great value for money
Convenience and facilities
We were upgraded to an apartment at no extra cost Unfortunately the apartment had been used by smokers.
Very centrally .located within walking distance of the Christmas Markets and many of the city's sites. The room was nicely appointed and clean. We would definitely stay at this hotel again next time.
The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. The room was lovely, and the breakfast was outstanding!
The guests are able to enjoy the excelent structure of the hotel SPA without any adittional costs. The room was very clean and modern. The hotel Restaurant serves excellent "gourmet" meals at fair prices.
Nice hotel, just few minutes walk from the city center. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast. Great value for your money.
Although we have booked the standard double room, we were given the apartment when we arrive. At first we thought: "Great we got an upgrade!", but the apartment was an downgrade indeed! Very dirty, broken furnitures, dark, very dated, just terrible. We went straight back to the front desk to ask for the room that we booked, and we were then given the double room. The room is ok, as its name "standard".
In-house parking, friendly staff, reasonable room price, room well equipped No airco in public areas/corridors; very expensive internet; only one PC at the business centre and no privacy; expensive breakfast, but good
Excellent restaurant and not expensive. Good parking. Single room was very small but modern & clean. TV did not work (was a known problem but I was not advised on check-in)
Beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast. Very quiet, clean and wonderful location.
I liked the friendly people and the location of the hotel. Nothing at all - I will stay again at the hotel.
Clean room, very comfortable, great location! Breakfast seemed a bit pricey
Wonderful breakfast, very helpful staff, charmingly decorated historic hotel. The location was great for getting to all the sights. Hotel is right next to a major tram stop and bus depot. We were very impressed that with the windows closed it was very quiet. But, our room was a bit warm and when we cracked open the windows the noise was so disruptive that we could not sleep. Our choice of either quiet and too warm or cool and noisy was not a good one. Would definitely be a major problem in the summer.
Very nice room.
Very quiet (the room opened into the inner "yard"). They advertised offering WLAN, but don't mention you need to buy the access from an external provider (T-mobile) and that it costs 8 eur / hour... So technically the advertisement is correct -- the hotel doesn't charge you for using their WLAN access point -- but compared to many other hotels, it's easy to assume that also the internet access if free, which it's not.
Breakfasts were top notch, staff was friendly TV could have had a few more channels but with Wuertzburg to visit, TV was not important. All in all, I would gladly return to this hotel.
Loved the location & the old world charm of the hotel. Very large room. breakfast was the best we've come across in Germany
Attentive friendly staff with excellent English and commitment to hotel.Wonderful quirky decor and very good breakfasts. Hotel has been family business for about 100 years and it shows with lots of wonderful if over the top decorative touches. Information sheet issued to direct me to parking garage was inaccurate. Another guest had to put me right. Receptionist pointed out photos on her desk which identified the buildings along the route. Garage itself was fine. Room design was odd with door to bathroom alongside bed with external light switch so that using toilet in middle of night meant that one inevitably shone light on partner.
The suite was amazing - beyond anything I have experienced in Germany. The overall ambience of the hotel was extrodinary. The manager and his wife have created a home like atmosphere that is unequaled. I will definitely be back and will recommend to all.
Not just a business hotel in town, but a place with atmosphere. Great staff
Very friendly and helpful personnel. Excellent breakfast. Given the high standart of the hotel the price was more then adequate. Although all of the rooms are clean and comfortable, some have not been refurbished for some time.
I really loved the blanket. It was leaves and very warm. We asked at reception the price of internetional calls and the recepcionist gave us the wrong information. When we checked out, we were suprised with the bill, that was much higher than we expected. By the way, we really think that was an honest mistake.
Room, front desk staff, parking system (free of charge from 7p.m. till 9a.m.), restaurant (for dinner) Nose from the terrace under my window (from the late evening till midnight)
The location was good. It was expecially helpful being able to pull up to the hotel to unload suitcases. The room was very small, and the bathroom even smaller!
Perfect location, free parking overnight, great breakfast, helpful staff
Good location, just five minutes walk from the city centre. Easy to find. None of the staff spoke English
Friendly and efficient staff
Everything was fine,including staff etc.
The room is beautiful with pleasant atmosphere. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. The location is excellent, the building is close to everything the tourists are interested. No!
It's a shame that the furnishings were so tasteless and bland.
Nice hotel staff, good breakfast, good bed and calm during night. the price !
Staff friendly and anxious to help. Location made it easy to see all the sites
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast excellent It is in need of an upgrade in decor
The location was excellent. The appearance and ambiance were charming. The staff was extremely helpful and gracious.
