Cons: JAL cabin attendants and people from customer center were very professional and niceRead more about Japan Airlines
Cons: JAL cabin attendants and people from customer center were very professional and nice
Cons: Needs more variety of movies
Pros: Was able to get home toward Los Angeles with delays and change in plane so did not get proper seating as reserved.
Cons: The plane was delayed from Tokyo to Los Angeles due to a pilot staffing issue. The plane stopped in Honolulu at 6:00AM in the morning and no staff was able to assist so they made everyone go through the run-around to have the luggage scanned for agriculture. Then they stated that even though we had pre-check, we did not qualify and the boarding pass was not issued with Honolulu to LAX. Over 5 hours delay and did not know that we could have stayed in Hawaii free room and meals. Terrible and one of the worst vacations ever for returning to the US. The food was not great.
Pros: The coach seats were larger than those on domestic flights. The window glass was dimmable for ideal lighting.
Cons: The arm rests did not go up all the way. This made it difficult to maximize comfort with my wife.
Pros: Very friendly and accommodating crew.
Pros: It wasn't JAL it was American.
Pros: The crew was organized and efficient.
Cons: Entertainment: movie choices were limited.
Cons: Seat cushion could use more cushioning. Larger portions of drinks served
Cons: Good space with large seats. Good food and service.
Pros: The crew was amazing!!
Cons: Nothing! Excellent flight!
Pros: The crew is outstanding. A girl two seats away from me barfed and two attendants were there immediately with a bag, cleaning wipes, etc. They are very friendly and patient with passengers. The next best part was the comfort. I got a good amount of sleep on my nine-hour flight.
Cons: The movie selection and meals were not bad, but I've had better on other airlines.
Pros: Crew members are extremely friendly and the seat has more leg room.
Cons: in flight entertainment can add more movie and TV shows.
Pros: Friendly, clean. Great movie selection.
Cons: I wasn't allowed to reserve a seat - apparently they don't allow Kayak customers to reserve seats now. I was forced into a middle seat and was uncomfortable and dehydrated the majority of the trip. Nice girl at baggage check said she'd ask a manager to move me, and to let them know at the gate, but the people at the gate said no. I felt discriminated against because I didn't book through them and/or I'm not Japanese. They historically love to put mushrooms in their food, like a fetish. This left me with one choice for the entree - some version of oyakodon - eggs and chicken. In my box there were two enormous chunks of fat/skin and another unidentifiable part of the chicken, and about the amount of edible chicken as 1 1/2 nuggets from Chick-Fil-A. There was more lotus root than chicken, so basically I had a box of rice and scrambled eggs with garnish. For the second meal, it was the Yoshinoya gyudon - a small serving of thinly sliced beef with rice. If I bought this fresh at a Yoshinoya restaurant, it would cost about $3. It's the rough equivalent of serving you a McDouble - cheap and filling and a coin toss if you get stomach pains. I lost that coin toss. Unless there is a big fare difference or I find out that their reserved seat policies are changed, I will choose ANA or another carrier. I used to enjoy JAL, but I cannot abide by idiotic decisions that seemed designed to punish people for using 3rd-party booking sites or who are not Japanese.
Pros: i cancelled my flight and still have not got my money returned
Cons: I dont have my return but you take it right away
Pros: Food was acceptable. Stewardess very helpful
Cons: On a long flight it is good to have a good movie. Selection very bad. Seats r not comfortable seat turns into bed but lower part is too low. Poor design. Food not very good
Pros: Service and Entertainment were great. Lots of legroom is great.
Cons: There are no air vents per seat so on the whole I was very hot and uncomfortable during the flight. One other detail: this is not Japan Airlines fault, but at LAX we had to sit on the runway for an hour because there was some confusion about the parking space for the plane. After a nine hour flight, to sit and wait for another hour was very uncool.
Cons: The attendants were very pleasant and efficient. I will certainly prefer to fly JAL, especially if you could offer the lower rates. On the down side, it was very difficult to contact their customer service line. However their online help desk was very responsive.
Pros: On time Cleanliness
Cons: The food for people with special needs is horrible Most of the staff has poor communication in English on international flights
Pros: Thier food tasted excellent!
Cons: Wish there was a vegetarian option too.
Pros: As expected everything was not overly done nor less of comfort and services. The food was Excellent quality and prepared with care. The airplane was new types and flew fast and smooth.
Cons: The Kansai airport was huge and super fancy. Shere number of people were like the Zoo and its designed to move people through all the retail shops to get to my gate.
Pros: Their customer service is excellent! when I left my card (fell out of my pursue while in transit), they called me immediately! After a long vacation, exploring. I was extremely tired and and left my phone completely on silent for 4 days, and within those 4 days they called and left me messages. Lucky I live here in Hawaii, can you imagine being a tourist and you lost your card? Excellent customer service.
Cons: Our flight was delayed for two hours. We have a connecting flight from Osaka to Los Angeles, which we were worried we couldn't make it. They told me the flight will wait for us because there were 20 plus people also need to get on that plane. When the time of boarding we heard they were calling us to the front and explained the flight we were suppose to be connecting already took off. They had to booked us to another airline. We were extremely disappointed! We asked if we could took another Japanese airline but they said our luggages were already transferred to that airline and the tickets were printed! Mosf importantly we have already waited in airport 5 hours and they needed us to wait for another 3 hours! Very bad experience with how they dealing with this situation!
Pros: Attendants appeared intolerant and impatient. Not the pleasant courteous crew flying into Japan.
Pros: Everything. Was just outstanding.
Cons: No complaints
Pros: Great service and terrific vegan meals served. Facilities were clean and personnel were very helpful and provided terrific service to the passengers.
Pros: Entertainment options were good
Cons: Food was mediocre and long waits for restroom
Pros: The food was good. Seats were as comfortable as any flight is.
Cons: There were no diet soft drinks available on the flight.
Pros: There was more leg room than most airlines, friendly staff, and good movies and food selection.
Pros: I love flying jal
Cons: It's not so much the flight as it was the plane, the 787 seats recline too much for the limited legroom you get so if the person I front of you reclines all the way you will ride with there seat in your knees the whole way
Pros: everything, the courtesy of the entire crew, the way they show care and respect and compassion to the passengers especially the seniors
Cons: flight delays
Pros: Everything was perfect! Thank you for a great experience!
Pros: The flight attendants are quick in services and with great manner. Cabin foods are generous, filled with variety and tasting the best among various international airlines that I have experienced between LAX and Taipei, Taiwan in the past ten years. The seat belt on light and bell were kept at minimal, in contrast to other airlines like EVA, China Airlines, Korean Airlines and United Airlines.
Pros: I am all right for travelling by Japan airlines this trips to Taipei. My hometown.
Pros: It was anything very good, my trips on air are great. all flight attendant did good job.i got good slept well on flight JL 060.so I will choice Japan Airline next time. Thank you very much
Pros: Had Hindu vegetarian meals, which were good for airplane food and much better than the "standard" fare for the rest of the plane. The flight attendants were very nice and helpful.
Cons: Space under the seat in front of me was very cramped - a large box for electronics got in the way and made it difficult to get into a comfortable position, which is tough for an 11-hour flight.. The plane was completely full, and my husband and I had to sit in separate rows - I was never able to switch the seats, even though I called several times and tried at the airport as well. Entertainment selection not as good as the American flight out. The JAL website (English version at least) is not very easy to use.
