Wonderful friendliness and helpfulness from all of the staff.
The room was a delight. Comfortable bed, crisp white bedlinen, well aired and nice view. Tastefully furnished and spacious. The window opened, always a good point for me and my Husband. Very good evening meal. Excellent choice of wines. Friendly and helpful staff. For a fried breakfast the bacon was thick and undercooked, the egg was lifeless and the tomatoes were dull and listless. The room we were in was near the kitchen fans. I would ask for a room in another part of the Hotel next time.
Fantastic location for Waddesdon estate, hotel very clean and historic building. We had a room at the back which was great. Had a good welcome at the village church. First course of evening meal was not up to scratch. The staff were very helpful, friendly and made the stay enjoyable, but there seems to be a lack of overall management in the hotel as it lacked a bit of organisation.
The hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff were polite and friendly, the bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental, cooked, or for a small supplement you could have kippers or smoked salmon. None
Staff were helpful but not intrusive. Interior comfortable and gardens beautifully laid out.
Just around the corner from Waddesdon Manor, which has fantastic art and building, well worth visiting. Hotel is a lovely period building that used to be part of Waddesdon estate, well maintained. Lovely garden, sit and have drinks. Nice room and bathroom. Staff foreign and somewhat clueless but nice people. Restaurant has good food but looks like pub seating. Internet did not work.
Location, style and furnishings, size of room Booking process, hotel couldn't handle booking so had to make this via Active website. Although spoke to hotel and agreed which room would be allocated, this was not known on arrival - advised had been allocated a) twin (double agreed) b) not in main house (agreed would be in main house) c) room 5 (room 11 allocated). In the end allocated room agreed on phone but like drawing teeth. Pressurised to book dinner on arrival (at noon) without any invitation to view menu - we didn't in the end eat there. Said on 2 occasions on arrival that we would leave bag as we were 'visiting the House (ie Waddesdon Manor) and would therefore only need to have access to room after that. On accessing room and reading hotel details, found out that guests received free entry to the ground of the Manor, which would have saved us 10 pounds, but we weren't advised of this. Breakfast next day. Sat and waited for table to be dressed. No butter or preserves, had to get left over butter from next table. Preserves never arrived. Gave order to disinterested young girl. My order - scrambled eggs with bacon. Arrived - no bacon. Had to ask much older lady who delivered food for this. Then asked for mustard which not provided. When older lady delivered comment was 'well anything else' in a 'don't bother me again' attitude - didn't like to ask for preserves!! Orange juice had run out had to ask for this. Unshaven (and this not from me but my partner) lad also serving very offhand. Overall the hotel is lovely - reason I booked it was that I had arranged a corpoate event there 2 years ago for international racing people lunch and private view of Waddesdon Manor, so wanted to show this and the Manor to my partner, just a shame it was let down not by overall experience but a combination of little annoyances - eg bedside light not working. Why not have a checklist of setting a table and checking a room and tick each item off to ensure everything as it should be. Would recommend to others and stay again if in the area but such a shame to be let down. (Also noted that others at breakfast were asking for eg a glass, salt & pepper on other tables).
Attentive and friendly staff, delicious breakfast, charming room, good size bathroom, plenty of car parking and a nice garden/terrace to the rear of the hotel - highly recommended. It's not a criticism but would recommend a slightly larger bar area/lounge for pre-meal drinks and nightcaps!
The room and the the choice of breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Waddesdon Manor and gardens are close by and well worth a visit
Traditional, non-corporate, individual hotel and room Heating in room was not on when we arrived so room was initially cold. But soon warmed up.
Comfortable, nice location, dinner and breakfast were good. Room wasn't very large but decor made it feel a bit special (as opposed to a travel lodge or something). All felt very reasonable for the price.
Lovely room, friendly and helpful staff, cosy pub with good value meals all served in a welcoming manner
plenty of parking, good breakfast, will use again.
The price! The outside of the windows were being decorated (they actually rattle and need replacing!) and the men were peering in through my window late afternoon and early morning! The staff treated me as second-class having booked through the internet at a reduced price. I could go on!
theparking was good & convenient. We were able top control the heating in our room and there was plenty of hot water. Excellent shower -water pressure extremely good Had to wait 5 mins. -reception not manned on arrival, even after telephoning.time waitress service was very friendly yet drinks and meal once oredered took 25 mins and 35 mins respectively to arrive at table
Location Noisy room [at front]
Clean and cheap. The "superior" room was small and not designed to relax in, and the public facilities of the inn were largely given over to restaurant, so no place to relax there, either. Okay as a place to return to to sleep.
Good value for money. Clean room with everything we needed. Excellent breakfast. Room was slightly small, but we were offered a larger room when we checked in, but declined as it was next to the road and said to be noisier.
very small bathroom requires updating
Price, cleanliness of room and quality of breakfast served Receptionist stood outside the hotel smoking! Only 4 channels available on tv
Close proximity to meeting the next day. Arrived too late to have dinner, not offered any other food as substitute. Had 1/2" thick pillow & told no other additional pillows available. Room so small it was like sleeping in a cupboard. Breakfast cooked all at once so fried eggs looked as if kept warm for the previous 2 hours - asked for a fresh egg to be cooked but told that was not possible. My stay was altogether a bad experience.
Upon arrival, the hotel had not booked the correct number of rooms for my party. They admitted this was due to an internal administrative error (not related to www.booking.com). After a 10 minute wait in reception they managed to find a spare room which we could utilise. However, just after midnight, a woman let herself into this room where one of my party was asleep in bed insisting it was her room. My friend attempted to call reception to try and sort the matter out but there was no response. When this matter was raised with reception the following morning, no explanation was offered and we received no apology.
