JAL did all these arrangements without us requesting it. They also were very polite and got our luggage in time to be on the flight with us. JAL is truly a top airline in the world."

I was extremely tired and and left my phone completely on silent for 4 days, and within those 4 days they called and left me messages. Lucky I live here in Hawaii, can you imagine being a tourist and you lost your card? Excellent customer service."

Cons: "Our flight was delayed for two hours. We have a connecting flight from Osaka to Los Angeles, which we were worried we couldn't make it. They told me the flight will wait for us because there were 20 plus people also need to get on that plane. When the time of boarding we heard they were calling us to the front and explained the flight we were suppose to be connecting already took off. They had to booked us to another airline. We were extremely disappointed! We asked if we could took another Japanese airline but they said our luggages were already transferred to that airline and the tickets were printed! Mosf importantly we have already waited in airport 5 hours and they needed us to wait for another 3 hours! Very bad experience with how they dealing with this situation!"

The hostesses were super friendly always offering some sort of beverage, the food was tasty (Be careful not to drop noodles on yourself like I did, those bad boys left a little mark). The video selection wasn't huge, but it was definitely adequate with good titles. Maybe I haven't noticed this before in other airlines, but they had new toothbrushes (packaged, not someone's forgotten toothbrush) in the restroom so the poor sap next to me didn't have to smell my stinky breath. Finally, they were quick with boarding! They were very punctual and we took off right when we got on, so nice!"
Cons: "The seats were pretty adequately sized, however, I felt like I couldn't lay back too far or if the the person in front of me did, it made it really difficult to get the seats. Also, I thought it was my headphones, but it happened on a couple of flights with different headphones, but the audio only comes out of one earphone which was slightly annoying... Other than those things, JAL is super solid and I would recommend it to anyone considering them."

Cabin foods are generous, filled with variety and tasting the best among various international airlines that I have experienced between LAX and Taipei, Taiwan in the past ten years. The seat belt on light and bell were kept at minimal, in contrast to other airlines like EVA, China Airlines, Korean Airlines and United Airlines."

Cons: "I'm an entertainer, very well respected in Hawaii, Japan and the world. and has always traveled JAL. I travel with my guitar and has never had a problem carrying it on board. The staff will usually come a get it and put it in the closet if it didn't fit in the overhead. But I guess recently rules change, and was told I would have to check it in because the closet space is used only for staff and business people. Was told that the 737 was to small for my guitar won't fit overhead. I have taken 737's all my life with Aloha Airlines and told them that my guitar would fit. That gentleman was a JERK! and was'nt very helpful, and told me I couldn't take it on board and I would have to take it to the package store and have them box it up. That spoiled my whole vacation."

I used to every time get excited to fly with Thai. this time i had two Thai connections between Tokyo - Bankgkok and Bangkok-Delhi, both times my two young minor children were automatically seated away from me and each other also during checkin process. it took a lot of time and convincing the agent to get my own children seated with me on long international flights! Food service was worse than expect for name of Thai airways!"

I don’t think this had anything to do with the airline, but every flight with them was so quiet (no crying babies/children, loud adult conversations), I thought I could hear the pin drop! Their safety demonstration was uniquely done by dancer, which made it interesting to watch every time! I left my jacket on one of my flights, but they returned it to me when I boarded the next flight - I was gratefully surprised! They had complementary tooth brush/toothpaste, ear plugs and eye masks in the restrooms. I thought this was a good way to reduce passing out items not all passengers wanted. I wish all airlines could copy these amazing features from them."

The rolls with margarine, same fruit and strongly cultural seasoned vegetables that were served every time, all of which I could not eat. I have liked every airline meals and hospital food, but their food was below institutional food quality. For an Asian airline, the flight attendants were rather crude in their speech and mannerisms. I could barely hear and understand the announcements in spite the fact that passengers were extremely quiet. Their choices of movies were very poor; it seemed that 3 out of 4 flights had similar options."

Cons: "The flight from Seattle to Taiwan was one of the worst flights I ever had. Not only was there no outlet for me to do work, but the 2nd level of the plane was unusually warm and stuff. However flying back from Taiwan to Seattle was not as uncomfortable, it was still annoying to not have an outlet. Also the entertainment screen on those flights were really small. Lastly, the food overall was mediocre, but that was not as big of a deal to me."

