Cons: "Before we boarded I listened to a couple described how they always went ahead in line at boarding because no one ever stopped them. They described how they waited until group 3 was called and then went right through. While we were waiting, we watched them do it again. If you need to cram people into tiny spaces to be profitable, then you cannot allow them to make it worse by putting back their seats. I spent 90 minutes with a seat back jammed into my chest. We were ignored when handing out snacks, probably because we were invisible behind the seats pushed in our faces. It was one of the most miserable flights I’ve experienced."

Cons: "The communication to the passengers. Our flight kept getting delayed every 30 min. They kept telling us different reasons. We were supposed to take off at 2:40pm and we waited every 30 min delay until 7pm. We have kids so we had to get home. We ended up renting a car and driving to Austin."

Here's the kicker my first fight was delayed and my luggage was stuck in Dallas! My luggage did appear at my house in the middle of the night. Is that a good use of resources?"

Cons: "I was apparently "flagged" by British Airways for extra security checks. As I understood it in London, I was randomly selected for this security check. This then apparently meant that I was to be flagged for all subsequent flights. This meant that in Chicago, after going through two other security checks that day (Zurich and London) and completing customs, I had to engage in a full Homeland security check. This involved removing protective covers from my laptop and phone that were hard to get off (not meant to be taken off regularly) and a full body search that I did not have to do in London. After many hours of traveling, this was very a frustrating experience."

Pros: "Food was surprisingly pretty good. Good entertainment options."
Cons: "The 3 1/2 hour delay was the worst - missed our connecting flight because of it, which is pretty bad when you're supposed to have a 3 1/2 hour layover. Then the flight they put us on was 3 1/2 hours late. We got home at 7 am instead of midnight. Spent 45 minutes sitting on the runway in Philadelphia because another plane was at our gate so we had to wait for them to take off, not just leave the gate. Flight attendants were efficient but not at all friendly - not a smile among them."

Cons: "BAD Public Relations: AA announced the flight was overbooked, then called up 3 young ladies. Their reaction was seen by everyone. They had just gone through the entire procedure to get to the gate and were forced to be stranded. FIRST CLASS: food service: could there be a rating less than POOR? we were given 10,000 miles (yes that bad) but just like Whose line - the points don't matter when the airlines is that bad! Crew response: We're not any worse than the other airlines - my response: WRONG! NO WIFI NO entertainment NO CHARGING AREA magazines were missing pages in both seats- requested new one never received"

Cons: "Without notice or warning, I was required to pay $200 for my dog, tranferring from Alaska Air, to ride in cargo for the 2nd leg of my trip. My fare was approx. $84. They would not accept cash, but made me spend another $5 on a "gift card," because I don't own credit cards. Rude, uncaring, marginally competent ground crew."

Pros: "AA was great, the only issues we had was 100s of screaming babies and rude people that cut the line....Not much AA can do about that."

Cons: "We sat in Charlotte on the runway and had to run to our connection. The airport seems too small for the amount of traffic. We usually try to avoid Charlotte, but it was the only way to use frequent flyer miles"

Cons: "The only problem that I had with my flight is that my luggage did not arrive on the same flight. Possibly due to my connecting flight from DCA to JFK. Both American Airlines and British Airways reassured me that it would be at Gatwick Airport when I arrived. Unfortunately, it did not. It took approximately four days to get my luggage. This was definitely a lessons learned."

Cons: "The aircraft was downgraded, so there were 12 "overbooked" seats. The flight was delayed several times, with each new delay only being acknowledged after the previous departure time had already passed. Eventually, the flight was "delayed" to 3:15, but then it was bumped BACK to 2:45, so one woman ended up missing the flight because she had gone to the lounge based on the 3:15 departure. I accepted a voucher, but as the original flight kept getting delayed and I couldn't receive the voucher until the doors closed, I almost missed the flight I was rebooked on. If airlines would just communicate better (e.g., tell us there's a delay *before the departure time has passed*), people would be much more willing to deal with the hassle."