Room was well decorated and clean, and close to restaurants and bars in the town. Breakfast was good and staff helpful and polite. Hotel is only at best a 2 star. The hotel is overpriced and poor on facilities. Firstly, you cannot drive close to the hotel door. You have to stop across 2 tramlines and carry you luggage over the lines. Secondly, there is no lift and we had to carry our own suitcases up 6 flights of 10 stairs to the 3rd floor. Thirdly, on 3 days, there were 3 different sets of staff and the Reception was closed from 2000hrs to 0700hrs next morning each day and from 1200hrs all day on Sunday...not good if you had a problem. Fourthly, the free Wi-fi we could not received on the 3rd or 4th floors and had to sit on the steps outside the closed reception area to access the internet. Lastly, the room was so hot we had to open the windows at night but had alot of noise from all night trams.
the staff was very accomodating...we hit the German heat wave in July 2010 and no air conditioning was an issue. The rooms are not spacious but they were very clean. The street noise could keep you awake if you are there on a weekend night. The breakfast was plentiful and wonderful. The lack of air conditioning was an issue with the unusual heat wave that hit during our trip.
Staff were very helpful I requested a non-smoking room. The small of cigarette smoke was very strong (to me) and the room had obviously been used by smokers prior to my visit. I would strongly recommend that the hotel keep smoking and non- smoking rooms separate. This is why I marked "Cleanliness of the room" as only fair.
near to the railway station
Reception was friendly and competent. Room was large and clean with very comfortable beds and bedding. Good breakfast buffet. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the train station and close to Wuerzburg's shopping, market square, cathedral, city hall and Residenz Palace. It was just a little more expensive than I would have expected.
vy present stay with a bright room facing the church. location is great, like a 5mins walk from both train station and the old district. nice breakfast, free wifi, spacious room and essential amenities all score points for it no elevator!
Good location, good hearted staff!!
Convenient, reasonably priced, friendly staff, good breakfast There was a pervasive smell in the halls and stairsways, like from a kitchen or butchershop. I could also smell that somebody had smoked in my room at one time. Internet connection via code was often very difficult and unstable. I needed a gentleman in the hotel to help me out, one night I could not get on the Internet at all. Also I though free Internet service was announced but it was limited to five hours (admittedly when I need a new code, I got it). The Internect connection is my main complaint about this hotel.
The hotel was close to the station and the centre of town.
The location was good and had secure parking (garage). Breakfast was good and more than needed. No restaurant, and no real help as to where to eat.
Great breakfast, nice room. No climatization, no wifi in room.
The location of this hotel was excellent for walking just a few blocks to the center of town where you can shop, dine, see the city and move onto the sites. The staff was very helpful and picked a wonderful restaurant for dinner which was a short walk. No, it met and exceeded our expectations.

It is near almost all important places in Wurzburg.I hope i would come again.
Near the train station, and also from the center of the city. Kind staff. Very cosy room. Excellent price for the quality. No internet conection :(
Good location. Helpful staff
central location somewhat antiquated
I thought that the morning breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful and spoke english which was very important. Also the rate was a factor. My room needed several repairs such as the shower head was broken and the carpet was very soiled. Also the TV was old and the remote was broken.
Staff were friendly and helpful with check-in and check-out. The room was clean and comfortable. An insufficient amount of soap and tissue in the bathroom is the only complaint I have.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in finding town sites and using public transportation. Great breakfast. Clean and comfortable. The breakfast room is small for the total guests who could be staying. We had to wait a short time one morning because the chairs were all full at the time we wanted to eat.
Friendly staff, spacious room, fairly quiet despite central location.
Cute little place, very clean, friendly staff.
Basically the only thing we liked was the friendliness of the staff and the location close to everything. The shower doors did not meet completely so there was water on the floor everytime we took a shower. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom. For the rate we paid, we expected one as we have stayed in nicer places for less money and it was provided. It was hard to find as it was on the 4th floor of a building and although they advertised available parking, it was in a paid lot approximately 3 blocks away.
Location, good breakfast, friendly staff, stayed there twenty years ago and it was still the same comfortable quality hotel Our room was not equiped with an enclosed shower, not even a curtain so it was difficult to take a shower that we prefer. Our traveling companions, however had a shower.
Walk around town, close to everything. Our rear facing room was very quiet. Being elderly, with heavy luggage, we did not anticipate the lack of an elevator....
Very convenient for town centre Towels were very hard and we had to ask for them - there was only one in the room when we arrived. Soap provision very basic.
Breakfast is fine. The location is very nict to visit to the town. No elevetor. Nobody helped to bring the luggages to the room. Internet was not available.
Nice and polite service. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. There is a biiig problem with parking place !
The stay satisfird out needs.
friendliness of staff steep stairs, handrails need cleaning
Quick tour of Wurzburg. Noise from street.
Janet and her staff! Again, the rooms were smaller than described.
no telephone, did not receive a smoking room as requested, had to ask to have the room made up,no elevator and lots of stairs, hotel like a self serve afair difficult to find any personnel, room so small there was no room to even put up the suitcase, space beside the bed and wall aprox. one foot.
very helpful and friendly staff, good location, traditional gasthof.
The Breakfast is amazing with lots of choices, and the service of the provider is very nice as well. THe corridor is too dark
Well situated for walking to main sight-seeing locations. None
Only the gentleman who served at breakfast. He was very kind. The price was too much for the hotel. The price could only be 60 Euros for that kind of a gasthouse. It was a huge dissappointment for us.
