The location and history of the hotel is great! The ability to get to the basketball game from the hotel was wonderful although they do not offer transportation back after 10 pm.
The entrance to the hotel is a death trap. It fills with water and becomes extremely slick. This is Iowa we have lots of snow and ice in the winter so it would be wise to just fix it with a heated or drained entrance. This place is upgrading to Radisson.
Poor staffing. The morning of my departure there was no one in the restaurant and no one at the front desk. Bizarre.
The location of this hotel is perfect! The mall was only minutes away and even with a lot of traffic and busy streets the hotel was calm and if you didn't know any better you would think you were hidden away in a remote area.
We had to change rooms because of a bad odor near the toilet
Put me in a smoking room even though I specifically called and asked to be non-smoking. Refused to accommodate us by moving us to a non smoking room
Courteous service, clean room, excellent location.
Convenient location and nice amenities with the pool, jacuzzi and health club
Layout was a little confusing
Easy to find with good parking. Clean & quiet with good customer service.
Surprised that there was no breakfast included.
It was quiet.
My refrigerator in the room didn't work and when I told the front desk, they didn't seem to care. It looked like some construction was going on and it needs it as it looks disheveled from the outside and needs updating inside.
The room was really nice, clean, and lots of room.
The air conditioner didn't cool the room very good. The fan didn't work right..but it was cooler out so it was ok for us.
Location pool hot tub
Location and cleanliness and quality were as expected
Toilet roll dispenser was broken
No breakfast available
Three star hotel which is very run doWn
poor room, loose electrics, smelly a/c
We got two smoking rooms. Gross.
The rooms were nice and equivalent to a 3 star rating.
I had to deal with office confusion leading to a 35 minute check in which ended up leading to me getting charged twice. Also the hallways smell like a very old stale ash tray. The castle in the room was sticky if you walked barefoot. Overall not enjoyable
This Holiday Inn far exceeded our expectations. The room was quite large and very clean, with numerous amenities. The restaurant was excellent.
Newer rooms, close to Interstate & restaurants.
Nowhere to eat on site (adjacent restaurant closed.
It was good value for what we paid.
It wasn't as nice as many hotels with a lower star rating.
Rooms were old, noise carried right through the walls, bathroom was tiny,
Great location for our trip.
Location was great for the events we were attending; straight shot to parts of the University.
The room itself was in good shape. However, we found a beer bottle cap on the floor, found a half eaten ice cream bar in the freezer, and the room smelled when it became warmer.
The room was perfect. The bed/ bedding was soooo comfortable.
A visiting lacrosse team was staying at the same hotel so It was loud way into the morning hours. Even after we complained.
Staff was friendly.
Room not clean. Tub dirty. The bathroom was small. It had a Very strange layout. I was on third floor--ground level Lots of twists and bends in halls. I went wrong way a couple times. I' was very disappointed.
Great staff and location. Clean and comfortable.
Paper thin walls and party folks next door.
The staff was helpful with towels when our room was not serviced.
The reason I gave 2 stars was that we stayed 2 nights and our room was never serviced. We did not have the do not disturb sign on the door. We returned after 10 pm and it seemed they just bypassed our room.
Good first impression.
Room was on lower level without elevator service. Difficult to transport luggage from car.
Big beds, clean room
Internet connections were poor. Bath tub drained slowly. Asked for help, but corrections did not happen.
The room was good sized
Bath rooms were gross! Pool was tiny and out dated, drinking fountain was clogged. Very noisy, no breakfast included.
Location was great
People were smoking in their hotel rooms
location was excellent. Right off the highway and close to gas stations and restaurants
It REEKED of smoke. They told the three people in front of us that their rooms were not ready, then told us 'oh, you booked a different way, your room is in the back and it ready'. It was the worst smelling hotel room I had been in.
access to interstate 80
It should have some sort of breakfast available to guests
Location was good for my needs
That is was close to interstate.
Was a confusing maze. 3rd floor room was up 1 floor from ground level. Pool was a hassle to find. There were 2 wedding parties going on all night, which was not something I expected.
The price was fitting for the area and actually one of the better options.
When I arrived at the hotel to check-in I waited 10 minutes for someone to help me. Then when I went to check-out there wasn't anyone at the desk either.
It didn't collapse.
No hot water for the shower. No one at check-out even asked how my stay was. Unprofessional. Worn. This is NOT a three star hotel.
Not sure after the terrible experience.
