FAQs - booking Saint Lucia flights

  • As a US citizen, what documentation do I need to fly to St. Lucia?

You will need a US passport that remains valid throughout the duration of your stay and the passport must have one blank page for a passport entry stamp. You're also required to show proof of your upcoming departure, such as a return airline ticket, confirmation that you will be staying somewhere during your visit, and proof of your financial ability to support yourself while in St. Lucia.

  • Can I rent a car from an airport in St. Lucia?

There are a number of car rentals in the immediate vicinity of UVF airport, including Budget, Rent A Car St Lucia, Solo Car Rentals, Sixt, and Fox. To get a car rental from SLU, pre-book the rental and arrange for the agency shuttle to pick you up at the arrivals curb of the airport.

  • Which NYC airports are accessible to someone with autism?

All three NYC airports are accessible to someone with autism. JFK, LGA, and EWR all use the Sunflower Lanyard Hidden Disabilities Program, which is designed to assist people with not-so-noticeable traveling challenges, such as autism, PSD, and Crohn's disease. Travelers sign up to get a lanyard marked with sunflowers which discreetly signals to airline and airport staff that they need assistance and extra time with the travel process.

  • Do any of the NYC airports offer facilities for nursing mothers?

Yes. All three NYC airports have installed Mamava lactation pods in their terminals, freestanding 4x8 units made of Corian and fiberglass. These private, clean, lockable spaces provide comfortable seating, a fold-down shelf, a power outlet, and room for a stroller and some luggage.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from New York to Saint Lucia?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Saint Lucia with an airline and back to New York with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from New York to Saint Lucia?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Saint Lucia from New York up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Saint Lucia

  • Morning departure is around 23% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • New York City has three major airports: John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). JFK and LGA both serve as hubs for Delta and American Airlines. EWR serves as a hub for United Airlines. Most flights from NYC to the Bahamas will land at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), located on the southern end of Saint Lucia Island near the town of Vieux Fort. Some flights might land at George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) toward the northern end of the island.
  • Caribbean Airlines, American Airlines, and Air Canada offer one and two-stop flights from JFK, LGA, and EWR, all landing at UVF. Layover cities include Washington DC (DCA), Charlotte (CLT), Miami (MIA), and Toronto (YYZ). You can find two-stop flights to SLU, but departing from JFK only, on airlines such as Caribbean Airlines and Aer Lingus.
  • UVF is an international airport that sees traffic from airlines such as American Airlines, Air Canada, Delta, JetBlue, Virgin Atlantic, and more. It does not handle inter-Caribbean flights. To fly among the Caribbean islands, you will have to drive to SLU at the northern end of the island.
  • The George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) handles flights among the Caribbean islands. Airlines such as Air Antilles, Air Sunshine, Caribbean Airlines, Intercaribbean Airways, and more fly from SLU to Barbados, Fort-de-France, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Antigua, and other islands in the Caribbean.
  • Depending on how much luggage you have and how hectic your schedule is, sometimes taking a taxi to your chosen airport in NYC is the most convenient, or even the only option. There will be a flat fee to any of the three airports, plus a surcharge based on the time of day. On top of that, you have to add in a tip to the driver. All in all, the cab ride to a NY airport could cost EC$243 to EC$270 ($90 to $100).

Awful. Flight was continuously getting delayed and gates kept changing without any reason. Flight was delayed for more then 3 hours

The plane was FREEZING SEATS UNCOMFORTABLE Otherwise smooth Thank you

I'm a larger, athletic guy (6'2", 260lbs powerlifter) and I found the seats incredibly uncomfortable with minimal leg room, especially in a window seat. Now, I full understand that being smaller may change my view but even if I was 80lbs less, my legs would be the same size and I was sandwiched between my seat and the seat in front of me.

Seat back monitors and outlets were dead and not working.

The crew, food, and entertainment were all good. But my screen had some sort of bug where if I turned it off, it would turn back on after 2-5 minutes. At full brightness. It made it very hard to get any shut-eye on the overnight flight. Also, the older Boeing plane, while nicely cared for (and no doors fell off 😅👏) doesn't have the nice air quality of newer planes. So I felt a bit greasy by the time we landed in Sweden.

Service was good for such a short flight. Small plane but smooth flight.

The flight was delayed but we got to our final destination.

Uncomfortable seats on 14 hour flight. Mediocre food. On time and great crew.

The helpful attitude of the staff, and being a wheelchair passenger everyone was helpful and understanding. The trip was made comfortable by the upgraded seat which was given without my request, that was a great surprise. Thank you Delta.

Everything went well with the flight. But one of the flight attendants had on inappropriate pants. She had on an old worn out pair of sweat pants. The back seam was unrivaled and should not have been worn for work. If I had not seen her in the airport with the standard type of luggage, I certainly would not have thought she was working for Delta. Not a good look at all for representation.

There was no music on the flights unless you came with your headset.

Their bar selection could be greatly improved; they only had one spirit option

Music would have been great and information about the flight. Meaning how high and the weather conditions.

It was good but the food was small for the duration of the flight.

I wrote to the entertainment and food OK because it was non-applicable All excellent

Checking in online still requires going on the physical check in line

I enjoyed the smooth flow and well coordinated boarding and the very courteous attitude from the cabin crew We look forward to flying with ya’ll again

Pleasant experience checking in. Seating is way too tight, especially for persons who are not petite. I thought the pilot was excellent in terms of his commentary and information. Wrong gate information on boarding passes. If I was not alert I could have lined up to board the wrong plane.

