Day 2: Touring Palestine

Your final stop will be Palestine where you can embrace the Piney Woods Region at its finest! Explore the expansive forests that surround the region as you indulge in great food and local history.

Big Thicket National Preserve

With nearly 40 miles of trails, you could easily spend an entire day exploring this national preserve. Be sure to check out the visitors center before embarking on your hike to get recommendations from park rangers.

Sam Houston National Forest

As one of four national forests in Texas, this expansive area is definitely worth exploring. With over 163,000 acres of land, there are a lot of trails to choose from, but the Lone Star Hiking Trail is among the most popular.

The Historic Texas Theatre

Opening in 1930, this historic venue is a stunning example of Spanish Colonial architecture. Check their website for upcoming performances.
