Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "It would be nice to have a little more room on airplanes anymore..."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing."
Cons: "The airline should have reviewed who was delayed on their connection and wait at least 5-10 minutes to accommodate me for a delayed connection. We ended up at the gate for the final leg of my flight and the door closed 30 seconds prior. Very poor internal communications and lack of customer care."
Pros: "Boarding fast"
Cons: "Bus took forever"
Pros: "We arrived safely"
Cons: "The plane was only 3 seats across, one seat, aisle, two seats. Very tiny!"
Cons: "Missed this flight due the delayed previous glight"
Cons: "My flight was delayed 5hrs and added multiple connecting flights that I didn’t need. I had a 6am flight and didn’t get to my destination until 11pm."
Cons: "Boarding was a chaos, so many passengers didn’t know which line they should follow, everything was unbearably slow"
Cons: "death in family. refuse to refund tickets. I will never fly united again."
Cons: "My flight from OKC to Denver was cancelled the night before and United neglected to inform me. I learned about my cancelled flight at the OKC airport. United has all my contact information and Im a frequent flyer with United, so they had no reason for not contacting me. Another example of poor customer service."
Pros: "The only positive to this flight was that after sitting on hold with United's customer service, it took less than 10 minutes for them to grant me a refund."
Cons: "I ended up backing out of this flight and booking out of a different airport and with a different airline bc apparently this flight with United has been seriously delayed (4+ hours) multiple times before. We were told that the flight was cancelled for the 2 days prior."
Cons: "Delays, very bad customer service"
Cons: "It only takes 1hour from LAx. They fudged the flight time to always show they arrive early.. It's fraud"
Pros: "Flight was smooth and comfortable. Flight attendants were kind and courteous."
Cons: "The speaker system was a little loud when announcements were made."
Pros: "The crew was incredibly nice, and the plane was very clean."
Pros: "Only good thing was the crew. They were good natured even though a roundtrio flight if six hours took 25 because of delay after delay"
Cons: "Too many delays"
Cons: "They kept delaying the flight. It stressed me out."
Pros: "The crew members were outstanding. Everything went smoothinly"
Cons: "The entertainment unit did not work."
Pros: "From what I encountered at the crack of dawn this morning... The staff handled somnolent, irratable passengers in a full capacity 757, with nothing but unwaivering efforts and kindness. (shrieking baby temper-tantrums, service dogs, and people allergic to service dogs included) Even while dealing with the most self-entitled, disappointingly inconsiderate individuals, the flight attendants kept their composure and remained understanding, professional and accomadating. As for that rude, pompous pig of a woman up in front.. try and remember we're all human here and you should attempt to treat others like so. I can't imagine the staff being particularly fond of the idea of spending an hour delay with your continuous, huffy bitching in their ear. (as if they have any control over the situation"
Cons: "Me and my boyfriend's seats were separated on both flights.. apparently it was in the fine print.. I don't know :/ kind of sleasey, kind of lame. Be transparent. Luckily, met a great guy who had no issues switching! :)"
Pros: "The flight crew and gate personnel were courteous and professional., as were theTSA workers."
Cons: "Seating was crowded and uncomfortable. My seat wouldn't recline."
Pros: "Good leg room"
Cons: "The first class experience was very sub par we did not feel we got our money's worth"
Pros: "I was pleased with the nonstop option from Chattanooga to Chicago."
Cons: "I have a bag that I have travelled with as a very on for years and I know that it fits in the overhead compartments of this size plane, but on both outbound and inbound I was made to gate check. Upon boarding there was plenty of room in the bins. The waiting at the end of each flight made the gateway crowded and replanting inefficient. Either have all bags checked upon check in with stricter guidelines or put overhead items into a lottery system."
Cons: "No room for bags"
Pros: "Snacks, gate attendants were super helpful with directions to connecting flight gates f"
Pros: "They at least had the option for live TV on one of the flights, but wanted $8, when Southwest gives it to you free."
Cons: "The gate agent also just seemed and unpleasant in general. The leg room is the worst in the industry, it's absolutely terrible"
Pros: "Didn't crash"
Cons: "Booked two seats at same time and they weren't by one another. Plane was not full so asked ticket counter if they find two seats together but did not want last row because seats don't recline. Clerk said those were only seats together so she she said she'd move us to exit row (still separate middle seats). However, seats were not actually exit row and they did not recline. So we simply got moved to separate middle seats in a different, a row that didn't recline."
Cons: "The flight got delayed and we were told it was "basically cancelled" so we got on a different flight out for the morning but were told we couldn't get a hotel voucher because we volunteered to get off the flight. Very disappointed, will never fly united again. The flight ended up getting cancelled 5 minutes after we "volunteered" to get a different flight too. Luckily we were able to get onto a different airline who helped us out. United dropped the ball big time."
Pros: "Everything was perfect - the pretzel packs looked like they were from 2007 and stale but I don't care about that. The pilots landing there and back were like we landed on clouds - not a single bump or jolt. The flights left on time and arrived early. The staff at gate and plane were so helpful and happy and knew how to do their jobs and not opposed to doing it with a smile. I have flown over the world and these two flights on united were the best."
Cons: "The important things were perfect - the pretzels were stale but who really cares about pretzels! The pilot is the most important and they were great!"
Pros: "Very friendly and kept us up to date with the issues we had with off-loading about ever 15 minutes."