Starr were friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Stadt Mainz.
Courteous reception and excellent breakfast
This hotel is in a great location and is convenient to all of the historical sites in Wurzburg. The breakfast was superb with a large variety of items. The configuration is a little odd in that the check-in is in the restaurant. All of the rooms are behind an iron gate that is always locked because there is no front desk. There is a bar directly across the street and the clientele would stand outside and talk until the late hours. Our room faced the street and the noise was noticable.
friendly staff willing to help out when possible. good english which is good for us. the antique atmosphere of the dining room .
The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. The staff introduced comprehensive toursit information of Wurzburg and recommended some nicve restaurants to us. None
The owner and her son and staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean although old and worn with stained and worn towels and carpet. Very basic accomodations similar to a Motel 6 here in the states. The breakfast had many open containers that all shared (like large containers of jam instead of individual packets) and some items did not seem fresh. No internet unless you borrowed the owners personal laptop.
Staff helpful and friendly. Street noise was very load and without AC windows needed to be open for circulation. It was impossible to sleep. Parking located several blocks away and was very expensive.
Very friendly, English-speaking staff. Eager to help with maps and directions. Plentiful, goregeous breakfast (buffet style). Clean, tidy rooms. Internet available for internet cafe prices. Right in the city center, (but be prepared to be awoken at 7 by the cathedral bells). We reserved it for our relative and we wished we stayed here, not in the next door hotel (which was awful). Advise to other travelers: if a town is small, you don't have to be in the very center- it's usually much more noise and it's not necessarily better here. If you travel in a car, like we did, you would be able to find free parking in hotels further away from the center, and in this case we had to walk to our car. Thanks to the very helpful hotel manager who directed us to a free parking near the city walls! For the city's center, this hotel was great and we'd stay here if we came again! It's a very reasonable price for the money, especially if you consider this breakfast!
The room was the smallest of any we had on our 16 days of travel.
The receptionist was very helpful - he helped us find and book a restaurant for the evening. The hotel was also located right in the town centre.
Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was small, but clean and efficient. Nothing
Staff, cleanliness, breakfast - everything OK or even better. There is nothing wrong with the hotel as such. On the contrary, everything is and functions rather well, although the decor is a bit outdated and air conditioning makes a lot of noise, but doesn't really cools. What is bad is a noise from drunkards (midnight till 4 in the morning) from a noisy bar across the street - one cannot sleep.
The room was comfortable, but the staff was incredible. Everyone at the desk was always pleasant and very helpful. I contacted the hotel staff via email from the United States, and they provided us with transfer reservations, festival information, and other valuable information before we ever began our trip. One day, during our stay, we wanted to buy tickets for a Mozartfest show, but the box office was only open when we were going to be on a boat trip. Ulrich personally went to the box office to buy the tickets, and then had us pay him only when he was successful. His effort helped provide one of the great highlights of our trip. Also, as we were leaving by shuttle for an early trip to the airport, the staff wanted us to have something in lieu of the breakfast we would miss because we were departing before breakfast, so they made sack lunches for us from the hotel breakfast fare. This hotel was rated as two stars, but the personal service from the staff was better than I have ever received in a four star hotel. The breakfast included much of the typical items that are found in German hotels, but the layout was extremely elegant, and the extra touches such as caviar atop a hard boiled egg half made it feel like a special meal, certainly competing with hotels carrying more stars. But, the staff is the real gem here. There was a minor musty (like mildew) smell in our bathroom. It always faded after the window was open for a while, and the room appeared clean, but the faint smell was disappointing. But, knowing this, I would still go back again. You must see the comments about the staff.
The two men who worked the desk were very knowledgeable of the area and offered good advice on seeing the town.
Everything was as described.
Convenience to train station and historical areas No shower in room
Hotel staff are helpful There are toothpaste at the bottom of the cups at toilet. Our friends sent us driving map + cereal bars to the hotel beforehand but we only got the map from the hotel.
The hotel is very closed to the railway station and easy to find, the staff are also very kind. everything`s good
Room very clean, excellent position, nice breakfast. Normally I don't like shared wc, but there were few people and it was clean.
The staffs are very nice. The bed was uncomfortable.
Nice position by river 15-20 mins walk from town centre, quite pleasant along river and over bridge
clean and comfortable rooms. good location right on the end of the pedestrian/shopping area. Close access to visit the Residence, Castle, and other city sights.
Very convenient to the train station and the actual Altstadt. No lift but staff carried our luggage up 3 floors. Adequate and fresh breakfast but not huge variety. No air conditioning or lift. The restaurant/bar attached closes very early so one has to eat or have a drink elsewhere in the evening. No shampoo or body wash...just a very small bar of soap. No frig in room.
Owners and Staff very helpful and friendly, We were treated with courtesy. Nothing worth mentioning.
Visited the cultural high lights of this magnificent town that rebuilt itś self after 80% destroyed in March 1945. Unfortunately, this hotel was not up to the standard that we have previously experienced in Germany or from Booking.com.
