Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Being relatively on-time was nice for a change."
Cons: "Seats are tight / uncomfortable. Crew could be better at spotting intoxicated passengers and not continuing to serve them."
Pros: "The crew was fantastic and everything about the flight made it feel like how flying is meant to feel!"
Cons: "With a long flight seat space is always a concern, I was fortunate to have an empty seat next to me so I was comfortable, if had someone next to me I know that comfort level would have dropped considerably."
Pros: "Flight time, availability on short notice"
Cons: "Delayed, no communication, delayed at boarding, sat at arrival with no gate."
Cons: "boarding time, delayed for 3 hours"

Cons: "Your staff needs to utilize better communication. I scheduled the first flight of the day, and it was delayed. We were stuck on the tarmac for an hour without anyone telling us what was going on. We had to return to the gate to refuel and we left at the time we were suppose to arrive to Charlotte."
Pros: "great trip and crew"
Pros: "The crew was u professional at the gate and the flight attendant that spoke on the overhed was hard to understand"
Cons: "Not flying AA"
Cons: "I didn’t like the food, worse I’ Ever taste"
Pros: "Nice, friendly crew. Even after a long delat which I'm sure must have frustrated them as much as us!"
Cons: "It can't be better than okay when you are over 2 hours leaving. They gave us some B.S. excuse. They told us an hour before the flight we would be delayed because they had to change a tire. REALLY, 3 hrs. to change a tire????"
Pros: "We arrived to LAX at the same scheduled time and the pilots were very informative when we might have turbulence."
Cons: "Head phone jack was broken, was told by one attendant that they would fix it. He never came back, told someone else and they said sorry, there was an open seat 6 rows back. Was not going to have my son sitting by himself. Knowing that you have to check many things prior to the flight, maybe have a back up plan for something like this."
Pros: "the staff was great from check in at the airport until I landed"
Cons: "I wish the snacks were heathy like dried fruit and nuts"
Pros: "Roomy leg room"
Cons: "Plane to start, delay loading, dlaying taking off.almost hour late arriving."
Cons: "Seat back in front of us broke. So my partner and I had to move to other seats during landing."
Pros: "Generally clean plane with good entertainment system and technology overall. Diabetic meal much better than in the past."
Cons: "Didn't announce meal choices at the start so flight attendant had to repeat herself every. Single. Row. They forgot my diabetic meal on the last part them forgot to include cutlery and it took a long time to sort out but they were otherwise lovely."
Cons: "The man at the gate was rude and tried to tell me I needed to pay 50$ to bring on my small purse, while his assistant said I could put it in my carry-on. Even more strict that Spieit airlines and higher prices. They didn't even bring around drinks because of "turbulence" unless you were first class. The plane shook slightly more than a smooth flight for only a small fraction of the flight."
Pros: "Really friendly crew"
Pros: "Arrived 1 hour and 10 min before take off and American Airlines didn’t let us check in. We explain then that our 19 months got car sick so we were cleaning him on the curb and they refuse to check us in and tell us we were too late. Even if we beg them as we were going to Paris to spend Xmas with our family. No flight for us ..."
Pros: "Great Wifi! After reading bad reviews it was actually ok. Flew business on the A319 (single aisle plane) and it reminded me of qantas 737. I think for a short haul day flight I may just put up with economy instead for the price. Food is ok. I think with AA you have to pick your aircraft, it makes a difference what plane you fly as to what you get in business class. FA's were great. Overall I'd fly them again. Food was ok."
Cons: "They asked everyone to put the window shades down but I fly window seat because I like looking out! It was a day flight too! LAX T4 lounge is being refurbished so you need to go to T5 and make sure it's not the regional lounge!"
Cons: "This was an MD80 that had absolutely been ridden to death. I thought that AA was modernizing their fleet? This was a 30 year old plane."
Pros: "There was an extra seat and they allowed me to move there. Superb entertainment!!"
Cons: "They guy behind me kept kicking my chair"
Pros: "Flight was smooth. Service was perfect"
Cons: "Boarding process is horrible, too many groups, not logical at all. Little space, aisle is so narrow..."
Cons: "Why is coffee such an exorbitant request?"
Pros: "Crew was very polite."
Cons: "For international flight that plane was way to tight. It was like being stuffed in a can for 11 hours. I will try to not fly international with American again."
Cons: "Not so pleasant flight attendants."
Pros: "No drama- always great flying from Long Beach"
Cons: "Really wish that there were power adaptors. Landed with a dead battery."
Pros: "All OK"
Pros: "The seat pockets were decent, though I like when the magazines have their own designated slot behind the tray in addition to a pocket. Also good there were power outlets. I liked that they didn't skip row numbers, including 13. So if you're in row 22, for example, you know that's literally how many rows back you are."
Cons: "It took 25 minutes from when plane landed until it reached the gate. There was also apparently an issue with the auxiliary power -- the lights went out in back half of plane when we arrived at gate. I prefer having a screen behind each seat, rather than those attached to ceiling on this flight, so that the entertainment can be customized."
Pros: "Flight on Time, Confort, Crew"
Cons: "I know if you want food, you must pay but not even a cookie...???"
