The place was very historical, the hostess was wonderful. Wish the beds were a little more comfortable...but overall a great place.
The hosts was very kind and the food was excellent.
Everything was great. All the people from the hotel and from the village are really nice. We have eaten the best food in greece (the amazing breakfast in the hotel - more then 15 differnt home made things - and traditional greek food in the local restaurant, "Vegera") Not hot water in the morning
Katarina, the owner, is charming, breakfast was great. Clean. There's an elevator! Very peaceful, great air at night on the balcony. Lovely village. Bathroom was a bit dark.
Amazing Greek welcome; became part of the family both here and at the only taverna. Greece as it was in the 70s; some Greek makes a difference. Mountains and walks stunning. As a newly diagnosed severe diabetic, the 17 dish breakfast feast of sweet and savoury home made sweet and savoury dishes - white buns, doughballs, cakes etc were tempting but out of bounds!
Lovely setting in the mountains. Courteous and generous service from the owners. Local eating options exceptional Highly recommend staying here if on a budget or just want to try authentic Cretan hospitality. When we arrived we were offered tea, cake, raki and fresh peanuts (not salted)! Breakfast unbelievable!
We stayed for 2 days, the place is very basic with the breakfast all made with goats milk and cheese, so if you dont like goats stuff avoid. Room had a shared balcony with another room, the furniture was worn out and one of the beds was completely knackered. Expensive for what it is, there are much better places around the area.
Absolutely worth the money. The staff was great and while no one spoke much English somehow everything worked out great. The rooms were comfortable and the complimentary breakfast consisted of some 15 different dishes of pastries. While there be sure to visit also the restaurant Vegera for some amazing food.
The best hotel in creta island.sure we come back next year.very good breakfast.raccomended dinner by vieggera.
A fantastic hotel and village. The room was clean and traditional, with the most comfortable bed ever! Great mountain and village veiws. The owners are really friendly and the breakfasts are amazing! All home-made pastries, at one point 23 plates were on our table! We had enough left over for our lunch!
The owner, Manos and his staff were fabulous! Most gracious hosts. We had a wonderful time at Eleonas. Manos scheduled a special cooking class for us. We made cheese pies, stuffed zucchini blossoms, tomatoes, and peppers, and moussaka. What great fun and it was served at the restaurant that night. The grounds around the restaurant and pool were beautiful. May want to note the number of stairs and hills for people with walking disablilities.
Excellent Hospitality, relaxing atmosphere, especially if you have small children, great food, beautiful pool, nice rooms with great spaces and well equipped. We loved it and we will certainly visit it again. Maybe the breakfast, small variations would be nice.
Great location, good value, friendly staff.
A relaxed and very friendly atmosphere inspectacular surroundings. Difficult car parking at busy times. Hilly access to some cabins for less fit/older guests.
Everything! The beuty of the place, of the nature, of the cotteges that are full of comforts. The very good food and breackfast (everything was fresh, home-made and cooked at the moment). The staff is very kind and nice: Manolis, Manto, and Koula do all to make you feel at home. It's a marvellous place from which it'is also easy to reach beautifull sea places (Matala, Kommos, Agia galini); montains (you can thake a mountain bike and there is also an horse center), and the archeologichal site of Knosso, Festos, Agia Triada. At the end of the day was so nice to stay in the swimming pool looking the sky, the trees, the nature, the roses, without any noise and after have a very, very good dinner! It's, really a little piece of paradise.
We loved the palazzo greco. It is a fantastic new hotel. Stylish and total clean rooms, an amazing designer bathroom!!! The breakfast fast not that big but ok. (Bread, jam, honey, cereals, cheese, ham, tomatoes, eggs, cake, melon, fresh juice, milk and coffee) The room had a new small kitchen with dishes and refrigerator. The pool was nice, too. The best hotel in agia galini The air conditioning was not working really good. It was slow and not very cold.
Good standard of fittings in the room, including good shower which we have found to be rare in Crete. Good location with great view and close to restaurant area of Agia Galini. Relatively small room with little sound insulation.
The Palazzo Grecco was a beautiful hotel. It was a pleasure to stay there. The room was delightful with matching furniture and the standard of cleanliness excellent. The view from our room was spectacular. There was nothing about the Hotel we did not like during our stay, the only improvements we would suggest if that it would have nice to have some more comfortable chairs to enjoy the view from our terrace, and it would have been nice to have been able to buy drinks and snacks.
Probably the nicest hotel in Agia Galini. Very nice room with an astonishing view. Very nice breakfast. Very friendly and helpful owners No cooking equipment provided in the apartment
The location & view from the pool is excellent & the staff were very friendly Bed was quite hard but the staff provided additional softer mattresses. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit harsh & uncomplimentary!
