Methodology

Insights in the Travel Check-in: Summer deals 2026 report are based on an analysis of flight searches made on KAYAK between 3.1.2026 and 4.10.2026 for travel between 5.21.2026 and 9.8.2026.

‘Trending destinations’ are defined as destinations with the biggest year-over-year increase in search volume.

All flight prices mentioned are average prices for round-trip flights in economy class for the defined travel period, and departing from any airport in the US. Prices may vary and be no longer available.

To present price developments by travel dates over the summer weeks, the average flight prices per full week of summer (Monday to Sunday) from anywhere in the US to domestic and international destinations are each calculated.

The 3 US holidays considered are 4th of July and Labor Day Weekend (LDW). The analysis is based on flight searches made in the same search period as for the rest of the report using the travel dates defined below for each holiday:

July 4th: the travel period between 6.27.2026 and 7.6.2026, compared with the travel period between 6.28.2025 and 7.7.2025.

LDW: the travel period is between 9.2.2026 and 9.9.2026, compared with the travel period between 8.27.2025 and 9.3.2025.
