Prices were quoted in CAD and were asked in USD at a way worse rate than what I anticipated, and with no internet on the spot to verify and show my reservation I had no choice but to accept and go with whatever they were saying. The car was in rough shape and not particularly clean, with the radio inoperative and bits ands broken inside, and at drop off they charged me 190$ for a cleaning fee because there were some dog hair on the floor in the back. Overall when I should have paid 425$ Cad I ended un paying over 1100$ cad. I should have stuck with the competitor’s rental, this was way overpriced and will definitely not recommend to anyone.

I was overcharged. I will be disputing credit card charge. KAYAK booked me the van at a price $300 cheaper than what I was charged and Budget said I needed to contact KAYAK. Very bad experince

We didn’t like being told there was not a 7 person vehicle on hand that fit our order. We did like that they set aside a ford explorer that did meet our criteria

Budget tried to give me a sedan even though I paid for an SUV. This was right after they gave away an SUV at no extra cost to the person in line in front of me. They took an hour to find another SUV.

After making the reservation I immediately realized the dates were wrong and that I did not specify returning the car to a different city. I took immediate action to try to modify the reservation. I found It was impossible to use kayak to modify the rental. So I’m dissatisfied with the basic service of Kayan. Next, I tried contacting Hertz directly, only to be told to use their web site over and over again. The web site was zero help, and getting a real live person to assist me was next to impossible. I decided to cancel the original booking and to try to make a new one with corrected dates and drop off point. Hertz then tripled the daily rental rate. So I went with directly booking with Avis and got a better rate, and upgrade than what Hertz was offering. Neither Kayak or Hertz have been helpful, or cost effective in this matter, and I will advise as many people as I can to not use either of your services. Since I attempted to modify my initial rental within one hour of making the reservation, but was driven to total frustration by the lack of customer service, I feel that I should not be charged for the rental cancellation. So, you folks at kayak, are you really listening?

Terrible experience overall. Stay far away from this place for many reasons: 1. Car rental facility is far from San Diego (on the border with Mexico), 2. Staff does not speak English. 3. No flexibility with rental terms. 4). Unreliable cars. Ours broke down the second to last day, with less than 50 total miles driven. Car had to be towed back. Never received so much as an apology (again, the language barrier), let alone an offer to remunerate for the giant fiasco that was this rental experience. Long story short, do not rent from them!

The car had a strong vibration throughout the drive tha.There was clearly a lack of cleaning.. there is a sticky substance around the gearshift. I use the supplied cleaning, wipe wipe to clean .

Pros:

Pickup and dropoff were a breeze

Cons:

Car was filthy, but I rented at the last minute so maybe there was no time to clean? Windows had paint pen on them, windshield had tape on it like it had just been replaced, interior hadn't been cleaned and there might have been mustard on the steering wheel!
