I paid upfront for the car hire. When I eventually got to the Budget hire at City Airport (including £25 taxi to get there) I was told that I could not hire a car - due to a previous driving disq (which has now expired but remains as note on license for an extra 2yts). - I was never asked about this during the hire process; - it has never stopped me hiring before (I hired a month ago, not from Budget); - I was not offered a refund WHAT IS THE POSITION THERE? - my weekend was ruined I could not get to where I was going

The shuttle van from the airport was fast and convenient. The representatives at the desk were friendly and efficient. There was no line like I have seen at other airports. The return process was fine (except the first representative failed to print us a receipt and we got no email either so had to go back). The car itself, however, left a lot to be desired. It was much smaller than the “typical” model they advertised and though it said “or similar” we didn’t feel it WAS similar. The interior had clearly not been cleaned and was missing a floor mat entirely on the drivers side. It had not been washed, at least not recently. As such, the wipers were so dirty that on the drive home, in a downpour, they honestly were a hazard — we could see next to nothing of the road due to the smears. When we tried to call the desk to let them know of these issues, no one answered… for three days. And when we emailed and requested a response, we got none then either. So communication was a huge problem too. In the end, we cleaned it ourselves and luckily the wipers didn’t need replacing, just a good scrub. But we were extremely frustrated.

Insurance not included in price quoted or presented as an option. Price then doubled at pick up when car picked up to include insurance. Not receipt or rental agreement provided at pick up. Called ro request invoice not received, Bank statement transaction is for twice price quoted at pick up which is 4 times price quoted on Kayak

The car was a little difficult to handle on the small roads in England. Also my friends were offered a hybrid and yet I wasn’t and I spent a lot more money on petroleum.

Pros:The staff were great, the car was great.
Cons:We arrived in terminal 2 and there are only shuttles from terminal 3. With a toddler and all the bags and car seats that entails it was a long walk .

- We were told that we if had to return the car early we won't be charged anything on top of what we have paid, even if out rental agreement had a minimum period - We were not told about the city supplement fee at pick-up nor drop-off - We were charged a damage fee for a damage that was there at time of pick-up without being sent an invoice or anything like that, money just disappeared from my account - I had to wait a total of 95 minutes on hold for someone to respond to our concerns