Pros: There was a huge amount of new and classic movies to chose from to pass the time. The crew was friendly and professional. The food was decent. I like the variety of food choices and some of the dishes were delicious (salmon and rice). The seats are pretty comfortable. They aren't great for sleeping in, but the flight was decently quiet and dark for some time. I would recommend bringing a pair of earplugs and a neck pillow.
Cons: The bread could be better. I would have the bread be softer and warm. A warm croissant as a substitute would be amazing. The butter could be softer (like margarine) so that way it can actually be spread onto the bread.
Pros: The cabin crew was professional, friendly and courteous. It's always refreshing to fly an Asian airline for the impeccable customer service. The 787 left me with minimal jet lag. The odd shaped pillows provided great back support.
Cons: The seats were comfortable but old fashioned. The WiFi was spotty and it would have been nice to have Asian food options.
Pros: Everything! JAL employees go above and beyond to deliver perfect customer service with a genuine smile.
Cons: Nothing! No complaints here
Pros: I like everything about my flight
Cons: There was nothing to dislike
Pros: Comfortable and spacious for economy class. Very helpful staff.
Cons: If I have to be picky the movie selection didn't seem great.
Pros: Comfortable and spacious for economy class. Very helpful staff.
Cons: If I have to be picky the movie selection didn't seem great.
Pros: The flight was great! Premium Economy on JAL is worth the price. The leg rest was a huge perk and luckily nobody was sitting next to me so it felt extra roomy!
Cons: The entertainment selection wasn't as robust as other flights. I had to make sure and "save" things for the flight back so I wasn't bored. I always pack a book or game along the way, so it really wasn't that much of an issue.
Pros: I forgot to make prior arrangements for a special meal due to allergy concerns. I notified the crew onboard, and they were attentive to my issue and helped me avoid certain foods which may cause an allergy attack.
Cons: The seats felt very dated and uncomfortable. The entertainment options were very limited.
Pros: Attendants were very supportive. Food was very good.
Cons: Restroom smelled bad
Pros: Entertainment was excellent
Cons: I'm an entertainer, very well respected in Hawaii, Japan and the world. and has always traveled JAL. I travel with my guitar and has never had a problem carrying it on board. The staff will usually come a get it and put it in the closet if it didn't fit in the overhead. But I guess recently rules change, and was told I would have to check it in because the closet space is used only for staff and business people. Was told that the 737 was to small for my guitar won't fit overhead. I have taken 737's all my life with Aloha Airlines and told them that my guitar would fit. That gentleman was a JERK! and was'nt very helpful, and told me I couldn't take it on board and I would have to take it to the package store and have them box it up. That spoiled my whole vacation.
Pros: the crews were very professional and caring. the food was the best of all so far
Cons: the only thing was this flight was delayed and we missed the flight at LAX, but JAL reserved a hotel room near by for us so that we were able to refresh ourselves and relax till the next flight. thank you JAL!
Pros: the AA flight to japan was the worst flight I've ever been on! tv sreen didn't work, space was tight, food terrible, two sets of headphones bad, I could go on but I don't even want to think about it anymore
Cons: getting off
Pros: Service with a smile goes even longer for long flights. Excellent service throughout the flight. Loved the feeling of spaciousness, even in Economy. Great sleep as a result.
Cons: Number of movies available in Entertainment was limited, especially compared to competitors like Singapore Airlines. Ran out of good choices on a long flight.
Pros: The good: The food was tasty given we were on an airplane. Better entertainment selection than my AA flight to Japan. I prefer the 3-3-3 seat layout to the 2-5-2 because even though I had a middle seat there was only one person to get past in either direction.
Cons: The bad: The plane was warm. I understand some people get cold, but since blankets are provided I would much prefer a colder plan than a warmer one. The warmth made it hard to sleep, which is a big problem on an overnight flight. JAL does not provide individual air vents to passengers seated where I was. I understand the reason for this, but I wish there was some way to get more comfortable. The seats were standard airline economy seats, roomy enough and with enough legroom for my sub-6-foot frame, but not the most comfortable.
Cons: Flight crew is great!
Pros: Amazing crew, Great flight.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Pros: Absolute epic flight in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Thank you all the crews. You’ve done amazing job!
Pros: Had a whole row to myself
Cons: Food wasn’t great
Pros: I really liked the food selection they provided in economy. Also enjoyed how they would time dinner and breakfast depending on our location. Left in the afternoon, had dinner while still in the Korean timezone. Snoozed for 7 or so hours and it was time for breakfast when we reached the pacific time zone. I especially enjoyed their in flight exercises before landing, it really felt great to get some proper circulation after sitting for a few hours.
Cons: While traveling on the long haul flights, I really liked flying on the Airbus; flight from Los Angeles to Seoul was initially on an Airbus, very modern with better screen and power outlets! My flight from Seoul to Los Angeles was on a Boeing which felt a bit older; entertainment screen was smaller and had a strange viewing angle (you have to adjust the tile until you get a clear view). While not really bad, I could've paid more attention to see if they inform which type of planes are being used during booking.
Pros: Respectful crew
Cons: Crew are ok
Pros: lots of legroom. courteous staff. bathroom is clean
Cons: everything is excellent
Pros: The price. Significantly cheaper than our normal ride on EVA through Taipei. Having said that...won't do it again.
Cons: We travel between the US and Asia a couple of times a year and normally fly on EVA, who has wonderful service and great food. We took Asiana this time because the ticket price was significantly less than EVA. Below are the reasons we won't do it again. 1. The food was awful. My wife had the Asian dishes and I had the Western dishes. Both were well below the quality of food we're used to on EVA. 2. Transit in Seoul. On the way to Bangkok from LA we had 50 minutes to transit Seoul to our next flight. The transit security line was quite long and it was obvious that we, along with a few dozen other passengers, weren't going to be able to make the connection. After much complaining from us and our fellow passengers they ran us through another security line. Rushed to the airplane and made it. On returning to LA from Bangkok it was exactly the opposite. The only option was nearly 8 hours connection in Seoul. But we had plenty of time to negotiate the transit security line. These connect times did not occur because of a last-minute ticket purchase. I purchased these tickets in July for a December/January flight to Bangkok and return. 3. Inflight service was not at the level of EVA. Like any other Asian carrier, the flight attendants were light years ahead of ANY US airline crew, but below the standard of EVA. Waking you up to eat a meal (I typically don't eat dinner at 1AM), etc. I was sleeping with my seat reclined and the flight attendant took it upon herself to upright my seat at meal time and woke me up, presumably so the person in the seat behind me was more comfortable with space to eat their meal, but hey...I purchased the seat to sleep just like the other passenger purchased the seat to eat, so I think I had just as much right to "my space and comfort" as the other passenger did. Just little stuff that doesn't happen on EVA. 4. Inflight entertainment is lacking as compared to EVA. Few movie and TV choices, few game choices. 5. We sat in economy. The seats were not very comfortable. Seems the cushions were thin and it became like sitting on plywood after a while. Legroom on the 747 flight wasn't so great, but there was plenty of legroom on the A380. The A380 seating was still kinda hard, but the legroom sure helped. 6. Boarding process. Poorly organized. Nobody pays a bit of attention to "boarding by row number". Consequently it's a bit of chaos during boarding. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" is true. For a flight of that length I won't choose to save the $200 or so per ticket and will ride on EVA. We've proven to ourselves that EVA is just pretty hard to beat.
Pros: Plane was on time and crew was courteous
Cons: Crew didn't come through the cabin enough to offer water and drinks.
