The crew was extremely rude ( I would present a proper complain through United Airlines website). The small tv were completely old. I bought a ticket for ANA but operated by United Airlines. but I was not expecting this awful experience."

Cons: "After a long journey in Japan, flying United back to the U.S. was a rude awakening. Their crew has no regard for the manners or respect in Japanese society. I was sitting in an exit row aisle behind a restroom in economy. The staff kept bumping into me and my entertainment system as they tried to rush up and down the aisles. Really taking a breath and walking more slowly could have resolved this. At one point, the staff almost caught my arm between my seat and their rolly cart. The plane was old and in disrepair. My neighbor's entertainment system screen needed to be propped up with duct tape. The seats are stiff and uncomfortable, and the headrests are designed so that if you have a U head support, it will collide with the headrest and curve your back into a C. Some staff could use a refresher on basic Japanese. One flight attendant kept asking everyone "US Citizen or 日本語？" which means Japanese Language. Those are not mutually exclusive questions for many bilingual flyers. I usually tolerate airplane food, but this was the first meal I could not eat on a plane. It was eggs and hash browns, and it was so mushy and salty, I decided to pass. The bathrooms dirty quickly, and are a disappointment compared to the amenities provided on your basic Asian carrier. No toothbrush. No hand lotion. Just soap. We left Narita after 5 pm, and were served this weird dinner breakfast meal. Six hours later (of a 12 hour flight) it was about 11 pm in Tokyo, and 7 am in the destination city of Houston. Might as well get back to American schedules? I don't know, but when I was naturally getting tired and putting on my sleepmask and earplugs to get some rest, a rude flight attendant kept asking me if I wanted breakfast or orange juice, shoving items in front of me (with one hand, a no-no in Japanese culture), and repeatedly asking me despite me shaking my head no. I really don't know where they hired these people. My bag got held up by customs in Houston, and United transfered it to a third party courier service who tried to call me at 1 am to deliver it. That was a bit later than I expected, and I missed the call. The next day, I tried to call the driver, who hung up on me! I called their customer support, who was unable to contact the driver or the delivery service. Just who did they hand my bags to? Thankfully, after an 18 hour wait, I got my bags back, but it was a stressful wait. Throw a dart at a list of Asian airlines, they're all better than United."
Cons: "I tryed to call and send messages to chande the date of flight, but I didn't get any answers from agent. ANA Japan said they cannot handle the changing flight. So I haven't got a return ticket rescheduled. Please advice me how to get new ticket back to Hawaii date of 9/12 or 13 ASAP."
Pros: "Seats tip back pretty far, without cramping up leg room for the person behind you too much."
Cons: "The passenger behind me was playing games on the screen on the back of my seat. So, my seat was constantly being tapped and it was more difficult to sleep."
Pros: "I had the distinct pleasure of flying in an aisle seat in the back of the plane with an empty middle seat. I quickly and effectively commandeered the middle screen (for flight information) and underseat storage to provide extra leg room in front of me. The flight attendants on my side of the plane were all friendly and wonderful."
Cons: "The entertainment lacked a little... entertainment. There was a simingly limited selection of films and those available were mostly, to be frank, terrible. The food, not terrible, was simply par for an airline. There was also a rather heated discussion between a flight attendant and a passenger on the opposite side of the plane from me."

Cons: "One of the male flight attendants was rude. Never seen such an impolite flight attendant before. Tapped my shoulder from behind to ask what drink i wanted which freaked me out, refused to lend a pen to passengers sitting next to me saying they could borrow one from ME and loaded extra snack for strangers sitting next to me on my table without telling me what you to do with them - am i a sandwich distrubutor who is supposed to stay awake till other passengers wake up to eat snack? I almost thought he was a racist that refused to talk to people who seem to speak no English. If that's the case, he'd better learn other languages so he can actually COMMUNICATE with passengers."

Pros: "I liked that the flight was on time and earlier. The pilot was awesome and landed the plane as gently as I've felt it could be. The plane was super awesome! I loved the ample space on the overhead bins and also love the newer entertainment systems. Speaking of entertainment, thank goodness it had new movies and included Disney."
Cons: "Too many public announcements. Kept interrupting entertainment. Then again, I sat in 32B and my screen was frozen for like half the flight. I told the flight attendant, can't remember her name, she was black, but she said she'd restart it but it never worked. I told her more than once, and it still wasn't fixed. She never even came back to check whether it was working or not. She just ignored it. But all the rest of the crew were wonderful. Also wished the boarding were in order. Each group should board in order, that way we can place our carry-ons above our own seats."
Pros: "Compared to ANA the service crew in United, NEVER smiled even once except for one of all the ones at least assigned where we sat. Food was not bad but just ok."

Flight attendants were asked for ETA several times in flight and never gave any information to passengers. At one point saw them taking selfies in the front of the plane service area. Worst service I've ever had in a flight"

Cons: "Unfortunately, despite the text message saying the flight was canceled, the ANA ground staff in Taipei that we talked to assured us it was not canceled. But it was. And so ensued 24 uncomfortable hours of pain. Thanks, United."

Cons: "The quality of the food served (in economy) on this flght was far below what is normaly expect from United (which isn't much!). If this is United's new meal service for trans-Pacific flights then Delta may be a better option for future "cattle class" flights... The flight was fully booked in all classes. The flight attendants were lazy, at best, and I seriously question their training and competence. I travel this route on a regular basis, every three months, and I've never experienced such poor quality of service from United."

Cons: "Although I am not enough of a united member to check into your club, I am in the military and I was told by your staff that checked me into my flight, that I could use the United Club as a military member. I went to the United Club in Narita going to the states I was allowed to go into the club. On my way back in went back to the same club and was told because I'm not going to Afghanistan I wasn't allowed into the Club. I walked away shaking my head at that. I guess because I am in S. Korea for a year without my family, that isn't good enough to be in your club."

Cons: "The meal was horrible. Never a good idea to serve a breaded dish if the dish will end up soaking the steam and be soggy by the time the passenger gets it. Bread was too hard for the plastic ware to be able to cut through it. Entertainment system was down too."

Cons: "ANA is the epitome of full service, and has among the highest costs in the industry. So why did I have pillows on my mid-day HKG-NRT flight, but no pillows on the redeye (0145 departure) HND-HKG? I was shocked. I used my shoes as a pillow. Really shocked! I don't expect pillows on an LCC or other cost-conscious carrier, but HND-HKG in the middle of the night? Really??"
Cons: "The delays and plane changes started the night before, and continued throughout the day. All were listed as "Operations issues". When I arrived for the flight, it was delayed about 30 min. When boarding time approached, another delay and no plane in sight. When the other plane finally arrived almost an hour after our scheduled departure, we were told it would be a quick boarding. People started waiting in line, but no passengers were getting off the arrival. After a short time, the announced they were having problems with the luggage. After about 30 min of waiting, the flight was finally cancelled due to "weather", even though you could see other flights taking off. I'm sure it had nothing to do with our arrival airport being closed for the night by the time we would have arrived. Thanks United for the $55 cab ride. Every trip in the last year on United has either had a delayed or cancelled flight!"

Pros: "-- Friendly staff: the crew seems to be Asian based, and I have to say that they seem more friendly and less tired than the American based crew that I encountered during my flight from SFO to Asia. Same company, but different employee benefits?!"