Power outage - no backup generator. Room was not cleaned for 2 days. Many requests, cleaned at 7:00 p.m. broken bulb in lamp, out-of-service elevator Sun.p.m. dripping condensation causing puddles on the commode, endless humidity. so many inconveniences.
The room furnishings and beds were well maintained, and common areas were as advertised.
The corner of the room (~5 feet in each direction) was flooded. The staff unfortunately felt the resolution to this was to provide towels to put on the floor for both nights of our stay, which they brought to our room around 2 am.
It was so musty that I had to get air freshners for the room. The hotel needs to be torn down or completely remodeled. The exercise room and equipment was also in bad shape. We will not stay here again.
My room had many maintenance issues: vanity sink drained very poorly, loud refrigerator, deadbolt on door to adjacent room didn't latch properly, shower temperature would not adjust, insufficient outlets, etc
Carpet shampooed and still wet. Room and hallways damp and musty. Cable TV did not work.
The hotel staff gave us the other room when we asked to.
VERY DISAPPOINTING - PARTY HOTEL! Did get any chance to go to the pool. No Hair Conditioner Provided! There is only one bootle of shampoo for 3 of us. Terrible cigarette smell everywhere.
Since the hotel was full, we got bumped to a smoking room which made for a long night, headache, and smokey-smelling clothes. Not appreciated at all.
Bathroom; so much static that even the sheets sparked (and I live in the Midwest, so am used to what static should be like and this was WAY MORE THAN I'VE EVER SEEN); toilet needed to be fixed when we got there; narrow staircase to get to public spaces
The heat did not work in room. Very dirty. Needs BIG upgrade. Not to the standard of Holiday Inn
The coffee maker did not work; water in the shower drained very slow. Only one staff was at the desk when we checked in, waited for a while. For a three star hotel, I would expect better service and the room would be functional. Very disappointed.
Really loud event going on all through the night, staff did not care and front desk never answers the phone.
I had an issue with seeing mold on the ceiling of the shower. I spoke with the clerk at the front desk the next morning, and she said that she would have the manager call me. I am not happy because no one has ever called me regarding this problem.
IT WAS DIRECTLY OFF I-80 AND EASY TO GET TO
TO BEGIN WITH, OUR KEYS DIDN'T WORK. GUY AHEAD OF US WAS ON HIS THIRD ATTEMPT. NO TOWELS AT POOL. WE HAD NO INTERNET. DESK WAS CONTACTED AND WE WERE TOLD TOO MANY PEOPLE WERE USING IT. I TRIED FOR 90 MINUTES TO CONNECT AND FINALLY WENT TO SLEEP.
Old, bad air quality, smelled musty and windows were PERMANENTLY locked so we could not open them, carpet felt moist and was bubbling up, outdated for a 3 star, large gap under door allowing hallway noise in.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I paid a rather median price, expecting the average small and sparsely furnished room. Instead, I had a very large room which was very nicely furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The only drawback was that it is very large, so I had to carry my luggage down a rather long hallway. The location was very convenient, they had a large parking lot, and there is an attached restaurant. Overall, this was a great value and I would definately stay there again.
Hotel accommodations were fine with the exception of the hot tub in the swimming arear was under repair. Not especially kid friendly, no fridge in room.
It was a long walk to the room - it is a long walk to all the rooms and exterior doors are not close to parking. Other reviews have stated this as well as pointed out that there is no service to take your bags to your room. When I told the front desk that the room was not the type that I had booked - I was told all the rooms were reserved for the night (this was 6pm) and that they would not change rooms. As a platinum member of Priority Club I was disappointed with the response. The front desk attendant did call their sister property and was able to find me a room there for $80 more than what I was paying. I decided against paying almost $200 for the night. Maybe I should have. After making the long walk back to the room I discovered that the room would not have passed a supervisors inspection for cleaning. The shower/tub was so dirty that I refused to take a shower. \nThe exterior entrance was supposed to require a key but this was not working. \nAfter this experience I would recommend to others that there are better lodging options close by (there are 8 other motels with in 3/4 of a mile).
Stayed at Holiday Inn, Coralville for 2 nights...good experience. Loved the happy hour (weekdays only?) with free beer/wine and chips/dips, etc. A few negatives: pool was small, our shower curtain and mat needed to be replaced. Otherwise, very quiet and convenient!
We stayed here for a family reunion. There were 2 other large groups in addition to ours and there was plenty of space for all. The pool is small and indoor - great for kids to expend some energy (rain or shine), but not great for enjoying a beautiful day by the pool.
