Marco his wife and staff were all really friendly and helpful. The location is in the centre of the town, close to beach, harbour, bars etc. Value for money compared to some of the hotels used on this trip was superb. May be that our visit was out of season but the breakfast available although not expensive was limited in choice.
Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The hotel is in the centre of Mundaka which has some smashing beaches. A bit tired and scruffy. Our bed had as much give as a pool table (not that i have slept on that many pool tables).
The hotel staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, this made the stay, the location was great, close to the beach and easy to find a bite to eat, the rooms were big and very clean, bathroom/shower very good. Nope, it was all good.
Hotel situated very near the sea- a pretty sea side resort
Close (30mins drive) to Bilbao Airport
Location They don't have dinner service
The very pleasant staff - ever so helpful. They spoke excellent English and would go out of the way to help you - eg get you that tiny screwdriver for your camera and reserve your bicycle way in advance.
The location near the viewing point for the surfing is marvellous. The staff were friendly and efficient. I will use this to mention that I have not read the guest reviews on your website alluded to below
They were fantastic.
Hotel staff were really nice and the river view is beautiful
Value for money.
Internet Access Should pay attention for the cleaning and it would be a 4****
Extremely friendly, very helpful staff. Train station to the heart Bilbao opposite the hotel.
Excellent hotel and staff. Excellent value for money. We will go there again Breakfast Buffet was not too good. No eggs, bacon etc. and not enough pastry.
i liked the fact that everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable
Wonderful surprise and the best of all the hotels booked through your service. No.
The whole experience was simply great. Extremely enjoyable. Nothing
The location and ambience of this hotel was excellent. The dinner was great and staff excellent
Está bien, es lo que se espera en esta categoría.
The hotel was in the mountains, overlooking Mondragon. It had lovely views of the town and neighbouring mountains. The hotel was very modern inside, beautiful big rooms, great bar (with fantastic prices), and the evening meal was brilliant. Lots of countryside to explore, but sitting out on the terrace overlooking the town with a glass of wine was lovely. My two young girls enjoyed the playground also, and there was plenty of space to play. We were only there for one night, but could easily have stayed a week. Highly recommended. None whatsoever.
Lovely bright and clean rooms. Out of town so no noise from pubs etc Staff efficient friendly, restaurant good value.Great selections of essentials in the bathroom. Difficult to find even with gps bed a bit too hard for liking
Wonderfully welcoming staff. Gorgeous bathroom (weird comment, but it was great). Well, be warned, smoking is still acceptable all over Spain. It was pretty overwhelming in the dining room.
The hotel is obviously new and the decor is lovely and fresh. The rooms are very spacious, light and airy. There are lovely views and is in a quiet position. Although the staff don't speak english, they do have their restaurant menus in more than one language which was helpful - the food selection wasn't huge and was quite basic, but it was nice food. We booked this hotel as a stop off on a longer journey and our choice was based on the availability of private onsite parking. It is a bit of a pain to find and up steep hills (not good if you have a trailer!)
I wanted a hotel that would break up a long journey and this hotel was in the right place. The location is stunning, on the side of a mountain with great views, just outside the town of Mondragon which you need to drive through to get to the hotel. Could be difficult if you were using a map but the sat nav took me straight to the front door. The rooms are large and of a standard you would expect in a classy city centre hotel and have wifi or plug-in internet access. The bar is small and do snacks and although I didn't use the restaurant I was told it was a bit expensive. Breakfast is included but don't expect too much, if I had paid extra for it I would have been very disappointed. Good value for money at €50. Make sure you learn a little Spanish as the staff didn't speak any English on my two visits.
Loved the location and the view. Our room (which was the most expensive, mind) was fantastic - and the ensuite was great too. Difficult to find - check their website for directions and aim to go into the car park of the red restaurant (the road to the hotel leads off it) Room service was non-existent! We phoned to get a bottle of cava, but it never turned up despite us phoning twice, and going down to reception (and being told it was on the way). We gave up and went to bed!
