The Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa is a boutique hotel in downtown Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. It’s an adult hotel that has a full service spa on-site. The hotel was built in 1914 and is included on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel has kept that old school charm but added some modern amenities for a comfortable combination of old meets new.

The hotel only has 18 rooms and each is decorated in its own unique way. Only children 16 years of age and older staying with parents are permitted at The Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa. It’s considered an adults only hotel. The rooms have air conditioning, free WiFi, ceiling fans, and most have TVs with cable channels. Guests staying at this hotel will have the added security of the outer doors being locked after 11 p.m. It can still be accessed by those who have room keys, however.

On the ground floor level of The Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa is The Portneuf Grille & Lounge. This is an award-winning restaurant that has been featured in different publications. The cuisine is inspired by the local area and region of the country. There are steaks and seafood, as well as vegan choices and gluten-free. Breakfast can be chosen from Café & A’more in the lobby. Guests who want to get out and explore a little more will find there are also some good choices around town.

The spa at the hotel has many treatments that can be booked for a very relaxing day. There are, of course, the Hot Mineral Springs for guests to visit. The Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa has its own indoor soaking rooms with hot mineral water flowing all the time. The area is also home to some great fishing. For those looking to get out a little further from the hotel, Jackson Hole, Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park aren’t far away.

For adults looking for a quiet, rejuvenating place to get away to, The Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa is a great place for doing that. The hotel has a lot of history and character, and the area is beautiful with plenty of things to see and do.

Pros (+) The staff was very friendly and welcoming
Cons (-) Hot pools were run down. Skip them and go to the public ones up the street. Paid $143 for one night so, disappointing to say the least

Pros (+) Restaurant is gourmet, free breakfast alone was worth the room rate. Friendly staff, we made good use of the outdoor hot spring, loved the town/location. Overall pretty, historic building.
Cons (-) It's a boutique historic hotel. If you're expecting brand new and sterile this isn't the place for you. That said, the deck was in pretty tough shape and the indoor pool rooms need some cleaning/tile/Sheetrock work. We loved the outdoor tub but didn't want to go in the indoor pools. A little paint and caulk would go a long way

Cons (-) The online does state the rate was for a single room with a shared bathroom. Although not a big deal, this was found out at check in. The mineral hot baths were less than desirable.