Pros: Asiana air is so nice, they give all customers slipper to feel comfortable on flight.
Cons: Food is just so so and they should give snack for long flights.
Pros: Stewardesses were great!
Cons: Turbulence was horrible and couldn’t understand the captain’s English very well.
Pros: Excellent crew
Cons: Very uncomfortable seats.
Pros: Crew was nice plenty of food
Cons: Every plane delayed. They made me run to my connecting flight. My luggage never made it.
Pros: Some crew members were very kind and helpful.
Cons: This airline puts priority on Korean speaking men non Korean women with a helpless child. First of all, my child was too large for the bassinet so I held him the entire time. Fine, I get it's for safety. But to make matters worse, my child had a fever and cried out of discomfort for the first 3 hours of a 10 hour flight. A male passenger complained and instead of defending a mother and a helpless sick child, the flight crew kept insisting ways to make my baby stop crying. Do you think I wanted to hear my child in that much pain? No, of course not. One male crew member told me to take my child to the back of thr aircraft (away from the complaining man). Ummm... I paid for my seat just like everyone else!! To be treated differently just because my baby is crying is HORRIBLE. To top it off, the seats are the worst I've ever sat in. My back and butt were in so much pain from those horrible seats. Bottom line- I will NEVER fly with this airline again after the mistreatment my baby and I received. This airline puts Korean speaking men above anyone else's needs, including a helpless 14 month old who feels horrible and doesn't know how else to communicate pain. I'll add that we were on a 10 hour flight after a 9 hour layover in Incheon and a 4 hour plane ride that was DELAYED from 1:45AM to 3:45AM. We were extremely tired and had been through so much already. If the crew had been more protective of us and understanding to the fact that he's a BABY I would have let the complaints slide. Last note- this airline delayed us 3 separate times. Yes.. 3 separate occasions. Do I need to say anything more?
Pros: leg room was better than most.
Cons: seat cushions were kinda hard
Pros: More leg room than any airline I have flown in economy. Nice staff.
Pros: I like how I asked for an aisle seat and it was given to me without hesitation.
Cons: No complaints.
Cons: I could not make the flight. Medical problems.
Cons: Could use a little more movies.
Pros: Food, stewardess service, comfort inside the plane, screen entertainment and the ticket price.
Cons: Long lay over waiting at Incheon, South Korea going to the USA
Pros: I am on the plus size and I always have a hard time choosing an airline that would be comfortable for my size. Its was my first time to fly with Asiana and I was so impressed with how generous their seat space is.
Cons: Food is not the great
Pros: Good attention
Cons: The flight from Korea to San Francisco was so late more than 2 hours
Pros: I can saw movie. it was so funny.
Cons: 1. The stewards were not friendly, especially she kept on forgetting to give me food since I was unfortunately sitting by the window next to 2 big men in the middle and aisle seats. 2. In LA while getting my luggages from the caroussel, I asked the porters 3 times to help me lift, but they ignored me and just attended to the ones with wheelchairs. Even if I'm not in a wheelchair, I am a seniour, and there are aches already in my body here and there. So that day, my back was aching til the following day. Lesson learned, other airlines are much much better than Asiana when it comes to treatment given to seniours. My first time to try, maybe the last.
Pros: Roomy seats and comfortable. Nice staff. We definitely recommend to our friends to fly with this airline.
Pros: Crew is professional and courteous! I was sleeping when they came by with meal service and they left me a sticky note telling me to contact them for food when I woke up ( nice). Food pretty decent for airline food.
Pros: A bit delayed but still arrived almost on schedule
Cons: Seat needs more cushioning
Pros: Very good service
Pros: Food is good. Movies are good
Cons: It's a 2 decker plane and full. 2 of the bathrooms are not working. Flight stewardess on flight not so attentive. Inside of plane is hot.
Cons: The flight was late more 2 hours. The beverage didn't deliver usually and enough.
Pros: Service is good
Cons: There is so much of delaying and layover
Cons: No vegetarian food.
Pros: They kept changing the flight schedule on the spot and kept us waiting at the airport. Some of the flight attendant s of asiana airlines were rude.
Pros: I got delay which make me dont have enough time to check in at LA
Pros: Food is excellent. Friendly and courteous flight attendants.
Pros: Food and service were good
Cons: Delay flights had me running to catch the connecting flights just to find out those flights were also delayed
Pros: the price was so affordable and the service wa great!
Pros: Again, Asiana offers very good and efficient service for the money. Overall I would definitely fly them again and recommend them to anyone who asked.
Cons: My only complaint is that the cabin staff were often not visible for hours at a time. On my flight from LA to Seoul, the crew was constantly in the aisles offering water and juice without being summoned by passengers. There were a few times when I wished that someone would come by with water or juice, but didn't want to press the call button to get them. Lunch options as we neared LAX were both Asian style, and a middle-ground option would have been appreciated. On the outbound flight to Seoul we had breakfast options that included pancakes.
Pros: I actually didn't even feel the plane take off. Everything just worked. Seamless flight everything was great.
Cons: Nothing perfect flight
Pros: Clean bathroom, well maintain during flight unlike some airlines 5 stars for that
Cons: Chicken was grilled marked than steam result tuff rubbery. Hostess refused to exchange it with beef saying thete eas no more on the spot, not even asking others waitresses from different raw, while later on when everyone wad sleeping I went to asked for water and there you go. She ead eating the beef from economic class and a dish from first class. I always thought that customers are valuable because we pay their salaries?! Very desapointed from this hotess from the Philli. Who during the who flight treat me like dirt, maybe she hates Americain? Also most of movies are children oriented only a few for mature minds and they are over a year old. First time on Asiana and last time even been a star alliance member what a disappointment!
Pros: Crew members were helpful and nice.
Cons: 1.Flight Network said that the transaction was in US dollars. Therefore there shouldn't have been a currency exchange fee from my US bank. However, Flight Network charged Canadian dollars, so my US bank charged me a 3% exchange fee and the Canadian bank charged me another $8 fee resulting in a combined $32 extra to the price.of my ticket. Flight Network was not honest about the currency of the transaction. Kayak should require that Flight Network and any other vendors be honest about the currency of the transaction. 2. The extra 5 hours of layover at Incheon Airport was a total drag. It caused me to miss my connecting flight from LAX to Mexico City, so by the time I got into Mexico City there were no more buses running to Queretaro. I had to book a room in Mexico City at an additional expense and pay for taxi fare that I would not have needed if Asiana Airlines hadn't added 5 extra hours of layover to my trip.
Pros: The food was excellent when the steward decides to serve you.
Cons: 4 of 4 flights were all delayed and the in flight entertainment is very limited.
Pros: The food and service is good if you speak Korean, the flight attendant did not pay me much attention and the nice man next to me had to get my drinks for me.
Cons: I flew four flights (layovers each way) and every single flight was delayed.
Pros: The crew was very attentive! The food was good as well.
Cons: The crew aggressively woke you up during meals time to pull your seat up and pull your tray. A lighter approach would be nice.
Pros: Crew very good.
Cons: The beer available wasn't great quality and no red or white wine.
Pros: The in flt service was excellent. Ticket counter agents were also excellent. The aircraft, A 380-800 was super!! So much room even in economy!
Pros: Great service, good food, free (2) bag check-in policy, free movies( I saw 4 movies back to back - recent releases too).
Cons: Bags took forever to retrieve at baggage claim ( prob not their problem - may be a local airport worker prob? Plane seemed a little dated.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: Crew was great.
