Customer service at the RDU terminal was excellent. The car was clean and it felt like an upgrade from what I booked, as it was quite new (low mileage) and was very comfortable. I needed to pick it up early, which was accommodated quite graciously. I had a 900 mile drive in this vehicle with no issues.Reviewed May 9 2024

I opted to refill the gas tank myself, instead of paying for their gas service. I filled the tank less than a mile from drop-off. I even topped it up. After drop-off I received a bill for TWO GALLONS of gas that they claimed they put into the vehicle. There is no way they fit that much gas into that car. Had I not been paying attention, I would've been ripped off. Double check your final email receipt. You may not get it for a day or two.Reviewed Apr 8 2024

Firstly, Picking the car up was inconvenient. The business card i tried to use could not be used because the chip could not be read. I was told that would be the only way that they could use a card (no swiping the card or even manually entering. So, I used my personal card, while exclaiming my dissatisfaction. Then, first car I picked was absolutely filthy and moved to another car that was less dirty. I went about my way and drove to Ft. Liberty for work and then returned the car a few days later. The return process was much better at least. When I received my receipt, the final charges do not seem in line with what was presented on Kayak, and I asked for a follow up email or phone call to see if I could speak with someone about the matter and still haven't been contacted.Reviewed Mar 25 2024

The drop off location should not be used as a selectable location. No one was in the office, no drop off box is present, and when I called to change the location to a safe Hertz location 6 miles down the road, I was charged an extra fee out of my control.Reviewed Nov 6 2022

The option of picking a car of my choice from a bunch of cars in the same class was nice.. The first car we chose the seatbelt lightg would not go out.. Pciked a second and half way through the trip our car started warning us that the keyless fob was at ero battery and be had better do something soon. We spent a couple of hours running down the necessary battery and figuring our how to pry open the case to change the bttery so that we didnt get locked out of our car while attending a wedding and festivities. Other than that the NC RDU Hertz experience was good.Reviewed Oct 19 2021

Cons:The attendant left us at the airport in the parking lot of the rental car location because we didn't arrive within 30 minutes of our plane landing. We got there 10 minutes late according to your attendant. Another shuttle had to drive us to the Hertz location because the Hertz shuttle never came to pick us up. Will never use Hertz again and will tell anyone I ever run into to never use Hertz. Worst customer service experience. If it weren't for a nice lady from another car rental company, we would have had to walk back to the terminal with all of our luggage.Reviewed Apr 5 2021

Cons:Car stank of smoke and had clearly not been cleaned (and I’m guessing not sanitised either). Will never rent from Hertz againReviewed Mar 10 2021

almost double charged for insuranceCons:after checking in to the car the desk lady tried to charge me 200 dollars for insurance. i had previously bought insurance on kayak. the desk lady said that they cannot see third party insurances. good thing i was paying attention after flying all day. also i forgot to fill the gas before drop off and they changed me 50 dollars for 1/4 tank of gas. that was my own fault but still not a pleasant experience.Reviewed May 5 2017

Pros:Shuttle there when I walked out, drove to the rental car office, checked in for my car, out in car within 15 minutes! Superior service and the best was choosing my own car from a row of 10 vehicles. Another awesome add on: Maps being provided on shuttle so, you could have handy to quickly glance while traveling.Cons:The entire process was seamless - great job, Hertz!Reviewed May 3 2017

Pros:It was nice being able to pick the car. However, there were only three cars available.Cons:When I picked up the car, the tire pressure light was lit. I checked the air in all tires, since I didn't know which tire it was! The next day, we had a flat! No spare! There was an inflation kit, but it works with the lighter/power port which was non functional! They were going to charge me over $80 for roadside assistance. Luckily, I have AAA. The tire was not able to be fixed, so I had to buy a tire! However, the manager of the Hertz did refund that cost.Reviewed May 1 2017