Cons: "After arriving at the airport more than 2 hours early and at the gate 30 min prior to departure, American Airlines never called last boarding call, not our names. We sat at the gate, not knowing they had boarded, and tje plane departed unbeknownst to us. Had to stand in the rebooking line for 1.5 hours before speaking to a rep who told us we couldn't rebook our international flight. Had to request a supervisor, who thankfully after an additional hour was able ro rebook us."
Cons: "We booked a round-trip flight on AA from Philadelphia to Dublin. Due to changes in our travel plans we revised our flight dates. The phone customer service rep who helped me make the changes, assured me that the AA policy was to group families together after she informed me that I could not choose our seat assignments at that time. Arriving at the Philadelphia airport, we used the self service kiosk to check-in. The issued boarding passes put my wife and me in different rows on one side of the plane, and our nine year old son on the other. I asked a roving AA customer service rep if it would be possible to change our seat assignments and explained what we were told when rebooking. She waved vaguely in the direction of the baggage counter, and told us we could change our seats when checking our baggage. We brought out baggage to the counter and informed the customer service rep working there what we were told by the kiosk and phone representatives. She immediately yelled at us and told us to calm down, even though we were merely asking and explaining. Each time we attempted to explain our situation or ask where we could seek assistance, she bristled. Finally, she told us we should go to the main check-in counter because she could not change seat assignments. The check-in counter rep was very brusque. She said she could not change anything because we had boarding passes and should accept the locations because it was an international flight; however we could ask at the gate if changes could be made. At the gate, service was provided for three flights - Dublin, London, and Manchester(?). We stood briefly in line and were motioned up to a desk for the London flight. I informed the customer service rep that we were travelling to Dublin, and what we were told by the previous AA representatives. Without checking to see if was possible to seat the three of us together, he told us that he could only put my wife and son together. Somewhat relieved, we asked him to revise their seat locations. He made the changes and handed us our new boarding passes. As we walked away from the counter, I noticed that the new boarding passes were for the London flight and did not have my wife's or son's names. We returned to the counter and told him that there had been mistakes made. He immediately snatched the passes from us and berated us for not telling him that we were not going to London. I told him that we had told him of our destination as soon as we approached the counter. He retrieved our original passes from the trash and told us to wait for the Dublin flight reps to arrive. Immediately, I called the AA toll-free number and informed the phone agent of all that had happened. She was able to locate two seats together for my wife and son, and told me to inform the gate reps of the information. Because of character limitations I cannot tell of the counter rep who was an angel and managed to seat the three of us together. Thank you!!!"
Pros: "Quick boarding and taxi. On and off the flight seemlessly."
Pros: "Nice plane, very friendly pilot."
Cons: "Delayed flight."
Pros: "Roomy legroom and proximity to the restroom"
Cons: "There is limited recline."
Cons: "Could not understand the boarding instructions-PA system and speaker not good"
Pros: "Crew attitude to work in a plane model that should be retired."
Cons: "Insane for AA to still use a 757 for a intercontinental flight."
Cons: "It's getting progressively pricier with all kinds of added fees and the seats and spaces smaller. It's rediculous..."
Pros: "Pleasant staff, clean passenger lounge and plane cabin"
Cons: "Wish standard seating allowed for more width, better way to avoid reclined seat in front"
Pros: "I fainted on my flight and everyone was really nice and helpful to make sure I was okay."
Cons: "The man sitting next to me had too much BO used much of my space."
Pros: "JoMarie was very helpful at LGB. And we eventually arrived at our destination."
Cons: "This was a horrible travel experience, the worst I have ever known. My uncle had died, so I had to search for the soonest and most economical flight in order to attend the funeral. Traveling with me was my aunt (his ex wife) and my cousin (his only daughter). Our initial flight was delayed 'due to mechanical issues' and they said we weren't going to make our connection in Phoenix. So they had to reroute the whole trip, which took about half an hour because all of the flights were full. So instead of flying from LGB - PHX - CLT - CAE and arriving Saturday night, we ended up departing from LAX (which we specifically were trying to avoid) almost 9 hours later. From there to DEN - CLT - GSP arriving Sunday morning. Because of this I had to contact the hotel and let them know that we weren't going to check-in until the next day, but I still ended up having to pay for Saturday night. Then, I had to cancel the rental car and make a new reservation to pick it up at GSP and return at CAE since the hotel was close to CAE, plus the return flight was through CAE. Also, wifi was an additional cost (which we didn't use because of this), the snacks were pitiful, and the seats were very narrow and uncomfortable. I have flown with JetBlue in the past, but on this occasion, last minute flights to South Carolina were prohibitively expensive. That being said, if I had known how bad the experience with American was going to be, I would have gladly paid literally double the price for the JetBlue tickets. And in the future, I will be flying exclusively with JetBlue no matter what the cost."
Pros: "Business class is very good"
Pros: "I arrived at my destination"
Cons: "AA changed my flight plans which resulted in a 4.5 hour layover in Philly. The gates were filthy, there is not much selection for in-flight food and nothing for entertainment. I couldn't even find an outlet that worked at the gate."
Cons: "flight has been cancelled, airline staff gave me hotel vouchers which the hotel would NOT honor, I went back and forth twice because those two hotels would not accomodate american airline passenger vouchers, I end up calling a friend to pick up at the airport she has to drive for an hour just to pick me up, I regret buying a ticket in american airline"
Cons: "3rd flight with AA this year. Luggage damaged for second time."
Pros: "Everything went smoothly, crew was friendly"
