We were told 3 days before our trip that there was no vehicle in the size that we needed available. We appreciated their honesty. We received a call the next day that a van became available but someone had smoked in the van and they were trying to air it out for us. The day we picked up our rental, another van had become available, which we were glad to see. However, someone had also smoked in that van too. All the seats were covered in a layer of cigarette ash. We shared with the staff that the new car smelled like smoke and was dirty. They offered to wipe down the seats, but we knew that the smell would not just evaporate with wiping down the seats. We took the van to the car wash and had to pay to have it cleaned. Even the manager at the car wash was surprised because he knows we are not smokers and couldn't believe the smell. We were taking our parents, who are older and more sensitive, on this trip. We had to purchase air fresheners to try and cover up the smell. Our whole trip we had to drive with the heat on full blast (February trip) and the windows open. Our clothes, suitcases, even food tasted like smoke from being in that car. We usually have had great experiences with Enterprise but were super disappointed by this last one.10.0 Wonderful

The time the vehicle had to be picked up and dropped off could've been better for me. The hours of operation mattered because I had to pick up the vehicle in enough time to reach my destination and return on time.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
I got a working car to use while the weather is in the single digits and while my car is in the shop.Cons:
The manager David at the tiny, sketchy Avis location first blamed and disrespected me for “canceling” my reservation multiple times - I booked through the Kayak app and the guy wouldn’t let it go. Then, although I had my screen pulled up but not a print out, he wouldn’t honor the daily rate of 39.99. Then he told me he didn’t have the car I reserved so he was “forced” to upgrade me thus (apparently) rendering useless the insurance I purchased via Kayak/Hotwire. David then put my NEW contract on the screen for a total reservation time of 6 days when I had only reserved three, and the total was $572.00!!! I asked him to fix it and he refused saying he had already authorized my card and “everything would work out” if I brought the car back “early,” even though “early” in this case was the initially agreed upon rental period. He told me that the only contract he’d be writing for me was the one on the screen. I had him write on the digital copy that the contract was incorrect before I signed. I got my car, and the next day he CALLED me to tell me there were more charges being put on my bill and he just “didn’t want me to be surprised”. I was FURIOUS. I would have returned the car that minute if I had been able to. In all, I had to fight with this guy over every charge and I still wound up paying nearly $300 for my 3 day rental. I wanted to have a great experience booking through Kayak, but I got the WORST rental experience of my life.10.0 Wonderful

Upon dropping off car- I made sure that it was returned with the same amount of gas as when it was picked up. However, upon receiving my receipt via email- I was charged $25 additional dollars for returning it supposedly with less gas.9.6 Wonderful