Noisy hotel, rooms dirty, bed never done but the breakfast was good and the staff a bit kind
it's a normal hotel with a beautiful view Not so good price/quality ratio.
lovely rooms, good power shower, really nice place
The rooms were brightly decorated, the staff were extremely friendly and the location was perfect. Just a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The kitchenette could have been stocked slightly better. There was not enough cutlery for two people to eat. Nor were there utensils for the fryingpan. A toaster would have been nice.
Stunning views. The rooms are simple but well decorated. The place where it is located is really nice. I booked for 3 night through booking.com but couldn't make the three days together so had to do 2 different reservations with two different rooms and differents prices. The most expensive room was not available so we were given a room for the 3 nights, which was great so that we didn't have to move. I didn't like that we were charged two prices: 95€ and 75€ for the same room. Very unfair!!
Great value for money, extremely inexpensive yet included pool and breakfast and good size room.
Breakfast Buffet Pool Clean Linens Would have preferred a double bed, Not two single side-by-side. (Asked for a double in the reservation).
The hotel is just a 6 min walk from the town of Matala & the lovely tavernas & shops selling traditional Greek goods & art. The hotel supplies a great breakfast inc.coffee/tea, juice, bread, eggs, spreads & yogurt etc. The pool is great & ideal for kids as it has a shallow end (3 feet) & a deep end (6 feet) plus a childs pool alongside. The room is perfect & has a lovely large patio area with tables & chairs where you can relax before going out in the evening. The rooms are clean and tidy, with a fridge/freezer, tv & safe. Perfect location for exploring Crete as you can hire a car & take the left (lovely), or right coastal routes or drive North and explore inland. No complaints at all and am ready to book for September 2011. We had to leave :( but we will be back next year :)
Great location, a few minutes walk from the centre. Good breakfast, and lovely pool area. Room and bathroom clean but dated, but for such a good price it didnt really matter! Hard to find on the way into Matala, but a sign is visible as you exit the village. The turning is opposite the Matala Bay Hotel.
Very nice white wine bottle included!
We like the location, The pool is very clean, also the room was very comfortable
The room was large and spotless. There is a new small swimming pool by the building, where breakfast is served. I think for this rate we couldn' t have found anything close to better...
This hotel was perfect. The staff was friendly and accommadating. The hotel was a short walk to town and the beach. The room was comfortable.
Quiet, convenient for the town on foot, well organised, clean towels everyday, clean bed linen every 2 days, very pleasant, helpful and efficient owner. The bathroom. The floor had to be permanently wet as the shower tray had no curtain/door. The washbasin tap was high and so running water bounced into the basin and out on to the lavatory, which was also permanently wet! Water heated by solar power, so if no sun no hot water. We were lucky 6 out of 7 days. This is Greece!
very nice budget accommodations. Very clean room and grounds, great pool. Brekkie was included in our price...was decent but nothing special. Wifi good but works only in eating and pool area. Not right by the beach but only a about a 1/2 a km, 7 or 8 minute walk. Matala is really awesome
It was very convenient for Heraklion airport, especially as we were 3 hours late and arrived at 10pm Dog barking ALL NIGHT LONG - because of this we would NEVER stay at this hotel again
delightful setting, very interesting concept for a hotel No!
Amazing--a room in a traditional village. My room had slate floors and was just off of an old road/alley and connected to shop of traditional folk art etc.Restaurant staff was so kind and inviting. Olive trees and stucco--incredible ambience. Part of the general ambience of Crete and Greece is the cats. While I was there a group of children separated a new kitten from its mother. The kitten was abandoned and meowing pittifully. The woman at the taverna (not restaurant) was very heartless regarding kitten and would not even sell me milk for it. All the while other visitors were enjoying the villages stray cats and were also concerned about the kitten. This was single handedly the only disturbing thing I found in my entire stay in Greece.
Rustic setting, beautiful location, big rooms Mix up on reservations--either booking.com or hotel at fault. Staff was very accomodating, though, and got us rooms.
The rooms seemed in need of renovation .Although out of season more of an effort could have been made with the breakfast !!
It is a beautiful small village transformed into a hotel!!!
the quiet and solitude , the attractive and well appointed room the view from our room was a bit blighted by ugly buildings
We stayed two nights at the Delrina Mountain Resort, a jewel of hotel at the slopes of the gorgeous Psiloritis mountain. A genuine mountain resorts with many pleasant facilities. We hope to return! Magnus and Gabriele
The room was spacious and the view was beautiful. The food was very good as well. Transportation to and from Anogia or other nearby towns would be beneficial, or let people know that they require to rent a car before arriving.
- Pool was always very clean - quite room - in walking distance to village center with nice restaurants
I went to Greece with a group of eight young professionals. We took a week to tour the islands. It was our cheapest hotel we stayed in on our trip, but the nicest. The villas are so cute with modern interior. I would totally recomend this place.
