As the oldest running hotel in the most storied metropolis in the world dating back to as early as 1805, with it's 100 guest rooms Sohotel has an undoubtedly rich and varied history located in the heart of Downtown New York City.
Good quality rooms, pleasant staff, and excellent location.
It was fairly easy to access from the subway and was right in the trendy side of the city - near Soho and Little Italy which was perfect for finding little boutiques or cafe's that can make decent coffee!
The steep staircase didn't make it luggage friendly!
Location is OK, considered a safe area and near to the subway. There is a air conditioner in the room and with private bathroom, which is hard to get for that kind of price in Manhattan.
There is no elevator for a 4-5 storeys hotel!!! I dragged my 20kg luggage to the reception on second floor, then to my room on 4th floor. If you are a backpacker where you carry everything on your back, I guess its fine.
