Pros: "My China Southern flight from Chiang Mai to Guangzhou was on time, comfortable, and the flight attendants were very efficient and friendly."
Cons: "Can't think of anything."
Pros: "Good lay flat business seats on A380, great bang for the buck, lounge at GZ is nothing special, staff was good though."
Cons: "Poor inflight entertainment options - make sure to bring your own pre loaded device They deplane and board the A380 onto busses via a single two-story stair case. Yes - all 500+ people...with all their kids and bags, old people young people, all going up one single stair case, up two floors."
Pros: "I guess it's positive that it took off relatively on time."
Cons: "Flight crew let the woman seated next to me shove 2 bags down by her feet, one of which she straddled between her knees during takeoff/landing. Not one of them told her it was a safety violation and asked her to put her back in a bin."
Cons: "Food was ok...tea coffee not good at all"
Pros: "Flight was on time."
Cons: "I have been in the Philippines for almost two weeks with no luggage. Very limited response from the airline."
Pros: "Food was mainly excellent. Entertainment was mainly excellent, except the game choices were limited and the movies were edited."
Cons: "1. Uncomfortable boarding at CAN: Had to go out in the cold to ride a BUS to the airplane: Why can't they use a BRIDGE like everyone else? Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for near-freezing conditions. 2. Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days."
Pros: "China Southern has nice customer service, good entertainment options and decent food. They moved me to a bulkhead seat because i am tall, but it was immediately behind business class and so offered no extra room. The agent who ticketed me did try to get me a good seat."
Cons: "Everything is positive."
Pros: "Ontime departure"
Cons: "Nothing special. Entertainment system was intermittently working requiring reveal reboot. Food just average or perhaps slightly below. Customer service was fair but not to the caliber of other Asian airlines (e.g., Cathay Pacific)"
Cons: "Lost my luggage for ever"
Pros: "not much"
Cons: "were told that flight was full, many rows actually empty could not check in online"
Pros: "The plane was awesome. It was very spacious and very smooth ride."
Cons: "There system wasnt like this before. We had to take the transit visa for 1 day and it was way too much work. You have to stand in the que for two different lines and for almost more than a hour. We visited there earlier and it wasnt like this."
Pros: "crew member are very nice."
Cons: "serve food too close to landing. left passenger not enough time for restroom."
Pros: "Pretty spacious, seats were comfortable enough, good entertainment"
Cons: "Couldn't check in online and consequently select a sea - it was very stressful"
Pros: "Arrived on time."
Pros: "First, crew and service were wonderful. Business class food was very good. BUT on the SF/Guangzhou route, both ways, business class seat 14K did not work! These are 14 and 12 hour overnight flights and seat wouldn't even recline, forget laying flat! On the outbound flight I didn't realize until we took off. The crew tried to fix it and couldn't but gave me one of the crew seats in the back of business class. Not great to be separated from my husband for most of the flight, but I could sleep and was otherwise comfortable. Returning Guangzhou to SF, had the same seat. Checked it as soon as I boarded and it didn't work, again! This time they got ground crew to fix it before take off. It worked most of the flight, but once I put it up after laying flat for 8 hours, it stopped working. Would not move from a straight upright position. Ridiculous! SO check to make sure your seats work before you take off!!"
Pros: "Boarding was efficient. Airport staff were friendly enough. Ticket price was cheap."
Cons: "Airline website for check-in was a huge challenge... not as easy or convenient to use at all. Cabin crew really could care less about service. Typical Chinese hospitality, if you know what I mean. But honestly, if you’re looking to save a few dollars and don’t mind lack of technological convenience or service Inflight, and your expectations aren’t that high, China Southern does the job."
Pros: "Movie selections."
Cons: "Delayed. Seats are too close together for a long haul."
Pros: "Crew efficient, Food satisfactory, Boarding is fine. You just have to have no high expectations"
Pros: "I like also the pilot for a smooth flight and crew is really accomodating"
Cons: "I don't like the music's selections. Toilet amenities should be improved and more chips and fruits shoul be added for long flights."
Pros: "I like the comfort seat from New York to Guangzhou on Being 777 even though it was a long flight of almost 15 hours."
Cons: "The white wine served on the CZ600 flight between New York and Guangzhou was not chilled. The flight crews should be trained that white wine needs to be served chilled. The Delta Club at JFK closed before midnight. However the outbound flight from JFK did not leave until 1:40 am. There should be notice where the business class customers should go to get lounge services."
Cons: "Food was horrible and entertainment center had to be reset 5 times."
Pros: "On time."
Cons: "No entertainment, poor cabin and food was bad."