Cons: Boarding could have been better
Pros: Flight was "good," not great, nor excellent.
Cons: Flight was good, not excellent.
Pros: Same as the first flight.
Cons: Same as the first flight.
Pros: food is really bad, people are not taking social distancing seriously
Pros: Highly professional and nice crew. New airplane.
Cons: Replace sorry sandwiches with normal food.
Pros: Fortunately I was in an exit row, so I had legroom. Other seats were not very spacious.
Cons: Arrived SF almost an hour late, then took an hour for luggage to arrive so we missed our next flight.
Cons: some food was frozen when served (salad and cheese). Coffee wasn't that great either.
Pros: Crew was nice, seats were comfortable
Cons: I enjoyed the flight
Cons: Food had only beef options
Pros: Great movie selection during the flight. Most of the food was decent.
Cons: The boarding process was a pain in the butt. Even though my boyfriend and I did a pre- check-in online the day before. We still had to wait over an hour to check our one piece of luggage and wait to be checked in and get the boarding pass. Even though the site says we have the option to print out the boarding pass or show the code on our phone, we still had to deal with all the hassle. The plane was smelly until we were about to take off. The first meal on our way back from Istanbul was awful. The omelette was greasy, overly cheesy and bland. Same goes for the spinach pastry in the same tray. On the flights to Cairo, there was not enough drinks served. I only had one beverage offered to me. I was bypassed when they were serving the coffee/ tea. Also, the timeliness with serving drink was bad... I waited about 4 hours before getting my first beverage on the flight home.
Pros: Attractive business class fares. Among the best business class.
Cons: Don't underestimate the additional hours. The stopover in Istanbul is definitely a negative (crowded, unpractical airport). Next time I will probably stick to European airlines, if the fare difference is reasonable.
Pros: Great good entertainment n crew provided warm and courteous service
Cons: Terrible boarding process n the seats are not the best- not bad just not as good as everything else.
Cons: The stewardess actually I insisted that I do NOT recline my chair during the flight. The chairs are already too small. The person behind me didn’t have any room so I had to place it in the upright position. They ran out of chicken on both flights too
Pros: This flt was the opposite of our earlier flt from TLV to IST. This crew was fantastic--went out of their way to be helpful & pleasant. They were attentive during the entire 13 hr flt. Food was also fantastic. Restrooms were clean and easy to use. All around GREAT flt. Thank you
Cons: I wanted to look out the window while flying over Greenland but we were asked to keep the window closed for sleeping passengers. That view of the northern sea and ice cap is Phenomenal and not to be missed if at all possible!! I wanted to wake everyone up to watch it and they could go back to sleep later...;-) Boarding also took a long time...we left 30-45 minutes late.
Cons: passengers with seats in the back of the plane should be boarded first.
Cons: They didnt load a special meal (child) that I had requested for my two year old. Luckily we had packed extra food. They returned that car seat all wet at SFO. Didn't even have the decency to put a plastic cover on it. Overall I found the crew lacking any warmth and the service was mediocre at best. The food was below average. Overall highly disappointed. I had assumed that Turkish would be like it's other middle Eastern airlines line Emirates or Qutar but they are not. I would take my business elsewhere
Pros: My kids, wife and I loved flying to Turkish Airlines. Always on time, tasty and nutritious food, wonderful staff who help you with smile on their faces. Sure, we'll fly Turkish Airlines from now on.
Cons: Nothing at all.
Cons: Seating too tight/ crew staff members at Istanbul airport
Pros: The entertainment and refreshments on the flight was satisfactory.
Cons: The sanitation on the flight was disgusting. Trash everhwre, tray tables with stains on them from the previous passengers, stains on the seat cushions, dirty blankets that had stains on them, the bathrooms were foul smelling with fluids on the floors. I am never EVER FLYING TURKISH AIRLINES AGAIN.
Pros: The best airline to Europe! Period! Boing in the new 777 and has very comfortable seats with plenty of room for your feet even in economy class. Huge number of movies and TV shows. The food is excellent. Only missing part is to have some candies or chocolates for the 13 hour trip for San Francisco to Istanbul. You can not beat their price. Crew is very friendly and helpful at the same time. Slippers and socks they give you in economy class + cotton blanket of course make you feel you are 1st class traveler. What else? You name it and it is there. Will fly again with Turkish airlines.
Pros: Fantastic onboard entertainment. Lots of current movies and tv shows to watch. Music was available, too. Even a camera under the plane to see what you’re flying over...usually clouds. USB charging, big screens in the headrests, games, remote control with keyboard and game controller, network cable for laptops without Wi-Fi even. The had pillows and blankets on every seat when we arrived and handed out hot towels before the first meal. They also provided a kit with eye mask, toothbrush, cologne, and slippers. Far better than we expected.
Cons: We were subjected to at least five security checks after our transfer in Istanbul. At the gate they checked our passports and boarding passes five times before boarding, every carry on bag was searched and every person was patted down. We even watched while one man held up his baby for a guard to pat the baby down! This was all after the security we’d received to get to our gate. So, if you left the gate to use the bathroom, you had to go through all the checks again.
Pros: Food—though not much of it! If you’re asleep, good luck getting any food afterward. They were out of breakfasts after I awoke. Didn’t they count the reservations?
Cons: Restrooms dirty, cabin dirty—no owriodic seeeps, staff that makes no effort to interact. They appear frantic and overworked. sure hope the pilots are more engaged than everyone w Turkish Air
Pros: Service was very good, an excellent selection of entertainment to stay distracted during the 13 hour flight, and a reasonable rate for the flight.
Cons: The Istanbul airport is very large and there are many people. The signage is generally pretty good, but it was confusing getting off the airplane from Berlin and seeing a sign saying something like " foreigners." I waited in that very long line for at least 30 minutes which ate up most of my layover time. Only to find out that it was for people with visas coming into Turley. I was directed to another, poorly marked, line for people transferring planes.
Cons: Inability to get a full can of soda and beverages with ice, Wild kids who ran amuck in the cabins, insonsistent ventilation it was hot one minte freezing the next.
Pros: Not much
Cons: The crew wasn't very warm or welcoming. No one smiled even once. They made it feel as if they were just doing their job and didn't care about customer service or comfort. The wifi didn't work the entire trip. Also, I got rammed with a service cart because the flight attendant said he didn't see me.
Pros: Delicious food, amenities kit with socks, slippers, earplugs, toothpaste and more, fantastic entertainment system, power plugs and USB plugs at every seat.
Cons: The laptop on board ban is a mess. As we were flying to the US, we had to go through literally 4 security checks one after the other. Then, all of our electronics (laptop, camera, even headphones) other than our phones had to be taken. As everyone had to go through it , this delayed our flight by 1 hour. When we landed, we waited literally 1.5h before they started handing out our electronics. All in all, it took me 4 hours to leave the airport.
Pros: The crew on the plane was kind, accommodating, and polite. Free alcoholic drinks helped with the long list of negatives aspects of the flight.
Cons: Every flight was 30+ minutes late. Crew members at the gate were consistently on their phones and delayed service substantially. Not only am I incredibly frustrated that I could not bring my laptop onboard to do work, but the fact I wasn't told until right at boarding and it took extensive time to reclaim it makes Turkish airlines on par with Ryan Air for inconveniencing its customers. At baggage claim, the crew loaded our baggage on the incorrect track, making it take even longer to receive it. Seats and leg room are sub par. As someone who is 6'3, when the person in front of me put their seat back, I was forced to take a metal bar on the back of their seat to my knees (no matter the position). I will be recommending to both family and friends that they should avoid this airline at all costs.
