Pros:The cost and location were excellent for our trip. Also enjoyed the continental breakfast in the morning.
Cons:The heater didn’t work properly. We returned from our outing the room was 98 degrees even with the thermostats all the way down and the unit on low. We had to shut it off for the night to even sleep. Also the box spring cover was very dirty and needs serious cleaning under the beds. It would have been nice to be able to see the bar but they closed so early like 9:30 pm we kept missing it.
Cons:I had a glitch in my computer when I made my reservation so I called to confirm. The lady said "if you reserved online, you don't call me" and hung up. When I got there, there was a no smoking sign but the entire place reaked of cigarette smoke. It was dusty and dingy. The room door would not open or close without kicking it. The bed was so sunken in that you could see a crescent shape to it as soon as you walked in the room. I could have spent $50 on an air mattress for the floor and would have been more comfortable than in that room. The carpets were so dirty and stained that I was afraid to take my shoes off. The bathroom light was too dim to see enough to take a shower, which didn't matter because they gave you one small shampoo/conditioner combo bottle to share. One of the toilet paper rolls were empty and the cardboard was still on the holder. And there was supposedly free breakfast but no one told us this upon check in. I have lived in the area my whole life and Riverside Inn used to be a great place. Whoever took it over to turn it into a Red Roof really destroyed any sense of class that place had left. Such a shame.
Pros:the bar service and personnel, the continental breakfast, the morning cook, the roadway access, outside grounds had horseshoe pits plenty of tables and chairs and a pretty good view of the river
Cons:pool had algae, beds were hard as rocks with small compacted pillows [2 on each for 4 ppl], pool tables were taken over Saturday night with a tournament so no guest could use them, ice machine 2nd floor not usable, bathroom towels only 2 of each kind for 4 ppl on arrival had to go down and request more, lamp by beds had to be unplugged in order to be turned off, WiFi was sporadic when it did work and nvr exceeded 50% on any channel, air conditioner worked but was taped and pieced together fascia, nvr saw a spa, no hair dryer or microwave, CRT small TV on a huge 2 door armoire, grout between bathroom mirror and sink was dirty and nasty and nvr looked like it was cleaned,the hedges around pool were trimmed and clippings left there on sidewalk to pool
Pros:The staff was very helpful (we had a late check-in and spoke with the desk the next day), and the room was comfortable. The price was appropriate and it wasn't too far from Oswego.
Cons:The door was crooked in the frame so we couldn't bolt it closed. Half of the lights via switches did not work. When the staff cleaned the room and bathroom, they left a previous guest's soap in the shower. After I requested our room not be cleaned (we were only staying one more night) I spoke to both the front desk and the ladies in our hallway with carts, but the room was still cleaned (there were no do not disturb signs). This wouldn't have bothered me so much, except they once again did not clean the old soap (or now my soap) from the bathroom shower. Most notably, they didn't empty our bag of trash from the closet area, but they did throw out a zipper from my backpack which had fallen off, so I had to buy a new backpack at Walmart to pack my things before traveling home. That was extremely annoying.
Pros:The location on the river is nice.
Cons:Blankets were dirty. Key system was broken. Side door unlocked and broken. Ice machine second floor broken. Price was high.