The calmness of the magnificent location, the wonderful design, the courteous friendliness of the staff, the proximity of nice beaches and interesting towns of the Basque country, the great porch where we spent the evenings (enjoying a picnic, the wine of the region and the sound of the cowbells ;-)) The rooms are a little bit clairaudient
It was beautifully presented, immaculately clean with friendly professional staff. Signing from the main road is nonexistent
Excellent location, beautiful house with very nice, helpful owners. Would highly recommend
The room was clean and the breackfast was very good. The stuff was very friendly. My room had no air condition so it was very hot inside. It is almost impossible to sleep with open window because it was very noisy outside.
Location No air conditioning
The breakfast was nice, the hotel has good connections to/from Bilbao and other cities by public transport (bus connection is good, fast and cheap). The people in the hotel nearly don't speak/understand English which is not always easy as not everyone speaks/understands Spanish/Bask. The isolation of the rooms needs a big improvement (this was my second visit over here as my relatives live in this village) as you could still hear people in the room next to you, even if they talked silent...so when others are awake you are as well...
convienience to my work, clean, location to restaurants and bars poor parking, breakfast not replenished very well
Good rooms Poor parking
The simpathy of the reception staff Absence of air conditionning is a serious cause of disconfort in hot periods due to the characteristics of the location ( deep narrow valley )
Comfort, silent, value for money, location. Recently redecorated. Very good in any aspect
Please write at least 15 words
The views, the town, the staff, the room, pretty much everything was cool. Nothing. Everything was awesome.
Staff helpful, roomsvery good Food poor
Very smart hotel. Friendly helpful reception staff, with good standard of English Clean, spacious, uncluttered, practical rooms. Loved the underfloor heating. Free parking on-site. The option of reasonably priced, though not gastronomically mindblowing buffet dinner. Can't comment on the breakfast as we made our own arraignments. Not sure if the empty fridge in our room was supposed to be a mini bar or not, but we found it useful anyway. Free functional Wifi in rooms. Quiet location, the only noise we could hear from outside was the cow bells jingling in the nearby fields. The noise insulation between the rooms is less effective though - amorous couples take note ;) A little bit far from Bilbao - a car is a must. Yet another inaccurate booking.com location map icon (possibly not the hotel's fault - but don't bother trying to use it as a navigation aid - the hotel's on the main road at the northern edge of the town). A strange drain-like smell some areas of the hotel. This maybe a one off problem, poss due to intense rain during our stay.
Nice natural surroundings, modern room, very good free wifi Rooms have thin walls, I could hear everything what was going on in the neighbour room
The quietness of the location and it was easy to get to Bilbao even though it is about 20kms away. The room was very clean and comfortable. The smell of the swimming pool seemed to permeate all the public areas of the hotel and seemd to make the air in the public areas very damp. Maybe it need to be better ventilated and closed off from the rest of the hotel. The smell was not evident in our room though.
visit the surrounding, perfect basis to visit Basque coast
the location, the style of hotel rooms
Beautifully designed hotel with helpful, attentive staff and wonderful food. The location and views are really beautiful. Swimming pool and gardens are immaculate. A lovely place to relax or explore the northern spanish coast.
Great place but expensive for what it is, well worth a stop though.
beautiful hotel, very friendly people, very nice surroundings. We enjoyed it very much!
very nice clean room with view. extremely friendly hosts. Reasonable price none
Everything, starting with the hosts and finish with location.Highly recommend and I suggest to everyone who travel in the Basque country,to stop for one night in this hotel. They never regret.Positive 100%.Cristian from Toronto
Nice hotel, nice rooms, nice position in front of the Sea. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and the woman is a first class cook!! Perfect for business and also for a romantic weekend... I will return there for sure!
Fantastic localization, with great sea view. Nice design hotel with very kind personnel. The restaurant was closed in the day we stayed there. not so big room for the expectations created by the photos.
the view, rooms and decor It would be nice if they provided lunch as it is a nice place to stay for a whole day
The hotel staff was extremely helpful. Undaunted by a language barrier, the woman at the desk went out of her way to help us with parking and chilling down some wine. She made us feel at home. And we loved our view, in this seventeenth-century house, of the medieval church.