Pros: "I remember back when i was a kid and my Grandmother took us to Disneyland, back when there was "Service" in the USA. If i can avoid any US carrier, and I will fly with EVA. there is meals on flight, checked bags, carry-on bags, smiles, all without extra fees, charges, and they were least expensive to fly."
Cons: "As with all airlines the seats are a little tight and a bit more legroom would be nice, I am a larger man and it was still comfortable even after 18 hours of flight time."

When we went to the airport to checkin, there were NO gate agents at checkin. You had to check in on a computer and then drop our bag at the agriculture screening point. We went to guest services and they told us to go to the gate. We went to the gate and it was closed with no one there. We asked information and they sent us to guest services. Guest services then got snippy with us and told us to wait at the gate. So, we didn't even know if we would be able to sit together or if we'd be stuck with middle seats on the 5 hour flight until an hour before the flight left. Ultimately, our seats were fine, but the fact that no one could or would help us and the help that was there was completely useless and kind of nasty, convinced us to NEVER FLY HAWAIIAN AIRLINES AGAIN. Oh, and on the plane, they have an inflight entertainment screen on each seat, however, you have to pay for EVERY movie on it. This was not the case on Alaska Airlines, where entertainment was free."

Cons: "Hawaiian needs more free entertainment options. Perhaps one free video on the flight with additional options for purchase. And only one meal option for everyone does not seem to be realistic, especially these days when everyone has some foods they stay away from. A this-or-that option would have been great. Overall, great experience but everything is a little outdated on flights (no wifi)."

Pros: "I appreciated the staff assistance, even though I didn't appreciate the airline's protocol. I purchased seats next to each other, when I checked in 22.5 hours before the flight we (2) were split up. The airline told us our option was to purchase upgrades to sit next to each other. I waited patiently for 3 hours before the flight and spoke with a few gate attendants. They were accommodating and put us together, even though they moved us to the rear-most section of the plane and into the center section. Great free music stations."
Cons: "Having a meal on the flight is awesome! Not offering a vegetarian option (and cooking the meat in with the starch) meant that my fiance had nothing to eat but cookies and crackers. Also, overhead bin area was limited, mostly due to passengers bringing larger and larger 'carry-ons' (which are not actually carry-on sized). Hawaiian needs to be more strict about their carry-on sizes for rolling bags. They should fit wheels-in, not wheels to the side. Finally, media is available for free, but only for advertisement and promotion, entertainment media is only available for purchase."

We have never flown with this carrier before, but we expected better."

Pros: "The crew was great in helping us try to make our connecting flight after we realized we might miss it. They helped us tag our gate-checked stroller (which we had to ditch) and let us off the plane first. And the pilot notified the ground crew at our connecting flight too. Thank you, we made the flight!"
Cons: "The 1 hr delay in OGG caused us to nearly miss our connecting flight in SEA."

Cons: "The Honolulu airport is difficult to navigate, very confusing, and crowded (not your fault, I know, but airlines should demand more from the airport administration). The entertainment options under "complimentary" all required a payment, even the ones I watched for free on the first leg of the flight from Tokyo."

Cons: "Some crew members were quite rude and not accommodating. Simple requests for water were not met or were met with serious attitude. No food alternatives, which does not work for me as I have a particular allergy. There was no entertainment or wine available (I booked an international flight -- which in my experience always includes these things including special meals. We were treated as if we were flying domestically, which was not what we paid for). I won't be booking Hawaiian Airlines again."

Cons: "When I booked the flight, I was not able to select my seat despite paying a hefty sum (well over double the cost of normal). As I went to check in, I still was not able to select a seat. As I refreshed my mobile check-in, I finally was assigned a seat just prior to boarding. As I stood in-line to board, I noticed that my seat changed, which also meant a different boarding zone. I left the line to wait for the next queue to board. As I stood in line again to board, I was called to the podium by an agent. They informed me that my seat changed. At this point, I was one of the last to board. My final seat on the plane ended being in a seat that did not recline (which is terrible for a 5.5 hour flight), next to a woman that spilled over into my seat. And in front of a very tall gentleman with his feet staying next to me most of the ride. At the price I paid and the changes they were making, I would have preferred an upgrade. The cost for my ticket was well over what i would have been charged for first class on any other day."

It was the first time (though admittedly I don't travel oftenI I was told I had to print my own tags, using the kiosk. The person receiving the luggage was not very helpful when I explained I wasn't familiar with the kiosk. Though I was the only one in the luggage line at the time He made no attempt to give me instructions. Sent me to a "special services" line which, if I had stayed in it, I may have missed my flight. Fortunately, another airline rep came to my rescue at the kiosk and patiently and courteously completed the procedure for me. Would have liked to have some "free" movies offered as on other airlines I have taken. Fortunately I had a friendly seatmate who invited me to enjoy a movie she purchased, using one of her earphones."