Our bungalow was spacious, clean and ready and made for an enjoyable stay. Bathroom had both lovely bathtub as well as shower compartment. Fixtures were modern and there was tons of storage space. The family members, especially Dimitrios were really warm and welcoming and did everything they could to make us comfortable. Unfortunately, we were the first clients of the season, and they really weren't ready for us. They were filling swimming pools, and construction workers were all over the village. Also, no food or drink available at that time, although we were able to get breakfast.
The breakfasts and the service The noise of some insects (chicharras) during the morning
Very pleasant, quiet surroundings, excellent service. For a peaceful vacation. Equipment appropriate category hotel.
On the beach, friendly staff Room standard could be slighly better but clean and nice views from balcony
The location cclose to the beach is superb. The hotel was maintained to a good condition and rooms were clean and well kept. The breakfast was excellent and it was great to eat it in view of the sea. Only one lady spoke English and in her absence communication was not easy.
Good value for money. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Good position next to a large beach. Quiet location in a small resort.
Very good quality-price rate. Very clean.
Very friendly staff. Nice, clean rooms. We were lucky to get a room on top of the roof, which gave us access to the whole roof as terrace. The position of the hotel towards the rest of Kalamaki is very good, it's the best position you can find in the village, a little bit away from the boulevard where with one hotel beside the other. Next to the hotel there is a Taverna called "Marina" which serves the best (home made) food of the village. The beach is right across the (not very much frequented) street. Although the breakfast buffet was acceptable for this type of hotel I would have liked a bit more variation and especially a real orange juice instead of the sweet "nectar" you get in to many hotels around the world.
Beach with free sunbeds just in front the hotel or if you prefere in 5 minutes you can walk along the sea in a "wild" sandy beach. Breakfast is very good, served in a nice terrace in front to the sea. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are large and nice (bat for the double bed that is blocked in an angle of the room). Easy private parking. Very near to interesting archeological sites. In the area strong winds can blow. In case you have to drive 10km to Matala or to other more protected beaches.
We loved everything about the hotel! The family who runs this place is very friendly and helpful. It is virtually by the beach and thanks to Kalamaki localization The only thing you hear when going to sleep is the sea. Breakfest is good, rooms are very clean. We will surely come back to Alexander's next time we go to Crete.
lovely family-run hotel in a very small village on the sea, very friendly and helpful staff, careful on details. Free parking, wifi, beach, sunbeds and umbrellas. Perfect for family in need of total relax and nothing to do apart for staying on the beach, lots of regular customers from central/northern Europe. At 45 eur/night is unbeatable! not so easy to find, follow Kalamaki and then the hotel is well indicated once you get to the village. Its main advantage could also be a problem: it's calm and relaxing but there's nothing around and you have to be motorized.
Nice sized rooms, good location and services.
Sunningdale Hotel is a quiet place close to the beach, within walking distance (15 min) of the center of Agia Galini. The surroundings were a bit smelly, especially in the morning on the terrace while we were having breakfast. The room with "sea view" is not worth the extra money!
10 points for 3 persons in a 60-euro room, 20 euros per person. Simple, but everything is there, the beach 3 minute-walk away. I would also like to mention that the ceilings in the rooms were high, I like that. We got the sea, the sun and a different breakfast every day for that price!
The friendliness, warm welcome, locality, extreme helpfulness from owners, hospitality, surroundings - superb place to stay. The fact that it was family run made all the difference as it was more personal. Perhaps if we need to give negative, although the shower was adequate it was very small.
quiet, friendly athmosphere
Nice pool area Located a short walk from beach and town
Excellent price / quality: cosy hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast buffet.
The hotel itself is fairly basic by U.S. standards -- but the owner's hospitality (and wonderful breakfast) made the stay. The hotel is in a quiet area just a few minutes walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk to town where there are great places to eat and shop. We were there too early in the season (early April) for the pool to be open and the free internet was down the day we were there.
Nice atmosphere, sweet owners, beautiful garden, breakfast is served in a beautiful veranda in the garden, very nice traditional-style decoration. It is a perfect place if you are looking for a simple, sweet, small, family owned place for relaxing holidays. Only very basic hotel facilities are available but everything you find there, is well-cared.
The owner Vasili was so welcoming and kind. This was our first night in Crete and nothing was too much trouble for him. He was a perfect host and looked after us very well and told us a lot about the area and surroundings.
Room well furnished with characteristic elements. Beautiful little terrace. Direction very kind and helpful. Good breakfast.
Good value basic small hotel. Clean room and fairly good continental breakfast. Ideal location for the restaurants and shops of this small charming town. Friendly German manager. Was able to park free right outside hotel. Glad we stayed port side of town rather than beach side as far more restaurants and shops near the port. Not very good views as bigger buildings accross the road block out most of the sea view. Steep paths and steps down to to centre of village/town. Would probably select a hotel with a better view if visit village again.