Pros: We had a 13hr flight and it was a very stress free and relax experience!
Cons: my USB charger didn't work in both 13hr flights
Cons: Boarding took way too long - I waited in my seat with no air conditioner sweating so much.
Pros: As with the departure, everything was smooth for those who had no carry-on laptop
Cons: The new carry-on laptop caused a delay of about 1 hr before departure and arrival an hour late, then claiming the laptop was almost a nightmare with long queue after picking up the luggages, one has to also claim their laptops in a make shift station In the baggage claims area. My suggestion is to put the computer laptops in alphabetic order by last name/surname, with the claim ticket, for easier access when picking up. As for departure, probably at check in to inform them that if you have a laptop carry-on so that can be taken care of right away as not to delay departure when they take it at the departing gate. This should be done at check in if in Turkey, or as a transferring traveler, to inform the traveler to take care of that as soon as arrived to transferring destination and for the traveler not to wait until boarding time at the boarding gate.
Pros: Good food and courteous service.
Cons: I was crowded in amongst a family who decided to camp in my row of 3 seats. (Literally, on the floor.) I could not move because I needed the bulkhead and aisle seat to stretch my legs. I am a Diabetic and needed it for circulation. I did not say anything but, the stewardess should have made one of the people go back to their seat as he was wedged near the window and sitting on the floor. It made my 13.25 hours trip very uncomfortable. They had a child with them so, I didn't wish to complain while on board.
Pros: The flight itself was great and the crew was wonderful
Cons: Due to the laptop ban, the boarding and un-boarding process was brutal. We had to stand in line for an hour and a half just to hand over our laptops, where for some reason they decided to have only 2 people handling the process which created a huge line. The flight was 1:30 late and as we landed, there was no method to the delivery of the laptops to people. I had to wait almost 2 hours to get my laptop. Again, they only had 2-3 people handling the distribution of the laptops. I understand the security issue, but this issue was known for weeks now and there is no reason not to have enough people on the ground to take care of the boarding and distribution of electronic devices to at least make this an easier experience. There is no excuse for such poor preparation and service.
Pros: I got extremely sick on the flight from Istanbul to San Francisco. I now know I caught a stomach bug which hit me on the flights from Cape Town to Istanbul and then even worse from Istanbul to San Francisco. The flight from Istanbul was delayed by two hours due to customs delay for a passenger, as such there was a lot of recycled air. Take that and fact I'm pregnant and by time i started the 13 hour journey already felt sick. I started throwing up immediately and got sick 12 more times. the flight attendants brought me crackers, water and a cold towel and ice. My husband asked if he could pay to put me in business class but was not in airline policy. but i think given how sick and pregnant i was the flight attendant went to ask the captain if there was anything they could do to assist. they ended up moving me to business class to lie down and let me stay there for 3 hours. I got sick upon moving back but getting that rest really helped me. I felt like they genuinely cared about me and am so thankful to the two flight attendants who assisted: 1) Zumrat Bolukbas 2) Hatice (Cabin Chief) These women are amazing!
Cons: the 2 hour flight delay on tarmac.
Pros: Flights attendants were really nice, USB ports on all seats, great selection of free movies and other entertainment, very good vegetarian food.
Cons: Boarding took a long time in Istanbul and could have been handled better. A second inspection was setup At the gate to checks passports, inspect carry-on bags for laptops and iPads, and a pat-down. we were late taking off, the plane was really full, and the cushions on the seats were off a bit. Seems like the plane was cleaned quickly and not put back together carefully.
Pros: Good entertainment system and overall crew
Cons: The flight was over booked and got delayed due to issues around seating. The team on the ground in the additional security check knew no English and it was ceothic.
Pros: This was my first flight with Turskis Airlines and my best experience with flying to Europe. The food was excellent; we had two hot delicious meals (best airplane food I ever had). The crew was the best - professional yet friendly. TA airfares are cheaper than other airlines so I could spend one day in Istanbul. That alone is worth it!
Pros: Touch screen.
Cons: The screen worked slowly. The food was minimal and poor quality. The lettuce was browning so I didn't have much salad on the main dinner. Sad that there was no fresh fruit at any time.
Pros: The seats seemed further apart, thus more leg room for my long legs. I was lucky to have all 3 seats so I could lie down and get some much needed sleep. New seats seem flatter and more comfortable to lie upon if one is lucky. Crew very personable and helpful
Cons: I had FOUR TKA flights in my travels to and from Madagascar last month. Nearly EVERY seat I tried did NOT recline, nor could crew fix any! Most unpleasant to sit for 13 hrs. behind large man whose seat did reclione and mine could not. 2 yrs. ago I flew to Niger on TKA and I found the food better back then. Please keep the delicious Turkish food I fear a down grading for economical reasons. Don't do it.
Pros: Everything was great! Flight iand boarding was on time and the service provided by crew was simply the best. I enjoyed the entire flight.
Pros: The seats had a decent amount of leg room.
Cons: Stuck in Istanbul airport for three days because of snow. The way the airline handled it was APPALLING. Second night stood in line for a hotel for over four hours only to find out at 3am that there weren't any more. And none of that captures the insanity of being sent to a transfer desk with no way out except buying a Turkish visa and going through immigration. Inexcusable. I have traveled to over 40 countries in the past 30+ years and this was beyond the pale, absolutely a nightmare, and almost all of it (excepting the actual snow delay) in the airline's control. NEVER FLY THIS AIRLINE THROUGH ISTANBUL.
Pros: Took Turkish Airline from New Delhi to San Francisco. The flight is at 6:55am from New Delhi, so a little early start - but the connection in Istanbul is excellently timed. The aircrafts were 777-300ER on both legs, and rather new. The entertainment is great and the TV screens are 11inches. Could not complain at all. Food is fine, standard fare, and there are some snacks available through entire flight. Istanbul is a reasonable airport for a short connection. Turkish allows 2 bags of 50lbs free - yet another reason to take it along with the reasonable fares.
Cons: The luggage delivery at SFO took forever! The flight landed at 4:36pm and I got my luggage at 5:40pm. This is something I have noticed on Turkish Airlines multiple times. They really need to work on their luggage workflow.
Pros: The whole experience was great. After an excellent meal which included drinks before and an excellent wine selection the flt attendants came through and made up a bed for you. This included a cover for the seat, a blanket and a big pillow. As opposed to United where you have to stick your feet in a little cubby the Turkish plane has just an open bench which opens to provide storage and gives ample foot room. I have never slept so much on a flt. Also he bathrooms are much more spacious than others.
Cons: Really nothing.
Pros: The space between the seats in Business Class is phenomenal - most space i can recall in Business Class. The lay flat feature of the seat is also great.
Cons: They put some spice, don't know which one, in almost all the meat dishes and unfortunately I don't like the spice. The mushroom, potato omelette was an egg omelette laying on top of canned mushrooms and a potato cake laying on the side. This is not a potato, mushroom omelette by American standards. The amounts of food are phenomenal and I couldn't eat all they offered.
