Pros:Pickup and drop off were easy, the car was new (2020 model, 14k miles on it).
Cons:The car *reeked* of cigarette smoke and getting a tire replaced was a hassle despite insurance. We did not notice the smoke immediately on pickup because we were wearing masks and they had sprayed some cleaning product which covered it up for a bit. We left the windows open for hundreds of miles of driving over three days and the smell never quite went away. Considering that they charge around $200 from renters who smoke in the car, one should think that they do more about it afterwards. Or at least compensate renters who get the car afterwards. We also had a lot of trouble resolving an issue with a flat tire. Roadside assistance was fast, but the donut spare tire they put on only works for 50 miles. It took us over half a dozen phone calls to different Alamo/Enterprise hotlines and branches, trying to get a replacement car or a new tire. No replacements cars were available in the entire Albany, NY region due to the holiday weekend. We finally learned from a more competent employee that Alamo and Enterprise have a partnership with Firestone, so you can get a tire replaced there free of charge. It would have saved us about an hour to learn that from the first hotline which you call for roadside assistance. Also, when you book full insurance you expect that these kinds of things are covered more flexibly. It appears that totaling the car in an accident would have been covered but getting a replacement tire anywhere but Firestone would have not? How does that make sense?

Pros:everything was great minus being told I owe $400 more than my kayak quote.
Cons:BEWARE "airport access fee"= $80, they charge for additional drivers without mentioning the charge. Scammers. When I did complain about the $400 overcharge at drop off the man working there imediately knocked off $300 of it, but still way above the kayak quote. Also the schlep to LGA is no fun and is apparently worth charging $80 without warning.

Pros:National/Alamo is closer to terminals and the shuttle picked us up almost immediately. Bit of a line at the rental office but if you've reserved in advance USE THE SELF CHECKOUT KIOSKS. Made a huge difference in getting us out quickly.

Pros:The pickup process was quick and smooth (the guy helping us even knew exactly which insurance is covered by our credit card and what we should get from them) and we were pleasantly surprised by the car we got. The "or similar" bit of the car descriptions when making a rental car reservation can be misleading but in this case the car we got was nicer than expected! They were also quick and accommodating upon return. It was overall a great experience and we will definitely rent from here again.
Cons:My only complaint would be that there were five self help kiosks on site which we were not able to use because we have New York driver licenses. I never quite understood why and wish that had been indicated somewhere on the kiosk before we wasted our time trying four times.