Cons: "The flight from Korea to Beijing was delayed several times, causing me to miss my onward connections in Beijing and Urumqi. They claimed this was due to weather concerns, but funny that--it was partly cloudy at worst, and every other carrier seemed to be departing on time. Because this isn't a daily route, they reschedule me for two days later at no cost (the one thing that went well here), and the exact same thing--multiple delays, missed connections, and all as other carriers seemed to be running on schedule. At this point, I just deemed the trip not worth it. They have refunded my fare, but I would have preferred my two weeks holiday in Georgia by far."
Cons: "Horrible boarding experience, crew rude"
Cons: "After a horrific experience getting to GZ, my connection flight to Beijing was almost worse. 45 minutes before landing, I was forced to stow my screen (in the name of safety) which is ridiculous, then after going to restroom, the flight attendant came into the restroom to tell me to go back to my seat, as it is not allowed to leave your seat with 30 minutes remaining in the flight. I have never had a flight attendant force herself into a bathroom and invade someone's privacy. It was beyond rude and inappropriate. The lead flight attendant apologized, but it was well after the incident. I will never ever fly China Southern again."
Pros: "Modern aircraft A330-300, courteous staff, low fare."
Cons: "The interiors look very dated and bare, even though you know that the aircraft is not that old. Chinese tend to travel in groups to Europe and my flight had a handful of those groups. They tend to be loud."
Pros: "The international flight from New York to Guangzhou need more leg room even the upgraded economy was tight with stiff non moving arm rest for a couple wo seat together"
Pros: "I would say it was excellent, except for the food which is kind of not the great, but with the airfare rate, i could no longer complain. I would recommend it to my friends."
Pros: "Business class was confortable but plane showed signs of age"
Cons: "Would recommend a western menu option"
Cons: "I wasn't allowed onto my flight home because I missed my flight from Guangzhou to Seoul. Ridiculous that it was "for security reasons," but I could pay more money (cost of an entirely different flight) to bypass the protocols. I ended up getting a ticket from United that cost less than what China Southern was asking me to pay to get onto the flight that I had already paid for... My takeaway from this is use websites like these to find airlines that are offering cheap flights and then just go to them directly to buy the tickets. Easier to deal with flight changes that way."
Pros: "The crew"
Cons: "The long flight rather than a straight one"
Cons: "Prior to the flight I could not bring it up online using the confirmation code with the airline or yapta or kayak."
Cons: "Lost my luggage and was an extreme hassle to get back"
Pros: "The flight attendents were helpful when a few of us passengers required different seats due to varying circumstances. Even I had changed my seat once because two seats became available next to me and the seat I was in was quite crowded because of a very large passenger next to me. So I switched my seat. Later, the flight attendent asked me to go back to my original seat because they wanted to give those two seats to someone else who was also having an issue. Even though I didn't want to, the flight attendant was very kind and patient and considerate. It ended up being fixed well to the satisfaction of all passengers by a bit more switching around, and all were accomodated."
Pros: "Crew, food, and entertainment all good."
Cons: "The A-380 is a monster of a plane, but there isn't much in the way of leg room in economy class compared to the 738. Also, the no cell phone rule is a bit annoying if you have things on your phone that you need to access during a 15-hour flight."
Pros: "The comfort"
Cons: "Food choices were terrible"
Pros: "Best time saving flight"
Pros: "The price was good and the layover hotel arrangement was very nice. The flights themselves were not very pleasant. The flight attendants were rude, food was mediocre, the wines were bad."
Cons: "The bathrooms, food, flight attendants service and attitude towards passengers was bad."
Pros: "Good bang for the buck which makes all the average food, seat, legroom etc bearable."
Cons: "Delayed an hour, never listed/updated on the boards at airport."
Pros: "The warm washclothes & blankets were great!"
Cons: "They did not pass out enough water (2-3 cups) to keep hydratedfor a 14hr flight."
Pros: "CZ' step helped transit for me to lounge When I arrived CAN airport"
Cons: "bad priority boarding also step ware no kind for passenger."
Cons: "Before boarding the plane we were loaded like cattle into these hot buses. For a good 15 minutes the bus did not move and got more and more crowded. Then when it did move the bus drive was making sharp turns and quick stops throwing people around in the but. It was extremely uncomfortable. When we landed in Guangzhou the same thing happened. There was only one bus for the entire plane - much too crowded. And the bus must ave been driving for over 10 minutes to get to the arrival gate. Then a 3rd time boarding the plane to Hanoi the same thing happened. Because of this I will never fly China Southern again. Also the food was terrible - soggy noodles with crumbs of beef. No taste."
