AFTERNOON
Hope you have your walking shoes on (just kidding!). Get comfortable, we’re about to start the tour to the heart of the city.
Talk like a local
German is spoken by over 200 million of people around the world, mainly in Europe. It’s also the second most widely spoken Germanic language after English. Ready to learn a few words?
“Danke”
Thank you!
An important one to master.
“Kiez”
This is the local word for neighborhood, and since Berlin has many unique neighborhoods, this word is used dilligently by Berliners.
“Geil”
Though your language app might say otherwise, this word is used to describe something cool.
“Späti”
Späti refers to the corner stores around the city, that are open late (spät means late) and cater to the night owls.
“Ick”, not “ich”
Ich means “I” and it’s usually pronounced eeysh. Though not in Berlin. Here you’ll hear people pronounce it something closer to ick.

Afternoon at the museum
Take a virtual tour of the impressive Museum Island, home to the legendary bust of Nefertiti, the Pergamon Altar and the Ishtar Gate.

Fun facts
With almost 200 within the city limits, Berlin is said to have more museums than rainy days.
Additionally, Berlin is home to the longest open air gallery in the world. With a little over 1.3km, the East Side Gallery features over 100 murals from global artists.

Happy hour
It’s not just for brunch – a mimosa’s just the right thing to transport you to Berlin’s Golden Twenties, a decade defined by cultural and artistic experiments.
Dinner
Berlin’s most popular street food, the Döner Kebab is a modern take on the Turkish kebab. We can’t guarantee that the local saying ‘Döner macht schöner’ (Döner makes you more beautiful) is true, but we can guarantee that you’ll love it. Order delivery and support a local restaurant on OpenTable or cook up your own.

Cultural encounters
Get yourself acquainted with German culture and history by watching a movie, reading a book or catching a live show.
