Entering the hotel is like stepping back in time. All the furnishings, the décor, and the ambiance call back to a more genteel time. Even down to the worn chenille bedspread and hand made quilt. We are used to traveling using "modern" motel chains. This was a pleasant break. And since it was our wedding night after 34 years of being together and finally being able to legally celebrate our love, it was especially appreciated. The staff was wonderful. No elevator. Couldn't stay more than one night due to difficulty traversing stairs.
The location was a perfect halfway break in our road trip. The staff was friendly, and the food in the restaurant and pub was solid and reasonably priced. This is a great place to enjoy the Shenandoah Valley on a budget.
From the street and Internet, a very cute and appealing historical hotel. The lobby looked period and I was excited for my stay. It went downhill from there. It took me going in the pub after 10 minutes of bell ringing to find someone who could check me in. The shower had rust and mold. Was told Continental breakfast would be set up in am. Not so. Front desk person told us they decided no breakfast since only one lady was staying there. I was the lady. She did offer to get mne something from the back, but I overheard her griping to the cook that now she had to do everything because breakfast had not been put out. Did not feel welcome here at all.
Great location, historic building, and authentic interior features of a bygone era. The staff are courteous and helpful. Bedding and furniture are tired and there is no sitting area to speak of, and no chairs in the smaller rooms. The continental breakfast is spartan. You can order breakfast but this wasn't really clear and there were no wait staff around.
We especially enjoyed the bar and restaurant. Great bartenders and everyone was very friendly. We love to stay at this hotel on our way up north.
I didn't like that all the elevators smell like cigarette smoke
The continental breakfast was varied, fresh and well stocked.
Friendly, efficient staff very responseI've and breakfast was good
The room was satisfactory for sleeping.. The actual amenities did not match the description. There were only 5 overall passes to the pool in the separate location. After waiting, we did get a pass but when we went, the pool was not in satisfactory condition. There was very little lighting; there was an empty jacuzzi that was being used as a garbage can -- filled with wrappers and empty bottles. the changing room smelled awful and was not clean. My daughter accurately described it as something out of a scooby doo mystery. We came back to try the arcade except that nothing worked. Only one of the ice machines worked in the entire building. After visiting the pool and being the only one brave enough to go under the water, I became violently ill during the night. I can't say for certain that it was the pool, but i feel that it was pretty likely. We will not be visiting this hotel again.
Quiet location away from highway. Above average free breakfast. Strong smell of cleaning in hallway. Room was fine.
Clean, comfortable. Great value for the price. Needed a last minute place to stay for the night, it was just what we were looking for. Hallway and elevator smelled a little of smoke.
Please write at least 15 words this hotel is quit confortable and the staff is very gentle the hotel is near the shenandoah valley
The Fairfield Inn & Suites was really nice. All of the staff was super, from the front desk clerk, housekeeping and the breakfast staff. My room was great. I would definitely stay there again. There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
Large room, great breakfast
