Top tips for finding cheap flights to Freetown

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Freetown flight deals.
  • Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRMs) need not worry about their flight to Freetown. FNA PRMs can access free returnable wheelchairs and other PRM-friendly services from the General Waiting Hall of the airport building.
  • Freetown International Airport (FNA) is the focus airport for SWISS, KLM, Delta, and Turkish Airlines. These airlines, therefore, offer the highest number of flight options from the US to Freetown's FNA.
  • The Freetown International Airport (FNA), also known as the Lungi International Airport, serves the capital area of Sierra Leone as the only international airport in the country. This airport provides convenient and inexpensive connections to major destinations in Africa such as Banjul and Accra, but also to cities in Europe, such as Brussels or Paris.
  • Accessing Freetown from the airport will mean crossing the Sierra Leone River. Therefore, expect to take either a large “water taxi” boat or the cheaper, albeit slower, public ferry. Either will bring passengers to the other side of the estuary in about 30min to an hour or so. As an alternative, there are buses or taxis which can take the highway from the airport, but these rides will generally last for several hours due to traffic congestion and the need to circumvent the estuary.
  • Passengers will find most of the services they need in the General Waiting Hall of the airport building, including ticketing services (for both airlines and local transportation) desks, a lost & found office, dining options, and an information center for tourists.
  • Need to exchange currency once you land in Freetown? The Arrivals Hall of the airport features two bank branches in addition to a currency exchange office where travelers can receive local currency (Sierra Leonean leones). There are also a couple of ATMs which will dispense local currency for holders of international bank cards such as Visa, Mastercard, etc.
  • Need some refreshment during your journey? The Freetown International Airport features a number of cafés and small bars serving drinks and light fare in both the Arrivals and Departures wings of the main terminal building. These locations operate during normal business hours.

Overnight flight in the old style Business class, but still very good.

Overnight flight in the old style Business class, but still very good.

I was in business class, without the business class amenities. Large seat with lots of legroom, but no TV or bed. Food was okay, but I did enjoy the Turkish red wine.

Excellent service and comfort from the moment you check in. Flight crew is hyper focused on making passengers comfortable and at ease. It’s like a flying hotel!

Only chicken as a meat dish through out the flight

Nothing really was great as such. Seen other no name airlines perform better.

Quality of service on board was very inconsistent. FA service primarily seemed robotic and they barely engaged with passengers

I’m unclear why I had to pay extra for assigned seats as Turkish airlines did not honor the seating. We were placed across the aisle from each other on TK 34, and were seated behind one another on TK 694. Because my name was misspelled on e-ticket (Klawiter, instead of Klawitter) I could not log onto website to get the connection gate number in Istanbul. The monitors in the airport were a jumbled mess 1/2 Arabic and 1/2 English.

On line check in needs a lot of improvement. I tried and gave up.

Food not good, flight attendants not the best, not accommodating very ruff

the female flight attendant was racist towards me. I could tell she treated the two other passengers next to me with more softness.

Well....let's start from the point that I had to stay in airport for 12 hours instead of 2 that was scheduled. Poor company and even worst customer service. Never again....

The flight and boarding were easy peasy. I was traveling with my 4-year-old, so a smooth boarding experience was especially appreciated. My only piece of feedback is really about where our gate was in O'Hare. They've shoved four gates into a tiny corner of the B terminal and there isn't early enough room or seating for everyone. Not United's problem, but did dent the overall experience.

We liked the fully reclinable seats. Had center seats, so it was difficult to talk to spouse. Crew was great

Aisle chair was good and liked the foot bar preventing you from putting your foot in the isle, The breakfast on this international flight to Zurich was horrible (Europeans, specially, used to good food) may make this a dealbreaker for booking with United Airlines again. I agreed with my Spanish fellow passenger.

Dinner was okay but the breakfast was not eatable on the flight San Francisco to Zurich.

There was no screens on board AND the WiFi didn’t work. My seat was broken and couldn’t recline so I couldn’t even sleep. The flight attendants didn’t offer anything to make it more comfortable. It was such an old cramped plane, when the person in front of me reclined I couldn’t even open my tray table. All the United ads talk about guaranteeing everyone gets a screen!

The Wi-Fi was unavailable on this flight for some reason.

The flight was delayed almost 2 hours. Bad customer service etc. I will never fly Luthansa. Ever!!!

On time take off…US cabins look tired and need of refresh!

Fine. Though no food or entertainment so the survey needs to be updated with those options.

