keeping in touch with the hotel they were understanding and friendly. Booking in was easy, the room was outstanding, staff very knowledgable. The view .........well we had a castle at the end of our garden....stunning!..... The grounds are superb, lovely walks, views. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, exactly what we needed before our next journey, This hotel was better than I expected and that takes a lot......Well done Kurhaus Trifels, the perfect stop after 5 days of driving over 2000 miles, in the comfiest bed of the week.

Pros: We could eat there, but no restaurant open fro July 10th to late July. We walked to a pub near.
Cons: Not wifi.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent helpful staff
Cons: The photo on the bookings.com site is not a photo of the hotel, but of a local attraction. It would be more helpful to have a photo of the building we are looking for.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The best breakfast we'd had all week - i.e. bacon and eggs! We loved the restaurant with its working water wheel, and the Italian staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Tea/coffee making in the room would have been useful, and although we managed to park, there isn't really an official parking area

Pros: It's a small guest house with 5 rooms in an excellent location in the edge of the forest. There is a large traditional German restaurant downstairs catering for day trippers to the area with plenty of things to do for children. We had a family room that was spacious. Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: beautiful rural location. Half way between Calais and Salzberg. Very friendly staff.
Cons: For the price we paid nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were welcoming and friendly. The room and bathroom were well-appointed and clean, the bed was comfortable. Restaurant was clean and traditionally furnished, and the food was good. Plenty of parking space, easy to find.
Cons: The hotel is located on a very busy noisy highway, with traffic day and night. Unfortunately because we stayed on one of the hottest days of the year, we had to choose between shutting the window to reduce the noise, which meant the heat in the room was stifling, or leaving it open to try to get some air, which meant we were troubled by constant road noise. Maybe in winter, the traffic noise would not be such an issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location great for overnight stay. Food in restaurent very good. Breakfast ample as well. Shame that people tend to pass through, instead of visiting this beautiful area.
Cons: Nothing, only some traffic noise, but that's a small price to pay for this excellent hotel/restaurent.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location good, just off the main highway as we were driving. Food was not impressive at all. Beer was ok.
Cons: The food was not appetising and very poor value for money, too many flies and other insects , so hygiene was second rate. We started our meal outside and when we requests the change to indoor because of insects, the staff were not very understanding nor sympathetic, the atmosphere was rather cold and almost verging on to being unfriendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, great restaurant and the location is perfect for our drive UK to Italy nightstops.
Cons: Little bit of traffic noise
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tasty good value food and drink, friendly service. Comfortable room.
Cons: Some road noise.

Pros: A very nice welcome from the hostess. Very good room and facilities. Very good restaurant and very nice staff. Nice area outside the restaurant for dinner and very good food. Good breakfast and fantastic surroundings. No noise and other disturbances together with good beds made the visit very pleasant.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners were fantastic hosts, the hotel was really comfortable, clean and felt homely and is in quiet relaxing area. The breakfast was really good a great way to start the day
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, restaurant in the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: In local small town and really good and friendly, comfortable to spend a plenty time.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice view from the window :) Very good and pleasant owner! Lift was present and it was nice. The animals (cattle) was possible to see from the window inside :) Very good idea :) It was really nice to see this kind of wild animals so close. I am sure, that the team should still learn, but let`s say it is nice to be there and look for changing process, because I am sure, that the owner draw a conclusions,
Cons: No WIFI in the room (just possible from the reception). There is needed a small fridge in each room. Additionally no restaurants at the so nice hotel is a disadvantage. The lady is not so positive about the guests. I undestand the rulez very well, but if I asked her about a beer 22.30, the answer was: " I don`t have a key to the restaurant and is too late". I was really dissapointing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is good enought to spend a time. Nice place in the mountains area! For me was a good room with the balcony and nice outlook for the neighborhood. The owners must learn little bit, but I am really positive of the hotel and I could invite another guest :) Nice apples as a welcome for a guest!
Cons: No Wifi in the room (there is possible just near the reception), it is not accepted from my point of view. The lady was not so possitive for the guest, if I asked her about the beer 22.30, she answered me, that it is not possible, bacause she have got no more key to the restaurant. From this point of view I was really disappointed! i understand the rulez, but from my point of view the guest should be first... Lack of fridge inside the room.
7.0 Good
Pros: Quiet location, good base for hiking, clean, view from balcony.
Cons: The hotel and restaurant didn't have much of an atmosphere: dead quiet (which some people might like).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location good, room good, breakfast very good and the young lady running the place is absolutely charming!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable , excellent value for money. Very quiet. Nice manager, very helpful and obliging. Breakfast included as a bonus. Great stop over when travelling through Europe.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was OK
Cons: Reception wasn't open when I arrived at around 2030 hrs. It wasn't made very clear what I had to do - but eventually I worked out to contact the bar staff at the bar. The restaurant had stopped serving food at 2000 hrs which was a real disappointment as I chose this hotel from Booking.com expressly because it had one. I had been travelling 800 KM and thought that at least I would be able to get something to eat at the restaurant - but no - this wasn't possible. I did not want to go out again after travelling all that way.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was very good..
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms, clean, pet friendly, good price
Cons: Poor breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff working the night we checked in were really friendly and helpful! We came back from dinner and the bar was closed but the guy still helped us out and let us buy a bottle of some of the regional wine to take back up to our room!
Cons: The room was very very warm, and the heat was turned off and there were no windows you could open in the room we had, only the balcony door.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room we received was big but smelled musty as soon as we opened the door and had big water stains on the ceiling!
Cons: The hotel was busy and it seemed the staff was a little overwhelmed by this....
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We come at 3am and they saved the key of my room. So I can go straight to sleep. I really liked this arrangement, because their check in is until 6pm. Room was nicer then expected. Breakfast was ok, nothing special though.
7.5 Good
Cons: To eat at the restaurant you have to order it earlier, just to sit in and eat is not possible. The same with breakfast. Else the place is OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Bar And restaurant..Friendly staff!