Pros: There was upgrade special on our outbound flight at check in which we took advantage of so we were in business class flight from SFO to Istanbul. That was awesome experience - very comfortable fully reclining seats, gourmet food and drinks, impeccable service, wide entertainment selection, etc. Even on the shorter leg flights we took (i.e. Istanbul to Rome and Dubrovnik to Istanbul) they served food (light snack). We flew economy from Istanbul back to SFO but got exit row seats so plenty of leg room and seats reclined good amount. Again, great service, food and entertainment. All the flights we had on our itinerary were newer planes. Turkish Airlines is so much better than American airlines!
Pros: Great service. On time. Friendly personnel.
Pros: The entire trip was very good when though it was very long due to the stop over in turkey. The flight was very good ( business class). Service and food was outstanding. The seats were good. Laying down was still a bit tight due to the armrests remaining in the same position. The crew was extremely nice and always helpful. The Turkish Air lounge on Istanbul is great and makes the united lounge in SFO look like a soup kitchen. I would fly Turkish air again.
Pros: My husband and I had a very average experience overall. From boarding to inflight customer service.
Cons: We did not plan to check in any luggage since we had few connections, so we decide to take our rimowa luggage with us. So we were forced to check them in because it was only 8kg allow per passenger on carry on. So our luggage end up full of big dents, and scratches. We reported to the airlines and it was hard to justify what we were complaining about it. As a consumer were are very unsatisfied and unhappy. One of the worst experience in hospitality I have ever experience.
Pros: Food was tasty. See other notes about dessert.
Cons: Very little legroom. When the person in front of my reclined, I wasn't even able to open my tray all the way to eat. Flight was delayed for takeoff, that wasn't the airline's fault (air traffic) so that didn't factor in my review. Although the food is generally tasty, the dessert could be upgraded. I flew on 4 Turkish Airline flights this year and have never finished a dessert as I've not liked any of them. The bathrooms should be cleaned mid-flight for a 13 hour flight. It started out great but towards the middle of the flight, the bathrooms got really disgusting.
Pros: Well I arrived at the gate 8 minutes before departure due to a late flight from San Antonio. And no one was there. I watched the plane leave 5 minutes late. The gate attendants were super rude and lazy when they came back up the ramp. I think the walk really took it out of them. There were 10 people who had run from delayed flights just standing there thinking wtf.
Cons: AA in Phoenix is always a nightmare. They seem to hire lazy people with no idea of customer service
Cons: Ramps up to the plane are a challenge for someone with movement problems. They had a mechanical issue that delayed departure for almost an hour for lack of a single screw.
Pros: Pretty efficient for a completely full flight.
Pros: Nothing on this flight was good except for the Captain with constant updates on the never ending delays.
Cons: This flight was delayed for nearly three hours due to a mechanical problem with the assigned aircraft. We did not get the reason for the delay until nearly 2 hours after the scheduled departure time. Then, when a new plane was assigned. The boarding agents were rude. The flight attendant was rude.
Pros: Got me to my destination
Cons: Attendants were less than welcoming with NO sense of humor. I found an empty whiskey container in the area under the seat in front of me. When I jokingly said that I found it empty and could she refill it for me, the attendant went off on me, telling me that she was too busy and couldn’t take it
Pros: Dear American, stop lying to your passengers stating that the flights are full, when in fact, they are not. Customers are willing to pay for upgrades but you give them no way to do so.
Cons: A toilet had no water. The internet was not working for the whole flight
Pros: The tv and drinks
Cons: Being told why we’re delayed and then not being kept on board for so long once we arrived late
Cons: In a period of 20 minutes in the hour before boarding there were three gate changes. The last one was a change of terminal and gate. You have been doing this for years and you should know how to do this already.
Cons: Constant delays, wrongful promises of when/how long delays would take
Cons: I paid $70 for a seat upgrade, and it showed on my boarding pass as “EXIT” (exit aisle) with 6 inches of extra legroom when I purchased the upgrade in London. By the time I arrived in Dallas, the “EXIT” indicator on my boarding pass disappeared. When I boarded the plane there was no extra legroom and row 16 was not an exit row: rows 14 and 15 were. I endured a less comfortable trip, and now have to go through the pain and effort to get a refund. Good luck to me...
Pros: Crew was polite, Captain was helpful.
Cons: Flight was delayed due to mechanical issues.
Pros: Great flight experience overall!
Pros: The Seats have a nice width and a nice forward-to-back pitch. They're also brand-new upholstery. Very nice
Cons: American Airlines concourse in Charlotte is awful. Standing room only, and under construction. No power outlets in the plane.
Cons: Rushing from gate to gate after sitting on the tarmac for 30 minutes after not having anything to eat on the four hour flight from PHL. Not being able to get anything healthy because the layover was reduced from 40 minutes to 5. GIVE US SOME FOOD DAMMIT!
Cons: Confusing in LAX as to where to go for the flight
Pros: I didnt like anything about it
Cons: American knew it had a problem and never resolved it - delaying our flight by minutes every few minutes - we had 38 text messages indicating a change. In addition the crew "aged out" so we had to get a second crew - waited for that. the first plane had a mechanical, the second plane had a mechanical - more lengthy delays then finally the last plane was fine - but was again delayed by yet another hour for a total of 7 hours delay. Our compensation? Non existent.
Cons: First of all, this flight was not good; that was my rating for the first leg of CLE to DFW. DFW to SJC was a disaster due to weather and multiple equipment changes. Overall the flight was delayed 7 hours, from 4:50pm to 11:40pm. I opted to reschedule for the following morning -- and that flight ended up being delayed for an hour due to equipment changes and mechanical issues. Door-to-door I spent 30 hours getting from CLE to SJC.
Pros: The flight was very short compared with LHR to LAX, so, I don't have much to say about it.
Pros: Staff was great
Pros: Customer service was friendly
Cons: So uncomfortable
Pros: The customer service!
Cons: Eventhough, I have accumulated over 100000 points. I don't get any seat upgrades or gold status!
Pros: Everything went smoothly from start to finish. On time departure. We did have to wait for a gate to open up in San Jose. It was a completely full flight.
Cons: No gate being available upon an on time arrival.
Pros: Staff courtesy.
Cons: When I started this leg of my trip, I was completely exhausted having been in sitting position for almost 24 hours straight. Airline made no concessions for travelers knowing that some were just doing a simple trip and those others whose journey was very long. Narrow seats added to stress and discomfort. Airline policy seemed to be "Give me the money and I will deliver you safely. Period" Humanity seems to be last on airline list. Traveling is seriously grueling and unpleasant for all those not in First Class.
Pros: People actually boarded by group number
Cons: Sitting in premium economy still doesn't giive enough room to spread out papers and get work done. Out of four segments I only got upgraded once despite having 16 upgrades in my account.
Pros: 1, Crew are very attentive 2. Great seat
Pros: The flight boarded really quickly with absolutely excellent service from the flight crew. The pilots and crew were so considerate, and helpful. They totally took care of all of us. From the time I got on to the flight to the time I got off the crew were there to make sure I was taken care of.
Pros: The staff that pushed us thru the ridiculous process of going thru customs , getting our bags checked again & raced us thru to our connecting fight was amazing !!!
Cons: Our connecting flight was too close given we were coming back from Mexico& had to go thru customs. The security at customs were so rude to my mother who was in a wheelchair! The customs checking process was a joke! We barely made to our flight running thru that entire airport pushing my mother in a wheelchair. I can't tell you how horrible the experience was for both of us!
Cons: "Parked" on tarmac for 25 minutes waiting to leave LAX. Arrived half an hour late
Cons: This flight transfer was totally ridiculous, and required me to exit security, take a bus, get through security again, take another bus, and then wait in a crappy gate with one single terrible food option. Whoever thinks this is a reasonable transfer ought to be subjected to it themselves before booking it for others.
