Stayed here for the night during homecoming at IU. Found the front desk clerk to be very helpful and friendly -offering good restaurant suggestions. Wasn't expecting much from the room (used to staying in 4 and 5 stat hotels) but found the bed to be extremely comfortable and got a very good night rest! A little pricey during the homecoming weekend for a travelodge but all hotels raised their prices that weekend based on the demand.
The rooms are always clean and cozy. The bed was really hard though. Its good for a night or two but not a long stay if you want to be comfortable.
VERY CLEAN! PRICEY FOR WHAT IT WAS! OHIO STATE VS IU FOOTBALL DRIVES UP THR PRICES.
I would stay again for the value assuming that I would be spending my time else where and using the hotel to sleep and clean up.
The service was very good. They were very pleasant and if we asked for something, they responded right away. It is located near the mall and IU, so it was very convenient for us. One minor thing was that the room was facing the busy intersection, so we could hear cars go by. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
A large sign promised free Internet, but not only did the Internet not work, the telephone didn't even work. The TV remote control didn't work, either. I asked twice at the front desk about the Internet and the telephone, and the staff person said it would be fixed in about two hours, but it was never fixed. The next morning, I told the new person at the front desk about the problem, and he was surly with me. The room was extremely shabby. The wallpaper was coming off, and the carpet was very frayed. There was a hole in the seat of the desk chair, and the stuffing was coming out. This was absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed.
While the hotel is old and in need of an update, it accomodations are clean and the staff is accomodating. It's in a great location and is a good value for the price. I've stayed there several times to visit my daugther at college and would do so in the future.
The hotel is not far from IUB campus and is not upscale, but offers a clean nice place to stay, across the street from the mall and not far from other entertainment. We were in Bloomington to check out the campus for my nephew. The owners are great and very friendly.
Stayed in this hotel 13 years ago, and the room smelled like urine. Still smells like urine. Owners were very nice, but the rooms were not clean enough.
I was visiting IU and hoping to go without renting a car, so this Travelodge was the closest option. It was very reasonably priced (I payed about $100 for two nights), but I would NOT recommend considering it walking distance to the University in the winter time. The walk was miserable. The hotel itself was good. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. Basically the only draw-back to me was the fact that the shower was a single stall instead of a tub style shower. The fact that the hotel was a little older was somewhat evident in the bathroom, but it had been well maintained. The continental breakfast was minimal: coffee, cereal, oatmeal, and plain bagels. Still, it saved me from buying breakfast and considering the hotel price, I was happy there was breakfast at all. Definitely worth the stay if you are on a tight budget.
Room not clean- Stunk of cigarette smoke- lousy hard pillows worn out mattress
We were visiting Nashville for a family vacation and chose to stay in Bloomington for the cost and location. The staff was nice. The rooms were clean. The beds were well used. They tended to slope to one side making it uncomfortable to sleep. The television also had no volume making it impossible to hear if the air conditioning was on. I would not stay here again.
It?s very simple. We checked in late and had unpacked and changed into night clothes before we discovered the sheets on the bed were used and dirty. We called the front desk and simply asked for clean sheets and pillowcases. The sheets were delivered to us by the night staff/manager accompanied by a slur of the people he claimed to be responsible but to whom he would not be able to speak to about the problem ?because I don?t speak Hindi, although the owner does.? However, the sheets delivered to us were for a double or smaller bed and would not fit our king-size bed. Nor were we provided with fresh pillow cases. My wife called the front desk again. The same night staff person answered by saying, ?Oh, you again.? He then delivered a stack of sheets to us saying ?The right sheets are in there somewhere'' and stalked off. No apology, no assistance, no offer to remove the pile of dirty linen and unnecessary sheets. I asked for the manager; he refused to put me in touch. When checking out I asked the day clerk if he had heard of any problem, and heard a fabricated account laying the blame on us as guests for refusing assistance. The room itsel was a bad deal for the price, pretty grubby, a noisy airconditioner/ heater with a paltry view of a parking lot at eye level out of the one window. We would have taken it without comment, though, but for the atrocious treatment and prejudiced ethnic slurs that, we feel, are out of line. We complained to Travelodge, online travel website with its ''guarantee,'' and the local hotel manager. We asked for a refund and got a short letter of apology but no refund from the manager. Dont stay here!
The desk clerk lied and said that the hotel was ''full'' (even though it clearly was not) as the reason why the only ice machine was empty. The solitary ice machine does not work. The room and furnishings were badly worn, dirty, and smelly. Better than sleeping in the car, I suppose.
good place to stay. friendly staff. If you are visiting Columbus, this is far away from it. 45+ minute drive.
When we arrived, the desk attendent was dozing. The bathroom had a few worn spots. The mattress was kind of hard! The sheets had see through spots and the blanket had two holes in it.
I was a little afraid to stay here after seeing all the reviews. The exterior needs updated, but the room had new carpet, wallpaper and tile. It was clean and the staff was very friendly
cheap but not the nicest place
This hotel is an excellent choice for students requiring lodging near the IU campus. You will find accommodations that although not ritzy, are slightly superior to other hotels in this price range. I would not choose this hotel as a family vacation destination, but for a lone traveler on a budget, it is a sensible choice.
Don't come here if you're looking for a luxury villa, but for a budget motel, it's a perfectly decent place. It's only about 5 minutes to the IU campus. Rooms have new carpet and paint, front desk staff were college kids and very friendly. Only problem was the smell coming from smoking rooms and some strong Indian cooking going on somewhere (I guess the housekeeping lives in the hotel). Overall, a great value.
attractive price. hotel was fine for one night. towels were dirty. room had a bizzare odor. shower had little to no water pressure. rest of the room was pretty clean.
It isn't the Ritz-Carlton (Duh!), but it's close to IU and a good sleep for the price. Staff very friendly; bed comfy; coffeemaker worked.
Not sure what hotel these other reviewers stayed at, or maybe major improvements have been made only recently. My room was very clean and it appeared as if it had recently had new carpet and fresh paint.I would stay here again, because there are the most competitive for the price, and ...it being cheap, i wasn't even expecting something this nice.
This facility is in need of a makeover, but poor cleaning is the major issue. I found mold in the shower, and the shower floor is largely black.
A low price older motel. Excellent front-desk staff. Rooms quiet and shower pressure wonderful. Double beds very comfortable. King beds horrible. Rooms upstairs reek. No locks on hallway doors - anyone can come in anytime. Carpet needs replacing throughout hotel especially upstairs.
