Payless has great customer service for the situation we were out in. The insurance prices are crazy but at the end of the day it wasn’t Payless fault. This is a country requirement that we did understand prior to booking. The pick up was easy and Luis was great!! Drop off was simple as well and super friendly. Car was cleaned when we picked up and that was appreciated.

The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..

I loved the car loved the easy pick up and return of the rental car. The airport made it very self explanatory to get the car back with white letters on the road to direct you back to the rental car return. Made me smile. I had to extend my rental due to not finishing the work I came down for and the company made it very easy to extend.

I left my purse somewhere between the rental car return and the train so dashed back to trace my steps and met the nicest enterprise employee ever who quickly took me to the car to check, called his manager and then the manager called the train folks. Happy ending in that my purse was returned and we were able to catch our scheduled flight! It started with two very conscientious Enterprise employees. I failed to get their names but am sending them a high five!

My car broke down in Wilmington, Delaware and I had to wait over an hour for a tow truck. The agent on the phone couldn't find any location for me to get a replacement. I called back and got a different agent who was able to get me a replacement at Philadelphia International Airport which required me to take a $60 uber.

Alamo did not allow me to get a car because they won’t take anything but credit card bookings. This should have been made clear at the offset. We spent money, time and resources to get to Newark to be disappointed. Missed our connections afterwards and everything that was planned after had to be cancelled. Super disappointing.

The drop off was great. Service in Atlanta was very fast and contactless. The rental hold money was returned quickly following drop off. The car ran fine.

Cons:

The car was not very clean either inside or outside upon pickup. The car was not available at the pick up time and I had to wait about 45 minutes to an hour for a vehicle to arrive that I could use. The person checking me in was not forthcoming about the amount Alamo was going to charge my card which caused unnecessary confusion during pickup. I have used Alamo before and did not have any problems when renting in other states so my family will likely rent from them again in the future. Maybe it was the ERW airport having an off day.

My agreement was for $405.53, my receipt said $405.53 but my credit card was charged 605.53. This is unacceptable, what is that extra $200? There is no accounting for it in the receipt, I didn't check my credit card charge prior to checking out but instead used my printed receipt to check the charge. The charge hasn't officially cleared yet but I am concerned that this was a bait and switch by Avis.

I made the reservation and paid in advance, only to find when arriving at the counter that I’ve been placed on a Do not rent ban. The staff at the counter could not tell me why or help me any further and made me call a customer service line, where I waited for 20 minutes on hold. Since I was in a time crunch, I had to walk away and rent with a different service. Why did Hertz not flag my account when I paid for my reservation in advance, instead of wasting my time when I was already ready to pick up the car? Who knows. I still have not been able to get through to their specific phone line to figure out why my account has been blocked, after calling multiple times. I last rented with Hertz a few months ago, and never received any notice about my account being blocked.

Nothing. Hertz did not have an available car from me at the location my reservation time, even though I made AND PAID FOR the reservation in advance. The location not only ran out of cars hours before my reservation, but they did not think to even call me to tell me that they will not be able to honor my reservation. I had to commute almost two hours to reach the Hertz location. I only found out AFTER reaching the Hertz location that my reservation would not be honored. The location also refused to assist me with my dilemma. I am STILL actively trying to get my money back for a service they refused to provide.

Cons:

Confirm the location will have a car when a reservation is made in advance. I made the reservation over a week in advance. There is NO REASON AT ALL for Hertz to not have a car ready for me when I arrived.

Despite providing both Kayak and Sixt my flight arrival time into EWR, the Sixt rental counter desk was closed and I was unable to retrieve the car I had reserved and pre-paid. Fortunately, the other major rental car brand desks were open and I rented elsewhere. Thus far Sixt has resisted refunding their $400+ charge. Rent from Sixt in the US at your own risk.

Avoid at all costs! I received a scratched up car and was assured it was fine by the agents. I was not provided a paper receipt when requested and now Sixt is trying to hold me accountable for a smudge (not even a scratch) on the cover of a mirror. Garbage rental car company.

Drop off was quick and painless. I think we waited about 25 minutes for the van to be ready at the Newark airport when we went to pick it up. We had a Chrysler Pacifica van and it ran well, got over 25 mpg driving fast, and the AC worked good.

Cons:

On the downside, the third seat was elecric folding and it did not work properly. We had to manually push the cushions down to get a flat floor. For a long trip, the front seats in the Pacifica van are strictly mediocre, and the 2nd row seats are awful - like a padded jump seat. Too many gadgets. I will reserve final judgement on the billing for when we get the credit card statement.

The line to pick up was very long. Then the only card I had was my debit cards. Even though I had a photo of my Mastercard they said they could not use it so I did not get to rent a car. Budget will take debit cards so I thought I would use Budget again, They were booked, which is why my son rented a car for me at Thrifty online using his card. Live and learn.

Nothing to like. First, I would not rent from ACE again, as the inconvenience is not worth the time. Getting to the location is a hassle. Leaving the terminal, you have to travel/walk 15-20 minutes to get to a pickup area, only to have to call for a pickup. Several people were already waiting for an extended time before I arrived. Next, after getting to the rental location, I had to wait an additional 30 minutes before a vehicle was brought to me. After inspection of the vehicle, it seemed that a previous renter hit the bumper and you can see this on both left & right upper sides. I tried to point this out to someone that worked there and was told video was already taken of the car, so don't worry about it. I then took my own video. The car was not cleaned and looked like it just was wiped down with a cloth instead of being washed. The return wasn't any better, as I wasn't greeted by anyone when I pulled to the return point. I had to seek out an employee and ask, where they told me to leave the car and take the keys inside. I then had to wait as customers were in front of me in line, before a clerk looked up and asked if I was returning. I then gave the keys over and had to wait about 15 minutes more for the next shuttle back to the airport. You must factor in plenty of time if you rent with ACE, and not get frustrated with what appears to be poor process management. Overall, I would have rented directly from the airport onsite locations, instead of ACE if I fly into EWR/Newark airport again.

Easy to get to, shuttle driver was really nice. Not many people there so easy in and out.

They took a deposit and it was not returned within a week, which is when I am writing this review. Spoke on the phone with them yesterday, was told they would refund money that day, but not done. An unprofessional operation - there was no receipt given at return.

Good on gas. Remember, Jersey has gas station attendants. You do not pump your own gas.

2012 vehicle. Bubble on front right tire. Windshield wiper smacking right pilar. Many nicks and dings over the entire car which, as it turns out, blended in with most vehicles in Jersey... Only after you make to reservation you find out where the rental location is. Take the train to the "hotel pickup". Don't go to the "Rental Car" station. READ THE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY!

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.

Car was clean & ready to go. It was easy to move my reservation when my flight was delayed. My only complaint is the "airport" fee, when you have to Bart to target parking lot to get your rental
