The Waldorf Astoria New York has been renowned for over a century as one of the world's grand hotels. As the ultimate destination for inspired culinary creations and attentive service, this midtown Manhattan luxury hotel is close to shopping, entertainment and business. Explore this New York City landmark, which is considered a prime example of Art Deco per...
The Waldorf-Astoria was everything I expected it to be -- old fashioned elegance with modern amenities and the most attentive staff, from the valets to the front desk to the concierge to the housekeepers in the hallways. Everyone was wonderful. The location was great -- a few short blocks from Rockefellor Center and St. Patrick's and Grand Central and Central Park. I've had family and friends recommend the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but I definitely preferred the location on Park Avenue -- bagels and coffee and slices of pizza and formal dining of all kinds all within a block or two on the east side. Just perfect.
The air conditioning could have been a little crisper. It felt like it wasn't taking all the humidity out of the air. (Our sheets felt damp. Cool, but damp.) Other than that, I loved every bit of our stay.
Old, dated hotel. Rooms are a bit dumpy. Staff is not friendly

Check-in/Check-out receptionists are extremely rude and unhelpful. I spoke with 2 receptionists before and after check-in/check-out and they were both dismissive to my questions refusing to answer simple questions like where can I find certain amenities. One of the female receptionists had the audacity to tell me to go online and look up amenities and services the hotel offers! What is the hotel hiring these clowns for, just to simply run your credit card and give you your room key. No skills in customer service and proper human interaction for that matter. I will not be staying at this hotel again if they continue to hire incompetent staff. This is unacceptable in the industry, especially for the location. The area and it's visitors are wealthy high class people, so to be treated with such low class service is s disgrace. I will be telling all of my business contacts to go elsewhere. Sorry, but instead of losing just 1 customer, you've now lost about 20 that I would've referred to you, but I will be making sure none of my close business contacts frequent your god-awful hotel because of your disgraceful receptionists.

It was The Best experience Ever!
I liked the freshly renovated look of the hotel room and the convenience of the parking. We weren't charged any additional fee for parking which was fantastic!
Some of the quality of the renovations wasn't as good as I would expect, but mostly it was good.

Gym is really well equipped, lots of cardio, strength as well as swiss balls, bosu, mats, spri etc. and it's on the park so I would go for a run in the park then stretch and workout in the gym each am.
Everything was fine. Not the newest, but clean and functional.
Location Room size Decor and friendly feel of hotel
The bathroom needed some work.. Toilet was loose to the floor, shower curtain was dirty and needed replacing. Cabinets and bathroom fixtures needed upgrades.

Really great gym. Very friendly staff. The room was actually bigger than most NYC rooms I've stayed in.
$2 per bag to hold our bags. The drinks at the bar are atrociously overpriced so we just walked away after looking at the menu.
I love how modern and stylish the hotel's decor is! The lobby is really upbeat and fun. Staff seems friendly. Room was small (standard queen) but still nice and fresh.
I don't like how they charge you to store your bag. I travel a lot and have never seen this policy before. We only had 1 bag so it was $2 but it was the principal. The hotel was not sold out so we politely called down to the front desk to see if we could be upgraded to a room with a king bed since I mistakenly booked a queen bed and they told me no unless I paid the $50 upgrade fee. It was my fault for overlooking the size of the bed when booking but still that would have made a great impression on your guests instead of me leaving with the impression of them being more concerned with making money than trying to make the guests' stay as comfortable as possible.

Location, location, location. The staff was excellent.
The hotel was beautiful & the service was excellent. Very spacious room.
We ate breakfast in the cafeteria which was lovely. My first visit to NYC since I was a child, so I wasn't sure what to expect of prices. We paid over $50 for our breakfast, which I think was outrageous.
