I came to the Hertz location as stipulated in advance. They told me the car would be ready in two hours. I left and came back in two hours. Then, they told me the car doesn’t exist and that I’d have to go to the Pelham office, a 30 minute drive away. I had to pay for an Uber to get there. They then didn’t care about the situation. Completely unacceptable to make a booking and then not have the car at the agrees upon time. No attempt was made to contact me to tell me there was no care despite my existing reservation.

Upon arrival I was told no cars were available I ended up taking a 14 hour bus and cost me an additional 250 dollars because of this I have been a kayak user for years and I will not use in future because it’s not a reliable source

The customer service lady was very nice, professional with a beautiful personality that made me appreciate doing business with Hertz. I was at the wrong pick up location and she took care of getting me a car where I was. She was great. I wish I got her name.

Like??? Nothing!!! They didn't have the van I ordered. Were absolutely no help in trying to resolve the issue. Gave me an 800 number to talk to a robo-machine! Ordered this van a month ahead of time and they had absolutely nothing to say but they "didn't have the vehicle". I will never ore another rental vehicle through Hertz.

They scheduled me at 1 certain location for pickup at 12:00 on Saturday. We get there to pickup the car, and they were closed. We spend 30 minutes on the phone trying to reserve for another location. We ended up having to drive 20 minutes away to another location at the airport. Not only was this location going to charge me $200 MORE to rent a car, but the associate I had trying to “help” me was the rudest person I’ve encountered in a long time. He acted like he was mad that I walked into his place of work. He huffed and puffed everytime I had a question. When I asked why it was going to be $284 instead of the original $78 the other location was going to charge me, he said “because it is.” by the end of it I told him thank you but I would just go find another place to rent a car. He said “that would be great. Bye.” Horrible experience. 100000000% do NOT recommend this company.

I called ahead of time to confirm my reservation and was told my SUV would be ready at my scheduled reservation time. When I arrived the car hadn’t been cleaned at all. I received a different car with a half empty gas tank. I was charged for an SUV rental even though I was not given an suv. Staff at the Birmingham Avis location was disorganized and less than friendly. My final bill was $120 more than the price I agreed to at reservation time. The Dulles Avis location was very professional and took care of the issue for me. It still made the drop off process long and inconvenient. I will never rent from the Birmingham Avis again. Don’t let the low prices fool you. There are much better options!

Great vehicle, and friendly staff. One note about BHM airport- there’s no real “return” for cars- you just pull into the garage and park the vehicle in an Avis space, and go to the booth to turn in the keys,

We made a reservation for a truck & made the rental request a week in advance. When we got there to pick up the vehicle, no trucks. They offered us a small SUV which would not fulfill our needs. They gave us no other options. If I had wanted a small SUV, I would have requested that from the options menu.

Pros:

I liked the choice of vehicle (Jeep). The 2016 has some great features, once we were able to explore them. The price quoted was what I paid. It proved to be a very smooth ride for the most part. However, if you have longer legs, the back seat is not for you.

Cons:

I had to go to two different locations to rent a vehicle because I was using a debit card. . . :( The second location was very helpful. The vehicle seem to slip out of gear at times but overall great ride. The wrong size back shield was given, so there was no way to cover items in the vehicle.
