The Hotel Villa Rosa Antico is a 16th-century villa standing on high ground among orange groves, looking down on both houses and coastline. Its setting provides an atmosphere that has faithfully preserved the authenticity of places still closely linked to the past. Over the years the villa has had several different owners but the last person to purchase it gave it as a gift to one of his sons who restored it and transformed it into a hotel. Surrounded by nature, full of atmosphere and painted pink, it is owned and run by the Campa family who gives a warm and friendly welcome to its guests. The rich façade of the Villa is built entirely in stone from the Lecce area (in Salento dialect known as leccisu), also called kind stone, a typical kind of rock formation of the Salento region which is much appreciated for its malleability and for the fact it is easy to work. The same stone is also found in the interior, in the columns, the arches and in certain items of furnishing. The 28 rooms feature classical elegance and are all furnished differently. Each room has a balcony, a colour TV, a fridge with mini-bar, direct-dial telephone, centralized air-conditioning and accessibility for the disabled. The bathrooms all have natural light. The Hotel Villa Rosa Antico offers delightful walks in the garden, where guests can enjoy the fragrance of citrus fruits and local herbs, as well as the perfume of the luxuriant vegetation. In the centre of the garden, two large furnished gazebos are there for our guests whenever they wish to relax, read and admire the secular olive trees and the colourful array of flowers. All such beauty is set within the splendid landscape of Otranto, the most eastern city in Italy.
This is a lovely small hotel, beautifuly presented. The room was large with a good bathroom. Staff were extremely helpful.
Hotel slightly out of town - about 15mins walk along a busy road to get to centre.
Very friendly staff who went out of their way to help with advice on the local area and any needs at the hotel. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was generous. While a bit out of town the location good for getting on the road to visit sights in the area and has good parking.
Our first impression was not so good .The hotel was situated at the crossing of 2 streets with a lot of traffic about 3 km from the center. But inside the hotel it was very quiet , the isolation was excellent . The hotel itself was also very luxurieus.
You had to pay if you wanted to put a drink of you own in the fridge (minibar) !!!
