So here's the story. Eugene is a Michelin-starred gem in the city and one of the top restaurants to visit. On the day of our reservation, I came down with a terrible case of the flu. But because I didn't want them to miss the experience (and frankly needed a night to myself), I sent my partner and 5 y.o daughter to the restaurant on their own. And it was hands down an amazing experience. They were treated like royalty, from the door all the way through dessert. Plus, when the chef learned that I was sitting back at the hotel, sick - he put together a delcious, healing duck soup and sent it home with my family. My daughter, months later, still talks about the food here. Definitely plan for a special night out.
The best place about this spot is the energy. It's super lively! Sit outside if you can and try to get there before the crowds or you'll be waiting a long time for a table.
What CAN'T you do here? Walk up to the rooftop, hit the bike trail or just shop for books, gifts and clothing. Check out their schedule for live music. So many great restaurants, we set up a crawl and just bounced from one to the next. Def go to Biltong Bar for cocktails and South African eats, or Ton Ton for a satisfying bowl of ramen. And you'll find the perfect gift (or book) at Posman Books.
Great boutique hotel with a staff that really goes the extra mile. I loved that you could sit out front on the patio with your morning coffee or cocktail and people-watch. Warning that because this is a historic hotel -- and boutique to boot -- bathrooms are really small.