The crew was excellent, check in was easy ,the food wasn't good, movies should be recent and more selections

The captain was great he made jokes and make thebflight very comfortable. Alerted us about the islands we flew over and Yolandra and her team took great care of us, very personable.

The flight was excellent. The crew was welcoming and attentive.

Going through JFK’s security is a mess. The TSA security said no shoes on the bins. So, we place our shoes in the belt and they came out all over the belt. Boarding was delayed and Flight as well.

There were multiple delays but JetBlue tried to make the boarding and departure process as quick and efficient as possible. The crew was as detached from reality as could be, meaning: not very friendly and just doing things by the numbers.

Jetblue needs to improve on Onboarding as it seems to always be behind on departing. It never leaves on time. I would recommend to have an earlier Onboarding in order to leave on time and respect your customers time as well.

40 minute delay before take off after boarding flight. Bright lights throughout night flight due Issues with light panels. In flight Entertainment nonfunctional

I booked this flight using JetBlue points and I was just so happy. The plane was so clean, I had every need met. Thank you!!

Another horrible Jet Blue experience. This airline has suffered the biggest decline of all from best to worst. TVs didn’t work (again). internet was temperamental. Boarded late and couldn’t get organized to serve snacks.

I hate their constant delays! It’s as if I cannot confidently make plans for timing when I'm traveling with them. I slept through it, so all I can say is it was good.

The staff at JFK were rude and unhelpful. I was harassed for the same bag that I used on my flight to jfk with no issues claiming it was the inappropriate size. The women then allowed my travel companion to board with the same size bag because they thought she was more “humble”. Also on the flight when informing the flight attendant that nationals no longer have to fill out the Bahamas immigration form my statement was met with eye rolling and attitude.

One of the crew members, a male complained about my bag being too heavy, which I felt was really unnecessary. I am disabled and would have carried it myself if I thought it was going to be a problem. In addition the landing was rough because everyone gasped in unison which it touched down.

Fantastic. Smooth boarding with an infant. Never experienced it with any other carriers.

An hour and a half late is UNACCEPTABLE. The negative impact to our family is unconscionable. And for the price we were forced to pay...

Flight was delayed 2.5 hours - a big deal on an overnight when you plan to sleep.

I feel like they have upgraded the app since I last flew United and I found it to be super helpful. I had stopped flying United unless absolutely necessary and my experience on this trip indicates they have been working hard to improve their services.

flight delays, staff only communicating when pushed, food service lasting a grand total of 7 minutes, stuck in seat from 45mins into flight until landing

Nice flight, nice crew but no cookie or napkin with my seltzer.

The flight was canceled. Got rebooked to Chicago and when we arrived our luggage where to there. They were going to our original destination the day after. They would not deliver them to our house. We had to go pick them up.

EWR terminal C United Club is great. Flight and everything else mediocre

737 Max was leaking water into the cabin through the windows. Overhead bins opened on landing. Bad bad plane.

Very bad , airplain had problem with engines , had to evacuate, had a delay on my trip for almost 4 hours , lost my rental car in london..

The preferred seats where awful. Impossible to use them again

Delayed multiple times. Boarding was ok but getting off the aircraft was a mess. So disorganized with staff trying to help the elderly but completely blocking path for anyone else to move. Bathroom was disgusting, probably caused by one of the customers but staff couldn't care less to help clean it. No one wanted to use it since the floor was completely soaked so everyone just lined up the other restroom while the staff just chit chat with each other while looking at us.

I was in business class. There was an excellent headset. But half an hour before arrival they collected them! The rest of the trip I had to use a cheap earphone. There must be a better way to protect the headphones.

WiFi connected but only let you go to the AA website, not even text messaging worked.

I think the seats on some of their planes are uncomfortable. You can be ok on a short flight of two hours but no more than that. The delays, and also the refreshments on the plane were not enough.

Awful customer service on the phone. No phone number on the website to call a real person. Website says changes are no charge but this is a lie. I had a cheaper ticket through Kayak therefore Finnair wouldn’t change it unless I would pay the entire fare again. I begged but their agents at the airport were rude and the online chat person cut off the call with no help. Super disappointed. Wont fly this airline again and will tell everyone I meet how bad it is. Crew on the flight was nice but otherwise huge disappointment.

The flight was excellent, provided that we had inclement weather. We departed earlier than scheduled and arrived early. There was a little turbulence, but nothing to be worried about.

It was less than what is expected for a business class ticket I thought that the staff actively ignored me because I either looked Indian or Hispanic to them and I guess I did not deserve their attention. The food which included a beef entree was not available so not enough food was ordered for number of seats available. I will say experience in Greenwich lounge was very good and the staff there at the airport were very nice. May be your crew needs to learn about racial equity so that everyone gets either the same aweful treatment or hopefully the best treatment which is what we expect I recommend you take a flight with Singapore airlines that I have taken and the crew remember your last names and use it to address each person, food never finishes if you are at the back of business class and crew anticipate your need even before you articulate. Same price and 100 times better service than American Airlines

pleased with overall experienced, but seats in coach are tight.

Don't often sit in 1st class. Our experience was great.
