FAQs - booking Mexico flights

  • Where can I exchange currency at SEA?

While some establishments in Mexico will accept US Dollars, you should consider exchanging your Dollars for Pesos to be able to transact easily while in the country. If you want to exchange currency at SEA Airport, you can find the currency exchanges in the post-security area of Concourse A, the ticketing level of the Main Terminal, and the post-security area of the South Satellite Terminals.

  • Does SEA Airport have any lounges?

Alaska Airlines has three lounges; near Gate D1 on Concourse D, in the Mezzanine level on Concourse C, and the North Satellite. The Delta Sky Club and United Club are both located in Concourse A and you can find The Club at SEA in the Central Terminal and North Satellite.

  • How do I get to Guadalajara from Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL)?

Guadalajara is roughly 11 miles from GDL Airport. You can either get there using the bus which is boarded from the bus station in front of the main terminal, or with a taxi which can also be found outside the main terminal on the front side. Car hire is also an option, and you get to choose from some of the most popular rental companies such as Sixt, Budget, and Europcar.

  • Is public transport available from Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX)?

Yes, MEX Airport is connected to a bus system that transports travelers from the airport to the city center. These buses can be boarded from Terminal 1 outside doors 6 and 7 and in Terminal 2 outside door 3 on the lower floor. If you want a more convenient option, a taxi would be worth considering. To get a taxi, you need to buy a ticket from the “Transporte Terrestre” booth and then head to the taxi ranks outside Terminals 1 and 2 and show the operator your ticket.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Mexico

  • Morning departure is around 49% more expensive than an evening flight, on average*.
  • When flying out of Seattle, you will use Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which is one of the busiest airports on the west coast. For that reason, you should try and get to the airport at least three hours in advance so that you can have ample time to go through the long security lines.
  • If you’re flying to Mexico to visit Cancun, then you should book a flight that lands at Cancun International Airport (CUN). This is the main airport serving the city and therefore the most ideal place to land so that you won’t have to deal with intercity buses from Guadalajara or Mexico City.
  • For anyone planning to leave their vehicle at SEA Airport, ensure you compare the prices charged by airport parking and the off-site parking lots. In most cases, the off-site parking lots charge lower rates and you could end up saving a huge amount of money.
  • Even though pets are allowed in the airport, you should ensure that you keep them in a safe carrier while at the airport. It is also your responsibility to ensure that they aren’t a nuisance to other travelers.
  • Public transport is not available from CUN Airport to Cancun. Therefore, when flying to Mexico through CUN, you will have to take a taxi or use the airport shuttle to get from the airport to the city center.

Expect to get miles for us having to miss our first planned flight due to them waiting on passengers that decided to be late to the airport.

Up on arrival, due to twisted ankle, I wasn’t able to walk. Requested for a wheelchair. They immediately asked for it. After 10 minutes wait a young man named Carlos picked me up at the gate, got my baggage and took me to the pick up area. It was a great service. Thanks Alaska Air line

Once I was in my seat, it wasn't as comfortable. It was very tight (width wise).

Just a little delay in our takeoff but all was well and pleasant.

Command crew was excellent in handling dangerous flying conditions (weather).

I usually choose Alaska Airlines over any other airline. They try the hardest to make flying a great experience.

Staff being friendly would have help since the flight was delayed, again. Folks answered questions but no one seemed happy to be working today and if showed.

It was a full flight without any issues or stress. Really surprised with how so many flights seem to have issues nowadays.

You guys did great, the only thing keeping me from the higher rating is the physical dimensions of the seats, which staff has no control over. Keep up the good job.

Flight was good. Glad it was delayed or I may have missed the connection since I got to Seattle at about the same time my connection was to leave. The snack was a small bag of pretzels and a small soda. Can’t really call that food. There was no entertainment available on the flight.

Had a broken tray in business class. Crew just shrugged it off.

Everything was great except for the seat. The backrest would not stay in the upright position.

public website still broken for years randomly blocking browsers with privacy options active after loading a page maybe once. check-in on laptop was almost impossible but eventually randomly worked. had to print pass at airport since couldn't get back in to load digital pass on mobile firefox or chrome. red eye flight so smooth onboarding, plenty of room to spread out, easy offboarding. onboard wifi instructions mention vpn can cause problems connecting but fails to also mention private dns. no printed or built in menu list, seems weird to require personal device to point at qr code link for menu which does not even allow direct ordering. people with health condition risk related dietary restrictions trying to avoid for example cholesterol and sugar are left guessing what they can order either way without nutritional info highlights (cranberry juice was minute maid cocktail with as much suger as typical can of soda). tap to pay wasn't working and always seems sketchy to manually enter card info. good movie variety, so limited tv was okay.

Bag drop off was slow and annoying. Only 2 agents at the entire delta desk, and no one directing traffic for what line to be in, many confused people slowed down the process. Boarding was fine. Seats in Delta comfort plus were fine. Snacks were great! Definitely a bonus. The entertainment system was awful — old, slow, not responsive, and completely unable to play games due to some kind of error. But on the other hand, thank you to Delta for the free WiFi. That made it better.

