Nice, spacious, relatively luxurious bed and breakfast Very nice restaurant Nice location, in the middle of rural Kent though still 20-25 minutes from Maidstone Not really geared for business travellers. Breakfast is after 0930! You are offered continental breakfast in your room if you have to leave before 0930. Not easy to find, especially late at night, when my mobile sat nav stopped working as there was no reception and there was no single soul awake to ask for instructions. I suggested to the owner to alert future customers at time of confirmation of booking, with emphatic fonts e.g. capitals or bold that this may be the case, so to make alternative preparations e.g. print the map or download off line map. Do not take me wrong, overall it is a nice B&B with some very fancy rooms. Very nice for a romantic weekend/getaway!
very attentive staff - especially at breakfast when we asked for something that was not the standard breakfast fayre. Staff also stayed up late to welcome us when we checked in past mid-night, took our bags to our room and were generally most helpful. we had requested a late checkout....but were still disturbed in our room an hour before agreed checkout time, though they were very apologetic about this.
Very friendly staff. Breakfast Beautiful old character building . No atmosphere probably due to takeover and lack of other guests . Grounds untidy . Unhappy with lack of privacy - pathway under our window .
Excellent and friendly service. Everyone there couldn't do enough for us. Food in the restaurant was also exceptional.
The owner and staff are very friendly and will make an extra effort for you. The room quite old, do not expect to be spoiled...
We were made very welcome and comfortable.full english breakfast very good, could have had any choice of food. Did not use main menu but it looked good.hotel in a very nice location.price very competative.hotel appears to be under new management and being brought up to date. A very nice weekend! Hotel needs a bit of T.L.C. but I think the management are in the process of doing this.
The room was of a generous size and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative comment I would have is that the bathroom was very dated.
Very hospitable owners.
Unique hotel, good room rate, clean and well maintained, interesting. Wholesome Evening Meal. Good breakfast. Free WiFi in public areas. No mobile phone signal (Orange). The hotel bar was closed Mondays, we came down after putting our bags in the room to find the bar closed, though the owner opened up for Dinner at the time we'd agreed. Shame, he could have had a few hours of trade but we went elsewhere for a bit. TV signal variable at best, non existent at worst. Free Wifi did not work in the room which would have been useful in the absence of a TV signal. No mobile phone signal (Orange).
Peaceful area. Large room. Reception not covered. Lighting in the room was not fully operational. Large cobwebs and spiders in the wardrobes. Extractor fan in the internal bathroom not working. Broken toilet seat. No light in shaving mirror. On return on the first full day room not made up. We were moved to another room which some of the facilities not in working order which obliged the hotel to clean our original room for us to move back into. After we moved back we found that the bath and wash basin had not been cleaned. On our return from a day out on our final day's stay we found that damp and dirty towels were left folded on the beds.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere Decor and facilities a little out-dated and in need of refurbishment
Such a helpful and friendly staff. Our rooms were perfect for our needs. We loved our time at the Roebuck!
Clean & comfortable. Good food. It is the only pub & hotel in the village so everyone goes there. The village is just one street. You had to be in the restaurant by 8pm to get served even though the room info states 9pm. They actually turned people way at 7.45pm and it wasn't busy. they seemed short staffed.
Standard of room very high, reasonably priced food, good choice Quality of food did not match accommodation
The homely atmosphere, the welcoming staff. The photo on the internet does not do it justice. The hotel was almost empty, despite the Leeds Castle Fireworks night. Again I would say a better photo on the internet and detail the fact that hotel its right on top of Leeds castle might draw more bookings in my view.
the rooms were very comfortable and the staff excellent, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel, breakfast was great.
as a party of seven we did not have to worry about sitting together for breakfast or dinner as the table was already for us.
Beds comfortable. Food good. Disabled bathroom not very suitable for non disabled guests - basin far too small, no shelf on which to put sponge bags etc.
The comfort and cleanliness of the room was second to none. Unlike some hotels I have stayed in every piece of furniture was in very good condition and matching..Very friendly and obliging staff. To have a Happy 2 hours in the bar was an added bonus.
The room was very clean. It was also an excellent price for the room. Once the music ended downstairs, it was very quiet; we enjoyed a good night's sleep. The room was very small; there was not even room for a chair. Moreover, the noise from the pub downstairs carried up into the accommodations area until about 11:30, although since it was Friday night, we probably should have expected that. Also, no one showed us to the room, and there were several mechanical and electrical aspects that we had to figure out on our own.