Pros: I had a family member enter the hospital 5 hours before take off. I got a full refund, even though I didn't have trip insurance.
Pros: The plane was brand new and the crew were very nice. Entertainment system was well-done with good selection of movies. Even unedited movies!! Great.
Cons: The plane was delayed for a half hour before it was marked as "delayed" and then it was delayed another half hour. If I had known it was going to be an hour late I would've been able to eat a proper dinner. They seemed to be out of every normal drink on the drink cart.
Pros: Staff was kind.
Pros: The plane was a newer Boeing 738 plane and has AC power outlet at every seat. However I was not able to use their in-flight movie channel on my tablet since there were too many users.
Cons: I am an Executive Platinum member and normally should get a meal even in economy. It was not offered on this flight. The crew didn't have a friendly attitude.
Pros: Flight was prompt. Crew was good.
Cons: Not seated together with my wife. Looked at paying for upgrade, but no seats together.
Pros: Everything went smooth. Staff were professional and friendly
Pros: The Crew were outstanding and the flights were quiet and smooth. Very comfortable flight!
Cons: No issues
Cons: THe reading light was broken
Pros: We boarded on time, we sat in the exit aisle, so we have a little extra room. They offered free movies, which my husband took advantage of. Pleasant flight
Pros: On time
Cons: We were so crowded. No leg room. The lady next to me was too big for her seat so it was hot and sweaty the whole way
Cons: airbus A320 doesn't have power ports at seats....
Pros: Entertainment was not available for the latest Safari browser 10.
Pros: Smooth, quick flight!
Pros: Again getting moved up to first class
Cons: I would have liked to know before I was already seated in Coach.
Cons: It's not the first time that I was forced to gate check my carry on luggage. They claim that the cabinet in the plan is full while actually there is plenty of spaces for multiple luggages to be there. The crew was rude and refuse to explain it in an acceptable way. When I asked why cant I carry it when there is enough space, she simply says because you just can't. Do you want to take the plan or not! This is unacceptable.
Pros: Main cabin extra leg room.
Cons: Barely any help with delayed flight and connecting flight. Had to say a prayer and sprint through DFW to make the connecting flight.
Pros: I missed my previous flight, and even before that my day was going pretty bad. I was quickly routed to the desk to get a replacement ticket, and even though the flight was oversold, they had me wait around until the plane was ready to take off. A couple minutes after they shut the door of the boarding bridge, I was called and told to follow one of them. It turns out a couple of people were headed to the right city in the wrong country.
Cons: The flight was continuously delayed and ultimately cancelled. There weren't a lot of connecting flights until much later the next day, and the customer service was fair at best.
Pros: A staff of 2 attendants on a crowded A 321 is minimal, not optimal
Cons: flight delayed by several hours
Cons: Connection time in Vancouver is horrible and international transfer process is awful Especially with small children
Pros: I liked that they served three meals - one hot lunch, one sandwich, and one breakfast. Also that they frequently came through with water refills. Very good entertainment system, although it was off for rebooting for about the first 30 minutes in the air. French red wine blend was excellent. They seem to always have French wines.
Cons: Attendants restocked the bathrooms, but didn't seem to clean them much (sticky floors - yuk). Wish they had some English newspapers on board to read. The food was only fair.
Pros: The crew was very helpful and nice!
Cons: The baby changing tables are way way too small and the metal hinges on them are dangerous The plane seemed small - like the seats and restrooms. It was a tight squeeze
Pros: Easy online check in and was able to pay for baggage at the same time. Staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable flight and decent food. A little late taking off but we still arrived at our destination on time.
Pros: Our daughter's first time traveling alone. She slept most of the time and she said it was fine and comfortable enough.
Cons: The flight was delayed by an hour and then once up in the air, passengers were told the food cart didn't make it the 6 hour flight so no food or snacks for the entire flight from Montreal to San Francisco.
Pros: The plane was quite new, and that's pretty much it.
Cons: The food is unsuitable for human consumption and so as some of the crew were unsuitable for the position.
Cons: The attendant’s name is Karen. She first caught my attention was the way she talked to the passengers. She was like a parent or a teacher telling her kids to share but not solving their problem over the head bin. Then before we were landing, the passenger next to me asked for her help to put her bag into the head bin because she’s not tall enough. Karen said she’s doing security check and never came back. I managed to help my neighbor passenger before landing and was very impressed to this flight attendant.
Pros: Flight pretty much on time
Pros: Entertainment still free with behind each seat screens still.
Cons: Only one security line to U.S. connections in Montreal Trudeau, which was slow and disappointing as both my wife and I are Nexus holders and usually enjoy relaxed screening in shorter lines.
Pros: The fly attendants were very nice. The plane is old. The overhead storage is so small that it was hard to fit in carry on luggage's.
Pros: Plane was nice Crew was great
Pros: Good leg room. Staff friendly and helpful. Really great flight.
Pros: On tiime
Cons: Has to wait an hour and a half at the gate to park in sanfransico
Pros: Comfortable seats with good entertainment system
Pros: Flight crew was nice and helpful.
Cons: The in-flight viewing service was not functioning. For an entire 6 hours and half, we couldn't watch movies or anything else.
Cons: We were already running late when during take off, one of the engines malfunctioned and we had to emergency break on the runway and go back to the gate. Because it was unexpected, we had to wait even longer for a gate to become available. We then had to re go through customs and get our bags then wait in line again at the counter to schedule our flight for the next day. Thankfully we were given a hotel room and money for food. Very scary experience overall on the runway, but they tried to handle it as smoothly as possible under the unusual circumstances.
Cons: Instructions on Air Canada's website when you Google "how early should you get to the airport flying Canada to USA" say you should get there 3 hours ahead of time. For a 6:40 flight I got to the airport at 3:40, as instructed, and checkin wasn't even open. Per Air Canada's website "You should arrive at the airport three (3) hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. Pre-board security screening for departures to the U.S. opens at 3:00 AM. Exception: 20 minutes for flights departing from Toronto City Airport (YTZ)." Check in staff told me I should have gotten there 2 hours ahead. This is very conflicting. Considering I was heading to a 10 hour trade show, believe me that hour of sleep I lost between 2:30 when I had to get up for this flight and 3:30 when I could have gotten up sure was missed. Correct and consistent instructions to passengers go a long way.
Pros: The plane was comfortable, both flights each way were on time and the crew was very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: The 6 1/2 hour flight from Montréal CANADA to San Francisco, CA USA, is considered a "shared border flight," which means 1) you pay $25 for your first checked bag, $35 for the next, and $100 for subsequent bags. The food is horrible and the type you'd expect on a puddle jumper from NY to Boston. Clearly Air Canada executives are aware that Canada and the US are separate countries. This is just an attempt to gouge the consumer. Unfortunately Air Canada is the only Airline I can fly out of Montreal so I'm stuck with them. : (
Pros: The crew on board were good.
Cons: I wasn't able to check in online or through the kiosk to my flight and then had to wait in a 2 hour line to check in at the counter. After I get to the counter the ground staff grumbles and says I'm just going to make it to my flight!!
Cons: The flight was delayed several times without any explanation or update from Air Canada at all. Everyone was at the gate ready to board at 6:50. The screen didn't indicate that it was going to be delayed. There was no one from the crew or AC at all at the gate until 8:30. No announcement, whatsoever. Then when we finally arrived at SFO, the plane was circling above SFO in a storm for another one hour and fifteen minutes...
