Not worth 200 for one night.
I stayed at the Grand Sierra for a business conference. Did not use much of the amenities, nor did I try the restaurant options. The hotel was clean, room was comfortable, and staff was helpful. I would definitely recommend the hotel if it suits your location. Not being downtown was not an issue for me - close to the airport was a plus.
Bed could be more comfortable
I always enjoy going to GSR post burning man. It is a way to slowly ease back into the default world.
The drawer had a full cup and a full ashtray of cigarettes. The heating and air also takes awhile to adjust.
I've been to this hotel since it was the Hilton. It was a very fun stay this time.
They only had smoking rooms when we checked in. The room smelled of stale smoke and affected my allergies.
I loved the newly renovated rooms and the new look for the hotel. I had stayed at the GSR several years back and it needed a bit of updating. They have updated everything!
Good location, large room, lots of gambling if that's what you're into
The room was very nice, but there was no coffee at the coffee maker, a light was burned out in the bathroom, and the shower drain seemed partially clogged. I got the impression that the rooms don't get the attention between guests that they need. When I went to my car to leave I discovered the entire area of the lot had been roped off. There was a little, nearly invisible sign that I had missed the night before when I arrived stating that the section of the lot was going to be used for a special event, and any cars remaining would be towed! I had to move a cone to get out! Also, the hotel charges a $15 "resort fee" on top of the room rate. I will not be back.
I liked the whole hotel & casino. It was very nice & clean.
The only negative thing that I didn't like was that I booked my room online & asked for a non smoking room. When I got to the hotel to check in they only had smoking rooms available. I didn't like the fact that I had to stay in a room smelling of cigarette!!!
We loved all there is to do at Sierra Grand! We loved all the dining and activity options!
We did not like the smoke smell. We did not like the hotel cleanliness.
Linen was awful...scratchy. Pillows are basketballs
Tons of restaurants, great staff, clean facility, overall great place.
Too far away from circus circus and the other casinos. None of the bars made good drinks.
They were very accomadating for upgrades. Friendly staff. Clean rooms.
Decor was diffantly older. Well kept up but older.
The room was huge... and kind of empty. Not much furniture to fill it out. The temperature control was crude -- a dial from a couple of decades ago with "hot" or "cold" -- from there, cross your fingers and hope to get something comfortable. The parking lot was 10 miles (it felt like) from the front door. The front entry itself was about 400 feet long... just a weird place.
I like the events and other activites they offer for the kids to do with the family.
smoking in the casino
I have stayed in 4 different Reno Casino hotels in the last year. GSR is by far the best. It's has great restaurants, bars. and lots of activities. Room was big, had a comfortable bed and pillows, and a great shower. Casino had a great ventilation system will little to no smoke smell. Will definitely stay again next time in town. Staff was very service oriented.
Most comfortable bed in a hotel I have slept on. Great food.
Disappointed that there was no indoor pool or jacuzzi and only an outdoor pool and jacuzzi that was closed for the season.
The casino area is very nice and spacious. Did not feel crowded. Well lite with high ceilings. Gaming staff very nice and cordial.
The room was attrocious. Single bed was a queen; not a king. Bedding was substandard. Nothing more than sheets and a light white bedspread. I have better bedding at home. The room felt dirty and had cheap set of unmatched furniture. I would gamble here. But I definitely would not stay here again!
Overpriced. Toilet from 1950
It was very close to the airport which was convienient. The place was very inexpensive.
The room was clean , but only minimally. The blow drier sent off sparks and the walls were so thin. You had to pay a resort fee, but I'm not sure for what. Nothing special at all about this place.
