The recipient of Best Resort in the Caribbean Award in the 2004 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Survey, and the Gold List 2005, Malliouhana Hotel & Spa has been regarded as one of the finest resorts in the Caribbean since its opening in 1984. Stretched over 25 acres of lush, landscaped gardens, perched atop a panoramic bluff overlooking the azure blue waters of the Caribbean and reaching down to the fine, white sands of Meads Bay and Turtle Cove beaches, the resort perfectly blends the understated European elegance incorporating the finest elements of service, comfort, fine dining and the warmth and hospitality of the Caribbean.
Malliouhana Hotel in Anguilla enjoys a reputation for being one of the finest hotels in the Caribbean, and its guests, 70% of whom return to the resort year after year, endorse this accolade. The success of Malliouhana lies in the dedication of its creator and owner, Leon Roydon who together with his son, Nigel, runs the hotel.
Leon Roydon’s vision was to blend the finest elements of leading European hotels with the warmth and relaxation of the Caribbean. In Anguilla, Roydon found the perfect backdrop for his creation - pristine beaches and genteel, gracious people.
Jo Rostang, the Michelin three star and top rated Gault & Millau restaurateur, embraced Leon Roydon’s concept and together they created Malliouhana’s state of the art French restaurant. Today the late Jo Rostang’s son Michel Rostang, himself a Michelin two star and highly rated Gault & Millau restaurateur, continues the alliance with the Roydons. Under his supervision the menu features gourmet French cuisine with a Caribbean flair.
Malliouhana Hotel has a staff ratio of four per room, two per guest. Its simplistic yet sophisticated approach has made it a favorite retreat for the rich and famous, but Malliouhana’s guests can always rely on absolute discretion. As Leon Roydon points out, “The goal is to offer our guests total relaxation and quiet privacy. We get many celebrities but we never disclose their names to anyone. We never advertise. We rely on word of mouth”.
