The hotel had everything we needed for our trip to Washington DC. We didn't spend a whole lot of time there, because we only had three days, so most of our time was 'out and about.' The other reviewers are correct about the area. There all the restaurants in the area require driving, but aren't particularly far. I wouldn't call the area around the hotel necessarily 'dangerous,' but a lot of the vendors who work in local stores all do their business behind bulletproof glass. However, if all you did was go between the hotel and the train station, you'd never notice. The shuttle for the hotel to the train station ran just as expected. They didn't have a specific pick-up time, though, so you have to call the front desk, and they will send a driver, or divert the driver back to the station. They picked us up at an 'off-time' also, which was nice (make sure you tip your drivers.) The continental breakfast had a nice selection, and was good. The room was very clean, and the maid service was prompt and efficient; so no complaints there. WiFI was operational the whole time. Apparently there was a herd of elephants staying in the room above us, but that isn't the hotel's fault. Overall we had a good experience.
There was another review of this location that said it was in the ghetto. That review was correct. There is no place around this hotel to eat. There were ants in our room. The bed was hard as a rock. The breakfast area was nasty. The tables were always sticky. And last, but not least, on our last night there over 25 cars were broken in to in the area. By broken in to I mean the windows smashed in and items taken from people's car. Many of the cars broken into were located at the front of the hotel near the entrance. And yes, security was on site.
Everything was great. People were soo friendly and made us feel very welcome and willing to help with anything
Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a lack of luggage trolleys. The room had no telephone service, we complained and were told it would be fixed but no one came. There were five of us, we were given four towel sets and asked for an extra one. this was provided the first night not not after this. The bathroom was atrocious with mold on the walls over the bathtub, the towels and the door. We will not be staying here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.
The staff was very friendly. They were very good about picking up from the metro station even after usual hours.
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was for the money we paid. The shuttle to the Metro was very convenient and we were even able to walk to the station a few times because it is so close. The staff were all very helpful. The breakfast was well done every morning. We would definitely stay here again and have recommended to others.
The staff were all very courteous and ready to help. The shuttle service to the Metro station was a nice perk. The distance from Washington was enough to get away from heavy traffic but close enough to allow for convenient daily trips to the city. A fridge and microwave in the room allowed us to accommodate specific dietary needs not supplied with the included breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. Business center with internet access was handy to check out sightseeing options.
We stayed here four nights. The room was large, comfortable, very clean and bright. Staff could not do enough for you. Very convenient to Metro for travel into DC. If you do not want to walk to the metro station, the hotel has a shuttle. The walk, however, is short and felt safe. We would stay here again without hesitation.
The hotel was very clean and nice. Staff was friendly and welcomed you every time we entered the hotel. The breakfast was hot and fresh daily. Housekeeping kept the rooms clean and fresh towels daily. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this hotel. Only negative thing to say is the area in which the hotel is located is not the highest quality. I would not recommend venturing out alone in this area. Just be cautious when not in the hotel.
The hotel was about a 20 minute metro ride from downtown DC and was walkable from the Branch Ave metro stop. A shuttle ran between the hotel and the metro stop every half hour within their specified time, but we got home late a few nights and had to walk. It felt like a safe area so it was no big deal. If you want a shuttle ride from the metro when you arrive, I would recommend contacting the hotel to get their phone number so that you can call to have the shuttle come get you. Loved the fresh choc chip cookies every night. Breakfast was decent and there were hot choices in addition to the normal continental breakfast options. Room was large and clean. All rooms have microwave and fridge which was nice. Would stay there again if coming back to DC.
This was a wonderful stay! It was clean and secure, staff was wonderful, breakfast was great! Building was in great shape. Not far from anywhere! Took the Hotel Van to different places and staff was very helpful. The only complaint is the internet service, it is extremely SLOW. We even tried the Business Room and it still was slower than Molasses in January! So if you what fast internet they don't have it, but everything else was great!
I stayed there for one night. I really liked it. I would recommend to a friend. It doesn't have a lot of amenities like a pool, but it is in a great location, and a great to stay over if you don't want to stay in D.C. And the one thing that I love about it is that it is very close to the train station so you don't have to have a vehicle to get there. They provide a shuttle to and from the Branch Ave. Station.
The hotel was clean, the free breakfast was excellent! The room was very accomodating for my family of 4. It was great to have a mini refridgerator in the room. The price was very affordable. We were very pleased with our stay here.