I missed my connecting flight due to long lines at security and immigration. Need improvements

Food quality is deteriorating each time, last year was very good. I avoid the plane food lately.

Been flying on various airlines, all over the world, for 50+ years. The food on Brussels Air was easily the worst I ever endured.

I felt the overall quality of the plane and food service was less than that of their partner airlines, United. An example was wine was served in paper cups in premium economy class. There was no real silverware, napkins or a welcome kit other than a pillow and blanket.

Boarding time was a bit slow causing the flight to not leave right at 5 pm,but other than that it was fine.

I like the frequent mails we get when there is an update. Please keep it up

I have traveled to probably over a hundred locations worldwide, but had only one mixup of airport in Shanghai. Until Iceland and Stockholm. Reykjavik has 2 airports, Stockholm 4 (!). Please indicate clearly when a departure flight is scheduled from an aiport other than the international aiport. That would greatly reduce stress. Thanks

in the front - higher class of business - sitting in the same seat (with one empty in the middle) is not acceptable any more. need the business class to be as we paid for.

More than one hour detail with no explanation and no compensation

my husband's monitor did not work. there was a visibly ill family in my husband's row.

There were some things that were not maintained well on the plane. There were foot rests that didn’t elevate for myself and my son in law. The flight attendants were excellent. Boarding in Senegal was chaotic.

Everything could have been better. The food was bad, the service was bad, and the flight staff were not very friendly.

I had surgery on both of my legs in February 2022 and the flight was booked in March. The purpose of booking business class was to have an opportunity to stretch my legs due to the surgery. The flight going and coming was so difficult for me because the seats were broken, I have video and pictures of this horrible flight and a report from my surgeon regarding the this. It is unfortunate that I will have to get a lawyer to get a refund and sue this airline. I have sent them correspondence regarding the incident as well as the Better Business Bureau and they refuse to respond.

After paying for business class, we were given anything but business. They used a rented plan from China that had no inflight entertainment, the seats were broken and besides that, we had a 15-hour layover in Dakar. The same problems existed on the return flight. The flight from New York to Baltimore was the worst, the flight attendance decided to have a personal conversation and I am guessing that because there were only three passengers in business class, that they did not have to give the emergency announcement and proceeded to carry on their personal conversation during the entire flight. Worst travel experience of my life!

First time in my life that i had a 5hrs delay with no agent to give us any explanation...We had a very bad experience with Air Senegal...while Senegal is a nice country to visit but the Air Sénégal airline is very bad in customer service...

normal business seats with sufficient leg room. good food. no entertainment whatsoever

Very comfortable flat bed. Perfect for overnight sleeping. Interesting that a dozen wheel chairs were provided to the elderly that have been walking teh whole evening only for them to board eaely. Made a joke that HC408 stood fo handicapped.

Flat bed !!!! and even free wifi !!! offered in business class. Price was 50% of competition. I came from ABJ and price was the same. Had phantastic fresh ornage juice for breakfast. All flights over the atlantic are like that. The rechecking of luggage and waiting time to go in same plane to BWI was a bit of a pain. Might make more sense to continue travel directly in JFK. For example we arrived early at 6 am in JFK but continuation at 9am and security only opens at 7.30am

Babies, crying, movies and sound doesn’t working overpacked and delayed flight

Pretty good flights! If they can let y u s know regarding delays by announcing it in the PA system it would be a good business practice!

Good but your male staff should be more appreciative of customers. After all you are making a lot of monies from Nigerians.

Delays with no communication. Broken business class seat and no one seems to care or help.

Adequate. Served our purpose of getting there safely. Nothing to rave about. Decent value for the amount paid

Old planes that are not being maintained with at least basic cleaning. Plane smells awful, bathrooms not cleaned either. Very uncomfortable chair. Customer service probably one of the worst I have experienced. The AC dis not work, kept us on the plane for over an hour with no water and air condition

Old planes that are not being maintained with at least basic cleaning. Plane smells awful, bathrooms not cleaned either. Customer service probably one of the worst I have experienced.

I lost my connection flight from Casablanca to Marrakech because we arrived late to Casablanca. I had to rent a car to continue my trip . I need refunds

Bad service in la RAM from beginning to end. The crew ladies are impolite and rude and insensitive to passengers requests. I do not recommend traveling with Royal Air Maroc (La RAM) - worst service.

I thought it was great because the seats were really comfortable for the long flight. The food was just ok, and could have been a bit better.