The food was very nice and the staff were friendly. The room was nice and clean. We had room number 7 and mattress had seen better days to the point where i didn't have a good nights sleep at all and is sqeaky very loud every time i moved i woke my self up and my boyfriend, it was very dissapointing. When i inspected the mattress is was soo squished and old it i felt a bit ripped off for having to pay to sleep in it i would of been better off on the floor on a blow up one.
The restaurant was excellent! Will visit again.
excellent accomodation, food superb, excellent sevice
Friendly and very helpful people. food good at a fair rate.
The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food the hot breakfast came before we had finished our cereal
The personal interest shown to us- great great - we've stayed before and, will book again (directly) and, recommned it to our friends. For me only one thing, no smoking enclosure. So, brrrr cold for a girl from South Africa!
Good rural setting. Generous car parking
Food was excellent & reasonably priced & rooms were clean, tidy & homely Thought the mattress in my room was quite hard & unforgiving but apart from that enjoyed the stay
We both loved the fact it was secluded and as we got to the room the rooms themselves we can only descibe as being like attached Bungalows and as we went in the design of the room was spot on all the facilities you need but at the same time nice and spacious. The staff in the restuarant and the Hotel reception were very friendly welcoming and attentive. All in all the night from start to finish was superb. Nothing at all staff and the Inn alike were faultless
We were warmly greeted and directed to our room, which was down an extremely steep slope. The room was clean, comfortable and modern although, very dimly lit.The sheets were a dull cream in colour, which tended to make them look grubby white. The bathroom was modern and generally clean apart from under the rim of the toilet. a nice touch was a cafetiere with ground coffee amongst the usual hot drink facilities. The restaurant was definitely gourmet with a wide selection of starters, mains & desserts accompanied by a good choice of wines. We enjoyed two fantastic evening meals. Breakfast was delicious:fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, toast and a full English. Staff were most accommodating & very friendly. The slope down to the rooms was hazardous. a ground frost made it quite icy in parts.WINTER Would be lethal! On the first two nights the food was outstanding although on our last night my steak was cold. I sent it back with minimal fuss. However, by the time it was returned to me, my partner had finished her meal. The steak was hot, but could no longer be described as "medium" and the accompanying asparagus & dauphinoise potatoes were dried out and I left most ot this meal. I am easily embarrassed & did not want to make a fuss, but did question why it was still on the bill. I was given £6.50 reduction, but still charged £13.50 for the main meal I did not eat- this spoilt our last night & I felt that I had been overcharged.
comfortable and quite.
Friendly staff; good breakfast A hair-dryer would have been useful!
general condition was run down bar/eating area better. Room was very shabby and not 100% clean nut shells on floor next to bed and under it giant dust bunnies!! No at all like pictured. If I could have I would have gone somewhere else to stay.
Easy to find - friendly staff We couldn't use the bar as the whole place was booked for a private function when we arrived
Very pleasant overnight stay. Very olde worlde!
the room overlooked the carpark, no other veiw noticeable
Beakfast was fine, thank you The room was not very clean. Shower was not adequate No little extras like toiletries although clean towels daily was welcomed
It has Character, staff helpful and serves very good food Some areas getting tired and in need of some serious makeover and maintenance. The line between quaint and needing attention can be a fine one in a character hotel with a very old building but some items have passed that line.
Nothingg really stands out Nothing stands out
the comfortable room - we were attending a wedding, so did not discover the full facilities, as we were meeting up with Family on Sunday morning
the communal areas the bedroom was poorly finished- also address did not include village so real trouble finding it
It was very close to local amenities and staff and hotel were very good As it was New Year Weekend both fish dishes on menu were not available on both nights we dined there. As a non meat eater this left me with limited choice
Overall stay was very good and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no blind up in the bathroom and mentioned it to one of the staff in the bar in the evening and it was dealt with the following day. Very good location for visiting family in Chatham and local amenities.
location , location , location
The quiet. The helpfulness of the waitress at breakfast. No answer to phone calls. No night porter.
The bedrooms were comfortable and the decor had an interesting nautical theme. Don't be put off by the look of the exterior; it's much nicer inside. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim and the room was cold. Breakfast service was slow on the Sunday morning.
Friendly, helpful staff. Offered smoking room but now have none.
friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, real ales. rooms were very hot, so, some better form of air conditioning would be good, secure parking as we were on motorbikes.
Situation good. It was a very busy pub not a hotel. Restaurant quality and selection fair. Reception desk was anyone one could get hold of behind the bar which was heaving!!!