Pros: "This flight left about 90 minutes late again due to weather issues. The crew was excellent which made this long flight enjoyable."

Cons: "The AA station in Madison (MSN) is notoriously SLOW in downloading bags from the plane and getting them to the baggage claim. So far this flight ot is about 30 minutes from when the plane pulled into the gate and still no bags yet."

Pros: "Online check in scanning my phone and having my seat already picked out. Informative while on the flight and great spacing. Also like to know that there still is free carry ons allowed."

Cons: "Our original aircraft was taken out due to a mechanical issue. When we got our replacement aircraft, somehow we were missing a crew member. So after a one-hour delay for a new aircraft, we boarded, then sat at the gate for another hour and a half waiting for an additional flight officer. Missed my connecting flight from Chicago to Dayton and had to be put up in a hotel 30 minutes away from the airport."

Cons: "When they finally found the crew they had been working so long, they weren't allowed to fly for another hour because of regulations. For overpriced flights, youd think they would be able to hire some more crew"

Cons: "Unexplained delay in leaving but only arrived about 10 min later than scheduled. Took an hour from pulling into the gate for bags to arrive though which caused me to miss my shuttle. Never had to wait more than 15 min for any other airline at DIA."

Cons: "Catering didn't happen. The pilot told us early, apologized and said we would arrive a little early to make up for it."

Would seem like they could set up the system to assign people to seats in the aisle/window first and then start putting them in the middle. We all moved before takeoff, but it would make things quicker and easier if they assigned seats in a more logical way."

It’s around -10 degrees outside so the guys getting our bags are saints and the delay is to be expected, but the buzzer..."

Cons: "Almost didn’t get breakfast because I was asleep. Crew wasn’t very good about picking up trash."

Cons: "My wife and I traveled with bicycles packed in standard boxes and got hit with a whopping $230 charge per bicycle out of the blue. We were expecting no charge because the bicycles were our only check-in baggage for the trip. Couldn't believe the lack of transparency with which we got hit with this charge. Qantas, Air New Zealand, and other airlines we've taken bikes with us on our flights have charged nothing when we traveled in the same fashion. So, if you are a bicyclist traveling with your bicycle, I'd avoid the United-Lufthansa duo."

Pros: "crew was friendly. flight was on time. everyone at united, from the people checking me in and taking my bags to the flight attendant were incredibly friendly. I appreciated that--so many workers make a bad situation worse by being rude to their customers. I truly felt that United workers were happy to help."

Cons: "Probably one of the worst flights I have ever had. Flight cancelled - bumped back to last flight of the day. Even the standby was a mess up, boarded the plane where my seat was already taken, and after 10mins standingin the middle aisle, asked to leave. Just a drama"

Cons: "all flights from Madison to Chicago ended up being canceled, but they did not tell us until around 430pm. I ended up having to take a bus after waiting in the airport for 4 hours. If I had taken the bus as soon as I arrived I would not of missed my job interview."

I, a 22 young woman traveling alone, got stranded in Washington traveling from New York at 1am because of weather. United didn't give me money for a cab, couldn't help me with a hotel since they were all full and told me they wouldn't be refunding my pet deposit or help with my next flight out pet deposit. I wish I could give them less than 1 star overall. They didn't care about my well being or safety at all. Very disappointed United"

Cons: "The flight was cancelled and we needed to return home for work the next day. It was the last flight out so we asked about a ground transportation voucher. The telephone agent told us to see the customer service rep at the terminal counter. After waiting inline for almost 45 minutes we asked an agent who was standing there about a voucher. She checked with a supervisor and said they would not provide them, we would have to wait to see an agent. Rather than miss the next bus to be delayed another 2 hours waiting for someone to tell us they wouldn't do anything for us, we left the line and purchased bus tickets. We had to pick up our luggage at the airport because we 'missed' our flight rather having it delivered. We understand flight cancelations but at no time during the process, especially at the airport, did we ever get the impression that anyone cared about us or what happened to us. We will avoid this airline."
