Flight was comfortable and clean. Adequate. Funny thing happened when I got to the airport, though. China Eastern had overbooked my flight, so they were asking for volunteers to take a later flight. No problem. See "what I didn't like" for problem.
So, I agreed to take on the later flight. Then they told me it was in SHANGHAI. Yes, 200 miles away. Again, wouldn't have been too big of a problem -- and granted, this is not a China Eastern problem, but NAVIGATING the Metro system in Nanjing, getting yelled at by people at the high speed rail station because I was in the wrong line, or because I didn't have a Chinese government issued ID, then spending 2 hours in the metro from Shanghai high speed rail to Shanghai Pudong -- I had 9 hours to do this, and I got there JUST in time. When I got to check in, however, more long lines, and they had to give me an aisle seat that didn't really recline. -_-
Plus, they weren't able to upgrade me. Would I do this again, I think so, but only if they upgrade me to first class for the next flight. Happy to help, but if you do ask customers to help, make sure that you make their lives as easy as possible (maybe buying the train tickets beforehand and having them ready to go - trying to navigate the ticket system was the WORST), because they are doing you a favor.
Plane stopped for two hours in Nanjing. We were routed off the plane, through customs, through passport control and back on the very same plane. This was a little hard to take after spending 12 hours on a cold tile floor in Chengdu.
Ethiopian Airlines check in staff made a pigs-ear of my check in process. First they claimed I'd missed the flight (my ticket said 2335 on 15 Dec, they changed flight to 0010 on 16 Dec, but claimed that as my ticket was for 15 Dec my booking was invalid). They proceeded to re-issue me with a new ticket a (for the 0010 fight on 16 Dec), but then also tried to change my connecting flights by one day - even though they should remain the same (in effect the flight was only put back by 35 minutes, so why change a booking for connecting flight by 24 hours?). Fortunately on arrival in Shanghai, air china check me onto the correct flight. However, to compound matters, my luggage has gone missing and, bizarrely, Ethiopian airlines issued all foreign passengers with landing cards for Japan - not China!
Convenient. Excellent new international terminal in Nanjing and so quick to get through the whole process, of checkin, immigration, customs, and security. The USA TSA should learn from international travel.
Food court is GREAT, fresh food and affordable which the government does not allow for high prices, thus more travelers eat there rather than bringing their own food.
Food service, did not go aisle by aisble jump around which took longer to get drinks and food.
We’re not the seller.
At KAYAK we don’t set the prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.
We compile tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we can't guarantee prices we find.
Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find, on occasion, that certain prices are no longer available.
If you have more questions or if you have a bad price to report to us, please send us an
and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