The location, in main square just as short walk from beach and nice bars was ideal. Lekeitio is a small town with nice port, bars and town beach. Ideal for a few days. Free wifi. Only 7 rooms so nice and small, owner very friendly but had limited English It has just been renovated but as it's an old building it was a bit noisey from the floor boards above
It was a small nice village by the coast. A genuin village with a lot of fishingboats. There was good restaurants even though at a higher level of price. A possiblity to get a bigger breakfast to a extra cost. Some extra bread and cheese, ham and eggs would be fine if that could be a possibility.
Location and staff none
Excellent location and all around. Lekietio is vibrant and offers much. Parking is arranged free after you find the hotel. Look for the cathederal when driving there.
Staff was very helpful on locating sites to visit. Free parking was available nearby on the street.
The rooms are comfortable. I didn't like the breakfast room. It is a bar in the basement and it is allowed to smoke. The included breakfast is only a coffee, a juice, and a pastry. Additionally, I had troubles with the WIFI.
the quiet place and the comfortable beds We did not like the following: Rudeness of bar staff, poor dinner menu, very stodgy food, so-so breakfast, horrid orange juice, the fact that the bar shut at 22.58, the atmosphere which was between an old folks home and a convent school, the plastic bags and other rubbish entangled in the river, the weeds in the front area, etc
The room was very beautiful and comfortable. the air conditioner didn't worked (so we had to sleep with the windows open which helped enter a very cool breeze) and there was a big celebration downstairs so we couldn't eat dinner there and it was a little difficult to sleep later, due to the noise.
It was well situated. The staff were helpful and the evening meal was very good value for money. Nothing to do with the hotel, but our car had a problem that was fixed by a local mechanic. Only it wasn't fixed and we had to take to a Mercedes garage in Gijon.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the dinner at the restaurant was really great (and only 18€ per person).
The manager John, spoke fluent English. He went out of his way to make our stay as interesting and enjoyable as possible. Very good value for money
Excellent customer service; good food and comfortable room None
Bloodsucking parasite insects in bed
What a beatiful view from the window!
Location was very convenient for accessing the various parts of the Basque Coastline (Bizkaia) that my husband was interested in for surfing. There was an unfortunate incident of a fire alarm going off in the middle of the night for 3 hours. However, the staff made an effort to discount our stay for the disruption.
Convenient to visit Gernika and only 2 hours from Santander Dinner at €18 was expensive for the menu available.
Read Books The meager breakfast No hot water for the Showers ! Worst hotel we have stayed in.
Location. Staff were very kind and friendly. Dinner menu was excellent!!! It had better to set a sign to turn right (in case of driving from Bilbao) at 32km point on N-240 road.
This was a delightful hotel in the Basque heartland. Very quiet in a great setting with proximity to the mountains and forrest. A good base for visiting Bilbao for the day. The hospitality and personal attention of the owner made our stay a memorable one. I give it 10/10.
Peace and quiet, relaxed atmosphere.
We had a wonderful time there. The hotel is owned and operated by a family and we took comfort in knowing that they really love and care what they do and would endeavour to ensure all needs are met for their guests. The environment was serene and beautiful within stone's throw away from some of the most magnificient scenery. We were well looked after.
Extraordinary scenery, mountain and forest scape, in the heart of the Basque Country. Close to every place to visit, Bilbao, San Sebastian... the coast. Gorbeia mountain is great: easy to climb after a good breakfast before leaving the hotel. Any case I recommend you to walk through the nearby Biscayan forests. Everything was perfect
The owners of this hotel are excellent hosts. You really feel like home and they treat you like royalty. We loved our stay and the beautiful scenery from the rooms. Also check-in and check-out are flawless.
Excellent brand new design countryside small hotel. Clean and comfortable room. Helpful personal attention. Splendid breakfasts.
The owners are very friendly people who will do anything to make you feel at home. They also know a lot off the history and culture from Bask Country. The hotel is beautiful and all the rooms have an amazing few over the beautiful Bask Country. The hotel is nearby the cities Bilbao (30 min.) and San Sebastian, but also nearby the beaches and the natural park Gorbeia. We had a great vacation and we will return for sure. Nothing, everything was very good.