Flight diverted in SD. Later take off in Seattle by 1.3hrs

Mi primera conexión se retrasó por lo cual perdí mi segunda conexión la cual salió adelantada

Crew was not friendly when I went to request a seat change.

There were choices for the snacks. Good choices and tasty lunch and breakfast as well.

The flight crew was amazing. I’m very tall and they moved me to an exit row unsolicited!!! Amazing service.

The boarding process was terrible especially with an indirect flight Chicago to Seattle to San Diego was terrible talking about we overbooked a flight idk if I’d take this airline ever again we got off our flight from Chicago to Seattle and we traveled for business and they told us our connecting flight was over booked and their was no seats asking people to take a delayed next flight and they don’t tell anyone coughing to wear masks seats 30A-B were terrible during the flight no one wants to sit next to people coughing all around I don’t want to be sick traveling for work or get sick anytime it’s very upsetting the staff doesn’t take this stuff serious to tell them to wear masks when they see people coughing and sneezing

Happy attentive flight crew. All in all good flight the night flight works well. Getting into Mexico City early so you don't get caught up it all the immigration and custom ques, additionally, this helps when exiting the airport and crossing the city to your final destination. All works very well and would do it again

Some entertainment and food/snack service would have been nice

All the pessengers should be wait in a line útil the creo and piloto are arrived.

Planes seat could be bigger very uncomfortable for tall humans.

Atraso de dos horas y media con vuelos sobre vendidos

Great airplane The confort was within the high standards. My only little problem was That all the movies ( only 3) was on Spanish, even though I was selecting the audio on English it didn't happen. After that I highly recommend aeromexico

1 hour waiting for suitcases to come out traveling in business class and food in business class is a sandwich? Avoid Aeromexico .

Aeromexico es siempre una buena opción, relación precio calidad adecuada!

No space reserved for anyone who didn’t have underseat in front of them. Made it inconvenient to get the backs secured. No inflight entertainment in the 190. Bring your own! Food was excellent and we were surprised to get a full breakfast.

Cons: "left Houston more than 2 hours later, arrive in Mexico over 2 am"

They gave my seat away although it was a connecting flight with them and the flight was a bit delayed.

Flight was cancelled had to move to another gate late again no internet paid for the month and never can use it waste of money

Not being able to purchase my check in baggage online was a negative.

LATE LATE LATE!!! Plagued by late AA flights on this trip. Such a drag. This one was by far the worst.

WiFi connected but only let you go to the AA website, not even text messaging worked.

Too bad that first class seats do not recline significantly causing discomfort

I think the seats on some of their planes are uncomfortable. You can be ok on a short flight of two hours but no more than that. The delays, and also the refreshments on the plane were not enough.

Flight delayed over an over all day until it cancelled at 1:30am. Would not repeatedly delay that late. Offer hotel rooms and rebook early. Very difficult for families with small children

Not sure why JAL partnered with American Airlines because their service is no where near similar. Flight attendants were not friendly and didn’t smile. Food was horrible…

this is starting to seem like an american airlines standard. delayed flights and fake apologies… getting tired of it

The WiFi tv wasn’t working. The flight was over sold and moved several times. The gate assignment appeared on the screens right as we were supposed to board. Because of the flight being over sold we were almost stuck in Cancun for a couple of a days. The flight attendants were unfriendly and would wake you up to pick up other people’s trash.

The reason we chose Volaris to fly from LAX to Mazatlan, Mexico was because of the DATES and TIMES for the NON-STOP flights. When those flights got Totally Changed that was UNACCEPTABLE ! ! ! Also, when my husband Died unexpectedly, the Only statement that Customer Service kept repeating was "they would only offer Credit on a future flight". REALLY?! Volaris was only going to offer CREDIT on another flight to a DEAD PERSON ! ! !

Service of the person who gave us the boarding pass

Overall good but we had a minor scare when a wind shear caused the plane to re take off on the first landing attempt. The crew handled it well and we landed safely on the second attempt

It was unfortunate that I paid more than $120 one way to carry on my luggage to only have to have them checked baggage. We board the flight and there’s a lot of overhead space. They checked our bags in Group 2 but Group 3 was able to board with their luggage. I would not fly Volaris again. The flight attendance on the plane was very nice but the employees at the gate prior to boarding was very rude.

For the price, you pretty much can't beat this airlines. As far as comfort, you could do a lot better, but it'll cost you. Over all cheapest way to get from point A to point B.

To many extra fees, poor customer service and very uncomfortable flight. No leg room and seat wont recline.

I am disabled and was unable to get any assistance from Volaris. I had to wait in line at front desk for 45 minutes, I am by myself, and unable to stand. When I got to front desk check in, they had no assistance for me. I did however, have wheelchair assistance when I arrived in Mexico City. Thank God for that!

It was horrible, our flight back was overbooked and had to take a flight 12hours later in the day but to LAX. Volaris is horrible.