Location Could not get a drink 10.15pm 30th Dec? (Towels up)? No food New Years day (Breakfast) although guests were staying at the Hotel! No-one told. Limited food bar area. Very noisy rooms. Pets allowed to stay in rooms although told Pets not allowed. Carpets very dirty. Guests rooms wall very thin. Could hear everything through walls? Next doors toilet backed onto our Bedhead? The lady may as well have been in the same room, very embarressing. Hotel very tired and needs a total revamp. Given its location (on marina) Sheperd & Neame needs to splash the cash!! and soon.
The location, friendly staff, being above the pub, the breakfast, design of room, view from room and restaurant, ease of booking online, checking in and out.
Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and comfortable and quiet. Bathroom had shower but not bath. Ate at the restaurant and food was good. Buffet breakfast fine. In all no complaints and seemed pretty good value to me. The only downside to the hotel is that you are outside of tunbridge wells here so need to drive in and out.
Great breakfast-was worried about partner's reaction to a "continental" breakfast- he is still going on about how good it was. Parking plenty of it and close to accomodation. Nice rooms and breakfast area. Convenient position, easy to find, lots to do/see nearby in a lovely area None
My room was clean and tidy with a modern ensuite and the usuals TV, good hairdryer etc. The breakfast was good and the laid out nicely. I ate in the pub during the evening, the food was good and as expected
Although we arrived late in the day after a wedding, the room was very comfortable and homely.
Nice quiet clean room away from the road. Plenty of car parking Very popular at lunchtime suggested they are doing something right. Disappointingly small room, very dim lights in the bathroom, bed sagged in the middle, too soft for us, not a good nights sleep. Strange 'modern but baronial tudor' furniture in a newly built room.
Quiet room, good breakfast and the old pub, which forms part of the hotel.
Our stay at the Camden Arms was excellent. We can not fault it in any way.The staff were very professional and yet very friendly and welcoming. The room we had was beautiful. N/A
Nice sized room, with good facilities.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Did not spend enough time there!
Clean, friendly, lively hotel, but very traditional feel too. The staff were outstanding - we arrived late on Saturday evening after the kitchen had closed, but even without us asking, they offered to provide sandwiches and tea or coffee. The room, although small, was beautifully appointed with luxury touches. We were there for an event at a local castle, but hope to go back next year for a longer stay when we will use the hotel as a base to explore local stately homes and the countryside. Highly recommended. Very minor - it was a shame that the shower was not as strong as it could have been. Nothing else!
Friendly atmosphere Bar shuts at 11pm on Sat! Also no high chairs for children
The staff were nice and friendly & service for breakfast good. There was no one on reception and at one point had problem getting one of our group into room, but luckily one other persons key fit, so could have done with someone on reception to save headache.
The friendly staff
Good central location in the town. Very good on-site parking. We felt very safe. Good bit of general wear and tear; peeling wallpaper, broken and detached bathroom tiles, rotting window sills. Price may have been fair for the location but certainly more than I would expect to pay for the general condition of the place.
One of the best breakfasts that I have had at a hotel or B&B Room decoration was a little 'tired'
Young staff at breakfast service were delightful The Hotel was a disgrace and I was ashamed for England and I have sent a letter of complaint to your customer service - Old English Inns Head Office @Bury St Edmunds. This hotel is idealy situated in a beautiful Village in the Garden of Kent and would posibly have many visitors from Chartwell and Hever Castle and it was sad - paintwork shabby, ceiling paper falling down, carpets and curtains were grubby, furniture chipped and dusty etc etc. Also no security at all after 11pm - you have to go round the back door entrance, dimly lit and let yourself in, inside badly lit and no directions to main reception area or staircase. I found this so sad and would never stay there again - after living in Kent for over 20 years - I would never recommend it either to anbody and also I found the Saturday morning reception area rather off putting, as a dog was also there to greet me, office area was very scruffy and untidy - I could go on but have not enough time.
Attractive rooms, nice friendly staff, good food and beautiful surrounding countryside. The bed mattress was a little uncomfortable
Our room was quite dark with no main light. A bulb had also gone in the ensuite which resulted in a dark bathroom. The decor could do with a freshen up as walls skirtings and window frames all showed signs of tiredness.
location and parking I have now stayed in four English Inns and they vary in service.I had to take my luggage up two flights of stairs no assistance was offered. The remote did not work.No heating in the morning so it was very cold. This hotel is o.k. if you get a cheap deal but not full price.
Well located the village was very interesting, lots of interesting if very expensive shops.Very good dinner in hotel