Pros: Super nice crew!
Cons: Inaudible boarding
Pros: Flight was not full and reservstions mde some time ago but we were seated several rows apart. inexcusable!! Several others were also seated apart so we talked among us and people moved around so that family and couples were together, no thanks to airline. Service and food were second class at best.
Cons: The flight stood on the runway for multiple hours. We should have been let out to the airport so we could eat
Pros: Seats were much more comfortably shaped than on my Air Can flight from Toronto to BRU. More legroom! Food for BRU to Montreal was decent.
Cons: No snacks for Montreal to SF. Pretty brutal for people who didn't buy a dinner in the terminal. If you're only going to sell meals on the Montreal-SF flight, make them a little less expensive. Otherwise, people will just eat nothing and dislike their Air Can experience...
Cons: There was little seating space. I was unable to fully recline back because the person sitting behind me was too tall. Also had broken/uneven food tray.
Cons: On the way back from Quebec City to Montreal we were asked to check our carry-ons as luggage, because "there is no room' on the plane. It was an empty flight. ALL overhead compartments were empty. Both flights - Quebec to Montreal and Montreal San Francisco were late. As the result, we have to spend 1.5 hours in the baggage claim area, because "there are no baggage agents in SFO available". THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE ONLY HAD CARRY-ONS! By far, one of the worst flight experience in the last 10 year.
Pros: Size of plane allowing for aisle seating.
Cons: Delay with boarding for about hour without a good explanation. All monitors in airport shows plane on time when it actually was not. Boarding process also took a bit of time perhaps due to many elderly on the flight. Seating was also confusing as the middle seats did not correspond with aisle seating. This caused delays as passengers had to figure out where they were sitting. Checked in luggage at gate since flight was full and we were asked to volunteer to check-in luggage. At baggage claim, bag delay to retrieve luggage after already hour delay in departure. Bags was not labeled or categorized correctly causing an extra half hour delay to claim bags.
Cons: Air Canada shares a trait with many other incompetent organizers: everything is fine if nothing goes wrong, but there are no contingency plans in place in case something goes wrong. So, things get more and more delayed. Can't you predict roughly when the plane is going to land (once it is in the air!) and arrange for some gate to be open, so that we don't have to sit on the ground for 45 minutes once it has landed, for example? People who know how to organize are ordinarily capable of doing that. Furthermore, the lack of transparency is really frustrating: we just sit on the tarmac with no indication of how long we're going to be there, and the estimates of the delays are completely wrong when we're given them.
Cons: The fight had intercom problems and that delayed us for 5+ hours with no decision as to the resolution. We finally got home at 4 AM ....
Cons: Moved to another flight despite the fact we were on time to make the flight through security.
Pros: The flight number was changed, but the new flight got in 45 mins earlier which is always a good thing. Every seat had a screen which kept me entertained.
Cons: Flights delayed both there and back, with no advance warning and no reason given. Online & airport signage said flight "on time" the whole time. Asked Air Canada Customer Service desk in Toronto to change signage to accurate time, they were SUPER snooty and treated me like an idiot. Signage did not change, my husband came to airport "on time" to pick me up and then had to sit there 1-1/2 hours. They are inconsiderate jerks.
Pros: Was really tired as just arrived from Tokyo, but it went well. Folks nice.
Cons: Airport signage and boarding was a bit confusing, as our announcements overlapped with the gate next door and couldn't tell difference easily.
Cons: Nothing was free. Cmon we are traveling on a long leg from Paris to Sfo and this was only one part of the trip but food costs money, earphones cost money. Give me a break!!
Pros: We were safe.
Cons: Big problems with frequent flyer miles. After a number of hours into the effort I am told my miles won't count. For the average airline it takes about 30 seconds to join the frequent flyer club. Air Canada now is my last choice for long flights. Ok maybe before Frontier.
Pros: All crews were nice and friendly.
Cons: Would have been great if I had a Entertainment (movies, TV etc) screen on my seat for my Vancouver - KIX flight.
Pros: once i got through checking in everything was ok
Cons: if i knew the name of the man i talked to at checkin i would make a complaint specifically about him. i lost my passport a few days before coming home and went to the united states consulate where they told me to bring a printed copy of my passport and the united states boarding patrol would let me back into the united states. the man at the checkin didn't want to let me through to even speak to the united states border patrol and told me the consulate was wrong. i almost missed my flight because of his stubborn arrogance. once past him i was able to explain what happened and show what identification I had and everyone was very nice to me.
Pros: Boarding is the best!
Cons: I do understand mechanical issues occur, but your communication of these issues was awful! My god, you cannot tell if your electronics are working before you board people. One thing I can say for America, they do not mess around.....they fix problems....your team sucked leaving Toronto Barcelona two weeks ago and then you suck leaving Toronto to SFO. Please understand, folks have flight connections and the number one thing then need from you, instead of water is information on whether their flight will be waiting for them!!!
Pros: Crew was nice and friendly and gave free Direct TV
Cons: Kayak sent me an email indicating both my flights were on Air Canada but my flights to and from SFO were on United. I was unable to change my seats online with no explanation.
Cons: We didn't like having to pay for carry on luggage. When we left SFO and flew to Montreal, if your bag was 21 inches, not 20 they checked it for free. Traveling back to SFO the counter person made us pay to check a bag, even though we knew if we went to the gate, they would take it. This was not good or consistent. We will not fly on Air Canada
Pros: the boarding process was smooth and organized.
Cons: food should be part of the ticket and not extra payment. In a 5 to 6 hours of flight there should be at least some snacks offered.
Pros: I enjoyed the pleasant crew and the constant water being given.
Cons: The crew was very pleasant and helpful. However it was unexpected that no food would be provided on a 5 hour flight. If not a small meal then a snack was expected. The crew did provide water consistently which was very nice. My personal entertainment screen was very unresponsive and then the head phone jack wasn't working for sound, I had to hold it at a certain angle to hear bits of sound. Since the head phone jack was located at my thigh it was very uncomfortable and when I shifted I broke my headphones :(
Cons: Air cananda made me go crazy... They didn't prepared anything after I missed my flight. Because of immigration. They just said to me that was not their fault. But you know, I arrived at air port 5am. My flight time was 8am. I asked aircanada clerks to get into gate quckily. But they had me wait for a long time, and they said everybody was waiting, so that's not problem. But when I got into gate at 8:45, My plane already had gone. And I went to Air canada service center, I had argued for 5hours... because they just prepared my flight from Toronto to San Francisco. They didn't care about Connected air plane was Asiana. So I Had to call three company.. Asiana, Kayak, air canada... that was horrible time. Air canada didn't want to have responsibility about missing air plane. That's why I had to contact with Asiana...the first time Asiana didn't want to prepare air plane for free... I had to try to explain my situation and problem three times.... Finally I got a ticket for free from Asiana. I could departure at 9pm from Toronto. I stayed in Pearson air port for 15hours... because of Air canada's GOOD!! customer service v^^v..... I will never use Air canada !!
Cons: Missed our flight in dublin and the crew wouldn't let us board even though we were there with sufficient time.
Cons: That i showed up in maple time and the plane was oversold, then they put me on another flight which made my pick up at another airport costly!
Cons: 1. I ordered kosher meal, and we haven't because it finished. 2. The flight was full I couldn't findo a sit with my kids. I sit separately.
