The manager was understanding and friendly.

Cons:

I booked 3 days prior for a 12:00 pm pick-up, when we arrived at pickup time they didn’t have a car ready for us. They said they had called the night before to let us know they didn’t have a car available but we never recieved a call. Instead of giving us a car they had outside in the lot they told us to call back in three hours to see if someone had dropped one off. When we called they did have one available and it was supposedly an upgrade. They have us a Ford Focus. Yeah what an upgrade. Wont be doing business here again.

liked the fact it was actually a Ford Escape we got and not something else in that category. Also, service was quick and easy for renting and returning. They were also opened on Sunday. That"s a plus.

i made the reservation, a few minutes before the time to pick the car up, they called me saying that they did not have the car that i reserved, (need it a pick up truck) they did know when it will arrive, i asked if any other agency in the area will have it, they just said, "here is the number, give them a call" when i reply that why they didnt call for me and i just go pick it up, they say that nothing was available, when i asked if nothing was available, why does it show in the system, no answer. so they say that they will call me when the car arrived, nothing, they did not bother to call at all, very bad experience, specially since it was for business the reason of my rental, will definitively not recommend that place

There wasn't a car for us, the computer system was down, they wanted 200 extra dollars for the rental. They wouldn't take my credit card because I didn't live in the city. For 3 days I tried to get it worked out then I get to the rental place to pick up the car they confirmed for me, and they wanted almost 500 dollars for the car.... I didn't get the car and I stuck for my boyfriend's vacation. This was a horrible awful experience. Would not recommend it to anyone.

I got a free upgrade because they didn't have the car I reserved.

Cons:

The car was not ready at my reservation time thus delaying my departure. It only had a third of tank of gas so I was further delayed taking it to a gas station. I declined insurance coverage, which they noted on the contract and I initialed on the waiver. They charged me anyway. I missed it when I checked out, but called back that day and they had already, convieniently, lost the paperwork! They promised to call me back, but never did. Incompetent or dishonest? Whichever it is, this is not the place you want to rent a car.

Highly disappointed with this company, this company decides that they are above the federal law and will not accept cash as occurrency. And you're only option is to follow whatever they want otherwise you cannot take a car and all of your holiday will be ruined.

The only negative was the windshield wipers. The right side one was, the rubber was falling offf and the left one left a streak in my field of view. Bur overall, it was a great experience.

The night before they were going to take my credit (chime credit not bank) . My son was stuck in Florida with his four year old. They wouldn’t rent it me, my. Ex husband went with exact same kind of card. And they rented go figure!

Zero customer service through dollar and kayak both. Basically got screwed out of my rental. So I paid for nothing. Crazy this was my third rental in two weeks through kayak and have many more to rent but will never use your services again

Until the rental car industry drastically shortens the time from the time one walks up to the rental counter until pickup of the vehicle, I for one will not be happy with the pickup procedure. The return was quick and excellent. I was not aware of understood the breakdown of the final bill.

I prepaid but was forced to buy standard liability insurance despite me telling them I have my own insurance and declining it. The lady said it is mandatory in Texas. Came to know that was a lie. Also I booked with Visa credit card and it offers same,

This is one of the worst car rental experiences I’ve had. Kayak is terrible to get to. In spite of all the push ads I’ve received from them they have not responded and customer service telephone numbers give out wrong information and Europcar refuses to attend to my rental agreement changes stating that I’ve booked a 3rd party such as Kayak. So you guys do not add value. You just make life more difficult for car renters

Terrible experience, I arrived 30 mins late because of a flight delay. I attempted to contact Europcar several times with no answer. Upon arrival I was told “we gave your car away because we didn’t think you were coming”.

The lobby where the Thrifty desk is located is crazy loud. I could barely hear the representative when I called the location directly. It completely put me off, but I stuck with it. I had no problem with the car or staff. The walk to the lot for picking up the car is a bit of a pain but I'm not sure how they could work around that since the office is right at the dock. Overall a good experience.

Rental car level was wrong when we picked up, then they lied about the coverage and he added more than asked for. We went to pick up the car and the lady outside then said we have an electric car, but we had a large SUV. Made me prove it in an email after the guy inside said we had a small SUV. It was a joke from start to finish.

I loved the car loved the easy pick up and return of the rental car. The airport made it very self explanatory to get the car back with white letters on the road to direct you back to the rental car return. Made me smile. I had to extend my rental due to not finishing the work I came down for and the company made it very easy to extend.

Payless has great customer service for the situation we were out in. The insurance prices are crazy but at the end of the day it wasn’t Payless fault. This is a country requirement that we did understand prior to booking. The pick up was easy and Luis was great!! Drop off was simple as well and super friendly. Car was cleaned when we picked up and that was appreciated.

The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
