Price. Condition of room was almost new.
I loved the high pressure shower head and I enjoyed swimming in their pool!
I made an online reservation so when I added a day another reservation had to be created. I was called at 10:50 am on the end of my online reservation asking if I was checking out but I wasn't.
Cheapest room in town at the time. Staff members were friendly. Good assortment for continental breakfast, although a choice besides grape jelly for toast/etc. would have been nice.
Room was very, very musty. Common areas in the wing I was in were very worn out and needed new carpeting/furnishings. No ice machine in the vending area.
The breakfast was OK.
The rooms smelled of mold, even after we switched rooms there was an overwhelming smell of mold. Overall the staff was unpleasant and rude.
This hotel was in a very good location. It was extremely clean. The staff was very kind and helpful. I was extremely impressed with the overall experience I had at this hotel and would recommend it to others looking for an inexpensive but comfy stay!
The room keys wouldn't work. Had to get them reloaded at least 10 times. We ended up just leaving our door opened because the staff was rude.
Room smell like mold
Clean, well maintained, no malodorous stink, as is comm0n in other facilities in the area, and no Mexican workers getting drink in the parking lot, as is the case at the adjacent Super-8.
A tad pricy for the level of facility and location, although not out of line with others in the area.
The front desk personnel were friendly and very helpful. The room was well-cleaned and comfortable. I would certainly stay at Econo Lodge again. It was a pleasant experience.
Over charged what we booked for. And wouldn't issue credit
Free breakfast is awesome and the pool is great, indoor.
would like earlier check in time, a hot tub with the pool, better cable channels, less expensive to bring pets, dog walking area
The rooms were fairly clean, but could use some updates. The breakfast was excellent and a wide variety-best part of the motel.
The hallways were extremely dirty and stained carpets left a bad feeling. Odors in the hall.
For a value hotel, it was definitely a great value. Cleaner, better breakfast, and good beds.
very fast, friendly check-ingreat pressure in shower
no conditioner; just shampoo
everything is good
The breakfast was delicious and varied.
The doors slammed if you weren't careful.
Very comfortable beds
No elevator, have 2 torn shoulders
Location; accepted pets; price; easy check in and check out process
Rooms/hotel needs to be updated; make pool area more inviting; maintenance is a BIG deal always!! Keep all walk areas, especially side doors clean and clear.
The employees were quite rude.
It was clean .
Pool closed by 10.Continental breakfast was basically cereal & donuts .
We were given a smoking room which was yellow and stinky. They refused to give our money back or find us a different room the first night. The staff person on Friday was not helpful and told me it was my mistake. Never again!
Easy on/off of IH-35
Service was a little slow and seemed rather overworked, as if they were tasked with one too many things than they could realistically handle on a night in which they were apparently overbooked.
I will never go to this hotel.
Can't review the hotel! Wasn't able to stay because Princeline booked us into a smoking room when we asked for NON-smoking. When we got to the hotel they had no other rooms, so we had to moved to a different hotel and now Princeline WON'T give me the money back, even though I called within an hour of booking the room to inform them of the problem. SO...DON'T BOOK THRU PRINCELINE!!!!
We had a family group staying at this hotel due to a college graduation. The hotel staff allowed us to use the breakfast area for our post-graduation dinner, and let us use the area well into the evening. Their flexibility and willingess to meet our needs was super!!!
We went to Ames to attend my sons graduation. We had stayed in all the other hotels in Ames. when we were a little slow in finalizing plans for this trip the only place left in Ames. We now know why. From the room smelling like it had be closed up for several years to poor service it was a bad experience from start to finish. We were told there would be an LCD TV with HBO but had neither. the free continental brekafast was underwhelming, the internet dropped every time you tried it. In total my advice was if everything else is full in Ames get comfortable driving from Ankeny or Des Moines - don't stay here.
dont stay here. i have stayed in other heartland inns and thought this one would be ok..it wasnt..the front desk was less than professional, the rooms smelled, the television was very old. there was about 10 channels, there was a small pool and no hot tub. this hotel is not worth the price.
Have stayed here twice and was very impressed both times. Large, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Great location next to highway. Lots of small touches that you don't normally see at a motel in this price range. We will definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at 3 Heartland Inns in the Ames/Ankeny/Des Moines area and have never had a bad experience. It is a great value for the price. The staff is genuinely friendly and caring. But, the Ames location does need cosmetic updating. It should help to draw in more people. If I didn't know how nice it was inside, I wouldn't stop just judging from the exterior.
