After making the reservation I immediately realized the dates were wrong and that I did not specify returning the car to a different city. I took immediate action to try to modify the reservation. I found It was impossible to use kayak to modify the rental. So I’m dissatisfied with the basic service of Kayan. Next, I tried contacting Hertz directly, only to be told to use their web site over and over again. The web site was zero help, and getting a real live person to assist me was next to impossible. I decided to cancel the original booking and to try to make a new one with corrected dates and drop off point. Hertz then tripled the daily rental rate. So I went with directly booking with Avis and got a better rate, and upgrade than what Hertz was offering. Neither Kayak or Hertz have been helpful, or cost effective in this matter, and I will advise as many people as I can to not use either of your services. Since I attempted to modify my initial rental within one hour of making the reservation, but was driven to total frustration by the lack of customer service, I feel that I should not be charged for the rental cancellation. Terrible experience overall. Stay far away from this place for many reasons: 1. Car rental facility is far from San Diego (on the border with Mexico), 2. Staff does not speak English. 3. No flexibility with rental terms. 4). Unreliable cars. Ours broke down the second to last day, with less than 50 total miles driven. Car had to be towed back. Never received so much as an apology (again, the language barrier), let alone an offer to remunerate for the giant fiasco that was this rental experience. I am always disappointed in the hertz in Hoover. Unfortunately it’s the only one close. The Kia I was first going to get was empty and a bit dirty. I took it back and asked for a different car I would wait for it to be cleaned since they said they had one but it would be an upgrade and needed to be cleaned. I paid the extra $30 and drove the Malibu to the airport. Just wasn’t a great experience. I’m unsure if it’s the location or drops offs, however the ppl seemed nice but overwhelmed.Reviewed Jun 1 2024

I liked that I could do everything on my phone, and that the drop off point was at my hotel. I did not like that the drop off point had limited hours with no drop box. I returned when they reopened but it took me a while to find the attendant.Reviewed May 31 2024

I am absolutely appalled by the service we received from Hertz at Brisbane Airport. Our wait time was longer than our flight over from New Zealand! There was a genuine lack of care from the single staff member on duty, whose incompetence and inability to use the rental system caused a significant delay. This resulted in us missing our family dinner, and the staff member showed zero empathy towards our situation. Despite escalating the issue to Hertz on social media privately while standing in the queue one week ago, we have yet to receive any response. This level of customer service is unacceptable and disgraceful. I would strongly advise anyone considering Hertz to look elsewhere to avoid a similarly dreadful experience.