Cons: "Gate at Philadelphia was tiny with not enough space for everyone on the plane, it was a 6 hour flight and no snacks beyond pretzels were available-not even for purchase. I'd just come off an 8 hour international flight where I was provided lunch, ice cream, a pot pie snack and frequent beverage service. Somehow as soon as you are flying domestic on a slightly shorter flight American Airlines thinks its okay to treat customers like garbage-nothing but some sad pretzels and 2 rounds of drink service was provided for a 6 hour flight. The seats were super uncomfortable with no head rest, no personal entertainment devices were provided, and there was no general entertainment for the whole plane-seriously I've never been so bored. I would have fallen asleep from boredom but the seat was too uncomfortable so I couldn't even do that. The plane landed in Seattle but sat without unloading passengers for 20 minutes because the gate crew wasn't ready. We didn't get our checked baggage for over an hour after landing. When asked, customer service reps said that the S gate was far from baggage claim-seriously I'm not sure how that is a reasonable excuse. Other airlines arrive into S gates and have timely baggage claim service. American Airlines has no standard for timely baggage claim service like other airlines (Alaska) so there were no repercussions for such late baggage service. We left the airport with our luggage over 90 minutes after the plane landed. The entire experience is just another example of American Airlines of why the terrorists won't even fly American Airlines. I was seriously disappointed to find out that the British Airways flights we booked were operated by American instead of BA crews. I seriously will never select this option (or fly American) again if I can help it."

Cons: "This agent spent 30+ min to check us in through a connection flight to Seattle. He couldn't find my wife's reservation, when it should be in the same reservation as me. He tried 5 times, and still failed. Later we found out at the gate that he was using the wrong name (same last name, different first name). Luckily the American Airline agent at the gate was more than competent and efficient to correct the issue in 5 min."

Cons: "The worst flight attendant I have ever seen."

Pros: "Nothing. Someday the airline industry will be disrupted and we'll all remember this and say, "can you believe what we used to put up with, and how expensive it was?!""
Cons: "No decent food available, they ran out. People allowed to play movies loudly with no headphones for 5 hours straight. Uncomfortable seats with no cushioning."

Cons: "We were delayed an hour because the plan was in the hanger! Why? We were all there, didn't American know the plane should be at he gate! No escplanation as to why the plane was not there other than it was in the hanger! Airlines need to let the customers be flexible especially when are!"

Cons: "Flight was 6 hours...almost as much as my previous international flight, yet food and drink was only available for purchase. No entertainment options. Plus, wireless was $21! I needed to work and had to purchase, but that is really quite a rip off compared to other airlines."

When I got on it was clear that there was no outlets, no video on the backs of seats, no devices being handed out for purchase. Nothing. I'm definitely used to more updated planes, but I would have been ok without the misinformation. I ended up on a 4 hr flight bored out of my gourd—which could have been avoided."

Cons: "Going through immigration in Dallas is a disaster. The wait is eternal. None-US passengers seemed to get processed faster."

Cons: "Despite arriving more than an hour ahead of time, I had to wait in a long line to get to the ticket counter and by the time I got there the assistant refused to check my bag. I then had the choice of catching another flight standby, possibly not even arriving on the same day, or changing my ticket for an obscene amount of money. I hope to never deal with AA again."

Now it is endured to get on a trip."

Cons: "After being in DFW airport for 10hrs all I wanted to do was watch a movie on board and sleep. Go figure, my TV didn't work. I called the attendant and she said she would reset them. The "resetting process" took a while. She attempted, and the other stewardess did as well. They said that the TV issue that *some* of the people were experiencing wasn't able to be fixed by them and only by the company that provides it's service. So there wasn't anything that could be done. I know that at least the two guys that were traveling next to me had issues with the tv monitors as well. It was just driving it home that I will never fly on American Airlines again. I don't ask for much these days while flying, it's not like it's a luxury anymore. But the saddest part is that customer satisfaction is completely out of the question. Just pay the extra money and fly another airline. -Deidre Fugate"

This is simply poor personnel management. They should have a back-up plan if an employee falls ill. One that doesn't involve flying in an employee from another region of the country, let alone another state. The inefficiency continued on the return flight when it took a whole hour for the luggage to come out! Will avoid flying American again at any cost."