Cons: "It took 50 minutes after we landed to park and get off the plane."
Pros: "Free Wi-Fi delivered entertainment system to your own mobile device"
Cons: "You should be able to download the United Airlines app required for the entertainment service without having to buy the wifi service. This caught my children out on our first flight of this multi flight trip"
Pros: "Air traffic control stopped all flights to Chicago, so my itinerary got changed and ended up taking American Airlines."
Cons: "Because it didn't go anywhere."
Cons: "Plane change from lie down seats to regular. Intermittent sound on TV. Only movies & not very good. Attendant spilled water on me & iPad filling glass for window passenger. Seat reclinred but needed to be manually pulled upright. Not very good value for 1st class ticket price."
Pros: "Nothing it didn't happen."
Cons: "The flight was cancelled and I was not helped with a hotel or car so now I am stuck for two more days until I can get home"
Pros: "How helpful and polite everyone was.. This is only my second time to fly and was a good experience. Thank you"
Pros: "Crew- very efficient on the ground andon the air"
Cons: "Inner flights no entertainment. Maybe dhould go wifi like LH"
Cons: "A one-way a form from BWI to Denver is $169. The cost of an upgrade for this flight from Houston to BWI was $589. Please explain that United."
Pros: "I had long waiting time for my flight from ORD and asked at stall if i can get early flight and the person at desk checked the system and get me early flight with no charge in cooperative and helpful manner with smiley gesture ."
Pros: "punctuality, crew"
Cons: "seats on EMB175 are just not meant for flights longer than an hour. Absolutely no low back support on a firm seat flat as a 2x4 makes for a miserable experience, particularly after a previous intercontinental flight."
Pros: "Crew was awesome."
Cons: "NO entertainment whatsoever unless you purchased it, $5 is expensive"
Pros: "The crew was great at keeping us updated on timing for takeoff. I had a narrow window for a connecting flight and they announced this prior to landing for everyone who didn't need to hurry to stay seated, so that those of us with this connection could run to make it"
Cons: "First of all, it was a completely full flight. Crew were asking people to volunteer for another flight as well as asking people to check their carry on luggage because of the space limitations....United charges for carry on....they basically are ASKING for this problem. People Are now cramming what the can into a "carry on size" just to avoid paying these fees. And now while we're boarding people are strewn about the cabin trying to find a place for their bags. Now once everyone is boarded and sitting on a hot plane with no air circulation...they tell us maintenance is being done and we will be held up for another half hour. If this was known, why board everyone! Why not let us wait in the aircon airport in Houston and then board everyone. The leg room on this flight was by far the smallest I've seen. again, no mercy when asking for an exit row or a seat with a little more leg room because it "costs extra". Not being able to DO anything about my height, I feel this is unfair!"
Pros: "It was on time"
Pros: "good food, free beer, good seat back screens"
Cons: "757s are cramped for a transatlantic flight"
Pros: "The space and complimentary drinks."
Cons: "The boarding process was not organized."
Pros: "The plane was on time."
Cons: "Overbooked. Food service for a fee. Tight leg room unless you want to upgrade ($$) for decent leg room. DirectTV only worked for 15 minutes, even if you paid."
Cons: "My son ( a minor) was held over in Denver airport for over 12 hours because of delays and cancellations. Not once did your United crew or service workers offer him a meal voucher. This is absolutely wrong. This was my son's first flight alone and he also could not find any venders open to buy food. I will NEVER fly United again and will tell all friends and relatives about your inconsideration to minor passengers who are too shy to ask for help.!"
Cons: "We were delayed which happens. That alone isn't a big deal. However, we sat on a runway for over 40 minutes without an update. Then we were told it will be 15 minutes and we returned to a terminal. Zero additional updates for about 50 minutes later. Crew or captain could at least kept us updated so we knew. Very poor service. Crew was friendly and good during the flight"
Cons: "I didn't like how my flight was cancelled only MINUTES prior to boarding time. I signed up for text alerts and received NONE about the trip cancellation. I had to rebook my flight for the next day meaning I slept at the airport. US airways had to change my flight to using Delta airlines since that was the soonest upcoming flight and they never sent me the email promised with my new itinerary, my boarding pass didn't say my gate number but they verbally told me which one it will be. Come to find out, they gave me incorrect information and I had to run to the correct gate so I could be on time. Worst experience I ever had."
Pros: "Very unhappy employees. I work at Nordstrom so maybe my expectations are a bit high when it comes to customer service, but if I owned united airlines I would be ashamed of the way United employees treat people. I paid an extra 300 than I had to to get to Hartford Connecticut at the time I chose when purchasing the ticket. Every plane was delayed. EVERY FLIGHT by at least an hour. I missed my connections and was rebooked twice. the average joe customer service lines were ridiculous with the separate priority line having first dibs. The first customer service man I met with was helpful and kind. With the exception of that man and one flight attendant on my trip back to Portland, every employee was indifferent, condescending and in some cases, actually mean. I say that seriously! (I can't believe it either). I am not a difficult person to get along with and I never showed upset despite the many mishaps I encountered on this trip. Customer service is so important and could have made up for the obvious poor planning and lack of communication by which united airlines functions. Unfortunately, I would rather fly any other airline if given the choice after this trip. Even spirit (and let me tell you, I've only flown spirit once and there is a good reason for that). So disappointing. I am upset over my experience and again, will avoid this airline at all costs in the future whenever possible."
