This family-run hotel is set in a historic villa in Potsdam. It offers a garden, daily breakfast buffets, and easy transport connections. The Griebnitzsee lake is 1 km away. The Anno 1900 Hotel Babelsberg has brightly furnished rooms with modern TVs and free WiFi access. A small kitchen area with hot drinks facilities, a fridge and a microwave is available on the top floor. Guests are welcome to relax in the Anno 1900's sunbathing area or on the spacious terrace. The Griebnitzsee city rail station is 1.1 km away from the Anno 1900 Babelsberg. It connects you to Berlin's Friedrichstraße station in 35 minutes. Sights near the Anno 1900 include the Filmpark Babelsberg film studios, just a 5-minute drive away. Free public parking is available in front of the hotel.
Good location in a quite residential area. Only 30 min. driving to center of Berlin. Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast.
The neighbourhood was quiet and safe, the breakfast was good and the hotel has a beautiful garden. The room was clean. Easy free parking, but a car is recommended due to distance to public transport to both Potsdam and Berlin.
There is no soundproofing whatsoever. You can hear everything from all the neighbours, and guests were coming and going all hours of the night. The staff just did not want to hear complaints from any of the guests. The service was coldhearted and disinterested, there was never anybody there at the reception, nor did anybody come to have a look when somebody came in. Arriving guests were left for a long time, ringing the bell and shouting "hello, hello" without result. There was hardly any information on the area, they had no knowledge of the public transport, and there was no information whatsoever in the room about facilities, telephone charges, etc. Make sure you have eaten before you get to the hotel: in a 1 km radius, you cannot get anything to eat or drink. "Numerous restaurants located closeby" is just not true.
A very relaxing place to stay indeed. The hotel lacks facilites such as a bar and a lounge (never mind swimming pool and sauna, etc), but for the price, the deal was excellent. Breakfast was well up to scratch with a decent variety of quality fare. Service there was very friendly and we appreciated the very relaxed, easy going nature of it all. Timings were pleasantly loose. The placement of the hotel suited us: very, very quiet indeed (save for a disco one night at a nearby club), in a residential area of the suburb. Might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it was very much ours this year.
For the money, we just couldn't complain. We could only get a room on the top floor, sharing a bathroom. For us this was fine: there were actually 2 bathrooms, one male, one female, just across the hall. Obviously, en suite would have been nice but it wasn't practical given that we were in the attic space.
I liked the quied surroundings. (no noice)
the room was very hot during the nigths. A better ventilation was needed.
the rooms and grounds were very pleasant
being on the 4th floor is a little difficult for elderly people to carry their bags