The food was ok in the pub next door Rooms run down and need refurb, need new tv's
Standard of room for price paid, ease of parking and access. Simple booking in procedures and also check out. Standard of catering at breakfast and dinner was not as good as when I stayed before.Prefer buffet breakfast although service staff were very giood
the food on offer in the restuarant was excellent. especially the carvery everyday
Friendly and helpful staff
The location was good for Dunstable and the surrounding area, security cameras gave confidence that the car parking facilities were safe. The hotel fire escape doors at the rear of the building were often left open, this did not give confidence that access to the rooms was restricted to guests only, poor security.
The rooms are very nice, clean, facilities good. Bright and airy, plenty of parking. No problems what so ever!!!! Breakfast could be worked on....slightly unorganised...but ok.
Receptionist was really helpfull, organisied taxi for early in the morning and iron & iron board so that I could press my clothes Bar stuff unhelpfull- arrived at 9,02pm but while they had food on Display I was told the kitchen was closed. Best offer was to ring a "take-away"!!!!!!!!!!
nice staff, nice room, very vonvenient is the parking lot behind the hotel, wifi connexion was weak in my room.
Big room and very clean. The staff were relatively helpful and friendly. The food wasn't "bad" but, nothing to write home about. Certainly not complaining though, they give a discount if you're staying there.
Lovely old building, good bar with locals in attendance, good restaurant, clean comfortable room, nice people None
staff were very helpful, the hotel was clean and tidy, great location in center of village and woburn abbey n/a
Room close to car park Room smelt damp. Breakfast not good
Good position in village good food plenty of parking character inn Stairs but I am slightly disabled added to ambiance
Smart clean little pub with rooms staff are great, rooms OK perhaps a touch of tlc in the not to distant future would be good, but I would go back to stay at Longs.
Very friendly service, from all staff, food very good, room very quiet
Restaurant served wonderful, reasonably priced, local food
Lovely room, friendly staff, great location Good to read about the history The breakfast part - it wasn't clear in the booking process that the default was a continental breakfast, which wasn't very inspiring.
It was quieter than we expected which was good. Had a good feel to it. It will be better when the renovations are complete. It will be an achievement to complete by 9th!
The food was excellant
Good position with plenty to do in town Late party with loud music playing. No lights working on the corridor of the Coach House
Comfortable hotel with interesting history
good food, warm and comfortable room lack of television channels in room ,could only get 4 tv stations ,no channel five
Good value. Reasonably comfortable room well equipped.Breakfast choices good. Staff friendly. Room decor rather tired. Room a little cramped, therefore bed not a large double. Lighting in room rather dull. Some delay in getting the order of things right at breakfast E.g long wait for tea/coffee, toast not arriving with main breakfast.
We attended a wedding reception which was organised very well - our room was comfortable. No dislikes at all
No stairs as requested. Good fOOD Lacked local people with familiraty to stony
I was looking for a rustic village inn with some character, this is exactly what I got, wooden beams in the room and antique furniture, slanting floors and creaking floorboards. The Cock Hotel is comfy and cosy and very welcoming. Perfect for a weekend getaway, we would defintely go back. Very happy customer.
Good service and value.
very friendly hard working staff. Good food available and very comfortable room with good WIFI connection. Very happy customer
Freindly staff, nice atmosphere. Electric heating caused me hay fever.
The kettle in the room was not very clean, the shower curtain had mould on it Going to breakfast was told 7 till 9, i went for 7.15 and the man on the desk then told me it was only 8 till 9 so had to sit in the room. To quiet in breakfast room could of done with some back ground music, it was not very welcoming, was not explained how breakfast worked
The staff were terrific - very helpful and knowledgeable. The room was lovely.
Facilities in the room Unable to provide any type of food after 9pm
There was an excellent booklet showing a walk round the village. Two hours very well spent.
Food, Room, Bar area, Location
staff were excellent, very friendly.
The manager was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent value and the hotel was clean and tidy
Lovely room Good choice and good value bar menu Helpful and friendly staff Nothing!
Excellent atmosphere :) Very quiet. Overall, excellent price for a quaint pub in Luton! Mattress was a little springy..:)
Absolutely nothing The room was dirty and tiny the bed was very uncomfortable if this was the last hotel on earth I would go camping without a tent in november.this hotel is the worst I have stayed in avoid it like the plague.
The bar. Room wasn't clean. Breakfast consusted of cornflakes in the room and UHT milk. Mattress was uncomfortable. Walls paper thin, kept awake by snoring and phone calls next door.
Staff were very nice Shower was faulty and to small so flooded the bathroom
I would just like to thank you for the hospitality shown to me and my colleagues on our stay at yuor hotel last week, I would definitely recommend you too any persons who are asking for a top class hotel within the luton area, all meals were of an above average and really enjoyed by all and accommodation is of a high standered, No bad experiences
Proximiy to Luton airport. The room was far too cramped to fit 3 adults. They had run out of food to give the same sized continental breakfast for each guest.
Staff were lovely, very friendly . Rooms clean Rooms too small - bedding - old lumpy duvet needs replacing Bathroom - tiny - shower head broken
Value for money evening meal. Cheap. Blocked shower with 'gunge' coming up from the waste pipe. Blocked toilet. Bad smell. ONe light fitting removed and bare wires hanging down. Basic breakfast served in room with no tables or trays to eat from - had to perch on end of bed.
Friendly staff, clean room, everything as it should be Cold room, acsses bad with luggage, no smocking
we had free food as the meal took so long to cook. The food was tasty.the landlord was kind enough to collect us when we could not find the location. The barmaid/waitress was friendly The bed was terrible we could feel the springs through the sheets. I could hear the man next door snoring. The room has no way to get fresh into it.I know you get what you pay for but this was not good place to get a restful night before an early flight, I was exhausted the next day.