Excellent food and the Menu del Dia was extremly good value and delicious. The restaurant environment was very stuffy which disocuraged us from eating here - and the waitresses did not speak to us at all, even to apologise when one of them tipped my husbands main course all over the table!
Location on the beachsite Their Spa and Wellness is very poor. It doen't smell good, it doesn't look good, it is out of date and dirty; ready for a big maintenance and overhaul. They still try to charge you for the use of the pool, what I refused.
This hotel is situated in a prime beachside location, however it is begining to look a bit tired.
Proximity to the beach not well sign posted and difficult to find because of building work blocking the entrance.
Nice enough place although basic and a little dated. Parking was difficult at times. Needed updating and a thorough clean. Seemed expensive for standard of hotel.
The bed was comfortable. The spa was nice. The restaurant food was not good, but for the price you couldn't complain. A shame because the view is so good. It is better to eat somewhere in town.
Value for money meals at the hotel restaurant. Improvements needed in facilities as general
We only stayed one night and therewere no problems at all. Staff were very helpful.
beach view from room was very nice, and Deba is a pleasant town with good atmosphere. spa would benefit from some investment, as it looks a bit tired.
Excellent location, lovely bedroom with hydrotherapy bath. Advertised bar and cafe not open. After a long journey we were only offered a snack from a machine - no thank you! No hot water or heating on first day. Reception staff did not arrive until 9.20 AM on day of departure for our 8.00 AM checkout. Management totally absent. In summary, nice location, nice building, very badly managed. If we had not already been delayed so much we would have insisted on the Manager being summoned but we doubt if he would have turned up.The only hotel we have ever stayed in that we should demand our money back.
the main view of the hotel is great, unfortunately the ocean is far enough to walk down relatively far from main attractions of the area
We really enjoyed our stay in the Gametxo it was so quiet and peaceful the rooms were excellent and the staff very helpful and spoke very good English.
Excellent hotel and staff. Perfect location for someone who appreciates nature and quiet. Convenient for travellers wanting to discover France, as this hotel is about an hour and a half from France by car. A mini-fridge in the room would've been nice.
Absolutely amazing hotel!!! We stayed in a room with ocean and mountain views! Great place to stay! Just a heads up to anyone staying there, make sure they start the hot water heater before your stay because it takes a long time to heat up, especially if you are on the top floor. We didn't have hot water our first day there but after that no problems.
Excellent views from the hamlet. Quiet and relaxing hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very poor local amenities, impossible to park to go to the beach. No restaurants within walking distance and nowhere to park when you found one! I expected to be able to walk more as it was in the country but we had to drive everywhere.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, plus provided advice about the range of eating places and locations to visit. There is not a bar, but we found a very cosy sitting area to enjoy our after dinner drinks on a "bring your own" basis. Views from both the front and back of the hotel are fantastic - the mountains or the Bay of Biscay - we were fortunate to enjoy very good weather for our long weekend. This is not really a "did not like" - but its a warning to new visitors not to try to find the hotel in the dark! Its up a very long and winding single track road and needs a good degree of determination to get to the top of the hill. But it is really worth the effort!
The view is fantastic. The apartments were fitted to a high standard (although some minor replacements are now needed, chipped cups, broken lid on bin). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was advertised as for 2/4 people. The room the sofa bed was in was quite small, so when unfolded the sofa bed was practically in the kitchen corner. The second room would be very small for 4 people.
lovely hotel and setting. Staff very pleasant and helpful. directions to hotel were very poor. It took us a long time driving around before we found someone who spoke English who was able to give tell us the way. A map and more accurate instructions would be very helpful.
Lovely views friendly staff clean rooms As the hotel has no eating facilities for lunch and dinner you have to drive away from hotel to eat as hotel is in remote location
Very good welcome, helpful with maps etc, lots of products provided, very good quality furnishings and decor. We were most disapointed that the restaurant was closed the day after the national holiday as we chose the hotel because of the food write up. It would have been good to be informed beforehand.
Lovely place, peaceful surroundings. Full of exotic touches and aromas thanks to the nice Miriam who take care of every detail to make your stay more pleasant . Thank you for this experience!