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. It was just good enough. We were in town for The Rally to Restore Sanity so we didn't want to worry about parking in the city. This hotel worked out well. The area is safe, walking distance to the metro, free parking at the hotel. Rooms were pretty clean, there was shuttle service to/from the metro but it sometimes took a while (don't think it was well coordinated) and we ended up walking a few times. The free breakfast was edible but thats about it. There are no dining options near by so pack your GPS. Over all-- If you want a fancy joint keep looking. If you want good value, clean rooms, and a safe and convenient area then by all means, stay here!
Our room had AC issues. Seemed like they just sent someone up to check on it to make us happy but the guy had no idea on what to do for an AC. He also happened to be the shuttle driver and man, that guy was squealing the tires with his driving. Room was priced pretty good since the rest of the hotels in the area were overpriced. Neighborhood was the greatest but didnt have any problems.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel due to adequate price and location. We were visiting D.C. and this hotel is near a metro station going into D.C.- that is a MUST if you are visiting D.C.. In it's advertisement the hotel claims to have a shuttle that picks up every half hour. This is not so. They do drop off to the metro from 9 am-12 pm and then pick up from 4 pm to 9pm. Most people stay in D.C. for the appropriate amount of time that the drop off and pick up is not an issue. My husband and I had planned to spend one morning in D.C. and then head to Georgetown in the afternoon- we would have to get back to our car at the hotel to get to Georgetown. This was at 2 in the afternoon and we were under the assumption that the hotel picked up on every half hour...we ended up having to take a cab back. Also one time after 4 we waited 45 minutes for a shuttle to come get us- we had called the hotel to let them know we were at the station and needed a shuttle. They forgot about us. We had to call 2 more times before they came. Beyond that it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is clean, quiet and the continental breakfast is good. If you are taking kids and having a pool to cool off in after a long hot day of touring D.C. is essential then don't stay here- there is no pool. There is also no restaurants around this area.
This place is in the middle of the ghetto. We thought we were getting a good deal but now I know why the price is so low....because you might get stabbed in the parking lot. The front desk said she couldnt give refunds (of course not). On vacation you should be care free and not have to worry about your car being broken into in the middle of the night (or middle of the day). The AC was kinda weak so we slept without blankets all night. Theres no safe in the room, and believe me you really want one with this staff. We had to leave the do not disturb card in the door all week so that the maids wouldnt steal my stuff. This is no joke this place could be nice and has no place in the ghetto but thats where it is, on the corner of Drive By Ave and Drug Deal Dr. DONT STAY HERE!!! Pay a little more for something in DC.
One young girl at the front desk not in a hurry to check us in. When we asked about the internet she said our room had free internet. Nothing in the room about how to connect and when called front desk she said You have to call this 800 number... There is no safe in the room and we def. wish we had one. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Sleeper sofa was horribly uncomfortable. Every step above us was loud. There is nothing in the area as far as food or even a wal-mart, if you can believe that. The room was clean and the beds were clean. The internet worked after we called and put on hold for awhile, but was pretty slow. Fitness room is some mirrors and a couple of cardio machines, When I picked the hotel it was If I had known this is what I was getting for that price I would spend more and get a room I could really enjoy for 3 nights! Plus I will not stay anywhere near the DC area again! Take a wrong turn on the east side of town and you'll wish you had blacked out windows...
I chose this hotel based on its proximity to the DC metro rail system and on the fact that they advertised a shuttle to the nearby metro station. What their advertising did not say was that this shuttle runs very limited hours. Additionally, when I was there, there was a sign stating the hours that the shuttle runs on Sunday. It sat right on top of the counter at check-in. So, on Sunday when I went down to get a ride on the shuttle, the personnel working the desk told me it didn't run on Sunday. I pointed out to them the sign that they had posted on the counter. They took me after I had pointed this out to them, but this was an ongoing theme throughout my stay there. As another example of poor service, while they have a washer/dryer available, they require quarters, and the hotel had neither a change machine or change available at the front desk. You had to walk a quarter mile to a nearby gas station for change (in the rain).
Although we stopped by to tell them that we would be back to take our room at 6:00, it wasn't ready. In fact, they had not even started working on it. After waiting at the front desk for 20 minutes, we were told our room was ready. When we got there there were two maids in the bathroom. During the 20 minutes we were at breakfast, the ran out of coffee, milk and waffle batter. It seems they never replenish and of the breakfast items until someone complains. We never did get the milk. The room was noisy. The clock radio was broken. No attention to detail. We will not stay there again.
